Ha, yes Indecisive - no one really tells you about the less glamorous side of pregnancy beforehand. I think its because the human race might die out if they did Grin

That said, despite being the size of a small spacehopper, I do love being pregnant - I love feeling the little one moving around inside me and wondering what their personality will be like.

TotallyEggFlipped · 24/04/2013 16:41

Ah, the glamours of pregnancy. I've been incredibly windy lately. I keep letting out sneaky farts at work Blush. Haven't been caught yet though and luckily they seem to be mostly fairly quiet and not particularly malodorous!! hopefully that's not just because I have a cold

Someone at work just commented that my bump seems to have suddenly expanded overnight, which made me Smile, but my arms seem to be getting scrawny. What's that all about??

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 24/04/2013 18:30

I've been letting out sneaky ones at work when I can for some time. .unfortunately had an unexpected not-so-cheeky one in the toilets the other day and had to wait for everyone to leave! Blush

Beginningofthejourney · 24/04/2013 18:38

Hi everyone, good to see everyone is feeling glamorous!
I had one of my extra scans today (due to IVF) bubba is still big! Long legs, 95th centile or head and tummy [shocked] estimated weight is 3lbs 6oz, bump is measuring perfect for dates so I'm in denial that bubba is big!! Got another scan beginning of June (just before I'm due to go to Wales for very good friend's wedding!) so will have a rough idea about bubba's final weight!
Any Facebook people had an Oliver update today?

Runswithsquirrels · 24/04/2013 18:41

I haven't seen an Oliver update on FB so far today.

Hai1988 · 24/04/2013 18:56

Hi everyone, another thread my godness you lot can talk :)

Sorry so many posts cant mention everyone but just wanted to say Congratulations to shiv My thoughts go out to little Oliver

Also congrats on the 4d scan going well ellie

A few updates here are had my 4d scan and all is well, we had it confirmed that we are indeed having a girl which put my mind at rest.

Also had my 28 week mw app this week and all is good there, bloods just came back as slightly anemic (sp?) but other than that all good and healthy.

Having the whooping cough Jab on Friday, not looking forward to that (needle phobic) but it must be done.

Just been sorting through my clutter in the flat atm getting ready for the move which unfortunately will probably now not be under late June which is cutting it fine a bit but want to be in the new house and have nursery done before she arrives really so,will just have to take it easy and let others really help out with moving day.

Hope everyone is keeping well :)

28+5

Hai1988 · 24/04/2013 18:56

ooo and forgot to ask how do i find the facebook group??

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 24/04/2013 19:11

Hai have pm'd you about the group as its a secret group.

princessllama · 24/04/2013 20:07

Twinkle, not sure if I missed a post when I was on holiday, but how is your baby's heart complications? Did you get your referral?
Notprincess sorry about shingles, all you need!
Shiv hope today was a good day.
Does anyone have a good list/ know of a good one for newborn kit?- I know more or less what I'll need but not quantities. Ie for Muslims etc

MarieKL · 24/04/2013 20:15

Thanks for the cheese advice. Schro I love the idea of breadsticks, may have to go via the shops tomorrow, in the meantime it's crumpets and cheese for tea.

Indecisive Glad you're feeling better. It's so hard to know what to worry about and what's just a normal part of pg.

Interesting thoughts about the mist sprays. I can't stand them generally, irrational fear about having water sprayed in my face, but given how hot labour wards are I can see me fancying one whilst in labour. Will investigate poundland.

Grannyapple, I hope your GTT went okay, and Palocoee* hope everything is okay with you too.

Has everyone else been offered the Whopping cough jab? My MW hasn't even mentioned it!

MarieKL · 24/04/2013 20:18

Princess, no idea on lists, but with DS I brought one packet of 16 Muslims thinking that was a crazy amount and within a week had brought another pack as DS seemed to bring up milk at every feed! He now carries them around as comforters so well worth the investment!

dinkystinky · 24/04/2013 20:53

Lol at the stealth (and not so stealthy) farts!

Hai glad you had a good 4d scan. Beginning - stay in denial! I grow big babies - ds1 was a 9 over and ds2 was 8 lbs 6 oz when born at 38 weeks - both over 91st percentile but it was fine.

Lol at the investing in Muslims. I think baby books and pregnancy magazines normally have the kinds of lists you are looking for Princess llama.

Abzs · 24/04/2013 22:11

My dh has bought a bale of 60 terry cloths he found in the auto parts aisle at Costco. Rather cheaper than any packs of muslin ones that I've seen, and more substantial. I might even let him have a couple for cleaning the car with.

I've arrived home from the south lands with a big pile of stuff DB2 & SIL2 had in storage, so there'd better be good weather in may when I finish work so I can tackle washing it all.

dinkystinky · 25/04/2013 06:31

Shiv posted on FB last night - another mixed day for Team Oliver. On the plus side, he has put on 20grams, is off the jaundice light and has opened his eyes for the first time. Unfortunately his blood pressure isn't stable, meaning possible transfusions needed which are a potential issue due to the grade 4 and 2 bleeds on his brain, and he is now developing morphine resistance. So, small steps forward, but team Oliver, and Shiv and her DH, will need us all to send them love and strength, and keep them in our prayers, still.

