Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
redwellybluewelly · 01/05/2013 20:34

sunbeam those are rhe ones I have, the seam really really cuts in. Gutted as I bought two pairs and second pair is barely worn.

MrsBri · 01/05/2013 20:36

Learner, I've been willing Baby B to sleep as he's been so active / painful today. I've been given a real battering!

And I stopped wearing my under bump New Look jeans the other week. Far too uncomfortable now.

Steff, I get period type pains. If your bump goes hard at the same time it's BH. If not, it's ligaments stretching. My midwife friend is very useful indeed :-)

redwellybluewelly · 01/05/2013 20:39

Thanks for tip about the new look range. My PJs will have to go back, I bought basic primark ones are can't live with the ethics of them so they are being returned . If I've got some cash left after holiday ill get another pair of jojo leggings.

I'm tempted to write a review on th JJMB website for those jeans, they weren't that cheap and will be rubbish after my section.

Sunbeam18 · 01/05/2013 21:44

I agree, red - those jeans are a poor show.

Yes, am having period-like pains too. Just every now and again, and with back ache. Was bit concerned about it in light of some of us going into hospital, etc. Do you think it's normal at this stage?

DontmindifIdo · 01/05/2013 21:47

Sunbeam - my Mamas and Papas ones are also digging in, but then I'm putting that down to the fact that there is no way my arse hasn't expanded at least one dress size....

Littlemissexpecting · 01/05/2013 21:55

I'm also getting period pain if that helps? Again not sure if its normal or not?
I now have the very glamorous cankles!
My m+p jeans no longer fit but finding the jjmb leggings very comfy!

MrsBri · 01/05/2013 22:20

I've been told period type pain is normal...and the fact a fair few of us have it backs that up, I'd say!

Sunbeam18 · 01/05/2013 22:44

Anyone else struggling to breathe after tiny exertions like climbing the stairs? I hate the tight feeling under the boobs, like my lungs are compressed. Struggling now - roll on next Friday when I can finish work and get downtime.
Are you all staying reasonably close to home from here onwards? Am wondering about visiting family during mat leave but bit nervous about being more than an hour away from the hospital.

forgetmenots · 01/05/2013 22:53

Me sunbeam. Baby likes kicking into my ribs and it feels like pressure on my lungs!! I'm staying close to home but I'm a bit of a scaredy cat at the best of times.

Still feeling healthy and happy, but I feel almost as tired as I did at ten weeks again! Definitely need to stop work!

pinkbear82 · 01/05/2013 23:14

cycle hope things are going on ok and by now perhaps you have full sets of night clothes!!

successful day today, managed to order lots of little bits for hospital bag for me and bubs. so although it may not all be in one bag yet, I technically have it all!
pushchair also arrived, went together dead easy (and my dad has since given it the once over and declared I did a good job Smile )
nursing bras also arrived and are ace. and while sorting thru crap and trying to sort Stuff to make sure money wise I'm not too bogged down I managed to complain to the back and get £63 back from them for a mistake they made. didn't even have to cry!!

just need to get a mattress for the Moses basket and one for the cot and apparently I may be organised enough to have a baby.....oh I probably need to build the cot and changing table, probably more helpful out of boxes than in!

in not so successful news my ginger ninja of a cat hasn't been Home since yesterday morning and hasn't come despite calling and treat shaking. starting to worry now, his sister keeps meowing for him too. hoping he'll appear over night. fingers crossed.

cyclecamper · 01/05/2013 23:40

I have enough clothes now. I realise that my husband totally failed to pay attention to what I was telling him on sunday.

Steff, I had severe period pains on Monday and Tuesday when I came in. I should call the midwife or assessment unit tomorrow, especially if you have diarrhoea, pink discharge or back ache. I was admitted because of the slow puncture, but the period pain was taken seriously - by the time I'd been hanging around the various bits of the maternity wing all morning yesterday, I was really struggling with the cramps and they were making me feel weak and going down my thighs. A few hours in bed on the ward and it calmed down.

AlohaMama · 02/05/2013 00:20

cycle, glad you finally have what you need! now you can, er, relax(?) till baby arrives...

pinkbear, you sound very productive. probably might be helpful to build the cot, but then if you're using a moses basket at first, there's no rush. changing table might be more useful out of the box though! hope you find your cat too.

sunbeam, i wouldn't worry about restricting your travel too much (unless it's just uncomfortable). is this your first? in which case I would have thought you'd have plenty of time to get to the hospital from your family if you needed to. people often spend quite a few hours labouring at home before they want you at the hospital anyway. just make sure you take some towels for the car and your hospital bag with you just in case!

just splashed out and bought a new sleep/nursing bra, admittedly the last one has nearly frayed completely. am wearing all my nursing bras from last baby now which are lovely and comfy. might have to dig out the big pants though, much to my dh's disgust!

Sunbeam i've just turned down a fabulous looking hen do in sheffield next weekend (i'm edinburgh). While i feel great i took advice from others on how far they travelled when that pregnant (will be 36 weeks).

Had to deal with a very gross cyst thing bursting on the dog today. Although according to the vet it is something far more exotic (of course) and gross and needs operating on which will cost £200!!! . Scary thing is because of its location pooch is in danger of contracting meningitis. Poor pooch.

