Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

Hope you are both ok, cycle and arlandria. Keep us posted.

arlandria666 · 30/04/2013 14:56

i am still here but they monitored baby for half hour and he is fine still breech!
also while i have been here a woman was having her baby turned just behind some curtains so we heard everything which didn't sound much fun! it was unsuccessful and they booked her section not what i wanted to hear today :-(
blood pressure steadied out but had some blood taken saw a doctor and now waiting to be sent home i hope!!
cycleclamper hope everything is okay can't believe how quick its all coming round now x x x

learnermummy · 30/04/2013 15:12

That's good news arlandria. Why don't you try something 'alternative' for turning baby like acupuncture, or I think Red mentioned moxibustion.

Hope you're OK cycle.

Sarah2506 · 30/04/2013 15:57

EEk Cycle hope you are ok!

And Oli that's pretty much how it is on this side of London as well. Except the other day the loo roll ran out and I had to waddle through to get some more, telling DH this was something we would never speak of again.

I am working at home today. By that I mean sitting in the noise of a continually running washing machine and tumble dryer as I thought I'd crack on with washing the Small Girls clothes. I personally think this is a bit unnecessary but sod it, we have a tumble dryer now!

I am actually dreading finishing work now. Being a solicitor is so much a part of my identity and has been for over a decade that I'm not sure quite how to leave that behind for what could be over a year. It's one thing to go on leave but when I leave next Friday that is leaving to HAVE A BABY. And that's frickin huge. How can I possibly be ready for that?!

Mrs Bri was wondering how maternity leave affects your journey towards qualification? How is it being managed and will you just pick up where you left off?

SunnyL · 30/04/2013 16:10

Oh dear - sounds like you are all falling apart on here.

Is there anyone else still on the healthy bus with me?

Arlandria - someone gave me a sheet of yoga stretches that are meant to be helpful in turning a breech baby. NCT also has some tips www.nct.org.uk/birth/breech-birth.

Apparently at the hospital here in Edinburgh they will allow to deliver naturally a breech baby as they are trained in it. Not all hospitals have the skills though apparently.

learnermummy · 30/04/2013 16:40

Save a space for me on the healthy bus Sunny Grin

AlohaMama · 30/04/2013 16:40

just occasional heartburn and sciatica. Oh and possible varicose vein down there plus piles, but relatively speaking I think that counts as healthy, right?

Hope everything is OK cycle and arlandria.

Gina , we can moan together while we're still at work and everyone else is on mat leave. I think someone else was finishing late, was it you, red? I'll find out at next appointment on Mon when I can get signed off. Last time I wanted to have every one of the 12 weeks leave with the baby so didn't want to waste any days by taking off before ds was born. This time as I know I'm not going back I can afford to leave a bit earlier but I think 2 wks before due date is the max they can sign off.

Aloha do they to just end up with a lot of very grumpy rather large very pregnant people where you are?
Hope everyone being monitored is doing ok,
Went to see my midwife today for my 34 week appt, she doesn't seem concerned about his size, that's cause she won't be giving birth to him!
They still think he's gonna go full term, I don't, she did say, the measurements may be either way ie bigger that 7lb5!
I'm just hoping gravity will be my friend on the day

SunnyL · 30/04/2013 17:47

Of course when I say 'healthy' it is all relative considering I just stopped at the pharmacy for:

Fybogel = mild constipation

Canesten = mild thrush

Support stockings = irritating varicose veins.

Otherwise I'm a picture of health Grin

SunnyL · 30/04/2013 17:48

And super sexy of course - goes without saying.

DontmindifIdo · 30/04/2013 18:11

Sunny - I'm feeling ok now, nothing a couple of days achieving feck all do for you!!

Keep packing the maternity bag - so going home outfit, what are we packing? Last time I went home in a breast feeding tshirt, mat jeans, cardie and trainers, but was thinking if I have a c section, would maternity jeans be uncomfy on the cut? Was thinking a dress might be easier, but I have no breastfeeding dresses. (this might be a gap in my wardrobe) possibly a wrap dress... (can you tell I've left work, nothing better to worry about!!!)

MrsBri · 30/04/2013 18:12

Cycle and Arlandria, I hope you're both OK. Keep us posted.

Just completed my last day in the office. 2.5 working days on the sofa left now. I'm currently on the train with my helium balloons! I was given some vouchers which was nice, plus others will buy us stuff when Baby B is born and the sex is known.

Sarah, they have to apply to the SRA for an extension and I pick it up when I get back. Had my 3 month appraisal today, which is why I was in the office.

I'm not too bad, as healthiness goes, though I appear to have developed sciatica while at work. Boo!

