Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

MissT, yeah on the great scan result.

I've got my scan date through 3rd May am bricking it big time. I know I shouldn't as a heartbeat was seen at 7 weeks 4 days so the chances of miscarriage are 5%.

This mornign I've had an ache in my belly when I sit down but when I stand up and move around it's ok. I'm guessing it's just gas or something? If it continues I will call the midwife.

Mummapanda, fingers crossed fro tomorrow for you.

xxx

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/04/2013 14:24

berry if you are really keen to know and couldn't find out at your 20 week scan, how about booking for a private 4D one? I'm sure you can see it if the scan is long enough! Or is it you just can't wait to find out?

BangOn · 15/04/2013 14:27

saundy yes, i could be wrong & would love a little boy, but it jusy feels fairly similar to the first two.

bra-wise i got myself re-fitted at about 5 weeks. too early probably. i'll probabl buy nursing bras towards the end but staying in underwired as long as is comfortable. thinking of going down the sports bra route aa much more suppor than maternity.

berrybomb · 15/04/2013 14:33

onelittle - we're just very excited to find out! DP wants to book a private scan at 16 weeks when our local one claims to be able to tell.

I think we'll wait till 20 weeks (it will come round quick enough!), and if there's no luck there, we'll get a 4D one.

getoffthecoffeetable · 15/04/2013 15:25

dizzy what kind of an ache if you don't mind my asking? I've had aches in my tummy for a few days now. Should I have been phoning the MW?
It's worrying stuff this pregnancy malarkey!

MummaPanda · 15/04/2013 15:26

Don't know about you guys but the 4d scans freak me out!! Look like something out of a horror movie!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/04/2013 15:47

MummaPanda the 4th dimension is time Grin. It's not that scary. They sell it as a bonding scan around here.

getoffthecoffeetable · 15/04/2013 16:07

I'm with you on that one mumma they look like aliens to me!

BangOn · 15/04/2013 16:10

i've never really fancied having a 4d scan. this is my last baby,(all being well) so perhaps i should? just for the hell of it.

here are some other things i never did with dd1 &dd2, which i'm also contemplating as a sort of last hurrah:

buying a bugaboo
getting a bigger car
baby yoga
antenatal yoga all the way through (stopped early with dd1, can't remember why! didn't bother with dd2)
aqua natal
water babies (in a consistent way, rather than just randomly!)
baby massage
only using washable nappies.

quite a list! poor kid having to be 'my baby' forever & getting dragged to everything!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/04/2013 16:21

BangOn Loving your list.

  • bugaboo - done and would recommend it
  • getting a bigger car - I wish but don't have the money!
  • antenatal yoga - I stopped early with DD because I was too lazy to go every week Blush. I already looked on netmums and found a antenatal pilates class around here. Can't find any yoga ones.
  • aqua natal - yes, I didn't do that last time, but I want to be better this time round!
  • washable nappies - I'm thinking of washable wipes atm. I don't think I can do the full washable nappy thing.
Saundy · 15/04/2013 16:22

Get & Dizzy I wouldn't worry too much about the aches pains. One of the first things my SiL said when she found out I was preggers was 'everyone gets aches & pains all through the pregnancy, everyone panics, it's normal, just call me if it happens & I'll remind you.'

artyone · 15/04/2013 16:30

Hello everyone I'm about half way caught up with this thread, Hah, too much chatter.

I am here today to vent!!

I am terrified of needles. I had my booking in appt last week and had to have blood taken (for the first time in my life). I felt horrible on the day, but thanks to a brilliant midwife and my OH, I managed to have it done and was very proud of myself.

Today I get a call from the doctors saying that my blood got lost or broken at the lab and they need me to re-do the bloods. They can give me a midwife again but can't guarentee the same one. I feel like crying. I know you have to have it done more than once in the pregnancy anyway but thought that was it for a few weeks. I'm so annoyed :(
Also does anyone know if this will delay my scan or anything?

Ugh.

Ariel21 · 15/04/2013 16:50

Thanks Saundy and no, am feeling worse now! Have gone from calm to resigned to the fact there is something wrong. Quite crampy around my lower back now. Still brown spotting, but only when I go to the loo and wipe? I was just hoping it would stop! Darn. Lots of work to do tonight so can try and distract myself until morning.

