Aww forget. I'm sure he'll understand - and go buy the flipping milk next time.

Just got invited to my first mothers and baby coffee morning - apparently bumps count as future babies! I don't see my neighbours all that often as I'm at work but now I've stopped working I'm bumping (literally) into tonnes of them which is lovely - especially as there are 5 babies due in the next 8 weeks so we'll all be looking for some company.

ginauk84 · 21/05/2013 12:43

cycle great news to hear he is doing so well, hopefully he will be home with you soon.

We went to the Mothercare event last night and have a better understanding of car seats and bedding now - bought all the bedding we need on a 3 for 2 and 10% off so that's that sorted. Went to Maccies for tea and was looking forward to the Nacho burger but they had the Chicago one on - was so gutted! I bit into it and thought hang on a minute this isn't the right one - wish had paid more attention when going through the drive through as they would have had my wrath lol!

I have 2 1/2 more weeks at work, really struggling with my pelvis and driving. Sold my lovely car and am using hubby's BMW which is far too low but good news today - he's got me a Freelander, hoorah am a lot comfier driving something when I am more upright. Just hope it is delivered soon.

Have an appointment with the osteopath tonight so I hope he can help the SPD as still waiting for a specialist physio referral - probably be too late, I have got to the stage where life would really be easier with crutches, shame I can't get them another way!

Re: crocheting and knitting - I don't have the patience at all, I get bored too easily lol!

forgetmenots · 21/05/2013 12:46

Haha sunny, definitely. Just had that moment after a terrible night sleep - I had boiled the kettle, I opened the fridge, and.... Arrrrgh! :)
Poor DH.

Oh mum and baby group sounds lovely, I'm still trying to ind out what's available near me so you're off to a flying start! :)

redwellybluewelly · 21/05/2013 13:00

Using the last of the milk without replacement in time for morning cup of tea is a hanging offence in our house and has been since we got together seven years ago!

So is failing to replace the toilet roll. Nothing worse than having to air dry.

forgetmenots · 21/05/2013 13:02

Hahaha glad it's not just me redwelly, steam was coming out my ears though I may have overreacted just a tad hugely Grin

Steffanoid · 21/05/2013 13:18

the dog has spent the morning giving me evil looks because I have broken biscuits but because they have chocolate I can't share.

is anyone else getting period pain cramps pretty much constantly? the biscuits and crap tv are a good distraction.

today is a very boring day in tge land of steff, oh is being hassled by stressed teachers cause it's exam time and I've not been hassled by my sister, it's just me and the dog who's still giving evils

hope everyone's having a good afternoon

learnermummy · 21/05/2013 13:21

My birth pool in a box has just arrived! Eeek, this is definitely getting a bit real!

redwellybluewelly · 21/05/2013 13:39

steff yes. I had two hours of either very realistic BH or the beginning of contracions last night, some were coming in 5min waves.

Three days left at my desk. And my awesomely phenomenal husband has surprised me by taking Friday off so he can drive me to work and then fit the bathroom floor. Original intention was him working on it all weekend but he said he felt that was unfair asking me to look after toddler all weekend on my own.

Might make him another cake today. Carrot cake anyone?

rrreow · 21/05/2013 14:08

I'm sitting here wishing I didn't have to work! Had a fairly good night sleep ('only' 4 wees Grin) so am feeling alright, but I'm just getting so impatient now. I want to meet my baby! I find it hard waiting around.. it gives my mind too much time to worry. I prefer to be dealing with things in the actual moment.

I'm having trouble finding mum & baby groups in my area. There are plenty of toddler drop-ins / stay & play stuff but I can't seem to find anything that's about meeting mums with similar age babies that is walking distance. With DS I didn't really go out and meet anyone (lots to do with working soon after the birth - having to do that again to a certain extent, but I'm definitely going to try and take it a bit more easy this time) so I'm feeling a bit isolated I guess.

cycle that must be so difficult having to be away from your baby. Hope you get to take him home soon.

learnermummy that's really exciting!!

learnermummy · 21/05/2013 14:13

rrreow, is there a childrens centre near you? You could look for groups there. Or a local NCT group might point you in the right direction.

rrreow · 21/05/2013 14:54

There are lots of drop ins in the area, but I'm looking more for something like a mum's coffee morning or something. Nearest place with something like that I've found would involve at least 30 mins travel and getting on the tube.

I think I might have to try and find people/organise something myself. Do supermarkets still have notice boards?

learnermummy · 21/05/2013 14:57

Yes, try supermarket boards, church halls, community halls. Your local NCT might put postnatal groups together. Not too sure what there is around here but have found a breastfeeding group I'll probably go to.

Sarah2506 · 21/05/2013 15:02

Rreow- where do you live?

