New thread! May it bring lots of good news, funny stories and happy bump mummies!

OP posts:

DP laughs at the unruliness of mine compared to how pruned it was before!! I'm quite shy about it now!
I was at a training conference today (very interesting one about relational stress between mommies and children and how their little brains develop) and I went to the canteen at lunch all huffy cos I couldn't reach the cutlery, butter for my potato, donuts Blush, and cans of pop across the counter because of my bump. :-/

weebarra · 15/05/2013 21:05

Parking, argh! Because of my late-running consultant appt yesterday, I was running late for some work I was doing for a local college.
They'd booked me a visitor's space, which was tiny, and it took me sooo long to manouvere the car into it (and then me to get out the car!).
And this is obviously just after the doc has been saying that they have to watch my bp cos of previous pre-eclampsia!

SGJ · 15/05/2013 21:13

Weebarra, we go to weekly swimming lessons too, have had to opt for maternity tankini with shorts to avoid dealing with garden maintenance!
Just found out today that one of my students is 5 months pregnant and didn't know until yesterday - fair to say she's in quite a state of shock...

flipflump · 15/05/2013 21:27

So glad it's not just me re. parking!!

ION has anyone seen the bit in today's mail about bumps. All the women are due at the same time as Kate. It's amazing how size varies. I know mumsnet is anti DM so won't post a link. I think it's worth a look though.

Readytosettle · 15/05/2013 21:41

It's no laughing matter flip! Years of weight angst has revolved around these bad boys...

Not sure that I fancy the middle girls bump much....there's no way u could avoid inadvertently knocking constantly!

Front & rear parking sensors have prevented too many mishaps so far, but I did manage to cock up a 'drivey thru' space at the hospital the other day....only realised once I'd got out so then had to get back in & re-park Blush

Hello all. Just checking back in as I haven't been on this/these threads for a while. Finally had a sucessful 20 week scan (now 22+3) and I'm having a little girl, who's also now got her wriggle on! She's gone from very few movements, to lots of regular thrashing about! I will be back later to have a proper read through the thread and catch up. I hope you're all well.

Ready you just made me actually lol on the train - i'm now stuck with a mental picture of me trying to manoeuvre a boob onto the scales GrinGrin

I've no idea what I am in kilos but when I weighed myself on the bank holiday weekend I was a fraction shy of 13 stone (normally 11.5/12) DH is convinced i'll weigh more than him by the end - he's 14.5 I can still get into a lot of my regular size 14 tops but as my bump now pokes out past my 36E's (!) I find they're not very flattering. Am planning to invest in a job lot of new look maternity vet tops as they're comfy and I can wear them with anything, including to work.

In hair removal news, I've discovered veet spray on cream which I've been using on my legs easily enough. As for the lady garden, at some point I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and recruit DH to assist! Confused

Congrats on your little pink bump mrsmango, lovely news Smile

RunningBear78 · 16/05/2013 09:46

Oh Ready great mental image of boob weighing! I might actually have to try this.

On the lady garden front, I'm feeling VERY pleased I opted for laser removal some years ago, so mostly quite neat and tidy, although all the promised 'luscious hair growth' I was hoping for on my head seems to be down there Angry but, to save efforts, have been swimming in a cossie with shorts. Just realised the bikini I was planning to take to France in a few weeks is a leeetle smaller so might need a tidy up before I go away.

Parking ... hmm. I'm usually awesome but just took about 5 attempts to park next to the curb. No even having to manoever between cars. Just an empty bit of curb. Sigh.

Lovely news Mango how are we for numbers blue vs pink vs yellow? should we have a tot up at the bottom of the stats list?

Mooster1709 · 16/05/2013 10:42

The lady garden is a disaster. I cannot bend down/ wriggle around enough to see properly, even with much huffing and puffing. Have just been slapping on hair removal cream in a pretty haphazard manner and hoping for the best. I'm never entirely sure whether the full jungle look isn't ultimately better than the ingrown hairs look though, TBH. Maybe waxing is the answer...I have definitely decided that I'm going to have to pay someone to do my toenails/feet in general. I can barely get my shoes on, never mind anything else.

25 weeks today, and my bump is enormous. The rest of me is pretty normal-sized still (I was a pre-preg 12), or at least I like to think so (judging by scales though this is a delusion). Also enormous, and bizarrely itchy, boobs.

