Having a fine weekend here. Got sunburned at a steam rally yesterday with DB1 & his DW, and have been to my first soft play centre with DB2, SIL & DNs today. Fed a lovely roast dinner by DB2's mil too!

MarieKL · 21/04/2013 20:59

Dinky thank you for the update on Oliver. I giggled at your DCs eyeball comment as well.

Sounds like quite a few of us aren't having a great time at the moment. Shelly I entirely agree with everyone else. You know you and your baby best so if you're worried make a fuss. Phie glad you're feeling better. Calm ouch! I hope your toe heals quickly. Ama glad the doctor was reassuring. I hope it clears up soon for you.

I'm impressed by all the running talk. Though much like Vingear I prefer long distance walking, though not much chance of any walking with DS in tow. Far more like a leisurely wander, with frequent stops to poke things!

Good luck to all those with tests etc this week.

dinkystinky · 22/04/2013 06:51

Brief Oliver update from FB for those not on it - shiv posted a photo of him last night and he is gorgeous; he had to go back on the ventilator as the CPAP was making him work too hard - still amazing progress in a week though!

AmaDablam · 22/04/2013 07:05

Thanks Dinky and Marie. Back to stingy wee this morning Sad but hopefully I'll have peace of mind when the sample comes back from the lab. I do suffer on and off from interstitial (sp? - basically non-bacterial form of) cystitis so I expect it's just that. As for the discharge (sorry if TMI) it is a yellowy colour, but I told the GP this and she wasn't worried.

Calm sorry to hear about your accident, hope your toe heals fast and glad the bump is fine, despite its encounter with the stairgate.

Lovely to see that little Oliver continues his fight - the pic from Shiv really cheered me up this morning Smile

Good news about as shiv and little Oliver!

Tried to post last night but mumsnet went off when I hit post. Anyway I'm ok, thanks for all the messages yesterday. I ended up going back in to hospital from our day out as throughout the day the spotting got worse and was accompanied by cramping. Had some more prodding and monitoring and baby is fine. They think that the spots may be caused by some bruising/blood coming away through the cervix. Having a complete rest today between school and nursery runs. house is a mess and have two baskets of ironing to do but they will still be there tomorrow!

Photographer I went to same place as we do for the scans / dau. Took a couple of hours and had to wait there. Hope it goes Ok

notprincesskate · 22/04/2013 08:08

Goodness there must have been something in the weather this weekend, with all the trips to get checked out, I spent a couple of hours at the local maternity unit, as I've had/still got left sided pain, which is more across my ribs, and feels like its my skin rather than deep type pain, difficult to describe, but mighty uncomfortable, everything looked fine anyway, they think its muscular, although its still there.
Is anyone else feeling really uncomfortable when even doing normal things, I just can't really comprehend the thought of getting any bigger/ more uncomfortable if I go anywhere near full term!
Weird how the GTT varies I should have mine this week- fast for 12hrs, have blood, drink lucazade, wait an hr have blood, wait an hr have blood, and not to move around too much in that two hrs- sounds like bliss, but on one of those uncomfortable chairs sounds like a nightmare, too much time for me to think of all the jobs I could be doing.
Had a whole list of things I was going to reply to, but can't remember them or who now, except, very bad patient here don't carry my notes anywhere unless appts, despite being high risk, that said I'm not usually more than 30mins from home at any point. And I got a lovely oilcloth changing bag from a lady on eBay who makes them, it's a really good size and she does lots of different designs or will make to order, cost around the £55 mark, so I didn't think too exorbitant, especially as I'm likely to use it as my main bag for a out a year and in comparison to some of my handbags which are about a tenth of the size and 3 times the price- just don't tell DH Wink.
Have a good day all

cheekbyjowl · 22/04/2013 08:44

Oh dear. Sorry that so many of you have had baby concerns but really glad to read that none are thought to be serious.

shiv really glad to hear how oliver is doing. What a blessing. Its incredible hes improved so quickly and seems to be in excellent care. Weve been praying for your family and hope you and your husband are resting ok and have good friends around you

Dh and I are going to do a test next month to see how we can make living on a single income work. Anyone else doing this/done this? Any good apps to track spending? no starbucks for us in May!

