Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have a high anterior placenta (confirmed on Monday) and I feel movements occasionally low down to the right or left of my belly button (about an inch below it). I get pressure too

claphammama · 22/05/2013 17:22

ps. catching up on the thread, you reminded me about all the bedtime routine, waking up early with a full nappy joys! With DS almost 5 it's all behind me... and now I get to do it all over again :-) Take heart and persevere - it does get better with time! DS is really good now although still comes to our bed occasionally in the middle of the night. Luckily he always goes to DP's side... I used to be quite upset about it (happy and upset at the same time!) but DP is on the larger side while I'm small and bony so probably he is just a much better cuddle than me!
One thing I've learned - be consistent and make no exceptions. As tempting as it is sometimes to let things go when you are very tired. Making exceptions will set you back massively.

Shirehobbit · 22/05/2013 17:30

No change of dates - maybe just a growth spurt...or I'm cooking a monster!!

I think I'm beginning to feel movement but the best way to describe it is muffled?

PseudoBadger · 22/05/2013 17:30

I've got ten days off starting Friday and my job for that 'break' is to get DS sleeping all night in his own bed (he wakes every night and I bring him in with us as I'm lazy...) and perhaps get bedtimes to go better as well. I'm dreading it!

GTbaby · 22/05/2013 17:37

Hi shire. Yes I had that with dc1.
He was dated earlier then I thought at 1st scan. And then at 2nd scan was a few days bigger. at a private 3d scan at 28ish weeks was maybe 2weeks bigger...
they didn't change due date. Sonographer said babies grow uniformly at first which is why they can date at first scan and then when bigger they grow at their own rates.

TheFalconsmistress · 22/05/2013 17:56

Has anyone bought a changing bag yet I have been looking at a few but they seem fairly expensive??

favellio · 22/05/2013 18:06

Hi everyone,
Sorry I've not posted for ages, I've been mega busy with work.
Made it to 20 weeks today GrinGrinGrin
Scan got bought forward by a day, so having it at 8.20am tomorrow. Very excited, even though we're not finding it the sex!
Massive congratulations to all those boys and girls so far Grin

Flyer747 · 22/05/2013 18:40

Has anyone got one of those baby bjorn things? Seen one on eBay and wondered if they are worth getting for carrying the baby in when you are doing things like dog walking etc.

ananikifo · 22/05/2013 19:43

Flyer: I've heard that the baby bjorn type carriers are less comfortable for baby than the wrap type carriers. GTBaby suggested using a sling library to find one that baby and I like. The one in Manchester costs £5 a month so it seems worth it to make sure I know what will work for us and spend my money wisely. I would still likely buy it on eBay, just after baby is here.

cazboldy · 22/05/2013 19:45

I have a carrier. I used it loads for dd1 as she was one of those babies you couldn't put down, so used to have her in it loads, for loading the dishwasher/ hoovering etc Grin

then my last 2 only had 15 months between them, and I couldn't fit a double pushchair in the car, so used to carry dd2 in it and push ds3 in the buggy.

Mine turns to front facing at about 4 months. It can pull on your shoulders when they get heavier, and make sure you get one with a back support strap! it helps to spread the weight.

I might get a sling this time.

Smitten1981 · 22/05/2013 20:07

Falcon - I'm deliberating on changing bags. I haven't seen anything that justifies the extortionate price yet and I hate the elaborate patterned ones. DH would feel a right wally using an overly girlie one.

Might just get a rucksack and buy a mini changing mat etc to shove in it. Much cheaper. Fed up of feeling like I should be spending a fortune on everything!

chickieno1 · 22/05/2013 20:18

Congrats on good scan shire

flyer had two babybjorns and I wouldn't be a big fan. Ended up getting a wrap which was much more comfortable. The bb pulled at the shoulders and was uncomfortable even with a lumbar support. My friend had bb but then got an ergo which she fond better. Sling library sounds good

Slippysnow · 22/05/2013 20:41

flyer I bought a second hand baby bjorn for dog walking. I've read mixed reviews but I still think it looks sturdy safe and easy to use. I looked into slings and read info regarding the baby's hips being dangled so I wouldn't use the sling all day every day like some use the material slings.

I am quite a simple sole, and with the prospect of tired baby brain I've been impressed at how easy it is to put on and off.

Disclaimer: this is my first baby- haven't used it with a baby (just teddy bear)

Racheld33 · 22/05/2013 20:43

flyer we had a baby bjorn carrier and loved it. I know it doesn't get great reviews from a lot of people. But I put DS in from day one just for little walks in the day (he HATED his pram/lying flat), and as he got bigger did supermarket shop etc with him in it. Never had problem with pressure on back, and DH loved it too.

moonblues · 22/05/2013 20:44

Hi Jelly I also found the Gro clock good, though I didn't use it til my DD was 3 and toilet trained, but it definitely helped to keep her in bed longer in the morning. I hadn't heard of the duvet, but might need to check it out for the next one!

Slippysnow · 22/05/2013 20:45

Haha very simple... Soul not sole. I'm not a shoe. Very tired

Racheld33 · 22/05/2013 20:48

legally we love the grow company zip in duvet too!
My DS used to sleep across the top of his bed with his legs dangling precariously off every night till we got it, and now we zip him in and he doesn't move all night!

moonblues · 22/05/2013 20:49

We had a baby bjorn. I think my DH liked it more than I did, but was definitely used a lot by both of us. My DS particularly liked being higher up and able to look out from it. I think I might look into getting a sling this time, so will have to look into sling meets / library.

MotherOfNations · 22/05/2013 20:49

Congratulations on good scan shire. I can't wait until it's my turn again.

I've been such a pig today. Apart from normal meals I have had 3 packets of crisps, 2 picnic bars, a mars bar and an ice cream sundae. I still feel like I could eat more. I know I'm eating far too much sugar but the one day I tried to start the day without it I fainted. I had such healthy cravings with my other pregnancies but now all I want is sugar.

Slippysnow · 22/05/2013 20:49

Also, those who are feeling movements or have had previous pregnancies, did anyone feel a movement that felt like a bee buzzing.

I may be clutching at straws hoping I'm feeling things. Or could you describe the early movements.

Natalieand · 22/05/2013 21:01

Don't worry -MoN my diet today consisted of a fried breakfast in a pub for lunch a Belgian bun and mars bar milkshake and for dinner I went to a pub for a roast... Now having another glass of mars milkshake, shameful!

slippy my early movement I would describe and a popping sensation like when u have wind popping around xx

Excellent news on the good scan shire

Who's turn tommorow?

PseudoBadger · 22/05/2013 21:05

Sloppy I sometimes get what can only be called vibrations!

MotherOfNations · 22/05/2013 21:09

I'm addicted to Mars milkshakes Natalie. I lived on them the first few weeks when I didn't feel like proper food.

Smitten1981 · 22/05/2013 21:14

My diet has probably been the worst it has been in years. All I want is sugar in the form of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, Ben & Jerry's, hobnobs, Fruit Pastille lollies, Skittles.

I'm surprised I haven't had some sort of bad reaction to all the junk. I really must stop and try and get some fruit and veg in. I actually feel disgusting.

Natalieand · 22/05/2013 21:14

Even worse when two big bottles r on offer for £2.50 in tesco MoN lol