Dizzy81 · 15/04/2013 16:56

Getoff and Saundy, it's a dull ache pain that comes and goes. I think it's where my stomach is growing/streching. Or a build up of gas or a blockage?

I suppose I am just being my neurotic self?!?!

busyprocrastinating · 15/04/2013 17:22

Arty I really feel for you as I too have a total needle phobia. I'm having my bloods done on Wednesday and already feel sick and shaky about it. Here they do the bloods the same day as the scan so it shouldn't delay it.

Saundy · 15/04/2013 17:29

Arty that's shit & do flipping typical!! But you've done it once & it won't be easy but hopefully that positive experience will give you a good foundation to do it again. I wouldn't be happy either.

It's brown Ariel so that's positive, hopefully it'll be all good tmr & put your mind at ease.

It sounds like the stretchy aches to me Dizzy but if you need a second opinion to go for it to have your mind put at ease.

I'm sooo hungry but cannot be arsed to cook & there's nothing quick in!! Humph.

MissTweed · 15/04/2013 17:41

Arty, do you live anywhere near the hospital?? As they have a phlebotomy (the blood takers) service. Who do it all day everyday so they are expert and the bloods taken before you know it!! Midwives and practice nurses also do it all the time so they are also really good (just stay away from the junior drs!! Smile

TiredFeet · 15/04/2013 17:43

arty that is awful, I have a terrible phobia of blood tests so I can really feel for you. I often faint/ get a bit hysterical Blush. It must have taken you so much strength to do it. I do think it gets slightly easier each time though. But still it is disgraceful that they were so careless!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 15/04/2013 18:19

arty gutted for you. Why do these things always happen to people with a fear of needles, it's Sod's law.

Still completely knackered 12 1/2 weeks now so am really hoping this damn fatigue is going to bugger off soon.

stuffthenonsense · 15/04/2013 18:48

Arty ask your gp if the phlebotomy service visit your practice....round here it's a weekly service, they really are much better. I dread blood tests. Not out of fear but because it is impossible to get blood from me, if they can find a vein it seals itself the moment it's pierced. Phlebotomists have more chance than anyone.
As for finding the fundus, it's a bit like looking for a missing book under the duvet, you'll feel a firmer area before hitting a squish above (unless your super toned)

Slippysnow · 15/04/2013 18:52

I had my scan today! One amazingly wriggly baby who did not want to stay still the scanner called them a rascal (hehe). It looked like it was mountaineering and then launching them self down a water slide. Made me giggle. We got put ahead to the 25th of oct, I'm hoping for a haloween baby - excellent parties.

Ps been having awful headaches :(

MummaPanda · 15/04/2013 19:10

Hurray slippy!! I'm getting soo excited about mine tomorrow now! Didn't have an early scan this time so this will be first time I see my little sprog.
I know a lot of the thread have had early scans so is there anyone else whose first scan will, or was, the 12 week?
Expecting to all of a sudden be hit with the reality I'm going to have 2 babies under 1 when I actually see the scan. So far I don't think its really sunk in!

Dizzy81 · 15/04/2013 19:13

Saundy, you're right it's streching pains. Being paranoid/neurotic.

Arty, that's terrible. I hope they apologised?

Skippy snow, congratulations on your hyper active bean. 😃 and your due date being bought forward.

Ariel, it's brown so be positive.

Whenshewasbad, Im with youon the fatigue front.

On my scan letter I've been advised it will cost 10 for pics!!! Ive decided to upload a pic into moonpig and send a card to each set of grandparents and the great grandparents, saying I'm looking forward to seeing you all in November!

berrybomb · 15/04/2013 19:14

Yay for slippy. I'm loving hearing all the scan stories.

Mumma - good luck for your scan - I'm guessing twins would be a bit too much to find out then? Wink - sorry, couldn't help myself!

MissTweed · 15/04/2013 19:17

Congratulations slippysnow, truly an amazing experience isn't it?? I also got my EDD brought forward which I'm pleased about... Don't need to wait so long for the sexing scan! Grin
