Just grabbed myself a bargain from Boots.

I got the Bababing changing bag for £50, then saw that if you spend £60 or more on baby stuff you get £15 off, so I chucked in 2 bottles as well for a tenner and the whole lot cost £45 with free delivery plus 600 advantage card points (£6 worth). Bargain!

Just a heads up in case anyone else wants to take advantage.

claphammama · 24/05/2013 13:22

that's a great deal smitten! I paid for my bag 65 in John Lewis... "never knowingly undersold"? :-)

caz why don't you add yourself under girls? seems it's more likely you are having a girl?

flyer don't worry but I understand. Somehow I wasn't at all worried about birth, didn't scare me at all, but I was absolutely petrified of what would happen when I come home from the hospital, how I would manage with the tiny baby the first few days on my own (I don't have any family around me). And my first nappy change was a disaster - I have a boy and put it on him the wrong way round! So he was all wet and nurses had to change his new bedding only a few hours after he was born. He survived the disaster and I learned how to put on a nappy :-)

GTbaby · 24/05/2013 13:53

Flyer. Seriously don't worry. I looked at loads of "what clothes should I buy for baby" threads.

White vests (can wash oh super hot when u get poo all over them)
Baby grows (aka onesy/sleep suit) push buttons down front. Not down back or just on legs, at least until your more confident with dressing the baby.
Baby hat
Mittens
Cardigan.

I have a spreadsheet, I can put it on FB group if you want? Or pm me your email add and I can send it.

Smitten1981 · 24/05/2013 14:06

Thanks for the Bababing bag suggestion Clapham Easily the best one I've seen for a reasonable price and man friendly too!

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 14:48

Home from scan all was good and healthy and she confirmed we was having a boy as the private scan did 4 weeks ago (we didn't tell her we knew so we didn't influence her) will Facebook the pics x

TheFalconsmistress · 24/05/2013 14:58

I have had a good day today had my hair cut and a thrift shop around from me were doing fill a carrier bag for a £1 I got tons of joules and monsoon clothes and a baby borjn carrier for £6 all together now i mean i got a wardrobe full very chuffed Grin

HotSoupDumpling · 24/05/2013 15:09

A baby bjorn for £6!?!? Jealous jealous jealous! Hang on, there's an icon for this: Envy

Great tip smitten re bag bargains - it is a really nice neutral bag. Since DH cannot be separated from his precious rucksack I think I'm going to go down GT's route and have a thin little bag containing everything that will be inserted into my handbag/DH's rucksack. GT - that's what I like about the thin disposable ones - you can reuse them quite a bit but you can throw them away too (e.g. if you're changing the baby in an utterly disgusting public toilet in central London).

Wickedgirl · 24/05/2013 16:52

Youtube have videos on how to do nappies and bath newborns but if you ask a midwife, they will show you.

I used to work in a maternity unit (I'm a doula and maternity nurse) and I had the wonderful job of showing new mums how to change nappies, change clothes and do bath time.

If any of you want to ask me any questions regarding baby care, feel free to ask

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 17:00

How did everyone else get on today scanning?

GTbaby · 24/05/2013 17:15

Wicked. I want a doula. Mostly as
A) I'm worried about being left alone after birth as DH will have to think about ds
B) got no support in breast feeding last time n still feel guilty about switching to formula.

Am also considering a private bf councillor. Won't be leaving house (once we are back from hospital) for 5weeks. So would like someone helping at the house rather then local support groups.

Ellie15 · 24/05/2013 17:18

Congrats on the scan Natalieand. We had ours this morning and it went well apart from taking the head measurements, baby would not move into a good position (cue me rolling about and jumping up and down on the spot). So I'm going back next week for another look (happy to see baby again). We also were able to find out the gender, another boy for the October bus! I'm off to add myself to the spreadsheet.

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 18:15

Congrats on the baby boy Ellie :-) glad everything went well and good news u get to have an extra sneak peak at baby next week :-)

I literally cannot believe how many boys are on this thread I'm also part of another forum off of one of my phone apps for October (I only lurk on it tho) and there r so many boys on there too compared to girls

tuckingfits · 24/05/2013 19:05

Hi all. Had our scan this afternoon,it's a girl! Am taking my time getting used to the idea having been so definite I wanted another boy,but as long as she's (weird!) healthy that's what matters! Have to go back in two weeks as she wouldn't move to let them see everything.

Also found out placenta is anterior & low so have another later scan to check it has moved off my previous section scar site. Not sure what this means but will find out later I guess!

Congratulations to everyone else on their good scans. Excellent!

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 19:07

Congrats tucking a little princess to add to the thread (a rare breed it would seem lol) xxx

tuckingfits · 24/05/2013 19:12

thanks natalie!

Just tried to update the spreadsheet but perhaps because I'm on my phone,I couldn't. If I ever switch the laptop on again,I'll have another go!

TheFalconsmistress · 24/05/2013 20:21

Would have worked out about 10p hotsoup It was a pound to fill a carry bag full of stuff! so i got six bags full of all sorts :)

Mw 22 week appointment was today too heard hb and she was shifting a fair bit measuring 24 weeks but i'm sure that will even out! I hope everyone has a great bank holiday weekend Grin

TheFalconsmistress · 24/05/2013 20:34

sorry i did not see you with your post tucking yey! another girl Grin

Livened · 24/05/2013 21:14

Hi, GT I pm'd you a few weeks ago to be added to the Facebook group (would love to see scan pics!). Did you get it? If not can you message me and I will send my details so you can add me?

20 weeks today but have to wait until next Friday for our scan - time is practically going backwards...

ananikifo · 24/05/2013 21:17

Congrats to today's scanners. I hope I can help even it out with a girl, but the odds don't look good!

I'm now googling this famous bababing bag! I have lots of advantage points after buying my pram from boots, and it means I always check them for other things I want to buy now. So the loyalty card is a great marketing plan!

I feel properly pregnant this week. My clothes are finally getting tight and people are finally noticing. I went shopping for comfy flat shoes tonight after work and came home exhausted and achy.

claphammama · 24/05/2013 22:00

congrats all the scanners - more boys and more girls! great to hear all is good and they are all growing well and healthy

GT - why do you have to stay home for 5 weeks after birth? what's the history of this tradition? I hope you don't mind me asking but these things really interest me! And yes please, if you could add the spreadsheet on Facebook that would be great. I'm not entirely sure where would be best and you seem more Facebook savvy than me...

GTbaby · 24/05/2013 22:04

Sry livened! Sent PM.
If anyone else needs adding PM me as I've missed your message.

Livened · 24/05/2013 22:19

Thanks - got it and will message you now xx

Soupqueen · 24/05/2013 23:41

I think I may have accidentally deleted someone from the spreadsheet Blush

I'm very sorry! And don't know who it was - number 8 on the boy list?

Natalieand · 25/05/2013 06:46

Here's a scary little thought for u, ppl getting BFP's this week will be due in February (assuming they get them the day their period is due) and our babies will be around 4months maybe even closer to 5 months if ppl on like oct 1st/2nd/3rd etc come at 37 weeks

Sanjifair · 25/05/2013 06:50

Congrats on all the scans! Quite a few people who have been called back for another look. Hoping that doesn't happen to me as I am off on holiday the next week!
My scan is on Wednesday. Do I have any scan buddies?
