arlandria666 · 16/05/2013 21:41

Congratulations rue and welcome to the world Michael :-D
Can't believe how many babies this June thread already has! Quite scary!

AlohaMama · 16/05/2013 22:23

Congratulations Rue, fantastic news. I always say ds was big but his measly 9lb1oz pales into insiginificance! Hope you have a speedy recovery x

Just found out DH flight home is delayed Sad. I was hoping he'd be back in time for DS bedtime, partly cos he misses his daddy and partly cos I'm over having to lift him in and out of the bath, and struggling with him to get his nappy and pjs on when he doesn't want to. Oh well at least he has no more travel booked so I can officially hand over all lifting/carrying duties from tomorrow.

Steffanoid · 16/05/2013 23:20

seems like chronic heartburn is here for the evening, had a gaviscon, a Rennie and glass of milk, still here to stay it seems, usually it's a gaviscon before bed and im ok, but today is a different story it seems, ho hum

arlandria666 · 17/05/2013 00:24

I am with you on the heartburn! I have had everything its so bad can't shift it!got midwife tomorrow will moan to her but will get nowhere! Not sure if to mention my painful bumcheeks lol she might think i have lost the plot lol

Steffanoid · 17/05/2013 06:11

she might look at you like Hmm
but dont worry mine had shooting pains yesterday morning too so must be common :-)

Littlemissexpecting · 17/05/2013 07:06

What a rubbish nights sleep. I swear I was awake more than I was asleep. Off out today with dh so can't even slob about all day.
Hope everyone is feeling better than I do

pinkapples · 17/05/2013 07:13

My nights sleep was very interrupted too Hmm and to top it off (not sure if pregnancy related or not) but have woken up with a sore geographic tongue

SunnyL · 17/05/2013 07:32

Pink i'm intrigued to know what a geographic tongue is. Is it when half of it is in France and half of it is in Belgium Grin.

I also had a funny nights sleep as DH tried to creep in at half 4 and woke me. Bloody shift workers!

Sarah2506 · 17/05/2013 07:43

I can't remember when I last slept well! I do this very annoying snorting in my sleep which wakes me up. I'm more exhausted after a week off work than I've ever been before. The highlight of maternity leave so far was lunch yesterday which went on till 4pm. That felt good!

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 07:51

Sarah, I've found that I'm utterly wiped out now I've finished work. But I'm wondering if it means I was forcing myself to work at the end and am now paying for it?

I'm still sleeping well though. After the one blip whenever it was that I needed a wee in the night, I'm still not getting up. The only times I wake are the 4-5 times I need to turn over, but I get straight back to sleep. The other night I must have got bored as I was turning as I then woke on my back a while later! Oops. :-)

I too am intrigued about a geographic tongue. Sounds very painful indeed!

Hawkmoth · 17/05/2013 08:39

For me, geographic tongue is a sign of low iron. It's bloody awful isn't it?

Congratulations rue on your baby x

I also had another crap night's sleep. What's worse is, I'm starting to wake DH with all my hefting about, toilet trips and moaning at my pelvis. He's SO tired, and he does EVERYTHING round the house atm. Have urged him to sleep in the spare bed so he can actually rest but he won't have it :( Poor bugger.

redwellybluewelly · 17/05/2013 09:41

Hawkmoth I think you need to have a long chat with your DH about sleep - especially before baby comes! It was extreme in our case because DD was so poorly but two years of sleep deprivation almost ruined our marriage because we were so so tired, can you sneak to the spare bed after he falls asleep? DH and I prioritise sleep over pretty much everything even though he takes it to extremes and uses tiredness as an excuse sometimes!

Night before last I had 6 solid hours sleep, felt incredible, last night got 4 hours then needed a wee, then awake for 45min then DD arrived in my bed at 6am exceedingly grumpy as she really needed another hour asleep. So I am mainlining coffee and munching bananas today!

