New thread! May it bring lots of good news, funny stories and happy bump mummies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Creamtea1 · 15/05/2013 11:33

Flip - don't stress about it, you can sort it out afterwards Smile

And if I read one more thread in the Pregnancy section where the poster claims to want to know what a 'normal' weight gain is - err hello, have you heard of google? - I will scream. Especially when poster gives no background info about size/weight/height pre preg and then asks if X weight gain at X weeks is ok!!!! Confused

Mooster1709 · 15/05/2013 12:21

Yes! A building site theme! Fits my gender-neutral requirements perfectly! Then the whole house can be themed, rather than just one room...

I think I missed a bit of the discussion on this, but can anyone think of any reasons why a second hand baby monitor might be unsafe? Was planning on getting the angelcare, but obv second hand is much cheaper so am tempted...

weebarra · 15/05/2013 12:41

We haven't really decided where baby will be sleeping yet. DS1&2 have their own rooms but might want to share. We have a spare room but it's currently got a double bed in it and not much room for anything else!
Have a double appt for 28 weeks as need bloods and anti-D.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 15/05/2013 13:32

badguider my mum got it in Arizona in 2009 when on a conference trip, from an outdoors store called REI, but neither of us thought through the accessories you need in the UK, and so I had a total nightmare trying to get a rain cover shipped internationally too!

have just found that they are now selling online in the UK: store.bobgear.co.uk so I am excited to see that I can get a stage 0 seat adapter which means all we need is a compatible seat and an isofix base for the car.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 15/05/2013 13:34

Grin at the building site theme!! that sums up so many places I lived as a kid too...

Readytosettle · 15/05/2013 14:21

Had a much more successful trip to the doc's last night...new doc was lovely & showed much more interest than the midwife. Managed to get the letter and my mat b1 & I heard the heartbeat for the first time! So it all worked out well in the end :-)

We painters our spare room yellow when we moved in (2 years ago) so that we wouldn't have to re-paint for a baby. It's still going to be the office as well (all nicely contained in an alcove) so I don't think we'll babyfy much more than that....apart from this gorgeous blind from John Lewis... m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/little-home-at-john-lewis-abbey-elephant-blackout-roller-blinds/p296870

DH has approved as boy appropriate :-)

Manoodledo · 15/05/2013 15:57

From previous experience the baby will most likely be sleeping in our room for the best part of the first year, so there isn't much rush to think about the baby's room. I tend to find when they're really little it's best if Daddy sleeps in the 'nursery' i.e. spare room anyway. I can do without a grumpy DH...

RunningBear78 · 15/05/2013 16:40

I think I am slightly upset that after putting on 2 stone so far, I was told by a lady in the hairdressers today that I don't even look pregnant!

I now weigh just over 70kg but still fit into non-maternity size 12 dresses (just) ... where has all the weight gone!? It can't all be blood volume surely? How much do boobs weigh - mine are huge and looking hilariously out of proportion.

I think I have bump envy. DH jokes there may be two more babies; one in each of my boobs Blush

If I eat more fig rolls with my bump grow?

PurplePoppySeed · 15/05/2013 16:52

Thanks for all the lovely decorating ideas :)

bear I'm in the same camp as you - have had enormous boobs since week 6 and at 22 weeks I only really look preggers in the evening, in the morning I'm just fat looking! Ive got full on bump envy whenever i see other pregnant women - I WANT A BUMP!!! Grin

kipsonline · 15/05/2013 17:07

Argh, I'm the opposite though, haven't put on a huge amount of weight but have an enormous bump. People keep asking when I'm due and can't believe I have 3 mths to go...probably equally annoying :)

Creamtea1 · 15/05/2013 17:34

Running bear same here - am at 69kilos and boobs are embarrassingly big! started to wear tighter tops to look more bumpy and less fatty but don't like emphasis on the boobs - I'm wearing 36c bras but they just look massive!

Fozziebearmum2b · 15/05/2013 17:51

Ready-LOVE the blinds! We're team yellow and not moved into the house yet, in fact don't even have a date..not panicking so far, and can't wait to get stuck in and settled

In bump news mine is huuuge! Dh keeps joking that its built a games room and is onto another extension-people keep telling me its big, but not put weight on elsewhere. Wondering whether Ill start tipping over in a couple of months as if I keep growing like this it will be so out of proportion!

RunningBear78 · 15/05/2013 18:00

hah Creamtea my 36E's laugh at yours! Grin also going for the tight top look, to emphasise otherwise smallness and the tiny bump, but keep being alarmed to find cleavage practically under my chin when I look down. Also, keep bashing things with them ... like door frames and people Blush I think partly a loss of spatial awareness but partly not quite used to having things stick out in front of me.

