Suffolk mine is for minestrone soup, pasta bolognaise, ham and tomato sandwiches - although had to have a Whopper Meal the other day... I do think my cravings are centred around tomato's though anything with tomato especially fresh is great at the moment! Gone completely off of things like pizza, even the thought of it makes me want to wretch.

Fairydogmother · 26/04/2013 10:06

i'm loving battered fish from a chippy/restaurant! even booked a fish restaurant for my birthday treat next month!

and i'm not a fish lover whatsoever Confused

Animol · 26/04/2013 10:21

fairy lol at blooming tired - yes me too!

Nearly threw up at the supermarket this morning - was saved by some free samples of cheese - went back for more twice - didn't dare tell the saleswoman I wasn't being greedy just the alternative would not have been pleasant.

good luck to everyone with scans today

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 26/04/2013 10:22

echo sorry about your risk being slightly high. What a horrible dilemma. I think I would do the same in your shoes, not risk a invasive test but go for the harmony one. It's really good you saw a nasal bone, if the baby had something much more serious like Edwards there's a good chance the nuchal measurement would have been a lot higher.

Really impressed with you ladies who worked up to 38 weeks. I think I stopped at 32 weeks last time Blush. That did include about 5 weeks of holiday. I have a high pressure target drive job and my brain just packed up. I think the main problem was I was really focused on the pregnancy and as I got bigger I just cared less and less about work.

KirjavaTheCat · 26/04/2013 10:23

Peppadew peppers stuffed with cream cheese.
Salty popcorn.
Pickled onion monster munch.
Salt and vinegar chips (three weeks and it still won't go away!)
Anything salty or sour. My poor belly.

Eco one of the first symptoms of pregnancy last time was me throwing up at the smell of fresh uncooked pizza (had to walk through a chiller containing food to get to my office at work). The smell still makes me heave!

MummaPanda · 26/04/2013 10:24

My lower stomach is really sore today, can definitely feel that things are growing in there!
12 +1!

My craving is cheese and ham sandwiches and orange lucozade, in fact I may have to go in search of one now...

harverina · 26/04/2013 10:40

Whenshe I was the same last time at work - couldn't care less! Well not totally I tried to tie things up as best as I could and I was still working hard right up to the end but I was not nearly as motivated - when you know you are finishing up it is a difficult to be enthusiastic about it Grin

Cravings for me have changed week to week - I am enjoying cheese sandwiches just now, salads, Ice lollies (can't get enough of them) and generally anything a little spicy. I think about baked potatoes with prawn Marie rose and a side salad a lot too!!

All week I have been dreaming about spicy onions and poppadoms so this weekend my mission is to get some from the Indian takeaway Grin

But my cravings have been weird - one minute I cannot get enough of something and the next it is making me heave - like smoked salmon and avocados. The thought of smoked salmon right now is awful. Then there was picked onion and salt and vinegar crisps but now I'm not interested in them at all.

The only thing that I have consistently been able to tolerate is sweet stuff, like cakes and biscuits and ice cream. I am trying hard not to give into this though as I am scared that I will get self induced diabetes - although I was the same last pregnancy and it eased a bit so hopefully will be the same this time.

Sorry to talk about food so much - it's amazing how important food becomes when you are pregnant - it makes you feel so ill or cures you of sickness!!!

Hope u are all having a good day. I am 12+5 and feeling ok today. Occasional nausea but bearable. Still have toilet issues though Blush

littlemonkey2013 · 26/04/2013 11:12

I have a question. The test results from the nuchal and blood tests etc are a screening for downs but also for many other things as was discussed earlier. So when you get your results back as 1 in however many. Is that your chance in having a baby with any of the problems. Or just the chance of having downs? Just curious because I don't know which stage of the testing flags up which problem.

I'm really loving fish at the moment and any meal with fish is going down well. Also loving chocolate milk at the moment too. The sicky feeling has mostly gone away except when I first wake up and before I go to bed.

berrybomb · 26/04/2013 11:28

Hello all. Congrats on all the positive scan news, I look forward to reading about them.

Food is becoming important to me too! I am sat at my desk constantly grazing. But when you put a big meal in front of me, I can't manage very much - I'm living off snacks. Luckily it's a lot of fruit as well as crisps, chocolate and sweets.

Someone mentioned a cheese sandwich, and now I really fancy a very plain, white bread, cheese sandwich. mmm.

I have no idea on when I plan to leave - I can probably have 3 weeks annual leave, so thought that might be good, but have no idea how I'll feel closer to the time.

