Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PistachioTruffle · 15/05/2013 19:04

I've been using a hair bobble passed through the button hole and around the button to add a little more room to jeans and trousers - I think I'm going to invest in a couple of pairs of maternity jeggings with the narrow jersey waistband after the dating scan though (which I've got the date for, hooray!)

AuroraOrtiz · 15/05/2013 19:27

Hi, can I just ask, is anyone else absolutely freezing? I know it is quite cold at the moment, but I feel unusually cold, and I can't seem to get warm despite having the heating on at full blast and lying under two duvets. It doesn't seem to be a symptom of pregnancy, so maybe it's just me, but just thought if anyone else is feeling particularly cold at the moment?!

Yes, Aurora!!!! I'm utterly frozen all the time. Currently wearing a long sleeves top, a short sleeved top over it and a thick fleece and wrapped in a duvet.

I always went for under bump stuff and that would probably fit from very early on as it's pretty snug around hips and bum. I've not been too bloated though - your digestive system really slows down so little and often prevents massive tummy expansion.

AuroraOrtiz · 15/05/2013 19:37

Thanks Harry and Nom, glad it's not just me!!! Weird though, as doesn't seem to be one of the usual symptoms!

b0nker5Mum · 15/05/2013 20:06

Penguin-everything crossed for you... Hope you have a good break.

I have been quite cold as well... And today a sore throat... Hmm

I was wondering (this is totally off topic but I fear I might be outed if I put it anywhere else!), there are a few of you who work for the nhs on here, how easy is it for you to access data? I ask because I help run a local youth group and when I was sick a few months back the new main leader (who works for the nhs) mentioned she knew was wrong and they'll all know in 9 months (implying I am preg which of course I am but haven't mentioned this to anyone still) and also she keeps talking about one of the girls medical background that only a few of us know (highly confidential) and using it as an excuse to try remove her (which the rest of us are opposed to) anyway, we fear she might be using her job to gain personal information on leaders and the children. Are we being paranoid??

Thanks! Hope you are all starting to enjoy your pregnancy... I'm still not getting the symptoms I thought but clothes def tighter and can't manage to eat very much without feeling full.

mumoftwoboysS · 15/05/2013 20:13

yep unusually cold here too! thought it was weird but didn't think it could be a preg symptom!

MildredH · 15/05/2013 22:06

Bonkers- it depends what kind of role she's in but yes if she has the right log ins she could easily access anyone's info. It's totally prohibited and everyone is told so and have to sign agreements not to inappropriately access any info but if you we're unscrupulous it's not hard.

They say there's a data trail and that IT depts can track what you've been looking at.. I looked up DH sperm analysis at work ( with his knowledge & consent!) and spent weeks worried someone would find out!

Could you confront this person? It's really not on to hint to you that she knows you're pregnant!

MildredH · 15/05/2013 22:07

Argh- if you're unscrupulous

b0nker5Mum · 15/05/2013 22:26

Thanks Mildred, I really don't want to say too much but she says she runs a very busy department... Not sure if its an admin role or nurse (or even of there is a difference) but it is very difficult to confront her because she doesn't listen (not the best skill to have when dealing with teens and young adults!!) there was absolutely no reason for her to suggest I was pregnant as I honestly had a sickness bug and it was very early on, it really wouldn't have crossed anyone else's mind.. I'm not in the obvious position for planning a baby (even tho this was very much planned!)...

Holly1977 · 16/05/2013 10:52

Thanks guys, you're right. I found an old bra from when I was a bit bigger this morning and it's lovely! Boobs feel properly supported and contained (!) for the first time in ages. It's an E cup!! so that's 2 cup sizes already. Gah. I'll see if I can get a few more weeks out of this then go get fitted for another one. It's a bit hideous tbh but I don't care at this point. Think I'll go to Bravissimo. They're more expensive than M&S but are really good and as I'm quite petite so have a very small back (30in) but stupidly big boobs for my size, it's the only place that stocks such odd sizes. What do we think of the whole "no underwire in pregnancy" rule? I haven't worn a non underwired bra since I was a teenager.

So worried I'm going to end up with boobs like my mum's. Big boobs are all well and good but only to a certain point. Oh well, don't suppose there's much I can do about it apart from not get too fat!

Do we think normal body moisturiser on tum, boobs, bum, legs etc (applied daily) will be enough to minimise stretch marks or should I be using bio oil or whatever?

Hair bobble's a great idea, thanks!

There's LOADS of maternity stuff on ebay and it mostly seems to go quite cheap.

froubylou · 16/05/2013 11:09

Holly Im the same as you and gone up quite a bit, from an e/f to a g! Gone for wirelesd and am quite surprised how supportive, if unattractive they are lol.

Am now 8+2 and cautiously optimistic about everything now. We have been 3 years ttc and had more or less given up. Seeing the mw on tues helped a lot.

Anyone else faced the horrors of one born every minute yet? Just found series 14 onte iplayer. It was like watching polergeist for the first time at 13 lol.

NomDeClavier · 16/05/2013 11:26

I have intention of giving up my underwire! It's just important to keep checking that they got properly and aren't compressing any of the breast tissue, particularly when milk production starts.

