Emc I was told to drink a lot before 12 week scan. Makes things easier for technician to see. Good luck!

getoffthecoffeetable · 25/04/2013 07:35

Morning ladies. Loving hearing all the scan news. Only 4 more days until we have ours. Am getting very nervous about it as we've not had a scan at all yet. I'm sure I've been feeling flutterings though, really hope I've not been imagining it!
I'm going to try and convince DH that a holiday for the three of us is needed before I get too big to enjoy the sun! Wish me luck!

TiredFeet · 25/04/2013 07:48

msfanacker my midwife was telling me that they think severe morning sickness may be caused because your body is so efficient at redirecting nutrients to the baby that it leaves you with very low blood sugar. I have found eating sugary stuff sometimes does help so maybe there is some truth in it. Hope you feel a bit less bad soon. Last time round mine vanished at 12 weeks so I'm keeping everything crossed its the same this time.

MsFanackerPants · 25/04/2013 08:13

Hi TiredFeet the mw I saw a fortnight ago said the same thing and like you I've found sugary stuff or carbs help a bit. It's just actually getting them down that's hard! Hope the magic 12 weeks mark brings calmer tummies for us both.

TiredFeet · 25/04/2013 08:23

That's interesting msfanacker must be something in it then! I have just been asking my mum what to do (as she is diabetes specialist nurse) and she has suggested having fruit or something at 2/3 am and see if that helps keep blood sugar more stable. She is also going to bring a blood glucose monitor next time she visits (if I am still being ill by then) - will let you know the outcome!

MummaPanda · 25/04/2013 09:09

Woohoooo 12 weeks today!!! Feels like some kind of mile stone Grin

MissTweed · 25/04/2013 09:11

Morning ladies
I've got my next MW appointment coming up in the next few weeks and I was going to mention to her about my concerns over weight issues etc etc. my DH has just told me that he's coming with me!! It's nice that he's wants to come to everything (as he says its his baby too - which is obviously right) but I don't want to discuss certain things in front of him. For example, last time he asked the MW what I should be eating to help baby, she suggested healthy diet etc inc loads of fruit such as blueberries etc..... He takes everything literally and our fridge is now full of bloody blueberries - I HATE them!! I've been feeding them to the dogs!! He's buys fruit knowing damn well I'm not a big fruit eater.
He means well but my god is it annoying!!
Does anyone else's DH/DP plan on going to all appointments or is that just weird??

P.s. good luck to all scanees today Grin

berrybomb · 25/04/2013 09:40

Yay Mumma - it is a big milestone!

MissT - my DP is dead keen to come to everything too, it's not weird at all. He did feel a bit like a 3rd wheel at the booking in though!

Fairydogmother · 25/04/2013 10:13

misstweed at my MW appt my DP wasnt allowed in (she wanted to ask about domestic violence etc) so that might suit you well!

My DP will come to all my scans etc but not to normal MW appts. Theres no need really unless you really wanted them there.

When I see the consultant inbetween times he will also try and come.

Slippysnow · 25/04/2013 11:32

My dp wants to come and to be honest I want him there, I've been quite open with anything pregnancy related and that I would discuss with the midwife. Also I have dyslexia that affects my memory, particularly for numbers and dates and appointments are full of them so he's my diary too, reminding me of what they recommend :)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 25/04/2013 11:33

Scan this morning went well. I'm 13 weeks 4 so dates are exactly where I thought they would be. Going to try and relax about the pregnancy now.

Congrats to all the other successful scans.

Slippysnow · 25/04/2013 11:55

Congrats whenshe the scan does give you that extra bit of reassurance. It's a long time to be worried! Fingers crossed for any other scannees

Fairydogmother · 25/04/2013 12:13

slippy just be prepared for them to want to speak to you at some point on your own. its for your protection in case you had a horrible partner who was beating you etc!

good news whenshe

MummaPanda · 25/04/2013 13:42

What a lovely sunny day it is today! Me and dd just got in from a lovely walk along the seafront. Soo happy weather is getting nicer, makes you so happy! Grin

stuffthenonsense · 25/04/2013 13:44

Mummapanda we are curled on the sofa having ran in from rain

MummaPanda · 25/04/2013 13:52

Oh Sad sorry stuff!! If could share the sunshine I would!!

getoffthecoffeetable · 25/04/2013 14:29

Lovely news when now you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 25/04/2013 14:34

Thanks slippy fairy and getoff am going to make a concerted effort to chill out from now on.

Envy of the sunny weather too have drizzle here.

Fairydogmother · 25/04/2013 14:43

lol dont think we'll ever stop worrying!

Slippysnow · 25/04/2013 14:56

fairy my midwife asked to speak to me alone for a min at first to ask about domestic violence. Then she buzzed the waiting room to send him in. I think that's the nicest way to deal with it.

Fairydogmother · 25/04/2013 16:29

Think they just need to cover themselves in case you're in danger etc and have no chance to express it otherwise.

It's a good idea as its bound to happen to some poor women

MummaPanda · 25/04/2013 17:20

Oooh there's a Jan 2014 thread now!!! Don't know why but makes me feel we are well and truly on our way now, 2nd trimester here we come!!! Grin

KirjavaTheCat · 25/04/2013 17:53

Knackered!!! Spent the whole day painting the front of my house. Realised when I was 3/4 way through that maybe it's not a great idea to climb a massive ladder with a bucket of paint, while 2 1/2 months pregnant... But by then I'd had to finish it otherwise it would have looked silly. Oops! Weather's gorgeous so why not. Make the most of it before the cold weather comes back (and it will, apparently Sad)

MrsT my OH can't come to any of mine Sad but it's worth it, he's saving all his holiday for DS' birthday and to cushion his paternity leave.

louby86 · 25/04/2013 18:13

Booking in appointment finally done! Got to see a consultant to see if I can try for a normal birth after having a rough time last time, but of a shock but I'm glad they're being honest. Was a bit upset when I came out but just need to think of it as doing whatever the safest option is Smile

TiredFeet · 25/04/2013 18:21

Dp came to all my appointments last time, but think he'll probably just come to the scans this time. misstweed you could always ring midwife between appointments if you need to, if that avoids you needing to stop your dp going. I am sure they will understand. I can see why you want to discuss it without him, I know it can make things worse if you feel like someone is monitoring you.

mummapanda agree re the jan 2014 thread, feels like progress!

Made it to work today Smile really hoping its up hill from now (10 weeks ) but I may be expecting too much too soon. Also every time my symptoms subside I just worry there's a problem, I'm annoying myself with it!