Also....how does it work with my annual leave, say I book holiday for 3 weeks before d-day, but baby arrives 2 weeks early. I know my maternity leave legally has to then immediately start, but what happens to the annual leave? Does it get lost, or can I take it at the end?

artyone · 26/04/2013 11:51

Oooh cravings. I'm currently craving:

Pickled beetroot
Stilton cheese
Muscat grapes (about the closest I'll get to wine for the next 7+ months)
Garlic bread (and pretty much garlic anything)

Things I cannot eat at all:
Mince
Crumpets
Pizza

artyone · 26/04/2013 11:53

Oh yes and I've completely gone off chocolate!! Still have my Easter eggs!

MsFanackerPants · 26/04/2013 12:30

I don't have to think about it for a while but I'm hoping to work until 37 or 38 weeks. I think the commute will be the hard part. Babies are late in DPs and my family so I'm using that as my evidence.

busyprocrastinating · 26/04/2013 12:47

Yes towards the end I was at work in body but my head was definately somewhere else.

It is crazy how important food becomes. Last time we were living with my inlaws, whilst our house was renovated, and they insisted on cooking for us. I honestly shed tears lots of times over what meal they had cooked. At the moment I really fancy gala apples and tomatoes. I too have completely gone off chocolate which is so not like me. I only really want bland food

Fairydogmother · 26/04/2013 12:51

berry my work let me carry over leave so maybe check if yours does too. i hope i havent used all my leave by the time october comes - if i havent then i'll take as much off prior to mat leave as poss.

dont think my work need to know about leaving dates until 15 weeks before i want to go off? need to check that.

it cant come quick enough for me as i hate this place!

i've completely gone off dinners and only want to snack on things. had a massive craving for red meat early on and thats vanished - in fact it would make me heave eating mince or steak etc. cheese is a def love (no change there then!) plus yoghurt which i'd never have eaten before.

i'm a bit worried about all the sweet stuff i crave tho!

EcoHippyMum · 26/04/2013 13:17

Glad I'm not the only one Kirjava!
Whenshe I am still umming and awing over paying for the harmony... I definitely am not having the invasive tests. As it stands I either look at it that I have less than 1% chance of having a baby with chromosomal abnormalities, or a greater than 99% chance of a child with no abnormalities. When we look at contraception isn't it the one thing we look for that it's 99% safe... I might indulge still, but mainly as I want to know what I am having as in a boy or girl! Not that I mind either way but it would be lovely to know!!

Good news too... I completed my dissertation and it has been sent off to be printed and bound... just bloody hoping I've done enough to pass it with a half decent mark!

KirjavaTheCat · 26/04/2013 13:19

Just realised I have a four-tier wedding cake with sugar flowers booked in for August. We'll be what, six months pregnant-ish? Slightly worried, by the way my belly's going right now, that I won't be able to bend over the cake without knocking the top off with my bump Confused

TiredFeet · 26/04/2013 13:38

well I think everyone at our toddler group knows I'm pregnant now Blush and I'm only 10 weeks. I'd had a bad morning, not kept my tablet down, and been quite sick. turns out its not a good idea to go marching round in a circle with a toddler, I felt very faint and had to sit down before I fell down. the group leader mouthed 'morning sickness?' at me and got me a glass of water, but I suspect a lot of other people guessed too. the toddler's were all very confused by me sitting down when we were meant to be 'dancing'!

I finished at about 36 weeks last time I think. I had a very long commute and my work at the time involved quite a lot of public facing work and I got fed up of all the comments. but I spent the next 4 weeks doing DH's accounts as he hadn't touched them all year (well I did manage to squeeze in a lot of walks and swims and cooing at baby clothes too). I think this time I will aim to finish by 37 ish weeks so I can have a few chilled weeks with DS before his world turns upside down!

I have insanely strong and specific cravings, goes with the hyperemesis I think. today I was craving brioche.. luckily the shop sold them, as I have managed to eat 5 Blush.

SpanishLady · 26/04/2013 14:33

I'm not sure what to do about stopping work - I am using 37 weeks as being my version of 40 weeks so think I'd like to have some time before the twins arrive - guess i have to wait and see how the pregnancy pans out and what the consultant says - im really hoping they let me have an elcs - so maybe end of Septemberat some point!

YummyMummy17 · 26/04/2013 16:03

Hi fairydogmotherSmile

Oh congratulations! ThanksThanksThanks

How exciting, how has your pregnancy been so far? Are you finding out baby's sex or waiting? Xx

Fairydogmother · 26/04/2013 16:44

Not too bad! No sickness so def not complaining about that!

Is this your first baby? We will def want to find out the sex - just another 13 odd weeks to wait!

YummyMummy17 · 26/04/2013 16:57

This is my second! My DS is 4yo so it has been a while! I am finding out again, how come you are waiting 13weeks??? Shock

I can find out in just over 4weeks? Xx

Fairydogmother · 26/04/2013 17:04

I want a 4d scan so we will go private for one of those. my hospital won't tell us the sex as its against their policy! I can find out the sex at the 4d scan tho
