Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

onelittle - hope you're ok. Yes, we started the same day (Wednesday), I'm sure that pushing will force a bit more blood out.

Everything I've read says it could be absolutely fine, so I'm trying not to worry. Like you say, there's not a lot we can do, and the stress and worry will only make things worse.

Good luck for Tuesday. Mine is Monday 22nd - it can't come soon enough!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 12/04/2013 12:09

berry other than feeling a bit low, I'm ok. Hope you are ok too.

Dizzy81 · 12/04/2013 12:21

Hadmy booking in bloods and ouch, as my vien in my left arm was hard to find. Thankfully the right arm decided to play ball.

One little and berry bomb, sending positive thoughts your way

SpanishLady · 12/04/2013 12:49

Hi all,

well after my slightly odd booking in appointment my mum staged an intervention and booked me a private scan for last night.

In we go and immediately see a lovely baby kicking its feet and punching its funny little arms - could see heartbeat as well - measuring 10 weeks - relief!

then sonographer says right thats one.....oh hold on....yes, theres another.....

so am joing the boob and am having twins!!!! We are pretty shocked as you can imagine and my DH couldnt speak for about 10 mins but he has sent me an email this morning saying hes been thinking about it and it is what it is and we will make it work and it will be fine.

We already have a little boy who will be about 2.11 yrs when the twins get here and I really dont know how we are gong to afford 3 kids to be honest but well there we have it

oddly I feel great physically today - headaches and sickness gone!

berrybomb · 12/04/2013 12:52

Congrats Spanish - can't believe we have 2 sets of twins now! This is very exciting.

littlemonkey2013 · 12/04/2013 13:01

wow congrats SpanishLady 2nd set of twins on here. im sure it will be so exciting for you.

so after not feeling sick after having a proper dinner last night, i just feel really sick today no matter what i eat or drink. also i think my nipples have doubled in size overnight.

im not needing any bigger clothes yet, though i do have a bit of a swollen stomach, looks like i just had a really big meal. baby should still be really low down yet so its maybe just pushing everything else up a bit yet.

i cant wait for my next scan a week today

OneLittleToddleTerror · 12/04/2013 13:02

It's such a great news spanish. Your mum is so lovely, it must be the best gift after that truly horrid midwife. Your DH is right. You'll make it work. At least now you have 30 weeks to prepare mentally for it Wink

Fairydogmother · 12/04/2013 13:29

fab news spanish!

SpanishLady · 12/04/2013 13:31

thanks everyone - the most common reaction so far has been 'what are you going to do?' - but told my team at work and they have been all lovely and supportive - my boss has twins so hope she will be understanding and know what to do!

Am abit concerned that twins tend to come between 34-38 weeks but can only hope I can get to 37 weeks!

We didnt get much information so am looking forward to the scan on Wednesday and get to ask if they are sharing a placenta etc

Fairydogmother · 12/04/2013 13:35

they do generally come earlier but thats not necessarily a bad thing. my friends twins were over 6lbs each at birth!

shes never really had an issue with coping with two - just might be a strain to breast feed both all the time but you'll be able to supplement with formula or entirely feed formula etc.

you'll be grand!

TiredFeet · 12/04/2013 13:45

congratulations Spanish!!! good that your boss will be able to hopefully be supportive / give you tips, and also my friend gets lots of support from the multiples board on here Smile.

TiredFeet · 12/04/2013 13:48

oh onelittle and berry, sorry to see about the spotting, sending best wishes and hopefully everything will be ok

MissTweed · 12/04/2013 13:59

Congrats on the twins!! Wine

DittyRatt · 12/04/2013 14:21

Afternoon everyone

Congrats to boob and Spanish on your twin news how exciting. Twins do tend to be early as it can be risky for the babies to go the full 40 weeks.

I too have got a slight bump (am 10+3) I am a skinny mini though and this is my 3rd. Still trying to hide things for a few more weeks though.

Re: abortion; it is absolutely ridiculous how thing differ from area to area. I am a firm believer that it should depend on your own circumstances and be up to the mother. Here it is one of the first things you are asked by the doctor. You go in to get your midwife referral and the first question the doctor asks is are you keeping it or do you want an abortion?

Re: tests; I have no desire to have the downs test as for me it won't matter either way, the baby would still be kept and loved. But I do assume that I have a low risk in any case as I am only 20.

harverina · 12/04/2013 14:33

Wow Spanish congratulations!! That's great news and what a lovely present from your mum Grin you will manage fine, I course you will, just use any help/support offered and let people chip in with the hard work Wink

stuffthenonsense · 12/04/2013 14:47

Oh more twins! That's amazing news, I am so jealous.
I'm bucking the trend here and have just cancelled my routine scan which was due Tuesday....should I find reason to worry then I will reconsider and have a scan as and when. I have been mulling it over for weeks and weeks and it actually feels good to have made a decision one way or another.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 12/04/2013 14:53

DittyRatt I didn't get ask if I want to keep it at all both times. But then I'm 35 when I'm with my first, so I don't think I fit the profile of someone asking for an abortion Grin. Maybe if I go in again at 45! I hear it's mostly teens and 40+ asking for them nowadays.

notsoold · 12/04/2013 15:21

Had my 12 week scan today and baby is well...so relieved after last year mmc.... I am beside myself in happiness!!!:)
Congratulations om the twins ....

getoffthecoffeetable · 12/04/2013 15:31

Fairydogmother · 12/04/2013 15:41

Not - great news!

We will need to do a stats thread at some point since we're flying through scans! How on earth we will I dont know tho lol

OneLittleToddleTerror · 12/04/2013 15:47

fairy, yes, I see those stats threads for other months. Do you just seed it with the latest stats updates we got? It's a good time to start one too given we are at 923 messages and need another thread soon. Then it could be posted on page 1 like a sticky.

Fairydogmother · 12/04/2013 15:52

We had one about 3 threads ago lol and it gave everyone's edd etc tho how the hell you collate all that info easily is beyond me!

My brain has deserted me so I'm not a lot of help lol

OneLittleToddleTerror · 12/04/2013 15:55

fairy I'm confused now. I thought you mean in a separate thread like this

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1708888-October-2013-bus-STATS-THREAD

for the october bus? Did we really have one?
