I went to a wedding last year when 34 weeks I was massive but it was actually really fun. I had a little nap after the meal then came back down for a dance and went to bed at 9 nice and early but then I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so wandered back down to the bar to find the stragglers who were all hilarious. Laughed at them until about 4am when everyone went to bed. And I loved getting up for breakfast and seeing everyone struggle with a hangover Grin
Could also murder a glass of rose. I have actually had the odd drink and will at special occasions. Had a glass of champers last weekend for ds christening and next weekend am in Paris so would be rude not to indulge Grin. I was so strict last time but second time round I'm a bit more relaxed about stuff but obviously not going to have more than one small glass a week or even every week at that.
Enjoy the weekend everyone and hope it goes quickly for you smitten. Ie got my booking in appointment with the midwife on Sunday- bit late!

Claphammama · 19/04/2013 19:35

Likewise. Now that I've passed the 12 weeks mark I'm planning to allow myself a small glass of wine once a week. Small - not the pub size 250 ml monster. And only when I'm desperate. my GP neighbour says it's OK.

DP laughs saying that I'm a cheap date now. So bought an expensive handbag today to put him straight. I don't like to mislead people and would hate him to get some wrong ideas... :-)

Hope it will compensate for the wine-less Friday night, after a nasty week at work.

Flyer747 · 19/04/2013 19:38

I really wanted a glass of wine last night as I went for a Thai meal with friends it was lush....I could drink the bottle though, but I didn't just had a small glass...DP and I are out for Spanish Tapas tonight it's gonna kill me not being able to have a glass of Rioja with the tapas....will have a sniff on his glass and get high on the fumes instead.

Enjoy the weekend ladies xx

MoN if this was Facebook I would have liked your comment.

We didn't have tests but will be sleepless before 20wk scan in case baby has same condition as dc1

MotherOfNations · 19/04/2013 20:15

I'm always wishing for a like button on here. I suppose if the worst happens you'll know what to expect jellycurls.

JellyCurls · 19/04/2013 20:18

I dread the 20wk scan MoN but nothing can be as bad as what we went through before. Us mums are strong and can get through anything.

Whoever mentioned Rose wine is bad, now I really want a glass but I don't even like the stuff

Claphammama · 19/04/2013 20:20

sorry!!!!

MotherOfNations · 19/04/2013 20:22

Even if my amnio comes back clear I'll still have the agonising wait for the scan too to check for other defects. Chances are there will be something wrong.
I craved tuna in my first 3 pregnancies even though I can't stand the stuff normally.

Natalieand · 19/04/2013 20:54

Lol jelly and MON I too often wish for a like button on here!

jelly I'm not sure if u said before or if I missed but what was the complication with ds at the twenty week scan? Xx

roxvox · 19/04/2013 21:01

Speaking of cravings, has anyone had any yet? I could pretty much eat KFC at any time of day, but I am not sure that's really a pregnancy craving!

JellyCurls · 19/04/2013 21:06

natalie at 20wk scan they discovered that babies brain hadn't developed properly and bits were missing. Also problems with spinal chord and heart.

DC1 is now a very healthy, very chatty 6 yr old who has problems but is doing better than they ever said she would.

Natalieand · 19/04/2013 21:12

Aww sorry about that jelly didn't mean to be in sensitive xxx

That's good news tho that dc1 is thriving :-) I guess ppl often think once they are past the 12 week screening everything is safe but obviously that's not always the case xxx

JellyCurls · 19/04/2013 21:37

Don't worry natalie I love talking about DC1 she is our own little miracle and makes us proud every single day Grin.

Shirehobbit · 19/04/2013 21:45

Now that last post super deserves a Jellycurls

Smitten1981 · 19/04/2013 22:06

Going on a bit of a rant here but at no point has my midwife, or any of the other professionals I have seen for that matter, mentioned that the test is for anything other than Down's.

The only reason I even have a clue about any of the other conditions they do the test for is purely from this thread.

I'm really not happy with the standard of communication from my hospital. The form I was given yesterday said I had decided to have a CVS after counselling. All I got was a phonecall and was told to look at a website. No option of counselling was even given.

If we get the all clear I'll be switching hospitals ASAP.

Claphammama · 19/04/2013 22:35

this sounds awful smitten. do you have other good hospitals near you?

Purplefan · 19/04/2013 22:38

MoN will keep an eye out for your outcome, but feel free to contact me personally if you get a result of ts or just want to chat things through. That goes for anyone else in the same position. I have been there. Will leave you all to your cravings and rock and roll evenings lol x

Smitten1981 · 19/04/2013 22:41

Yes, I'm hoping if all goes well with the results to transfer to The Rosie, which is the maternity part of Addenbrookes in Cambridge.

I've already called them to ask if I can transfer and they said yes, I just need a referral from my GP.

They have a much better rep than the hospital I'm at now, downside is it's a 40 minute drive away.

GTbaby · 20/04/2013 01:05

Smith. Someone on previous thread was a 20min helicopter journey away from her main hospital. Obviously need to get to helipad first as well. And there had to be clear skies for helicopter to fly. So don't worry about how far it is!

GTbaby · 20/04/2013 01:05

That was to smitten!

HotSoupDumpling · 20/04/2013 05:10

Sniffing the wine does help...I had a long sniff and little taste of an expensive wine recently, and it did help me feel a little less left out! (Am avoiding alcohol altogether as I was a super-lightweight even before being pregs).

Smitten, that is really frustrating. Generally I've learnt everything about pregnancy from Mumsnet and books, and hardly anything from the hospital, midwife or GP. They barely explained the purpose or nature of the combined test to me.

OrangeBlossom2 · 20/04/2013 08:29

Smitten I too only learnt that the test could pick up heart conditions and other chromosome issues more serious than downs on this thread.

Smitten - my hospital is about an hour 20 away by car, though daytime public transport I could do it more like an hour! It's because of some other health issues that I've been advised to go there, but I am a bit nervous about how easy it will be when the time comes..,
No helicopter for me sadly Smile

I hadnt really thought about the nervousness of 20 weeks scan either - I get the impression this whole first pregnancy thing is easing myself into a lifetime of worry about the baby!!

Smitten1981 · 20/04/2013 08:56

I know. I was saying to DH last night that I don't know if I could have another and go through all this stress again. It's one worry after another.

I thought it'd be all "I love being pregnant", but to be honest I haven't liked it very much at all so far.

Natalieand · 20/04/2013 08:58

I was a nervous wreck throug my first pregnant about what could go wrong I thought I would be fine this time round as I had been there done that but I'm just as nervous this time. Isit the same for u ladies on baby number 3,4,5,6 etc....
