favellio · 15/04/2013 18:31

Thinking of you smitten Thanks

HotSoupDumpling · 15/04/2013 18:36

Good luck smitten. I've heard the harmony test is very good but results take some time to come back (there are a few helpful threads on the antenatal testing board). Hoping you get some reassurance and good advice soon. Flowers

Crookie1 · 15/04/2013 18:44

Sorry to hear that Smitten.

Thinking of you smitten

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/04/2013 19:07

Smitten sorry to hear your worrying results. Still that is more than a 93% chance that everything is fine.

Welcome Carlie and anyone I missed.

I cannot believe the comments you heard from midwives legally and MoN. That is shocking and so unprofessional! It seems bizarre that pre-birth all the advice from government and midwives is to breast feed, then afterwards there seems to be a a switch to pressuring you to bottle feed and a lack of support.

I just have to remember when the time comes that all the babies in my family tend to lose quite a bit of weight after birth, put it back on quite slowly and are below the 25th percentiles for size generally and have been little for 3 generations. I am prepared that I will be told my baby isn't gaining enough weight and to ff but I hope I will be strong enough to stick to my guns and do what I feel is right for me and my child and hope I don't end up feeling rubbish abut it. It makes. Me so cross that women are not supported properly at such a vulnerable time.

Re pushchairs, my friend has been trying to convince me of the virtues of the bugaboo bee which is meant to be the easiest to collapse one handed and fits in the back of a mini. I think they are very expensive though.

When/where do you get it? I'll have to try and upload a pic. Hope the harmony scan helps you come to the decision thats right for you and your partner

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/04/2013 19:19

I told my boss my news today. She said it was a pain for cover, that I probably wouldn't be able to come back part time as there are too many people doing that and it is unmanageable Hmm and also that I shouldn't tell anyone else at school until 16 weeks in case something goes wrong Confused . But she did congratulate me and recommended having two close together like she did which surprised me! She also said it wouldn't affect my going for promotion and a pay rise for September so that is good. I am glad to get it out of the way, I was really nervous.

I spent ages last night choosing an outfit to disguise my bump as i thought people would notice the change after two weeks off and it must have worked as one person said I am not allowed to join the staff weigh in today as I am too little. Yes! Although I did get quite a few long looks at my tummy from some others that know me better. Within the first 5 minutes of the day a girl in my class said I looked beautiful today (aww just what I needed) two others said I look different and another one said its because I have different clothes now! 5 and 6 years olds are very perceptive. Or perhaps just don't know yet to keep their observations in their head.

Thinking of you Smitten. That still means 14 out of 15 chances you'll be fine though.

On the BF vs FF debate, it's funny how culturally determined it is. The BF rate in France is much lower and there's none of the pressure on mums to BF that there is in the UK. I've only ever seen someone BFing in public once.

TheFalconsmistress · 15/04/2013 19:22

orange we were the same with the bee we are going with the maxi cosi streety its £289 at argos and it comes with a maxi cosi infant car seat for that price also folds down one handed! I saw it and had a play and was convinced the footmuff that comes with is really good quality too Smile

TheFalconsmistress · 15/04/2013 19:23

sorry its a streety + they have made a few adjustments for the better since the first one Smile

legallyblond · 15/04/2013 19:29

Sorry about the results Smitten. It is still likely that all is fine...

My 16w midwife appointment was eventful. She did the Doppler and couldn't be sure that she was hearing two heartbeats, so sent me then and there for an emergency scan... Half an hour later and two 16.3 week babies alive and well on screen! Phew! Worrying half hour though...

Wickedgirl · 15/04/2013 19:31

Smitten...... You had a 2.9 measurement like me didn't you? I had harmony test (at 11+2) and mine came back clear. It takes 2 full weeks to get the results back. I hope it's good news for you x

TheFalconsmistress · 15/04/2013 19:35

Thats great news legally not nice to worry like that for any amount of time though xx

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/04/2013 19:39

Phew good news legally. So glad they scanned you straight away rather than sending you home with that worry for a later scan. Still I imagine that half an hour felt like much longer. Hooray for two little twins!

Thanks for that falcon. I definitely think you need to have a play with buggies and seeing how they feel in real life.

Just been signed off for three weeks with anxiety :/

Not good. Blinking needle phobia turned me into a shaking mass of teary jelly.

Hoping to wind down for 3 weeks and spend some lovely time with Dd before she becomes a big sister and I can no longer tell her she is my most favourite person.

I'm hoping for a boy for the stupid reason I can have a favourite girl and favourite boy lol. How say is that? However if it is a girl then it will be lovely for dd growing up together

So I guess on balance I'm happy either way! We are finding out the sex on June 10th which is the day we come back from our holiday to flamingo land!

Very excited to go although gutted I can't go on the big rides now! I have volunteered my services to take dd and dneice on the galloping horses and big slide lol.
Maybe the pirate ship hides bump lol

Anyone buying a pushchair, after giving friends lifts and going all over the shop with various pushchair I can NOT stress how much better it is to get one that has one handed fold, an folds in one piece.

Smitten1981 · 15/04/2013 19:49

Wicked - yes. It was my bloods that were the issue it seems, the midwife said the nuchal measurement was normal.

I've spoken to ARC this afternoon about the best thing to do and they said that the only thing that can give you a yes/no answer is a diagnostic test, so a CVS. I can't wait another 2 weeks for an amnio.

I think the Harmony will just throw up more ratios and we need a yes or no answer.

We're booking a private CVS tomorrow so hopefully this will be over with as soon as possible one way or the other.

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/04/2013 19:53

Notyomama sooty to hear you are feeling anxious. I hope the time off does you good.

Smitten I hope going private means you should be able to get a cvs nice and quickly to put your mind at rest and get an answer one way or the other soon.

MotherOfNations · 15/04/2013 20:08

I'm only a year older than you Cazboldy and catching up though since this will be my 5th c-section going for number 6 would be risky.

MotherOfNations · 15/04/2013 20:18

Sooty I'm so sorry you're going through this too but try to remember that the odds are still in your favour. Bear in mind that the risk of miscarriage with CVS is double that of the amnio and there is also more chance of them not collecting enough tissue and having to do the test twice which is risky.

MotherOfNations · 15/04/2013 20:19

I meant smitten not sooty. Sorry.
