Hi ladies, consultant (who was an absolutely lovely woman) said my cervix was still closed and it was old blood not fresh that she could see. Said as I wasn't in pain and wasn't especially tender she didn't feel it was an emergency. She said it could be a threatened miscarriage but as I had been spotting so long it probably isn't, or it could be the position of the placenta or anything. She said without my notes and scan details (which aren't in my notes anyway ironically) she couldn't say for definite what was going on. But felt that it wasn't an urgent issue at this point. But to keep an eye on things and to rest up.

Thanks for all your kind words, feel a little upset but mostly pragmatic at the moment. I just want this scan on Tuesday, am even considering paying for private if I can get in quick enough as 5 days feels like 5 months right now!

Fairydogmother · 17/04/2013 22:17

Eco that def sounds v positive. Do as you're told and rest lots! Or we shall be cross with you Wink!

Totally understand the feeling of waiting for your scan

TiredFeet · 17/04/2013 22:21

eco that sounds encouraging, glad your consultant was lovely it makes it a lot easier when they are! I can imagine the wait till Tuesday is going to feel very long, hope you will manage to get as much rest as you can until then

EcoHippyMum · 17/04/2013 22:23

Well I have a dissertation I need to get finished for next week so it has time to be printed and spiral bound! So I shall sit In my pit doing that! DH thinks I should ask for an extension, as I lost my mother in February, I was with her when she died, and prior to her going into a home 5 months before she died I had been caring for her since 2008... She lived with us. He thinks with all of that and with the bleeds I should...but I feel like I am cheating!

EcoHippyMum · 17/04/2013 22:27

Oh and I can highly recommend Addenbrookes, much nicer and faster than Broomfield - just wish I could have my baby there rather than Broomfield!

harverina · 17/04/2013 23:24

Very positive news Eco, that's great Grin

Re. Your dissertation - how far on are you? If you think you have done enough and can get it finished I think i would be inclined to get it in as once it is in you can forget all about it and torally relax. If you feel quite far behind and feel to unwell to work on it then I would get an extension. I'm not sure how restful doing a dissertation is even if your lying in bed working on it!!

You had had to cope with so much Eco, thinking of you but glad you were seen tonight and it's looking positive. Now get plenty of rest!

Feeling a bit nauseous tonight. I also have awful wind too. Have been enjoying too much sparkling water and now regretting it!

I also think that my nipples may be a but darker too, but its hard to be sure. Will need to monitor!!

EcoHippyMum · 17/04/2013 23:35

Thanks Harverina, I am still analysing some data, I am somewhat behind but not massively (I hope). BSc Ecology &Conservation... Feel a bit too stupid now to be nearly a graduate in it!

I too have been drinking sparkling water! And wind, urge that and getting constipation - ate a packet of dried apricots which has helped but still windy.

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 18/04/2013 00:48

Thanks everyone!

Mines - totally agree about the Bravado bras. I had mine fitted by an NCT fitter last time round and walked out of her house wearing one, it was such a relief! I had three on rotation for the first 8-9 months and then three more - BF DD until 17 months when I discovered blue line number two! I'm ordering more right now to collect when I come over to the UK next month, they're cheaper back home than in the US.

Eco - that's great news. PM me if I can help you, that's my brother's field and he's just about finishing his PhD so knows his stuff!

Mumma - glad telling your parents went ok!

Harv - I know, 32 degrees last week was brutal! Cooler now but still manged to get sunburnt at the weekend... Think it's pregnancy making my skin different?! Have heard it is possible...

MsFanackerPants · 18/04/2013 02:17

Eco I'm glad it seems to be positive news. Definitely request an extension from the university. The additional stress of trying to battle a deadline is really not worth it. It's really not cheating. If you were in an exam and the fire alarm went off, you'd expect the extra time wouldn't you? Try to think of it that way.

Mumma, I think most things are made easier with the presence/presents of chocolate. My mum was shocked but also so pleased. She's now talking to me about cots and stuff, she's looked at it more than I have.

I am still feeling pukey all the time. As well as worn out. This morning I threw up in the bedroom and caught it in order to save the carpet. I think this means I am ready to be a parent. Mostly I feel pretty miserable though, very tearful. I am so pleased to be having a baby but hating these first few weeks. I feel very guilty even typing that as I've not had any other worries about bleeding etc, but feeling so poorly is really getting to me. I'm concerned it will trigger my depression to be honest. I'm already on anti-d's but feel like I have withdrawal dizziness so I think I need to see my GP. A bad bout of depression is much more of a threat to me and Bissellah than the teeny risk from the medication.