RunningBear - did the laser treatment work? Have always been tempted (am Yeti)...

frogchops · 16/05/2013 10:43

I'm mortified by the thought of asking DP to assist with pruning the garden. Is that a bit silly of me? although he does a lovely job of our actual garden??
Right. ION I'm sick of heartburn now. It's constant Confused
I also quite embarrassingly just got overwhelmed with emotional emotionalness purely at the thought of becoming a mommy. So I've sat at my desk stifling tears and sniffs. Everyone will think I'm batshit if I let this one out! Blush

Kittenkatzen · 16/05/2013 10:55

Lol frog maybe I just have no shame Smile although if your DP is that good in the actual garden you might want to watch he doesn't get carried away and have you end up with a bit of topiary down there Grin

I'm with you on being a ridiculous emotional mess - I was fighting back tears at my desk yesterday reading a poster of Dr Seuss quotes on Pinterest....I pictured myself reading bedtime stories to my child and nearly lost it! Loon.

Mooster1709 · 16/05/2013 10:58

Thanks Jennimoo - good point about the batteries in used monitors...

jennimoo · 16/05/2013 11:27

I haven't had too much trouble parking but scratched the bumper on DHs shiny new (to him...) car this morning :( I reckon it's his fault for making me take it to the garage on my morning off.

And I just about managed the lady garden trimming at the weekend, although really struggled to see what I was doing. No early episiotomies here though ;)

badguider · 16/05/2013 11:29

Since it appears to be TMI Thursday - I reckon by careful comparison with bags of sugar and the like that each of my boobs is now weighing around 1.5kg!!
And on the lady garden topic - I don't remove hair, I just clip it short. I used to use scissors but have just bought electric clippers designed for the purpose which can be used without looking (thankfully mine only grows within the swimsuit boundary so as long as it's short it stays hidden).

Readytosettle · 16/05/2013 11:39

running I had IPL on my underarms & it was amazing....until I got pregnant & now all the hair has come back with avengance! Wish someone had warned me to get babies out the way before I splashed the cash!

RunningBear78 · 16/05/2013 11:58

Mooster IPL was pretty good, I was quite furry (what with being a bear and all Wink) which is why I went for it. I think the treatment got rid of about 80-90% of the hair. Immediately after treatment (think it was 4 or 5 sessions) it was great, and only really started growing back noticably during pregnancy. Not a total success, but I think I actually prefer a little light fluff left, being totally naked was quite terrifying! Garden fluff is now a lot thinner than it was, and mostly within swimming cossie boundaries too, which was my main criteria. Also a lot more comfortable to ride a bike too without so much fluff chaffing.

I would definatley recommend it though, although perhaps waiting till after babies as Ready suggests might be a good idea. Pregnancy has definately brought the fluff back!

Badguider 1.5kg is impressive! I might have to get the scales out at lunchtime ....

frogchops · 16/05/2013 12:05

Bear and ready.... Does it hurt? A d is it expensive?

Mooster1709 · 16/05/2013 12:17

Badguider - I have the clippers too, but I'm still unconvinced that nothing will get massacred caught if I wave them around down there without being able to see anything... I suppose I could just leave it nice and long in the middle/key areas!

RunningBear78 · 16/05/2013 12:21

doen't hurt as much as you think it might! a little like being flicked with an elasic band? i did manage to ride home a couple of times afterwards, which i don't think is recommended, but it was fine.

it wasn't super cheap, but i thought it was worth the money compared to the faff and cost of waxing regularly which was my only other serious alternative at the time as I was swimming 3-4 times a week and riding a good 10km+ to work and back every day.

there are always offers on Groupon though for IPL so it might be worth keeping an eye out there and taking advantage of an offer?

Readytosettle · 16/05/2013 12:53

I think it's pretty good value if you get a good package deal from a salon (i think i paid £200 ish for 6 treatments). For me the best thing was losing that permanent black shadow under your arms (where you can never quite shave close enough). Ur not allowed to do it when pregnant & have to avoid any sun exposure during treatment (factor 50).

Not really painful, far less than waxing....agree with the rubber band sensation! Will have to see if hair falls out again after pg....

LCR77 · 16/05/2013 12:58

Extreme emotionalness alert! Having a very up and down week - in fact just come from a little cry in the toilets at work. Anyone else feeling excluded in the workplace? Could be being overly sensitive but I've still got 3 months left to work before mat leave - seems my input isn't valued anymore...

Plus nosebleeds getting worse, started with middle of the night leg cramps last week or so (both calves this morning) and still no baby movement. Wonder if I've had a surge of hormones recently?

Sorry to moan...At least have yoga and a catch up with friends tonight, day off tomorrow and hen do at a spa on Saturday to look forward to. Smile

jennimoo · 16/05/2013 13:21

I'm convinced on the laser treatment! This is the last DC so will definitely look at getting underarms done next year :)

badguider · 16/05/2013 14:52

Mooster - put the fingers of your other hand over the key vulnerable bits :)
