Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My pulse is ridiculously fast and loud whenever I do any activity at all. And I used to be quite fit, once upon a time...

Kamikazee I'm in tears every week at Holby City at present - pathetic!

And you've all now put the fear into me about nurseries - I've signed up for the one at work, which other people I've spoken to seem to think is ok/good, and its ofsted is 'outstanding', but I've not really looked at any others. It's £1131 per month full time - how does that sound to you all for cost?

frogchops · 20/05/2013 17:12

Oh my! My work nursery is 640 per 4 week month and I still think this is expensive! maybe its reflective of the area in the uk?

Readytosettle · 20/05/2013 17:42

It depends on the hours & location mooster. I'm Surrey so it would be at the cheaper end here....personally i would pay more for the convenience of a nursery at work, well that's if I could guarantee I was in the office 5 days a week...

kimjayne · 20/05/2013 18:39

mrsmango and kitten - Im starting to think maybe my midwife just hasnt come across this pulse thing before maybe? but that doesnt mean its not preg related. And as kitten pointed out our blood flow is highly increased so its likely to be due to this. Kitten I might take a look at the nhs site. Did it mention any treatments for that form of tinitus? im glad its not just me suffering with it anyway.
ION I had my 25 week app this morning, we heard our little mans heartbeat Grin which was fab. And nice and strong between 120 and 140. So all good. My MW said I was her 4th appointment of the day and all those ladies were aug-sept and expecting boys! so looks like our lads are gonna be fighting for girlfriends in south manchester Grin
Ive been told to book my whooping cough vaccine in the next few weeks. My boss is gonna kill me with all these appintments.

CharlW1 · 20/05/2013 19:51

just caught up on the thread after spending a lovely weekend with friends - who also gave me loads of baby clothes that her daughter had grown out of.
kitten and Kim I too have the pulse in my ear and my midwife said it was pregnancy related and is due to increased blood volume - I did have it all the time but it's not been too bad over the past week.

Can not believe I am going to have to start looking at nurseries already! it's all getting very real Smile

Ooh Kimjayne I'm in South Manchester area too and although I'm team yellow pretty certain it's a boy(no idea why, gut instinct!)

How much time in advance is everyone booking nurseries? I'm not sure if my mum will be able to look after the baby-she's offered but is having to look after family member who may be very ill so not sure of situation for a while yet... But don't want to miss the boat..

KamikazeeKid · 20/05/2013 21:58

Frog your ££ are similar to mine. DS does 9 hour days full time.

I applied earlier this year for nurseries for his 15 free hours but not full time nursery years. Am hoping he will continue mostly at childminders

juniper9 · 20/05/2013 22:16

fozzie and kim I'm from south Manchester but moved dawwwwn sauuuth to that London a few years ago.

herewego2 · 20/05/2013 22:47

I'm south Manc too!

PurplePoppySeed · 20/05/2013 23:06

Oh god, how much will child care cost in Surrey? I'd better start looking.... I'm not sure if its better to find somewhere near the station for my commute or somewhere near home, but would make me later getting I work in London, argh-didn't think I'd have to worry about that yet!

PurplePoppySeed · 20/05/2013 23:08

Forgot to ask - is anyone else still feeling sick at all? I'm so fed up of feeling sick all day long!

Kittenkatzen · 20/05/2013 23:40

kim i didn't see any mention of treatments but tbh I only had a very brief look (was at work) will look again tomorrow. charl glad your mw has heard of it, makes me feel better Smile

SGJ · 21/05/2013 07:09

We pay £505 a month for 3 x 10 hour days a week at nursery for DD - I think that falls in the 'quite cheap' bracket, plus I get a 10% discount as I work for a local college. It's Kiddi Caru, which is a national chain, if anyone's considering it? Obviously staffing has a huge impact, but I'd totally recommend it as a company, based on our experience.

CharlW1 · 21/05/2013 07:55

just looking at nurseries on web last night in the local area and it looks like the average for fulltime is just under £1300!! me and my OH were so shocked - will have to start having a look around.

kimjayne · 21/05/2013 08:17

It looks like im the only person on here whos not researched child care yet. Sad It still doesnt feel real enough yet! but I know its going to be way too late to start looking by the time our boy arrives in sept.
Out of curiosity, all those ladies in the south manchester area, how have u found nursery costs so far? im actually in didsbury so I have a feeling the prices are going to be sky high.

kimjayne · 21/05/2013 08:34

charl - im glad your midwife recognised the pulse in ear as a symptom of pregnancy. it makes me feel much better. My midwife seemed surprised I hadnt seen a gp about it. I might ask the doctor about it when I see them for my whooping cough vaccine in a few weeks. But from what ive read online this morning, it doesnt seem like we can do much to treat this form of Tinnitus (if thats what it is).

badguider · 21/05/2013 08:37

I can hear/feel my pulse in bed. Not in my ear but thundering in my chest. It sounds really fast to me but I counted and IRS only 73bpm. Pre pregnancy my resting hr was just under 60 which is pretty low. 73 is totally fine.

TripleRock · 21/05/2013 09:26

Does anyone know if there is a 24 week MW appt for 2nd baby? I've made one, but not sure if I should have?

I'm hoping I can be seen as I want this monster belly measured. Measured it myself last weekend and got 31 and then 29. Either way, massively oversized for my dates... Hoping I just was doing it wrong!

Anyone else been measured?

badguider · 21/05/2013 09:37

I had a 24wk appt but it's my first pregnancy. But I wasn't measured then as she said it was too early. She felt where the uterus is up to and said it was my umbilicus which she said was where she expected it at 24wks.

TripleRock · 21/05/2013 09:54

Is that your belly button?

This is my worry... I swear I look about 7 months gone at least, bump is right up under my boobs to the extent that I'm really uncomfortable already. Don't remember feeling like this so early on last time. Maybe I should keep the appointment regardless?

RunningBear78 · 21/05/2013 10:03

Kim don't worry, haven't even vaguely started thinking about nursery places yet. i had assumed that i'd wait until the boy had safely arrived before needing to think about these things. what happens if it all goes horribly wrong and i have to phone a nursery and tell them i don't need the place any more? just seems all a bit much, but going by what everyone else is experiencing, i suspect i'll have to bite the bullet and go and have a look at some places ... and not think about what might go wrong.

badguider · 21/05/2013 10:18

Yes, uterus should be up to your belly button now - but I am still swollen above that - it's just my internal bits that have been pushed up :)
If you've got the appt anyway and got concerns I'd go along anyway and let the MW have a feel.

fl0b0t · 21/05/2013 11:11

badguider sounds familiar Re: heart thundering in the chest!
Although I know I should be looking at nurseries now, I've found them very ellusive. There's loads in our local area but I can't find much info about prices etc on the web, so I'm going to wing it!

flipflump · 21/05/2013 11:51

Where do you measure to and from? I think I'm massive and worrying about GD, huge baby, cross midwife etc. I was a size 16 pre preg and have gained 10kg - stressing about that too. I know I can do something about it post birth but I'm worried about what all the professionals with say!
