Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just arrived home from work to a letter from the endocrinologist saying my thyroid levels are much better. Phew. She addressed the letter to a consultant in obs gynae so does that mean I'll see a consultant for maternity appts I wonder?!

getoffthecoffeetable · 08/04/2013 16:21

fairy that's excellent news.
I'd say you'll probably have some consultant care tbh. It's not a bad thing though I found.

williaminajetfighter · 08/04/2013 16:27

Hi all,

The weight loss/gain thing is a tricky one. I think if people are naturally thin then the weight probably falls off. But if you are, like me, a 'struggler' then you'll probably struggle to take it off. it's not like suddenly, after an entire lifetime of losing weight slowly, it will just drop off. It took me two years to lose the weight completely and that was BFing the whole time.

I had another scan this morning with a trainee scanner who went over my stomach like a monster truck. Size is 2.55cm so almost exactly an inch. Saw little 'limb buds' etc. Bonkers.

Must now track down a caesar salad!! Whoever mentioned it has now planted craving in my mind!!

Fairydogmother · 08/04/2013 16:33

getoff I'm so relieved that my bloods are stabilising - been a worry. The endo consultant said she'll see me every 6 weeks probably for the next 18 months so that was reassuring too. She was so lovely and mega chatty!

Fab news williamina!

harverina · 08/04/2013 17:58

Fab news about the scan williamina.

Sorry I made you crave Caesar salad Shock

harverina · 08/04/2013 18:12

Urrrgh why does nausea just sneak up on you when you think your over the worst. Felt great all day then...bang, feel sick, weak and like I could just crawl into bed Shock

TiredFeet · 08/04/2013 19:48

fairy that's good news that you will get regular reviews

williamina great news about the scan! How amazing to get to see each stage of development. Don't think my first scan will be till early May!

I found the weight did drop off rapidly with breastfeeding, but then I piled it all on when ds was sleeping really badly and really quite ill with eczema in months 3-5. The only thing that kept me going was mountains of cake and biscuits!

harverina · 08/04/2013 19:59

Tired are you home? Is your dh going away?

TiredFeet · 08/04/2013 20:12

yes I am home Grin and had some lovely cuddles with DS. He is a bit upset with me for not being around but he was happy enough after bedtime stories

And DH has seen sense and cancelled the trip. I am so relieved. Its not that I need him to look after me, in fact I just want to be left alone when I am like this. But if I did all the running around and getting up in the night for DS (who has horrible cold) then I was worried there was a risk I would get very sick again very fast and then what was meant to happen to Ds. DH is a bit sulky but I did warn him before he booked the trip that I may well get ill like last time!

littlemonkey2013 · 08/04/2013 20:20

so today i think i got a hang of this MS. so i feel sick when i get hungry and about an hour after eating. i feel hungry about every 3 hours. so if i eat small portions throughout the day and have a nap about an hour after eating then i dont feel so sick! only problem is i would need to become a complete recluse to make this method work hmmmm.

anyone else just want food that cooked/prepared by someone else?

good news is no brown stuff today waheey!!

OneLittle and JBrd i hope my DH is as quick as learning as yours when it comes to changing nappies. though i will be doing most of it because he will be working. but he does mainly work back shifts so leaves at 3 and comes home midnight so that means he could do at least 1 night feed before he goes to bed :)

Fairydogmother · 08/04/2013 20:41

tired great news that your DH is staying home. That will def make things much easier for you.

I'm quite pleased with myself - I started my own thread asking for opinions on riding horses when pregnant - my first ever! And I didn't get flamed!

harverina · 08/04/2013 20:49

Littlemonkey that made me laugh as my ms pattern is very similar to yours. I feel sooo sick if there is a big gap between meals (which I now realise is why I get ms during the night if a waken) buy after eating I also feel sick. A nap after every meal would be delightful!!!

Tired so glad your dh cancelled his trip - this will take the pressure of you enormously - I hope your feeling better though Grin

Minesahotchocolate · 08/04/2013 21:10

Animol - Yup, I'm aware of the no gas&air thing thanks. We moved to Germany just before DD1 was born - so I had the first bit of care in the UK, and then got to experience the German care for the last few months. It was really stressful moving at that time though, so I'm looking forward to properly enjoying this pregnancy, nesting, being able to better take care of myself etc. And actually having some furniture, other than a single table, to sit at, whilst BF. Will make such a difference!

Well, I'm off for my 2nd ob/gyn appt tomorrow - will be 10weeks. Be interested to find out how much weight I've put on. I seem to have felt more constantly queasy this last week than I had in previous weeks. Will be glad when this bit is over.

