I'm sure I felt a fee wriggly/kick type movements from baby last night when I got into bed and I'm laying in bed now thinking the same! 19+2 with dc 2 so its the right kind of time! It makes me so much more excited lol

Who is scanning today? Best of luck to u lovely ladies if u are and will u be finding out the sex of baby? My scan is Friday eeeeeek

JellyCurls · 22/05/2013 07:11

Not caught up properly yet but had to vent. On train to Aberdeen today and queuing to get on. This old git decides he wants on before me, tries to get through door first but I block him, he then shoves me out of road to get into carriage first. Now today, with what I am wearing, I def look pregnant, no sorry just a look like " I win". Turns out he works for same company as I do. Old fart!!!

Have a nice day everyone else x

Shirehobbit · 22/05/2013 07:56

How rubbish, jelly.

Our turn for the scan today. Barely slept and so nervous. Not finding out through flavour, just hoping so much to see a healthy baby.

Shirehobbit · 22/05/2013 08:10

Through? Mistype! Blush
Should read: we're not finding out the flavour.
I'm looking forward to that surprise moment. Lovely tip about DH at the birth, too. Thank you!

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 08:19

I fully recommend DH telling you the sex at the birth. We did that with DD (we didn't tell the midwife that, it just happened that way!).

We're having another surprise (surprises!!) this time! Can't wait! Also I think it will be a nice distraction as they rummage around inside me for the c section. Our good friends just had their second daughter by c section. We knew she was a she m, the date and time she was booked in to arrive and her name,so it was a bit sort of, "oh yes, [name] has arrived as planned..."! Personal choice and I agree that if you have a strong preference, better to know now.

roofio87 · 22/05/2013 09:24

my finding out the sex was just purely because I'm impatient!! people keep asking about names and we know what we want to call him but not going to tell anyone else that! I wouldn't have minded not knowing but when it was right in front of me and I could just ask I was never going to be able to stop myself!!

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 09:53

Good luck Shire!

By the way.... Where's Umlauf? Not "seen" her in ages!

Flyer747 · 22/05/2013 10:00

How funny legally I was thinking exactly the same about umlauf last night

Wickedgirl · 22/05/2013 10:12

I found out the sex with my second baby but I found it more exciting to not know which is why we are waiting for the birth to find out the sex of baby 4.

I am 20 weeks today......halfway already. Scan tomorrow......can't wait.

Good lunch for those scanning today

Wickedgirl · 22/05/2013 10:12

Grrrrrr

Do have a nice lunch too but I meant good luck. Lol

roofio87 · 22/05/2013 10:16

I just got two busses to the hospital for an appointment (not pg related) only to find out it had been cancelled and they hadn't told me!! wouldn't be so annoying expect I have to go back to the same hospital for a different appointment at 2pm. oh well, a bit annoying but definitely didn't warrant me bursting into tears about it, stupid hormones!!!Grin

MrsO27 · 22/05/2013 10:39

That is a good tip about dh announcing the sex at the birth. Although, I'm not sure I want DH down at the "business end" of proceedings at the birth so that presents a dilemma... Smile

In other news, at work, we just got rid of the most obnoxious, disgusting, loud oaf from our open plan office - but have now welcomed an even louder (albeit much less disgusting) chap - who now sits 3 desks away from me. I'm pretty sure whoever he is on the phone to must be holding the phone at arm's distance to not be deafened by him. Grrrr!!! Don't know if i'm just being particularly moody today or if he's going to annoy me like this every single day. Who invented open plan?!!? And where can I get some ear plugs...

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 12:30

I think (slightly hazy) DH only looked once DD was out.....

I have another scan next Friday... I have theme every three weeks!

BowlFullofJelly · 22/05/2013 12:35

Hi all, haven't posted for a bit, but great to hear about everyone's scans - am jealous of all of the boys though - seems I am one of the minority expecting a girl!

Have been reading comments about the tough time that people are getting at work - really feel for you guys and hope things get better. Me, employers are fine, but really don't think I can come back. Was getting pretty bored before I got pregnant, and now I can barely raise the enthusiasm to do the basic's. Putting off making a decision until into next year though - not coming back would probably mean a relocation, and can't get my head around that at the moment.

Any experienced Mum's on hear have any advice to offer on keeping toddler in bed at night. DS has been in his big boy bed for about 5 weeks now, but for the last two he is just messing around until about 9.30pm every night, and then coming into our room at 6am - feel like I am not getting any rest - any advice welcome!

Any scanners today? Am I the only one that feels like this pregnancy is flying by? Really doesn't seem that long ago they we started tentatively talking and adding due dates to stats threads at 4/5 weeks, and now it's all scans and kicks!