I love the fact everyone's body reacts differently to being preggers, I am constantly amazed at how brilliant our bodies are Smile

Fozziebearmum2b · 15/05/2013 18:04

Love the comment about lack of spacial awareness, I got stuck cutting across the office following my usual path of squeezing behind a post, and realised my bump won't fit that way anymore.... Smile

badguider · 15/05/2013 18:10

I weigh 80kg!!! But I am wearing non-maternity linen trousers, yoga pants and trackies in a size 14 with no problem. Also, some baggy tops in a size 16 which are not maternity and some tighter ones in a 14 that are. No idea where i've put all the weight!!

I am now kind of obviously pregnant (24wks tomorrow) but only just and stomach is much smaller than boobs still (which are 36E now).

I think most stretch marks seem to appear underneath the bump and mine doesn't have an underneath yet so I'm pleased about that as I am prone to stretch marks and got them on my hips when I grew as a teenager.

Creamtea1 · 15/05/2013 18:13

On the boob front, do you think it's ok to wear a sports bra? I've got a black one which is so much more comfortable than my non wired thing and makes them a slightly better shape..you would think I should know this as it is my third..but it's been a few years!

frogchops · 15/05/2013 18:26

Boobs haven't grown tooo much, but my bump at 21+5 is big. I can't see my feet when I look down and I can't breathe in/reach without huffing and puffing to sort out the old lady garden. :-/

CharlW1 · 15/05/2013 18:34

have a great holiday jammy very jealous Smile

frog you just made me laugh out Lloyd on the train about puffing and puffing to sort out the lady garden! I have the same issue - do you think it's alright to use hair removal cream down there when pregnant? think it may be a safer option than blindly navigating with a razor!

Readytosettle · 15/05/2013 18:43

I see ur 36E's and raise u 36FF's, but they were 32G before so I haven't grown too much. Re: weighing them, this is an issue I've battled with for years as I think the BMI calcs are seriously unfair to all us busty ladies! Best bet is to fill a bowl of water to the brim, then pop ur boob in & see how much water is displaced (weight differential before & after = weight of boobs). I've never actually been bothered to try this although I might have tried flopping one on the electric scales once but saw it on a tv programme & it seemed to make sense!

ION I ordered a medela swing breast pump from NCT shop for £95 yesterday & it arrived today! Cheapest I've seen so if this is on your list I can def. recommend them.

kimjayne · 15/05/2013 18:44

I'm 24weeks today and my bump seems to be getting huge. Everyone who asks my due date is shocked Im not due sooner. Quite nervous about how much bigger Im gonna get? ? Yikes.
In shaving/waxing news! I have given up shaving my legs now. Not attractive! Tan tights are my saviour. Lady garden pruning is a task and a half. Any tips would be much appreciated. Also struggling to paint toe nails! Any ideas? Smile
On the subject of room colours, we are going for a light duck egg with creams and beige. But random so Im hoping it works. We've bought a second hand rocking chair and painted it cream which is my fave part of the room already. Grin

jennimoo · 15/05/2013 18:57

Mooster - I think your only worry with a 2nd hand monitor would be that the rechargeable battery pack would be a but old and not hold its charge long. You can often replace these with either the spare part from the company or normal rechargables though.

I ordered our monitor today. Tesco gave their club card exchange double up on baby at the mo so if you have £25 of club card vouchers you can get a £50 monitor (or other baby stuff) with them. I had enough to get a video monitor with my vouchers :) 3 years ago I got both monitor and an in ear thermometer for DD so well worth a look.

Fozziebearmum2b · 15/05/2013 19:33

I'm chuckling at the lady garden references and I need to do this but have no idea how to safely do it! The thought of cutting myself makes me shudder Confused

weebarra · 15/05/2013 19:54

Yy to lady garden angst! Take DS2 to a parent & toddler swim class every monday so I can't just let it grow wild, but pruning is getting a bit hard!
And yes, I do keep banging my bump on stuff and opening cupboards into it!

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 15/05/2013 20:29

DS, in the bath with me half an hour ago: "mummy, when the baby has come out, will you have to put your tummy back together again?"

Blush

Yeah, something like that!

flipflump · 15/05/2013 20:41

Ready, I'm crying with laughter at you flopping one out on the scales!! DH was desperate to know what was so funny, couldn't tell him for laughing!

Is it just me that's lost the ability to park, took 3 attempts Confused