Pink you are welcome to take my ginga cat. He's the Victor Meldrew of the cat world and is referred to by friends and family as 'That evil cat'. - i'm really selling him aren't I?

Littlemissexpecting · 02/05/2013 05:48

I would agree mrs Bri definitely put my mind at ease that in not the only one with period type pain.
With regards to the travelling, I'm thinking about a 5 hour train journey at 36 weeks but not sure. The thought of going into labour where I'm visiting isn't a problem, its the thought of not having DH there, or my hospital bag etc. but I thought train would be better than driving?

Littlemissexpecting · 02/05/2013 05:49

Sunny has your car made an appearance yet?

Littlemissexpecting · 02/05/2013 05:49

5.30am clearly doesn't work for me.
CAT not car!!

Sarah2506 · 02/05/2013 06:57

I miss sleep so much. It's now at the point where a few hours is a good night. Urgh. Was still awake at one and awake before six. Sent DH to spare room but can hear him snoring through wall!

Had NCT breastfeeding session last night. She managed to annoy me a lot. Really condescending and dismissive of problems. All about linking pretty much every possible positive health outcome to breastfeeding. I get there are lots of benefits, I want to do it but she just makes me feel that if I can't I am massive failure. Annoying,

cyclecamper · 02/05/2013 07:59

I had a chat to the midwife this morning and said I hoped the baby turned up today because it would carry on my sister's pattern: she has 5 - born in January, February, March, December and April and in order on: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. The last was on her due date, which was commendably organised for a newborn, we felt! (So was the 3rd). The midwife said Don't, because I pass 34 weeks tomorrow and if it arrives today, it will automatically go to Special Care and if it comes after tomorrow we will come back to the post-natal together. My desire not to have a baby in special care only just overrides my tidy mind Grin! It seems a bit odd to have such an arbitrary cut off date, especially since my due date is equally arbitrary because I have no idea when my LMP was.

pinkbear82 · 02/05/2013 08:00

still no cat this morning Sad going to do a few leaflets for the neighbours and call the local Vets. he is microchiped and from past experience that saves a lot of anguish if the worst has happened.

hope everyone has a good day. x

grainmum · 02/05/2013 08:18

cycle I'd be very surprised if they have so many beds on special care they'd give them away purely for a number irrespective of clinical condition! Hope it all goes well for you - really must pack hospital bag now...

learnermummy · 02/05/2013 08:20

Hope you find your cat today pink.

Sunny I went to a hen do at 37 weeks with my first that was 150 miles away from home and I drove myself!!Shock Admittedly I declined the Alton towers part! Possibly a bit silly but did take my notes and bag just in case! Missed the wedding as gave birth 2 days before.

My dragging DS1 round the shops day has been ruined as he's woken with a temperature and headache Hmm.

Olimoss · 02/05/2013 08:27

Sarah - I was exactly the same with the NCT session. Even mentioned it on the feedback form, saying I'd have preferred a balanced 'feeding options - pros and cons' session and then been able to make my OWN, informed decision.

Everyone keep your babies in as long as you can!

cyclecamper · 02/05/2013 08:35

Hope your cat turns up pink. Our next door neighbour's cat went missing for months - turned up 5 miles away when the family that he'd been living with finally got around to taking him to the vet to check his tag. It was a bit odd for such a timid cat - he's only really let me stroke him in the last month and I've lived next door for 4 years!

Grainmum I'm going to ask the day midwife when I see her, to find out what the situation is. I think they might just give them a few hours to watch for problems or something. I'm feeling crampy again today Sad.

DontmindifIdo · 02/05/2013 08:53

PinkBear - not sure what it's like where you are, but it's been glorious weather here so lots of people getting lawns mowed, it could be your cat has sneeked into someone's shed and got shut in. Can you ask your neighbours to check sheds and garages?

Sarah - pity the NCT breastfeeding classes haven't improved in the last few years, we all complained after ours, I pointed out we had gone out on a snowy evening in December when we had ours to go to a breast feeding class - we would only have done that if we were already sold on the idea of breastfeeding, it would have been nice to have a lesson that actually told you how to breastfeeding, showed pictures of what a good latch looks like, discussed typical problems etc, rather than one that was just about why you should.

MrsBri · 02/05/2013 09:34

Littlemiss, if one of my best friends wasn't a midwife I think I'd go mad. She's been very patient with all my questions about this that and the other! She would prefer I go to where she works for the birth as she knows all their emergency procedures and would relax more when I go into labour, bless her! Sadly it's over 2.5 hours' drive, so not practical.

I actually had the period pains while I was typing last night! Getting kind of used to them now.

Pink, I hope your cat shows up very soon.

Sarah, when do you finish work? Must be hard to keep going with that little sleep.

I'm still sleeping relatively OK, apart from my bottom leg going dead, do having to change sides every hour or so. Poor baby, being flipped so often! I'm lucky as I've only had to get up for a wee twice in the night to date. Waiting for it to go to pot!

The weather is so gorgeous here, but I'm up to date with the washing. I always feel like I should wash everything when the weather is like this, to get it hung outside!

Baby B is still waving his arse and legs around today. One day he will choose a position and stick to it!!