OP posts:
rrreow · 21/05/2013 15:31

I've posted a couple of messages on online boards for my local area. So hoping that will yield some result. Going to have a nose around Waitrose later to see if they have a notice board.

Sarah I live in Bloomsbury near Russell Sq/Kings Cross.

Sarah2506 · 21/05/2013 15:45

I walk through from kings cross in the morning. There are always many kids around. There must be something! That new cafe Firebox on Cromer Street might have a notice board. Though you would have to be quite a lefty to go there! Difficult area though- quite a transient population. I can see that you might have to travel to somewhere like Camden to find something.

Ooh Somerstown Community Centre?

OP posts:
SunnyL · 21/05/2013 15:47

Oh dear. I have a near fatal case of Cantbearseditis this afternoon. Have walked the dog (and found the only bush I could go for a pee behind), bought DHs birthday present and did some shopping.

Afraid the girl in Asda may have got rather short shrift from me after she insisted on going through my entire basket and commenting on its nutritional content. Yes I am aware rocky road will probably make me fat but damnit I am 8.5 months pregnant - do you really think this is my most pressing concern?! Feck off and mind your own business! Will use the self serve check out in future.

MrsBri · 21/05/2013 15:56

How rude, Sunny. I'm not sure it's the place if supermarket staff to make such comments. I'd be furious.

And I'm struck down with the same affliction every day. It's tragic!

I'm just at the hospital. I've had bloods taken and have to go back in a bit to get baby monitored. I'm assuming he's fine though as he's been doing his best Alien impression for the last half hour. Showing off as I'm in public!

The itching is everywhere and driving me crazy. Apparently it could be hormonal, so they'll start me off with a prescription for Piriton while they're waiting for the full blood results.

Gets me out of the house!

DontmindifIdo · 21/05/2013 15:56

rreow - you might find most of those toddler stay and plays have mums with toddlers and younger DCs too, you could pop in to a few and see? Most churches run something (most of which aren't relgious) so it's worth having a look on their individual websites to see. (How old is your DS? Still pre-school?)

are you in the local NCT? Ours have general coffee mornings every other week (not just for particular antenatal groups). If you want to breast feed, you could contact your local la leache league, round us they have monthly meet ups in a bfing friendly coffee shop, good for meeting other new mums.

Also check your library, ours does a 'baby bounce and rhyme' session that's just for under 1s.

Remember that most baby/toddler groups shut down for the school summer holidays too - so from September i'm signing up for baby sensory classes and probably some sort of baby signing, possibly baby swimming classes. DS will be in preschool for 4 half days (not sure which ones I'm going to get yet, it might be 2 mornings and 1 full day at this rate), so I'll have some time with just this DC to do stuff and would like to meet mums with similar aged DCs - DS has a lot of little friends and it would be nice for this one to also have a group of similar aged DCs around to play with.

DontmindifIdo · 21/05/2013 15:57

Sunny - I think it's time for a strongly worded e-mail of complaint. She called you fat, you are reconsidering shopping there again. (should be good for some discount vouchers - also can I just be the first to say in a suitably Mumsnetty way "that wouldn't happen in Waitrose" Grin )

forgetmenots · 21/05/2013 16:26

Sunny I think given your day I'd have said 'listen, I don't give a feck about the calorific content of rocky road, you're talking to a woman who pissed in a bush for relief. Capiche?' Grin

But seriously, get a complaint in, cheeky mare!

forgetmenots · 21/05/2013 16:28

Hope you are ok mrsbri, glad to hear baby back to usual capers :) mine has still kept up the activity - seems to have turned a bit but who knows where it will end up!

AlohaMama · 21/05/2013 16:37

Lots of good tips on groups to note for later. This will be my first time as a non-working mum, but it's going to be 6 months til I can join anything - 6-8 weeks here, then 3ish weeks living with my folks before we finally move to our new home, wherever that may be. Truth be told I keep having panicky mornings in bed wondering about what I will actually DO as a sahm and whether I'll cope with it, and when to try and find a job.

Sunny I'd be p'd off if that was me. Had similar situation last time but took the cowards way out and just never went back to the shop! It wasn't so much the shock/surprise of the cashier at finding out I still had a month to go, it was the laughter behind my back when I walked out the shop. Ironically, I measured spot on whole pregnancy and actually had punt on less weight than the recommended guidelines. Sometimes wish people would just butt out!

rrreow · 21/05/2013 16:46

Thanks for the tips! Getting quite excited about it all now.

Hawkmoth · 21/05/2013 16:48

Eurgh! Just had a two hour nap and must have been a hundred miles away. Head's totally gone AWOL.

Small victory for my sanity today, albeit a painful one. DH heard my pelvis cracking when I was walking. I am NOT imagining it, sadly.