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 05:26

Whoooooohoooo! 13W and officially into 2nd trimester!

When is the last persons 12w scan?? I think we should mark that day and afterwards all have a huge emotional virtual group hug! Smile Envy(and of course remember those less fortunate Thanks)

I never realised this first stage would be filled with so much pain, grief and stress for so many. At least we all have each other and can be there to help everyone through this first stage (and beyond)

Good luck with any scans today, I know I can only speak for myself but I'm sure I'm not alone in enjoying hearing the good stories. I feel inappropriate to be celebrating on here sometimes but I know personally that hearing other positive stories gives me hope and calms my somewhat neurotic stressing

Good luck ladies and keep strong and healthy, hopefully this will be a good day xx

MsFanackerPants · 18/04/2013 05:59

It might be mine. EDD is 28 Nov and I don't book in til week 10 so don't have a scan date yet. Eight weeks today!

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 06:02

8 weeks will fly by!! It feels like only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant.... I now have full on bump convinced its mainly all the crap I've eaten, but bump all the same

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 06:03

Sorry, just reread... Only 4 weeks to wait.... No long now Smile

Fairydogmother · 18/04/2013 07:25

Hope you feel better msfanpants

I'm 11+4 - this has felt like the longest time period of my life! Prob because I knew sooo early on that I was pregnant!

I have my end of year performance review today Confused. I don't get on with my line manager at all - in fact she seems to revel in dumping me in the shit all the time. I'm going to have to say something today but pretty scared. She's dented my confidence so badly. So think of me about 11am and send me some balls to tackle her!

Animol · 18/04/2013 07:37

Take care eco - glad you got good news - try and rest as much as you can - you deserve it.

All the best fairy is there a smiley for what you want us to send you?! Hope it goes OK.

My scan's on 30 April

minesahotchocolate my belly looks like that too. I kind of look pregnant - about 5months but it's just flab :(

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 07:48

How

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 07:48

*damn ipad

How are you feeling today Eco?? Taking it easy i hope!!

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 07:56

Fairy, I feel for you.... I used to have a witch of a line manager (that has since left due to a breakdown) that used to make my life hell (and others) she even tried to get me sacked by making up stuff like I was sabotaging databases etc!! crazy bitch so I'll be thinking of you Smile virtual gigantic bollocks on there way to you

Dizzy81 · 18/04/2013 07:59

Morning all.

Eco how are you feeling?

15 days to my scan where I'll be 13 weeks. Am a mixed bundle of emotions about it, but keeping calm. I had a private scan at 7 + 4 and I feel like it happened last year!

Fairy, good luck.

Yesterday wasn't a good day for me, dru heaving, feeling dizzy, hot and just all round general blurgh!!!

Got some ore leggings and z new bra an e cup, and man it feels soo comfy

EcoHippyMum · 18/04/2013 08:34

Morning ladies, I am hardly spotting at all this morning. Feel fine, bloody tired though! I am not going to uni today, staying home - I no doubt will get far more done anyway! Might just have a kip though :P

Going to see how I feel come Sunday night, if I have done enough then I am not going to ask for the extension, if I am struggling by that point then I will.

Thanks for the offer Wibbly!

Re bras - Sainsburys have some nice crop top style bras, I bought large but think extra large may have been better, but certainly more comfortable than sports bras!

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 08:37

Glad to hear things are sounding better for you Eco. Smile

CheeseandGherkins · 18/04/2013 08:49

Eco I'm glad things are improving. Make sure you rest and no stress!

I've decided to go to the fetal medical centre in London for my nuchal scan, been there before and loved it. They're offering the harmony test for free if you're 10 weeks so I'm going on Wednesday for a quick scan to check and then have bloods taken. It's all in the price for the nuchal so we will go back two weeks after that for the results and the scan.

Feeling sick on and off still and not enjoying the injecting. Really craving chocolate and cake but I can't now. Bloody gestational diabetes.

I have hospital appointments to tomorrow, 3! Blood tests I'm not looking forward to, hate needles. Hope everyone had a good night.

getoffthecoffeetable · 18/04/2013 09:15

Ladies in the know - was there anything you had to do about your DC getting chickenpox while you're pregnant? Nursery have just sent DS home with it. I've definitely had it when I was younger. Thanks.

getoffthecoffeetable · 18/04/2013 09:17

eco that sounds really positive. Hope that the time flies by until your scan.

MissTweed · 18/04/2013 09:18

Get off.... If you've had it you should be immune although I don't have any DC so don't know
