Morning Grin

Scan day and I am so nervous i thought i would feel fine but no here are the nerves....Oh well wish me luck by 6pm I should know if I have a girl bump or a boy bump!!!!

Haylebop12 · 20/04/2013 09:19

Oooh falcon exciting stuff! Good luck!

ananikifo · 20/04/2013 09:26

Good luck falconmistress! I hope you have a nice time seeing and learning about your baby!

A colleague had twins and a high-risk pregnancy for other reasons and her main advice to me was to enjoy being pregnant. She feels like she missed out because she was so worried the whole time. I'm trying to follow her advice but as a natural worrier (even when nothing is actually wrong) it's not easy.

DH and I had a serious discussion about finances and I don't think we're doing NCT classes. We've been told the NHS ones are good in our area, we've already bought books, and we have better things to spend money on. It's disappointing but the right decision.

Our neighbours invited us to an NCT sale today but they didn't know it was an NCT sale. They thought it was just organised by their friend's local church. I tried to explain to them how I'd been able to look up the location and everything online, and what the NCT is, and why they would do sales, and I ended up feeling like a big geek who spends too much time on the Internet! Anyway even if we don't buy baby things there will be a cake stall so out time won't be wasted Smile

MotherOfNations · 20/04/2013 10:07

I don't remember feeling very worried when pregnant with any of the others. I was told with my first at a growth scan that he was dangerously small and they'd have to induce me, even then I wasn't worried. I ended up needing an emergency section and he was born weighing 7lb 6oz so not small at all.
I think I instinctively knew he was fine.
I've been worried all the way through this pregnancy, like I was expecting something to be wrong. There must be something in the whole mother's instinct thing.

pinkmoonlight · 20/04/2013 12:23

I worry about absolutely everything too, but I think that's just the way I am! Luckily, DH is much more chilled out than me and gives me a sense of perspective!

It's taken me ages to catch up on this thread- I've been a bit quiet because we had the joy of Ofsted on Thu and Fri this week! Which of course resulted in an emotional breakdown and I was violently sick 3 times before school on the Thursday! My head had to tell the inspectors that I'm pregnant and that he had given me permission to run out the room to be sick if needed! So glad it's all over and my own observations went brilliantly. Of course, I'm now worried about how stressed I was!

Am now sitting in the sunshine happy that for the first time in 2 years I am not living in fear of an imminent ofsted and can just relax and look forward to baby arriving! Smile

Shootingstarsandcomets · 20/04/2013 13:06

I am determined to enjoy this pregnancy after worrying through my last one. I was high risk because my waters broke at 25 weeks cue a week in hospital and doom and gloom from the doctors who have ds very bad odds of surviving if I went into labour. I leaked all the way up to 36 weeks when he was delivered by c section as they thought i was getting an infection. He was fine Smile. I don't expect the same thing to happen as its pretty rare for waters to break so early so I'm just trying to enjoy myself and carry on as normal. My hospital is 1.5 hours away as I've opted to not use my local as I hated the way I was treated last time. Enjoy the sun everyone

Shirehobbit · 20/04/2013 13:16

Congratulations on surviving OFSTED pinkmoonlight!
We're way overdue a visit, too.

Sanjifair · 20/04/2013 15:39

Smitten, I had the choice of two hospitals and chose the Rosie. It is about 40 mins for me too, vs 30 mins for the other one.

Smitten1981 · 20/04/2013 17:10

The other one wasn't Lister was it Sanji? What do you think of The Rosie?

cherrycherry41 · 20/04/2013 17:15

Excited to hear back from falcon's scan..!

Sanjifair · 20/04/2013 17:28

Smitten, no it wasn't the lister. I had good care at the Rosie last time. Was a difficult birth with complications but I have no issues with how it was handled. The midwives were lovely.

OrangeBlossom2 · 20/04/2013 17:50

Hope the scan went well falcon. Excited to hear your news!

Pink well done on surviving the inspection. We are asking ofsted to come back in July as we got requires improvement in October but hmi came shortly afterwards and said we are good. They can trigger another ofsted apparently. I thought I wouldn't be there for the next one, boo.

I had to go shopping to return some maternity clothes I bought online from next (be aware you have to pay for postage again to return by post and only have 8 days, not the usual month to bring things back) so had a look at all the baby stuff in John Lewis. Bought a cushion to help me sleep better but holding off buying actual baby stuff until we have made room to store it. Got my fix though! Also picked up my bounty pack. Got a bath towel, sudocrem, a full bottle of moisturiser and some other little samples. The book comparing pushchairs, car seats, cots etc is useful too.

That's not quite right about next, orange blossom, you can have things delivered to a store, (no delivery charge) then try them on there and then, and give them back and get a refund if you don't want them. Also, even if you do get them delivered to your home, you can drop them off in store and get a refund there, so don't need to pay postage to send back.

Sanjifair · 20/04/2013 18:27

Oops, just re read your post and you were returning them to store. Misunderstood, sorry!

OrangeBlossom2 · 20/04/2013 18:42

Yes I didnt want to pay twice. It isn't lots but we are trying to save money where we can. (saving £3 something on the postage yet spending £100 on the new clothes makes sense to me ... Hmm Blush )

MotherOfNations · 20/04/2013 18:56

Congratulations Falcon.

Natalieand · 20/04/2013 18:58

Yay congrats falcon how exciting I'm hoping for a second little girl but think our finances mean we will have to wait for NHS scan to find out!

What do u ladies think of the name Scarlette??

Tarlia · 20/04/2013 19:04

Hi Ladies, just catching up! We were hit by a nasty cold and I've been having huge bp issues which almost lead to an admittance, thankfully it's back down, but I'm still getting the odd palpitations and swollen legs already.

Congrats on your scan falcon. Willow is a lovely name!!

I'm sorry to hear we've had more worrying news on the thread - fingers crossed for good news for all three of you!

Can't even remember what else I read now, it took a few days to catch up. Ummm..

Nat I think your fears are very normal, but if you think the thoughts are taking over then def book a quick chat with your dr before things get worse. My baby will be sharing too, be it girl or boy. I think it's nice for siblings to share when they are so close in age anyway. We are inner city and have just moved to the max we can afford presently as OH is a student. We are very lucky to have a lovely big open plan sitting/diner/kitchen and balcony and I think play space is the main thing for children whether that be indoors or out.

OrangeBlossom2 · 20/04/2013 19:05

I love it Natalie but DH said no because people might think we named after Scarlet Johansen. Ditto Sienna which I also like. He is really fussy!