Tired That's great news that you're out of hosp, and that your DH is staying home. What a relief!

Think I'll head for my bed. Feel knackered! Just hope the queasiness doesn't keep me awake. Re: weight loss post preg - I didn't purposefully diet, or do any much exercise, and BF for a year. I think it took me until my DD was 18months before I really felt like my figure was close to what it had been pre-preg (excluding the permanent changes such as my ribcage having gone from 32inches to a more generous 36! At least it makes me less pearshaped so dress shopping is easier :) )

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 08/04/2013 22:08

fairy great news from your endrocrinologist

williamina Grin I love a good result at a scan.

Got my nuchael translucency scan this Sat, very nervous.

MummaPanda · 08/04/2013 23:17

Well I've had a pretty horrible day, dd has had a fever that's been steadily going up all day, inconsolably crying and sleeping on me a lot. Called out of hrs gp when dh got home from work and her temp was up to 38.6, and then spent the eve at the out of hrs at the local hospital, only to be told she was fine (apart from temp) and just keep an eye on her. Preparing for a probably sleepless night with lots of crying, (at this rate that may be me more than her lol)
On the bright side my scan is a week tomorrow so yay for that.

harverina · 08/04/2013 23:21

Oh mumma that's a shame hope your dd is better in the morning and you both manage to get some sleep. Are you keeping her in with you tonight?

Be sure to try and get some rest tomorrow if you can

MsFanackerPants · 09/04/2013 00:13

I am amazed by all of you who are already mums and are managing to cope with child-wrangling with being pregnant again. I am so tired I can barely stay awake to eat my dinner! Although I had pasta tonight and it was DEEEEEEEELICIOUS. Can we add that to the menu at Starchy White Stuff Restaurant

We also need to ensure the restaurant has cosy nap areas.

Interview tomorrow, one of the interviewers knows I'm pregnant. She's just come back from mat leave so hoping she doesn't secretly hold it against me. Also hoping I don't heave during the interview.

theboob · 09/04/2013 06:19

Hello all !
congrats to all with good bews and scans etc and those that are out of hospital !

yesturday was my first shift since being pregnant , and it killed me .I am now getting ready for a 7.30-9.00 shift and i'm dreading it although I was ok with wounds and body fluid !

scan on thursday so will report back then

BoyMeetsWorld · 09/04/2013 07:12

Congrats to all those with scans. & hugs for MummaPanda /MsFanacker who are still having a rough time.

Please please some reassurance (or not!) ...I took everyone's advice and booked a dr appt for the severe sickness but the earliest they can see me is tomorrow (weds) & I'm guessing I can't just turn up at the EPU.

Meanwhile, woke up today with every single symptom gone. Boobs stopped hurting & felt deflated, sniffly nose gone, no nausea for once, tummy totally flat (prob largely as ive been starving myself due to the ms) only thing left is gas & constipation Hmm

I couldn't bear to go through a mc again....Aaaaargh Confused

BoyMeetsWorld · 09/04/2013 07:15

Oooh Fairy - what horses have you got? (side note!) I used to work in riding...many years ago :) when I got pg at the yard I had to stop straight away for H&S but they all said if they were my own horses technically there was nothing to stop me riding until 3rd trimester when best to take it easy. So long as all chances of a fall were minimised & ideally I wore a back protector if it would fit?

Fairydogmother · 09/04/2013 08:47

boy i have a 16.3hh Irish draught cross chestnut mare with 3 white socks and a big white face. And she's beautiful lol. She's 10 now and I've had her for 6 years. She's a silly big lump and allergic to practically everything but I love her to bits

Fairydogmother · 09/04/2013 08:47

Off to the hospital for booking in shortly! Hopefully see the jellybean and praying its grown ok

getoffthecoffeetable · 09/04/2013 08:53

Good luck at the hospital fairy
Still no scan date for me. Every day I look eagerly at the post, it's a bit pathetic of me really but I so want to see that the bean is doing alright and finally be able to tell people

MotherOfCleo · 09/04/2013 08:56

fairy she sounds gorgeous! Smile Good luck today! Ive got to wait till April 29th for my next scan.....seems like forever. So glad we had the early one last week. Grin

My brother has finally got over the shock and is now over the moon, we actually shocked him into silence! Smile

MotherOfCleo · 09/04/2013 08:58

coffee the hosp sent my letter to my old/wrong address....my parents...might be worth calling and asking what address they have! I have to change it to the correct address at my 12 week scan. Hmm