Cutandstick · 22/04/2013 08:50

That's very sensible cheek We both seem to have extra outlays at the moment, I'm buying all baby stuff and DP is buying all materials to build a shed (he def has worst side of the bargain, but I do get most of the food!) I've only got 2 more full pay checks left, and one is in a few days...ahhhhh!

Definitely something in the air this weekend for so many of us being checked out. We must have reached that stage of pregnancy when everything is under a bit more stress in our bodies. I'm back to the GP this afternoon, my MW says to see GP over everything unless its a check up!

photographerlady · 22/04/2013 09:15

Morning all. Had my first set of blood taken, nurse was just back from annual leave and my arm was dropping with blood (tmi). Now my two hour wait surrounded by other ladies reading magazines. You think they have pregnancy mags in here but it's all Closer and Now. It's going to be a long two hours atleast I have Game of Thrones on my tablet :p

dinkystinky · 22/04/2013 09:25

Ouch Ama and Notprincess - you both sound like you are in the wars. If it is cystitis, I hope it passes soon Ama and Notprincess that the baby moves position (if that is what is causing it) and the pain eases up for you. I know what you mean about not being able to imagine getting g any bigger - I have had 15 people tell me this weekend (I kept count) that I look like I am term already - I had to tell them that they ain't seen nothing yet as I look like I'm smuggling space hoppers down my top by the end!

Glad you and the baby are OK Shelley - please do take it easy and ignore the ironing. I don't iron anything (refuse to buy things for me or the boys that need ironing and DH irons his own shirts as they are nothing to do with me!) But know I am a domestic slattern in that respect.

Cheek - I found it really useful to go through statements on mat leave first time to work out monthly and quarterly outgoings and put them in a spreadsheet. Don't forget annual expenses too (insurance/car tax/parking permit/Mot etc). I then worked out what we would have coming in while on mat leave. I did a food/shopping budget and saving for unforeseen expenses allocation (easiest to set up a transfer to a savings account to stop you dipping into it - if its not used, you can use it for holidays/classes etc in the future) and we put what was needed (split in proportion to what we had coming in so DH had to pay the lions share) plus an extra 100 each into our joint account and what was left was ours to spend as we like. It worked really well for us but I know different approaches work for different families. Money saving expert is a good website to trawl for budgeting ideas.

BB01 · 22/04/2013 10:13

Sorry to hear of people not feeling well and having worries over the baby with movements etc. Hope they all turned out to be unfounded worries and that all the babies stay where they should be for a good while longer!

Sounds like Oliver is making good progress overall, which is lovely to hear.

Yes, feel a bit envious of all the runners at the marathon! Don't fancy doing a run that long but I did used to do some quite long distances at one point and got such a buzz off it! Am finding it too uncomfortable to even do my slow jogging on pavements now so having to walk to the canal tow path then do my shuffling along! Really want to keep at it as long as it feels ok though as nothing else comes close to it for clearing my head and making me feel good.

Think it's a really good idea to have a look into single income finances - thanks for the reminder!

BB01 · 22/04/2013 10:20

I thought this was lovely (nearly had to stop reading as was on a train and was struggling not to blub!!) www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2013/apr/13/letter-to-my-unborn-baby

dinkystinky · 22/04/2013 10:25

Abzs - sounds like you're having a lovely time with family. Hope the sunburn isnt too bad.

It was DS1's 7th birthday party yesterday - bowling and pizza and icecream for 15 kids. Went well but am knackered today after it - spent most of my time having to marshall a 4 year old back to the bowling lanes (not even my 4 year old!) from the amusement arcade bit of the bowling alley...

BadMissM · 22/04/2013 10:46

Well, no-one else has been nearly murdered in front of the house this weekend, so things going better!