Holly1977 · 16/05/2013 13:02

That's it isn't it, I'm not prepared to look all frumpy and horrible this early on! A well fitting bra won't have any of the wire sticking into the breast tissue so I think it's fine.

I'm starting to feel more optimistic too, I think the more pregnant I feel (and look!). it's still early days though, not allowing myself to be completely optimistic for a while yet.

Holly1977 · 16/05/2013 13:19

My leggings have arrived, they're sooooo comfy! Bit too big around the waist really, have had to roll them down at the top. But there's plenty of room to grow into them. They're a bit thin too, still need to wear a long top as you can basically see my knickers through them! Omg though, what a relief! I didn't realise how uncomfy my jeans were until I put these on! Never really owned a pair of leggings, may have to rethink my whole wardrobe! The jeans I'm watching on ebay are ending in 30 minutes and are only £2.70 at the mo. This could be my lucky shopping day!

FluffyDucky · 16/05/2013 13:20

Mmm I'd so love to have a nice thick juicy RARE bit of sirloin steak with a fried egg (runny) mushrooms & a baked tattie! drool..
Might have to get some but just cook it well.

FluffyDucky · 16/05/2013 13:21

Holly out of work I am now living in either stretchy tracksuit bottoms or pjs! It's such a relief isn't it!

LadyMedea · 16/05/2013 13:23

Greetings from not quite sunny today Greece. Just by the indoor pool so wi fi! No more bleeding so trying to hang on until scan which is a week today (will be 12 or 12+2 if you adjust for my cycle, which midwife didn't, strange).

Trying not to think about mmc, although know a friend who didn't find out until 12 week scan so fairly paranoid. Still managing to have a nice time on holiday as this is our first beach holiday in 7 years, last one was the honeymoon!

Holly1977 · 16/05/2013 13:34

It's amazing. The first time I've been comfy in anything but PJs or horrible old tracky bottoms for a while now! With my boobs being well ensconced too, it's a great day! Still can't believe how early I've had to resort to maternity stuff. I think it's just that, while I'm not that much bigger yet, it's really uncomfy to have it constricted / squashed at all. Whereas before when it was just belly flab, I could squeeze into my skinny jeans all day and be fine.

Fluffy, I personally think pink beef is fine as long as you know its provenance and that it's lovely and fresh, has been well refrigerated before etc etc. And all British hens are immunised against salmonella so eggs with the British stamp on are fine too. I've had both with no ill effects. Well cooked beef is horrible! My dad does a lovely roast every Sunday, couldn't miss that!

Fingers crossed Lady, enjoy the sunshine. Think we're sacrificing our holiday this year in favour of house renovations!

FluffyDucky · 16/05/2013 13:54

Lady it sounds lovely, I hope you are able to relax & enjoy it the best you can!
Holly I know what you mean about well cooked beef, a word for that where I am from is 'choch' meaning chewy & tough. I like my steak still twitching so not sure I could bring myself to cremate it.
I've booked myself in for a luxury pedicure & a shoulder, neck & back massage for saturday. Worth the spend I think Grin

Holly1977 · 16/05/2013 14:03

Exactly, I like my beef to moo when I cut into it! I'm having it slightly more well done than before being pg but still pretty pink.

Just been outbid by 1p on the jeans I REALLY wanted, gah! Bloody ebay!

mumoftwoboysS · 16/05/2013 14:33

I'm bidding for some shorts on ebay right now....(so don't any of you lot bid! just kidding!)

Just spent a small fortune on swimwear for my boys so I get mine off ebay- how is that fair? Actually I don't care, I won't be using maternity shorts that much this summer as I won't fill them but as we're going cycling on holiday I thought it could be really uncomfortable if I'm sat on a bike leaning forward with shorts digging into my belly!

I found my leggings I use for pilates sooo comfy so I use them to lounge around in. Leggings are bliss compared to jeans right now, just had to undo mine whilst sitting reading a book with my son- ouch!

froubylou I've been watching OBEM - had a few recorded and have been suitably horrified one minute and crying the next! One I watched with an 18yo and she was so young and I just felt for her going through all that pain and looking so bewildered! She looked tiny too, hardly had any bump!

Nearly threw up this morning- first time I've properly gagged- I know some of you have been sick and this is nothing but for me I felt so green and horrid....

when does the nausea wear off generally? I'm hoping week 9 is the worst then I'll start feeling better....

Holly1977 · 16/05/2013 15:04

Ha ha, I was just thinking maybe someone on here outbid me on those jeans! I've won (bought!) some other ones now, not as nice though :-(

Have never watched OBEM. Was too broody before I got pg and daredn't now!

I may never take these leggings off, they're the most comfy thing I've ever worn. Am going to see how much more time I can get out of my swimming costume. Would rather not buy one second hand but the new ones are quite pricey. Probably worth it as I swim quite a lot. It's so annoying how much money we have to spend before bean even comes along.

I can't brush my tongue any more as that makes me gag but that's the worst it's been, sorry!

MultipleMama · 16/05/2013 16:39
