Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks for all the welcomes, pregnancy all good so far, lots of annoying niggles and sorely missing the g&t's but no major probs.

I'm another runner who's had to give up, kept trying to up until about 22 weeks but just succeeded in giving myself spd so switched to swimming and yoga and feel much better for it, very jealous of all the runners out in the sunny evenings now though.

TotallyEggFlipped · 23/04/2013 20:16

Quin - I second the hand cream & magazines suggestions for your SIL. Also nice snacks for whilst BFing - fancy cereal bars, chocolate, dried fruits. Maybe a home-made equivalent of a graze box. If she's a cheese or wine lover then something she's been missing for the last 9 months.

BB01 - I really miss running, but I think when it starts to get uncomfortable or you start to leak a bit of pee it's time to stop. Unfortunately I haven't had enough time to find a replacemt activity. There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day.

notprincess - ouch! Shingles! Hope you recover quickly.

I've had a really busy day at work and I'm got a stinking cold, so I'll be having a very lazy evening watching tv.

dinkystinky · 23/04/2013 20:39

Ouch re the shingles NotprincessKate - sounds painful!

Vinegar I hope you and ds enjoyed your ice cream in the sun! V jealous.

Discovered a new delightful pregnancy symptom at yoga tonight - hot flushes! Joy of joys

MrsRoss26 · 23/04/2013 20:54

Schro - that's one way of looking at it - and completely shocking us all! Yikes. On the flip side, I figured that I have just 8 1/2 weeks left at work now, and that does make me smile!

Quin I love the hand cream advice - that's a great thought. Having had such horrid dry hands through the last 4 months it sounds like an extra good idea. I may have to suggest this to my colleagues....

Baby is definitely getting a lot more active now. I can feel kicks, thumps, what I suspect is hiccups, and wriggles at really steady intervals throughout the day now. It's just starting to get exciting now that bump is out and proud and my PGP/SPD seems to be receding now that I'm resting more.

I hope everyone who was welding to their desks/jobs inside today get some evening or weekend sunshine to make up for it! Can you all feel how lovely it will be to have summer babies now?

VinegarDrinker · 23/04/2013 21:06

Re the early/late chat, DS was born (spontaneously) at 38+5 and was already pretty good sized at 8 lb 9 oz, and this one was bigger than him at the 20 week scan, so kind of hoping she evicts herself between 38 and 39 weeks too...

WeeS · 23/04/2013 21:55

Hello! Hope you don't mind me popping in again! Was at the start of the year. Hoping everyone is well. Shiv, thinking of you & baby Oliver.

paolocee · 23/04/2013 22:27

Been very busy last 10 days or so but caught up with Shiv's story. Oh my, close to tears reading the last message. Bloody sympathy symptoms.
Go Oliver!

MarieKL · 23/04/2013 22:46

Shiv Its lovely to hear Oliver is growing stronger every day. I hope you and your family are doing okay as well. (thanks for the update Dinky)

Sorry to hear about all the worries that are being checked out, but great to know that everyone and their bumps are okay. Ouch to shingles and other assorted pains/colds etc. Lets hope this is a better week for everyone.

Quin Hand cream and snacks sound perfect. I was also given PJs when I had DS1 which I really appreciated as had night sweats during the first few weeks after birth and between that and not quite positioning myself correctly on the toilet in the middle of the night Blush I managed to get through quite a few sets of PJs over several nights!

I have no idea when wriggles will arrive, but agree its a scary thought that I won't be pg for that much longer. DS was 1 hour and 40 mins late! Something similar this time round would be lovely.

Vingear Ice-cream sounds delicious. Bigbelly I hope your day got better.

Really enjoying the photography conversation. My DH takes amazing pictures, but I always feel bad as it means its generally me and DS in them!

Quick question, does anyone know if its okay to eat soft cheese like the Philadelphia sort? I really, really want some, but remember reading somewhere that it either was or wasn't alright to eat! Confused

Grannyapple · 24/04/2013 08:27

Hi ladies...GTT this morning-I'm hungry already Hmm

Philadelphia is totally fine in pg-it's made with pasteurised milk. I certainly haven't stopped eating it!

BB01 · 24/04/2013 08:32

Philadelphia is fine in pregnancy :-)

Thanks re the running comments (sorry to not name check). I agree you have to listen to your body and figure at least I've kept it up til 30 weeks almost which isn't bad.

Yes another one here with hot flushes! Am generally a lot warmer than I normally am but get moments of intense heat! Layers are my best friend at the mo esp in stressful work meetings!

MightBeMad · 24/04/2013 09:05

Morning all! V impressed with running until 30 weeks. I haven't made it to the gym at all yet this week, must get back to it!

Hope everyone is doing well. Esp Oliver and shiv!

26+5

dinkystinky · 24/04/2013 09:19

BB01 - I've taken to carrying a cold bottle of water with me everywhere to help counter the hot flushes. Nice taste of what menopause has in store for us!

