Walked too far too fast too much today and now have pain and soreness in bump :(

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/05/2013 22:25

Congrats scanees. Lovely to see photos on fb.

MoN you had me and my husband in stitches with the solitary lettuce!

Definitely don't want in laws around or anyone staying with us at that time. Just checked DH knows that's not ok to invite them without checking! I don't think you would be at all unreasonable to get him to call back and say actually it won't work.

Yes to swollen ankles, only today but my leggings have left stitch marks and was dying to get my socks off. Slightly less puffy after putting feet up.

Good news my sister and family who have been staying with us for the past 3 weeks saw a house they like today so hopefully soon we will be back to just me and DH again soon for a few months (and then never again once baby arrives!) We just booked a bank holiday break in Devon. DH cant take half term off work but really looking forward to a little break and some 'us' time. Our little house is very cramped with 5 people in it.

Some great scan news today a d I'm sure more to come tomorrow.

Next Wednesday for me at 20+3 and hoping to find our the flavour.

natalie I have constantly had goals. First to get past my previous mc weeks(9 weeks) then 12 for scan, then16 and hearing hb then it was being too fat for my work shirt which I reached this week Grin next is 20 week scan then 24 weeks.

Haylebop12 · 23/05/2013 22:46

And if anyone is planning to bf and hopefully express, as I am, the tommee tippee manual pump is reduced to £12.49 in Argos.

I got a six pack bottles in asda event for £10 plus sterilizer for £16 so I'm prepared. If I'm unable to express then ill be dropping the odd bottle of formula in there to help me out anyway.

MrsO27 · 23/05/2013 22:51

Congrats to all scanners! mine is on the 7th June so 2 weeks tomorrow. Seems like ages away but i'm hoping it goes quickly as the 6 weeks since the 12 week scan have flown by.
I don't have a gmail account but I'll be in the surprise column, dd 23rd October (dc1).
I had a look at the bababing bags on the John Lewis website. There is also a nice plain grey Icandy one for £55.
Talking about Icandy, it's a brand that's on our short list for pushchairs/travel systems (possibly the icandy apple), They seem to get good reviews on the mumsnet review site but wondered if anyone on here has any experience of them?
Good luck to all Friday scanners.

GTbaby · 24/05/2013 00:05

Jelly - obviously swelling is normal. But not sure about it being on one side only!?
What side do you sleep on? Does that effect it. I think it's suggested to sleep on your right side legs slightly bent. Pillow between your knees.
See if this makes a difference.

Maybe mention to MW...

Random tip. For those who suffer cramp in their calf muscle. Try sleep with your toes pointed towards your knee ( opposite to a ballerina, so balls of your feet stick out) if you get a crap move your foot into this position. And show your P Incase your screaming wakes them so they can help.

GTbaby · 24/05/2013 00:27

Hotsoup. I was given those disposable changing matts by a friend who had them left over. You don't have to throw away after each use. Just when wet/dirty. I tend to have one in my bag Incase changing area is dirty. I also have a very small thin travel changing bag. Which I use mostly. It was in a johnsons n johnsons bag from mothercare I got at baby shower. Most used item I received, as I also keep it downstairs for changing LO. Alot easier then having a big changing mat downstairs n makes it easier to tidy room up.
Most travel changing mats I've seen have pockets in them and end up bulky in my bag.

Who would think I could write such a long post about travel mats. Shock

Clam. Thanks for spreadsheet. I don't think you have to have a gmail account to edit it. I managed to open it from the link with no logging on.
Can you link to it on the FB group swell ? I'm on phone so can't link ATM.

Flyer747 · 24/05/2013 00:32

Good Luck to tomorrow's scanners, looking forward to hearing what genders you have

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 07:09

Scan day Grin 12.20 for me :-)

Shirehobbit · 24/05/2013 07:36

Friday, the eve of a long weekend, pay day (phew!) and scan news to look forward to on here - a good day all round Grin
Good luck x

FeministInTraining · 24/05/2013 08:00

Checking in to see the scan updates- congratulations to all the happy scanees so far! Good luck to those having scans today- Natalieand I never knew 24 weeks meant that, it's my new milestone after my scan on Tuesday @ 20+1. I think we're due date buddies so we will reach it at the same time Smile

Even though we're not finding out the sex I'm so excited seeing everyone else's news! And after initially being convinced I was having a girl, I'm now thinking boy. I've realised it just depends on whether we have a name I like. Oh crap, after all that talk about not bonding with a gender stereotype, I'm bonding with a name Blush

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 08:07

fem yes we have same due dates as I will be 20+1 on Tuesday too :-)

I'm 19+4 now and I've felt movements on 2-3 occasions and then nothing is n e one else as far as me and not feeling movements?

Empress77 · 24/05/2013 09:01

I got the free changing bag from Boots, it looks good & my sister has always used it fine for hers.