Warlin · 22/05/2013 12:56

Hi All

Just got my first Boojum for lunch...I'm in love but my god it's huge so taking a break! Why have not discovered this before!

Good luck today shire..hope your LO is active and bouncing away!

Last time we told family the name when we had decided and I kind of regretted it so this time I am determined to keep the name to ourselves. I'm crap at keeping secrets though and don't really do surprises! We have decided on Edward (Eddie) so it's nice as we talk about him as if he is here already! DS had me up from 4am this morning so I'm starting to fade today! Roll on the bank holiday weekend.

I was working out that I only have 14 weeks left of work....assuming I finish at 37 weeks, ahve 2 weeks holiday and some bank holidays....agree bowful it is going quite quickly!

We are having DS's 1st birthday party on Sun and have (perhaps stupidly) 40 adults, 17 children and 8 babies coming. Thankfully not to the house! Really need to get all the food etc sorted as feeling very disorganised at the moment!

I only seem to get kicks in the evening...baby must sleep at day. Not a good sign!

jelly how rude of that man and then to find out he's a colleague! Idiot!

roofio how frustrating...think I would have cried too :)

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 13:59

Bowlful..snap!!! DD has been in her new bed 4 weeks... She mucking about for ages too. That said, she is mucking about but staying in bed. We have the gro company zip in duvet (on the actual gro company website) and from when I stopped bf (she was 2Blush), she has had a story cd to sleep. Both help. She's thankfully ok in the mornings... But then she's always woken at 6.20am (horror of horrors, it was 5.30am when i stopped bf, but we fixed it with the gro clock). Btw, i don't work for gro company!!!

BowlFullofJelly · 22/05/2013 15:05

Legally so I get this straight - I can zip him into bed? He may take more restraining than that, but definitely worth a go! He just thinks it is hilarious us running around after him - ended up putting him back in his cot last night and sitting on a dining room chair in the middle of his room so he didn't climb out Blush - fairly sure Supernanny wouldn't recommend that one!

The 6am wake ups are also normally accompanied by 'Mummy, it is morning time, and I dunna poo Grin' - so actually have to get my arse out of bed to change him rather than just sticking him in our bed and going back to sleep.

Oh the joys of children Wink

Natalieand · 22/05/2013 15:19

bowlfull I recommend putting him in the bed and sitting by his door with your back to him and every time he gets out I simply put him back without saying a single word too him and then go back to sitting looking away he will soon realise it is not a game and after a few nights the amount of time should reduce x

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 15:21

Yup! Can't link but its on the gro website. Is lying in bed just mucking about with her glass of water and her toys etc. She's potty trained thankfully (she's older i think - 2 years 7 months).

legallyblond · 22/05/2013 15:22

DD is...

BowlFullofJelly · 22/05/2013 15:33

That's kind of what we are doing Natalie, but outside the door - he just legs it back to bed laughing every time we open it Angry.

Will look into the zip in duvet, thanks for the tip. DS is a little younger, 2 years 5 months - potty trained during the day now, but still in nappy at night - and he likes to have his morning constitutional in it before coming to wake up Mummy Hmm. Was kind of hoping to have him settled in his big buy bed before the dreaded night training!

Shirehobbit · 22/05/2013 16:55

Reporting back from our scan and all is good Grin

Definitely an anterior placenta with a very active baby (didn't stay still for a moment) so maybe I should be grateful I can't feel much?!
Also, having been bang on measurements for dates at 12 wks, it's now measuring 1-2 weeks bigger than expected. Has anyone else had this? The sonographer seemed unconcerned by it...

cazboldy · 22/05/2013 17:08

glad all is well shire meant to say, my placenta is anterior too but up really high and to one side, guess that's why i feel all the movements on one side!

Never had that re the dates.....did they actually change your dtaes, or just think it's a bigger baby?

claphammama · 22/05/2013 17:15

congrats shire! And how weird about dates... same questions as caz - did they change your due date? Perhaps your baby had a growth spurt? I guess there are some variations in when and how fast babies grow for each of us...

Re: anterior placentas... according to the 12 weeks scan I have one. However, I've been feeling movements for the last two weeks so thought it had moved... Saying this - pretty much nothing for the last 3 days... apart from occasional pressure low down... it's not really a movement, more like some pressure, something pushing me from the inside. So perhaps my placenta hasn't moved after all... trying not to worry. Do you all with anterior placentas also feel this kind of pressure rather than movement sometimes? very weird!

TheFalconsmistress · 22/05/2013 17:18

Glad scan went well shire :)

Clapham I get that pressure too its like she is pushing on bladder with her kicks a lot although i have to say I have felt her so much more in the last few days. I am now 21+4 xxx