Looks like another beautiful day out there. DS1 turns 7 tomorrow - he was born in 2006 when we had that glorious long warm summer and I remember the weather when I was being induced being just like today - rather hope its going to be another lovely summer this year with our little ones.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 24/04/2013 10:49

Cream cheese is fine! I have practically been living off tubs of it and breadsticks. Blush

Weather isn't nice so far here. :(

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 24/04/2013 10:53

RE: Hot flushes... Go to poundland and they sell bottles of spray stuff, it's a cooling spray and it's like a mist of cold water. It's brilliant, I had about 3 bottles of it in my hospital bag last time as the labour/postnatal ward is so hot it feels like you are in a sauna.

I have no idea why it's like that, they said it was to keep the babies warm but SCBU is nowhere near as hot.

photographerlady · 24/04/2013 11:38

Re: Hot Flushes. I join you ladies on that one, I usually have duvets wrapped around me all summer but the past few weeks I am soo warm, last night I woke up and even got out the fan. Thank goodness for fruit pastels lollies at work. Nice tip on the spray bottles SchoroSaw because hospitals are so swampy

TotallyEggFlipped · 24/04/2013 11:40

I'm always cold, so I was hoping I'd get some of the pregnancy warmth everyone seems to talk about, but no luck yet. Hot flushes don't sound like much fun though. I think I'll stick with my multiple layers.

BB01 · 24/04/2013 12:11

Ooh will check out poundland! Was almost tempted in Boots but it seemed really expensive for a bit of water in a can!!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 24/04/2013 12:19

BB01 If you have no luck in Poundland (they usually always have them though) Tesco and Asda sell them for about £3 as well.

BB01 · 24/04/2013 12:39

Thanks schro, that's brill

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 24/04/2013 12:53

Hey ladies

Sorry for no personal responses but I have a quick question and have been quite worried this morning...

I woke up with a bit of a pain on the lower right side of my bump (it kind of felt like I was being pulled from the inside almost?), and having walked 15, 20 mins to work I was completely out of puff and the entire lower area of my bump kind of felt like I'd done a load of sit ups yesterday or something. I also felt light headed/faint and had a bit of a hot flush..

Not really sure if I should be concerned or not? The pain has gone now, but bump still feels a bit tense and I have what feels like period now..could it be mild Braxton Hicks? Is it possible to sleep through Braxton Hicks and I've just woken up with a sore bump perhaps?

Baby is fine and moving as normal, and I don't want to worry about things unnecessarily, but this is new so I thought I'd ask on here!

MightBeMad · 24/04/2013 13:10

Indecisive, could well be BH, they leave me feeling rather out of breath and tight. Or the discomfort low down on the side of your bump sounds like what I experience for ligament pain - often comes on in bed, moving around, a bit like a stitich or something. I would always say though that if you are worried, speak to your midwife and get checked out.

In my experience, pregnancy is full of benign aches and pains (to the extent pain is ever bengin - but you know what I mean). First time around particularly I was amazed at how painful it was at times, and yet nothing was wrong, it was all within the realms of normal. So I think it's more than likely that you have absolutely nothing to worry about. That said, I'm not medically qualified and it's impossible for anyone to diagnose you over the internet so I'm always worried about giving false reassurance to someone - hence my comment that if you are worried, to get checked out, for your peace of mind.

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 24/04/2013 13:34

Thanks for the quick response MightBeMad

I've had quite a lot of ligament pain but most of it has been on the top of my bump so I spose it might feel a bit different in a different area!

I'm inclined to think that if baby seems OK it's probably a 'normal' pain but as it's playing on my mind I guess I just wanted some reassurance. Will see how it goes. I have a Doctor appointment on Friday anyway so I'll mention it then.

It's all glamour this pregnancy lark mind!! Hmm

dinkystinky · 24/04/2013 13:56

Indecisive - it could be overdoing it (did you do alot yesterday/this morning) or braxton hicks or it could be that you've pulled something down there. I agree with Mightbe - if you're worried, give your MW/labour ward a call and ask for advice. Also make sure you're well hydrated (as being dehydrated can make Braxton Hicks worse).#

Mightbe - hope all is ok. Might it be rib pain as they stretch out?

Schro - I had one of those mist sprays when I went in to give birth to DS1. I thought I'd love it but it annoyed the hell out of me in no time at all! I clearly get v tetchy in labour...

IndecisivePramBuyer81 · 24/04/2013 14:20

Dinky - I don't think I'm overdoing anything, but I'm finding it difficult to slow down to be honest! Yesterday was just a normal day in my world so I'm not sure..haven't been right since I had the whooping cough vaccination on Thursday to be honest. I saw a few people on here had similar reactions though. Baby seems to be doing his best to reassure me this afternoon so I'm feeling much better Smile but def call if anything changes.

I really didn't expect pregnancy to be like this - I was expecting 9 months of being able to eat what I liked, shiny hair/skin and some discomfort at the end...naive eh? lol

Meant to say I've been recommended mist sprays as a must have and Poundland/various bargain shops have the MUCH cheaper than Boots!

I also think you are all mad for even considering running..!!

photographerlady · 24/04/2013 14:21

Afternoon all. I feel like I am in the slowest countdown ever. The last three weeks I trained my replacements and training another hub next week til I leave at the end of May but I am soooooo bored. I delegate work and feel like I am just counting down every day til maternity leave.
