Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OneLittleToddleTerror · 09/04/2013 08:58

boymeetsworld how many weeks are you now? I'm 11 weeks, and since last week, my symptons are mostly gone, with an odd day of nausea only. I basically only have tiredness and farts left. I think it's normal for symptons to ease once we are approaching the second trimester.

Fairydogmother · 09/04/2013 09:02

Thanks mother!

Waiting for scan and hosp dates is a complete pain - every flipping day I was racing to the letterbox!

I do hate having to take a sample tho - how the hell are you supposed to pee in that wee thing?! Confused

JBrd · 09/04/2013 09:03

BoyMeetsWorld I would give the EPU a call and ask if they can help with severe sickness. I remember that at mine, they had posters and leaflets about hyperemesis hanging everywhere, encouraging women to ask for help rather earlier than later. I would've thought that's what an Early Pregnancy Unit should be there for?! Can't hurt to ask, if you're struggling so much with ms.

Oooh, I love horses, I used to ride, too, when I was younger. Never had my own, though. But all I get to do these days is to treat myself to a horseriding holiday once in a while - been to Ireland and Iceland a couple of times, it was brilliant.
But how on earth do you manage riding when pg? I thought that's one of the few sports they really advise you against, like skiing?

Feeling distinctly bleurgh today, DH had to take over dressing DS because I suddenly had to sit down, feeling dizzy and naseous. Ah well, I suppose it's a good sign Confused

getoffthecoffeetable · 09/04/2013 09:09

Thanks mother
I think it's just my impatience rather than an error though. They've got the right address as I've had my consultant's appointment through. The midwife said it'd take two weeks to process and it's not been two weeks yet since my booking in appointment.

MTB82 · 09/04/2013 10:04

Hi All

Hope all are well. I'm not even going to attempt to try and catch up with everything I've missed over the last 2 weeks but hope scans and booking appts are now in full flow and everyone is starting to feel better.

I've got my scan on Thurs and just can't wait!!

Got my booking appointment today at 1:30, kind of dreading it. The closer I get to scan date the more I dread that too... So scared something will be wrong! Although seem to be peeing even more for England now, anyone else having this?
Would love to know why I keep waking up with a stuffy nose, its ever so irritating!

EcoHippyMum · 09/04/2013 10:34

:( Suffolk my 10 year old had it last year, found baths with oatmeal in a sock helped a little at first... They feel so poorly you feel awful x

berrybomb · 09/04/2013 10:45

boymeets I had exactly the same when I woke up at about 9 weeks and went into a major panic, but everything was absolutely fine, and it was just the symptoms reducing. they still come back a little since then, but not very strong. try not to worry.

JBrd · 09/04/2013 11:04

Eco I'm with you on the stuffy nose, but it's a very common pg symptom (pregnancy rhinitis)! I had it really bad as well when pg with DS.
The good thing is, it disappears almost immediately after giving birth.

boymeetsworld - don't panic! I think it is normal to have some symptom free days. Even last time, when my hyperemesis was severe, I had the odd day when my symptoms vanished and I would managed to eat a sandwich and sit out in the sunshine (it always had to be a ham baguette from the local sandwich shop - I cried when DH bought me a ham sandwich from a different shop Blush ).

do go and still see your DR. and while you are having a symptom free day try and drink as much as possible and have your vitamins etc. build up strength Smile. I don't know if you can go straight to EPU for vomiting but no harm to ring them and ask. Mine have said I can self -refer to Epu now that I have been admitted once. also - a tip from the hyperemesis support thread is to buy the test sticks and test for ketones at home (its just a dip in urine test). I am planning to do this, and then will be easier to know if it is bad enough to drag myself to dr/ hospital!

good luck at the hospital fairy !

getoff I don't have scan date either. only just got my midwife date and that's not for another two weeks...

EcoHippyMum · 09/04/2013 11:27

I will have to dig the oil as out then! I am also seeming to be ever more tired, like I can't get enough sleep!

BoyMeetsWorld · 09/04/2013 11:59

Thanks lots everyone. I'm sat in drs waiting room now so hopefully will get some sense soon.

Still being sick today (after lull first thing) but boobs def not hurting now.

That's really interesting about the ketone sticks - so what do they test for, what are they called and do you just get them in boots?

I'm only 7 weeks today so not sure symptoms should be fading - but could well just be paranoid after mc.

Fairy - your mare sounds lovely!! I used to have an IDxTB chestnut mare too Smile she was stroppy but so wonderful - I had her from 9 until she died at a grand old age. What have you decided re: riding?