AlohaMama · 30/04/2013 18:13

steff, by US standards 12 weeks is considered to be actually quite generous! If I hadn't been here long enough I'd have only qualified for 6 weeks. Goes without saying I know very few mothers who work here.
As for size, I do hear lots of people say they were warned about a big baby that never transpired. At least they can check again at the next scan.

sunny, support stockings, sexy indeed - it's only going to get worse, nursing bras, leaky boobs, spongy belly, worse constipation/piles Wink

DontmindifIdo · 30/04/2013 18:16

oh yes, I was told that DS was big and "outside the normal range" Shock - in the end he was 7lb3oz - but then did turn up at 38 weeks, so might have been big if he was on time/late...

DontmindifIdo · 30/04/2013 18:18

oh has anyone else had to go for MRSA swabs? Where do they swab?? [panic]

AlohaMama · 30/04/2013 18:28

dontmind, no idea on swabs. but on to more important things, 'going home outfit'. I'd avoid jeans as less comfy plus it's hard to judge how big you'll be. dress would be more comfy i'd have thought. does it matter if it's not an ideal bf-ing dress, as long as you can hoik down the top? if you're only wearing it to get from hospital to home are you going to need to bf along the way? I would think wrap dress would work, and anything made with jersey material will be easy to pull down.

arlandria666 · 30/04/2013 18:31

home now and feet up! had blood taken and have to see midwife twice a week now my little baby boy is currently hicuppiing away oblivious to it all :-D
7 days at work and counting down x

DontmindifIdo · 30/04/2013 18:41

Thanks Aloha - think wrap dresses would work, last time I went on the principle I'd be about 5months sized, so wrap dress I wore then might be best...

cyclecamper · 30/04/2013 18:44

I'm in the antenatal ward. I'm actually feeling better than I have for a few days! I think because I know they are watching for problems and I don't need to worry about getting a cab up here in the middle of the night. I'll be here for a couple of days and if it all stops I'll go home with antibiotics. It's nice not to feel guilty about sitting around with my computer!

pinkapples · 30/04/2013 18:47

I'd consider myself relatively healthy at the moment sunny littleness bit of indigestion and knackered all of the time but I'm alright rreally Grin

I'm not finishing work until the end of may (31st) so baby fingers crossed will be here on the 12th June so I get about a week wore she arrives so close now ahhhhhh!!

RueDeWakening · 30/04/2013 19:41

Dontmind I got MRSA swabbed a couple of weeks ago, had to swab my fanjo and nose?! Random but there you go - the midwife gave me the kits, and very specific instructions, then sent me off to the toilets to do it.

I've heard nothing about it since, so have no idea whether they found anything or not.

bshorty · 30/04/2013 20:15

Dontmind when our patients are admitted to hosp we do mrsa swabs in each nostril, under each arm and each side of the groin. Sorry for being quiet ladies, very boring pregnancy here. Swollen feet has been the worst of it. Am on annual leave for three Weeks then will start Mat leave. Unfortunately I'm like my dad and only really talk when it might be useful. Not very good at conversation. Sorry pink that your partner won't be with you for a couple of months. Glad your family are there to support you.

ginauk84 · 30/04/2013 20:26

Yes I guess am relatively healthy, been measuring spot on, not had to see any consultants etc. Belly just really aches after I walk the dogs but other than that I feel fine.

Re going home outfits, think am just going to use a maxi dress to go to hospital in and to come home in. That's the plan anyway as all my other maternity clothes are jeans and work trousers so I don't think they would be very comfy.

Re maternity leave, am working 4 day weeks up until I leave on 7th June so it's nice to have a bit of a rest and still work. Then a years maternity plus about another months worth of holiday so won't be back till July 2014!! Yeah! :)

DontmindifIdo · 30/04/2013 20:34

bshorty and rue - thank you - so not too bad then...

pinkbear82 · 30/04/2013 22:10

Hope everyone having stubborn little people are doing ok - glad you are being kept an eye on. Very important.

Dragged my mum along to ante natal today, and also informed her rather than being support birthing partner she's now in on her own and also has to keep mil out of the room..... Suddenly in mil eyes I can't do anything and need 50 phone calls to check I'm ok and that she should almost step into dp's shoes.... Understand she's all over the place too, but I'm so close to my parents they'll always be my first port of call and I'm fiercely independent too. Will try and not yell at her to bugger off and calm down but I can't promise!

Quiet day from bubs today, but have been quite stressed and sorting stuff out and quiet tired so guessing bubs is too. Have felt little wiggles so not overly worried and at gp in the morning an the midwife is in surgery on a Wednesday too so can always ak for quick check!

Thank you for all the lovely, non judgy support. You are all lovely x