Stupid neighbours woke me up at 7am, after a really bad night, so got my own back by sanding at 8am (ha). Have been using time to paint a chest of drawers for LO's room.... being careful after last week's panic....

off to finish painting the rest of his room (so I can put it all in place), then off with my Polish friends this afternoon, as she wants me to give her ideas for HER LO's room (I should become a style consultant....!!!)

dinkystinky · 22/04/2013 11:41

Glad the week is looking up for you BadmissM! Am impressed at all the stuff you're doing for LO's room - do I see a new future in interior design opening up?

lancslass83 · 22/04/2013 11:46

Hello everyone, been lurking since 4 weeks but thought it was about time I posted, would also love to join fb group. Due 21st July with dc1 so date twins with Ama. Been really good to hear everyone's stories and to know I'm not mad with some of my issues.

MightBeMad · 22/04/2013 11:59

Love that article BB01 - just about sums it all up.

Sorry to hear that some many of us are having wiorries and discomfiorts. I'm keeping everything crossed that they all turn out to be harmless. I went in for monitoring last week too after a couple of days of reduced movement. All seemed to be ok though which is a relief. And so far, my cholestasis blood tests seem to be coming back clear...

Shiv, soo so glad to hear of the amazing progress little Oliver is making! Long may that continue. Hope you are also doing okay yourself?

Welcome lankslass and other delurkers!

26+3

IcingTheCake · 22/04/2013 12:13

Welcome Lancslass if you message me, I can add you to the facebook group, always nice to have more people to talk to! :) Hope your pregnancy has been good to you so far?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 22/04/2013 13:02

Welcome LancsLass :)

Sorry to hear everyone has been having worries. :(

dinkystinky · 22/04/2013 13:05

Welcome Lancslass - add your details to the stats thread (link up in first post on the thread). Hope your pregnancy is going well.

IcingTheCake · 22/04/2013 15:31

Managed to record baby making my whole tummy move with kicks earlier, my mum was so pleased as she always seems to miss the big ones Smile

MrsRoss26 · 22/04/2013 16:15

Welcome Lancslass.

I hope this isn't insensitive, bearing in mind how wonderfully Oliver is doing, but does anyone else have any idea / feeling that they'll be pre-due date? I have two generations before me with preemies (7-8 weeks is standard!) I'm trying to plan my leave, shopping, decorating etc. around the expectation that babbers will arrive early, but hoping s/he won't!

I hope everyone who's had troubles over the weekend gets things checked out and sorted really easily. I've woken up the past few nights with headaches and niggly pains in my abdomen, but trying to stay calm and not over-think things too much. It's hard not to worry though, not having done this before!

dinkystinky · 22/04/2013 16:27

With DS1 I had a feeling he'd be late - he was, and had to be evicted by the drs... With DS2 I had a feeling he'd be early and he was, at 38 weeks. This baby, I'm hoping it will be a little early as our 10 year wedding anniversary is at the end of June and it would be lovely to have a babe in arms for it, but fairly sure it will be more like DS1...

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 22/04/2013 16:29

Icing It's great, isn't it? You can him squirm when he moves with me, I am guessing it's because I am so small this time round but you can see every movement! Last night I had a completely flat tummy on one side and a big lump on the other side moving, when I was lying down.

MrsRoss I had been thinking about this but didn't want to ask because of Oliver.

I already have DS and he was born by induction at 38 weeks but this time feels different. I don't know how to explain it. Also, I have a cystocele from DS and have to hold it up while I wee and I can feel the babys head (I think it is a head) lying flush with my cervix and pushing it down.

Devilforasideboard · 22/04/2013 16:35

MrsRoss I may well be pre-due date depending how things go with the placenta previa. According to the consultant the best case scenario now is admission at 34 weeks and delivery at 37 but if I bleed earlier they may just whip him out. It's a bit difficult to plan for but I've got a hospital bag ready for me and will add bits for Bobble as I get further along

notprincesskate I know exactly how you feel re uncomfortableness! I look like a stranded turtle trying to get out of be already. Bobble also has a habit of falling asleep in a really uncomfortable position just before I have to walk somewhere. On the plus side my lovely boss has sorted a parking permit for the car park nearest the office for me so that's a bit less walking to do.

I had my anti-D injection today and a lovely migraine afterwards just when I was about to go shopping for my new big handbag. Not impressed. We've been moved onto an earlier NCT class as the other one was cancelled so that starts this week, good timing really given the possibility of imminent arrival.

So, so glad to hear Oliver's doing well. I shall get myself added to the FB group so I can have a peek.