Flyer747 · 24/05/2013 09:54

Me Natalie I'm 19+5 and felt nothing. Well I feel like what I can describe as a little pain (like tiny electric shock) on my right side low down, but not sure what movements would feel like anyway. I've disregarded that and presumed I've felt nothing. The sonographer looked at my placenta and said it was right in front of baby yesterday. Good luck with the scan x

claphammama · 24/05/2013 10:11

Morning ladies. Congrats to all the scanners - jelly congrats on your little exhibitionist :-) And good luck to everyone scanning today.

flyer this sounds like ligament pain, definitely not movements. Movements don't hurt, at least not at this stage. I got it a lot around this time in my first pregnancy - you get it as you stretch. This is exactly how it felt sometimes - sharp pain like electric shock.

jelly I had a lot of swelling right at the end of my first pregnancy (DS was an August baby and it was a hot July...) but I agree with gtbaby - swelling in one leg only is strange. I would call the MW if I were you just to check and see what she says.

And yes, you are right gtbaby - I completely forgot that they changed it recently and you no longer need to sign in. So anyone can edit the spreadsheet! It's growing nicely and it's here to save everyone scrolling:
docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AidVHHwJSwC3dDU2VzFhWWt1ckg4dW84WkdCNzhOaFE#gid=0

I have no idea how to link it on Facebook though... do you mean you want me to post this link on facebook?

Smitten1981 · 24/05/2013 10:18

I've just added you to the spread sheet MrsO 10 boys to 6 girls and 6 unknowns at the moment!

Natalieand · 24/05/2013 10:20

Midwife told me to ask them to check for anterior placenta today as they mentioned at 12 week scan if could be anterior and this is second baby for me so I'm aware of what to feel for

2 hours till scan Ahhhh!
Picking dd up from play group at 11.30 kinda felt mean sending her in for 2 hours but she gets her attendance mark for the entire morning then lol

GTbaby · 24/05/2013 10:49

Someone said yesterday thy had never changed a nappy. Just wanted to say- don't worry! Neither had I! Until 3am in near darkness on a full ward n was to embarrassed to ask for help.
Watch the johnsons n johnsons video on how to change a nappy. Lol. I saw it on one of those tvs in the mW waiting room. Sure you can find it on YouTube. Also one for bathing baby. Also if you go to nhs/nxt class they will show you.

For those thinking About NCT classes look into prices first. As I wanted to do them. But think they worked out at £400. For the times I could attend also as I fall into London prices Hmm. For me it was mainly to make friends with local mums (but nearest was still a 20min drive away) so couldn't justify cost. This site and nhs class gave me all the info I needed.

Flyer747 · 24/05/2013 11:25

GTbaby it was me who has never changed a baby, or bathed one for that matter. I don't even know what you are supposed to dress them in at first, how to make a bottle (incase I cannot bf) omg I have lots of learning to do!

I also think I may have bodged up the google stats thing, I'm an air stewardess and spreadsheets don't get used very often on planes, haha! Sorry if anyone can sort it out I'd much appreciate it!

Flyer747 · 24/05/2013 11:28

Oh and I am doing the NCT course, I think it's a requirement given me lack of knowledge in the baby department!!

Flyer747 · 24/05/2013 11:28

Given the not given me

cazboldy · 24/05/2013 12:01

congrats to recent scannees, and good luck to those scanning today. Smile

I don't know whether to put myself in the girl column or surprise column - I'm still not convinced, and she wasn't definite..... Grin

Falcon - Sorry the OU were messing you around, Ive just got my last tma back for this module, and have an exam on the 13th of June! Argh!

Getting our cows washed and clipped today ready to go to the suffolk show next week, and it's pissing down, and baby/bump keeps objecting everytime i bend over, and i get a pain like a stitch!

Think i may have had some Braxton hicks last night too, bump has popped right out and kept going rock hard! Can you get them this early? (20 + 4)

Smitten1981 · 24/05/2013 12:13

I've just attempted to buy a maternity bra and a tankini top for my hols from Figleaves. Bit of a nightmare being as I have no idea whatsoever what size I am now. Just so fed up with feeling fat poking out of all my 'normal' non-pregnancy clothes.

Also have my asos maternity jeans on today and forgot why I stopped wearing them. They look amazing fit wise, but the stupid button and elastic tightener things are just so annoying. The buttons stick in my side and rub and the elastic is pulled so tight to stop them falling down that it's sticking out like loose wires. URGH.

I feel so fat and unattractive at the moment.

Rant, rant.

JellyCurls · 24/05/2013 12:24

Caz I have been having Braxton hicks since 16 weeks. Very annoying but all part of pregnancy I guess

cazboldy · 24/05/2013 12:32

Jelly - i never had any with my first 3 pregnancies, and just a few with number 4, had lots with number 5 but only from about 34 weeks......

must be that my stomach has decided more effort is required this time lol

Bump definitely noticeable now, 3 mum's at school commented this morning.

1 said "Oh look, congratulations" 2nd one said "You're not are you" and I played along and said "not what?" all innocently, and made her have to actually ask me Grin

and the 3rd one just shook her head and said I was crazy! Grin - I am assuming the 3rd one's comment was about my bump....

I am wearing jeggings and a tight long top though, instead of jeans and t shirts i have been wearing lately.