MummaPanda · 09/04/2013 12:11

Luckily dds temp has gone down to 37 today and she seems a lot more herself so hopefully she was just fighting something off.
Woohoo a week til scan Smile

bizzybee1234 · 09/04/2013 12:31

I have put on so much weight, I just feel like a beached whale! Can't stop eating because it makes me feel less sick. Anyone else?

berrybomb · 09/04/2013 12:43

I have no idea how work haven't figured it out - I am really showing, and keep nipping to the shops for various crisp cravings!

Luckily the scales still say I'm the same weight though!

firsttimemummyy · 09/04/2013 12:45

Just had my annual appraisal at work and thought it was a good time to tell my bosses (two lovely women) that I am pregnant - first non-family people I have told - and for no reason whatsoever the second the 'I am pregnant' left my lips I burst into floods of tears! Completely unexpected and so embarrassing! I think it was their 'aww' faces that set me off. I hope I do not do this every time I tell people! Although I'll be on guard for it from now on so hopefully can keep myself in control.

I'm 10 weeks today (scan next Friday at 11+3 - can't wait!) and in the last 3 days a lot of my sickness symptoms have vanished. Boobs are still sore but that's it. I am actually a bit worried because I am not showing at all - nothing - and I haven't gained even a pound in weight. Never thought I'd be wishing weight gain each morning but I am. I'm quite tall and slim so I'm hoping that the lack of bump/weight gain is just because I'm spread out a bit more inside and haven't been eating too much cause of the sickness, not because little bean isn't growing :(

williaminajetfighter · 09/04/2013 12:50

bizzy I think we are all eating for england. I cannot stop. Luckily only gained about 1 1/2 pounds, partly because I'm not eating huge amounts, just frequently. It's the only way NOT to feel sick.

I forgot to tell everyone something funny that happened at my scan. The trainee scanner was scanning my stomach area and the screen was quite zoomed out showing, on one side, this round area that looked like there were massive waves and huge convulsions going on inside it. I said to them --- 'what the heck is that?' oh, that's your bowels..... The shame!... no surprise though as they looked the way they feel and the gas is truly out of control.

williaminajetfighter · 09/04/2013 12:51

also wanted to say I have a Mcdonalds chocolate shake yesterday and they are the BEST thing for MS. Sooooo soothing. Will be stopping by McD's again today!

Fairydogmother · 09/04/2013 12:54

Back from the hospital! V impressed at the service - no waiting around at all for bloods, midwife and consultant. Saw the little jellybean waving its arms about and now measured another day ahead at 10+2. Another 2 photos to add to the album too.

They gave me the most almighty pile of paperwork! A huge green file, pregnancy book that's as thick as the bible, tonnes of leaflets in a plastic folder and a bounty pack!

Does seen far more real now and I even shed a wee tear when I saw the arms waving about

OneLittleToddleTerror · 09/04/2013 12:55

The babycentre app suggested a smoothie last time. So there must be some logic to the milkshake thing Grin

firsttimemummyy · 09/04/2013 13:00

fairy I can imagine you shed a tear.. I was watching '11 week scans' on youtube at the weekend (bit of a naughty treat but just seems like forEVER till my scan so I am living it vicariously through other people's you tube clips at the moment!) and I cried the first one I saw with the little arms and legs moving around, was so sweet!

Fairydogmother · 09/04/2013 13:07

It was very surreal and very comforting all at the same time. To see the change in 2 weeks was great too. I've to have an extra scan at 28 weeks because of my thyroid problem so I'm pleased we will get another peek at baby!

They also made all my appointments in advance which is great for fitting in with work etc although thankfully the hospital is right beside my work!

JBrd · 09/04/2013 13:30

Fairy Great that your scan went well! I'm always amazed at the mountain of paperwork that being pg involves... Currently working my way through the book that I need to fill in for my booking appt (maybe that's why it's called 'book'ing appt?!).
One advice on the Bounty Pack - there are really only one or two useful bits in there, the rest can go straight in the bin! And do not sign up for the Bounty Club, it is unbelievably useless, all you get is mountains of spam-like emails clogging up your inbox and more useless leaflets for the bin Grin

Boy What was the outcome from your trip to the doctors'? Did they give you something to help with the sickness?

williamina Grin at your bowels in the scan! But that's what mine feel, too.

I'm so hungry today! Had to get a snack bar from the cafeteria earlier, and am already contemplating getting another. Tried eating lots of fruit - that's just not cutting it, I need stodge carbs! I think I really need to start having snacks in my bag with me 24/7 again, just to have something at hand when the hunger attacks.