I have almost constant (and extremely painful) heartburn now every evening

Olimoss · 17/05/2013 10:09

Final day at the office (and of a 12-month contratc, yay) completed yesterday - unparalleled joy at no more commutes involving buses, 3 train stations and 18 flights of stairs! Some leftover bits and pieces to do but all from home. Awesomes!

I am sleeping very mixedly - one night ok, another v badly. Only averaging one pee a night though. Weird. I'll take it!

Final community midwife visit today - have been very lucky to have the same, young, Scottish midwife all the way through, I shall miss seeing her.

I've been managing to keep heartburn under control with Rennies but some days they just don't work.

I think NewHuman's move, ends are definitely slowing dn and there's a very real sense that he's running out of room in there. I've still not become accustomed to seeing a foot or baby-ass roll across my stomach. It's just too alien....will be meeting him in 12 days. Woohoo!

Olimoss · 17/05/2013 10:09

Typo alerts. Bloody iPad. Def NOT my fault.

arlandria666 · 17/05/2013 10:34

Woke up with a massive headache today took some tablets hope it shifts and hope my blood pressure isn't high when the midwife comes because she will send me in again and i have no one to go with me today :-(
Didn't sleep well so maybe that's why my head hurts so much just going to lay on sofa til she comes better turn the door bell up in case i snooze ha!
Feel worse this week after being off work all week than i felt from working! Madness!

Sarah2506 · 17/05/2013 11:05

It's very reassuring when others feel the same! One thing I did realise was that I have far less Braxton Hicks now I'm not at work, but I'm not sure if thats a good thing? Yesterday I overdid it and decided to walk from London Bridge to John Lewis on Oxford Street and then back to Kings Cross. Thats a good five miles and could have been done without drawing breath a month ago but yesterday wiped me out completely. I had a massive BH in the station and thought oh fuck this is it. Is it good to have them regularly or are they a sign things are not as they should be?

OP posts:
redwellybluewelly · 17/05/2013 11:27

Sarah as I understand it BH can be a 'chill out you're doing too much' and they are worse after walking for me. Other triggers are a lot of bending or lifting, and not drinking enough.

Oli - I have an app on my phone which tells me how many days I have until meeting this baby face to face - hoping its an incredible moment for both DH and I

ella0 · 17/05/2013 12:01

I'm sleeping horrendously, I'm definitely awake more than I'm asleep at night. Last night, I gave up trying to get back to sleep and got up properly for an hour as I feel sorry for my husband who has to get up early for work. It's not that I need the loo, I'm just uncomfortable and hate staying in one position (feeling pressure to sleep on my left side doesn't help) but it's not so easy to keep turning over now. My pregnancy pillows are just irritating me now and I'm hot all the time (when my husband is cold!).

I haven't had any Braxton Hicks (37 weeks now) but I drink a lot of water and I've heard that dehydration can be a factor in getting them. I am still exercising and keeping active, but that hasn't brought any on for me (again, I make sure I keep hydrated).

redwellybluewelly · 17/05/2013 12:10

ella I didn't have any BH with my 1st pregnancy, this one however they've been constant.

My SIL had them with 1st and 3rd babies but not the 2nd.

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 12:20

I've not had any BH that I know of. I've had period type pain, but without bump tightening, so it can't be BH, it is just ligaments.

I've got Baby B hiccuping furiously in my bits and also waving his bum around, sticking his feet in my ribs. Ouchy!! Does anybody else find hiccups disconcerting?!

Sarah2506 · 17/05/2013 12:25

I say BH but I am using that as a label to describe what feels like period type pain. I'm not conscious of my bump tightening as such. It's difficult as a first timer I guess, you don't really know whats what!

I don't enjoy the hiccups much at all. Very weird movement!

Am contemplating driving to Muswell Hill entirely because there is a bakery there which does lovely biscuits. Is a 10 mile return drive warranted for a biscuit?!