TotallyEggFlipped · 25/04/2013 07:07

Thanks for the update, dinky

BB01 · 25/04/2013 11:01

TK Maxx have some lovely reusable wipes in at the mo. Sorry I can't remember the brand but it's quite a luxurious one. They seem about half the RRP and are soooo soft!

MrsRoss26 · 25/04/2013 11:04

Thanks for the update dinky (can't access FB at work!) Here's hoping that Oliver keeps gaining weight and improving. He's always on my mind at the moment.

photographerlady · 25/04/2013 11:31

Hai1988 glad to hear everything is well, what sort of things do they cover in your 28 week appointment? heard anything about anti-d?

Hows everyone's baby buying going? Prams, Cots, chair/swings, slings, clothes etc. Much left to get or haven't you started yet?

dinkystinky · 25/04/2013 12:22

Baby buying done and dusted here Photographer - with the exception of an enormous pot of sudocreme (top tip for first timers - after the first couple of weeks, when putting baby to bed at night time slap on a huge layer of barrier cream when doing the last change of the night) - it means you wont need to change them again in the night and will avoid fully waking them up that way. Got given that tip by a doula/ex special care nurse after I had ds1. Regardless of the sex of this baby its going in all DS1 and DS2's old stuff - just need to wash it all.

Abzs - sounds like you're all set for baby now (washing aside). Have the caravans moved on?

Hai1988 · 25/04/2013 13:12

Photographer My 28 week check just consisted of urine sample check, blood tests, bp test, measured bump and heard heartbeat heard. Also was told to book appointment for the whooping cough jab, which mine is tomorrow :(

Baby Buying almost done, just need some more sheets for moses basket, then just the feeding side of things (steriliser, bottles, formula ect..)

Other than that think im all done, although I'm sure ll find an excuse to buy more stuff :)

MrsRoss26 · 25/04/2013 14:15

Blimey, you're doing well Hai! We have so far bought a moses basket, have a pram on order, had a few outfits / knitted goodies given by relatives, and been given a Baby Bjorn carrier. Other than that, we're picking up a second hand cot from an eBay seller this weekend and that's it! I can't wait to find other furniture for the baby's room so I can organise toiletries, buy nappies and decorate generally.

I like the sudocrem and wipes tips dinky and BB01, thanks.

I seem to have moved back into heartburn territory this week. Is anyone else wincing with this wondrous pregnancy issue?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 25/04/2013 15:24

Hey everyone, just checking in.

Glad to see people getting on with the buying things! We have a pram (double) and a couple of outfits but so far, that's it.

MrsRoss I have acid reflux right now, it's fecking horrible. I've been using those Gaviscon instant powder things and ranitadine they work quite well.

Knackered today, got to sleep after 2am after spending practically the full day in Maternity Assesment for the second day running and was up at 6am this morning looking for my cat. Hmm Had another productive day spent in hospital today, peeing on mirrors! :o

BB01 · 25/04/2013 16:14

We've been given nearly everything we need (mostly secondhand) from lovely friends and family so keep thinking we have nothing left to buy. However, every conversation I have with someone who's recently had a baby has gone like this:

Me: 'What do I need to buy?'
Them: 'Oh hardly anything! Babies don't need much!! OH but you MUST get such and such...it was my one must-have thing I didn't know I'd need until the time'...

Cue getting back onto ebay for another shopping expedition :-)

BB01 · 25/04/2013 16:17

Photographer, I had my anti-d booked when I went for an early anti-d shot (after falling over!!) but otherwise mw would have booked it at my last appointment (which I think was more like 26 weeks rather than 28). Are you rhesus negative too?

shelley72 · 25/04/2013 16:26

ooh i love baby or any other type of shopping!

we finally went up to the loft yesterday and got down our moses basket which was surprisingly dirty given that it had been well wrapped and that DD only used it twice! took all of the covers off and soaked them in napisan overnight and given it a lovely hot wash today and it seems to be as good as new. just need to buy a new mattress.

if the baby is a boy we probably wont need to buy anything clothing wise for at least 2 years Shock. i know he was is my pfb but i cannot believe just how many clothes DS has had in his little life. i feel really quite sorry for DD as there was hardly any of hers (though she is still wearing some of her 12-18mth clothing). we do need some new sleepsuits though, we have quite a few tiny baby sze but not many newborn. will wait and see how big this one is measuring nearer the time. apart from that i can't think what else we need, keep thinking there must be something i've forgotten?!

all has settled down with me now spotting/movement wise so thats a relief, just very tired after having some sleepless nights. have next MW appointment next week and im trying to get an appointment without much luck for the whooping cough jab. i was going through some feeding stuff this morning and made me realise how much i had forgotten, and a bit worried that i wont know how to feed my baby Shock.

glad to hear news of shiv and oliver, i hope that he's having a better day today. i am wondering whether to venture into the world of facebook. i dont use it and dont understand it really and i dont want to be known to the whole world and have random people contact me and knowing my every move! is there a way of getting round that? it seems so complicated!!!
