The seabands worked for me. Although am not as nauseous this pregnancy as I was with the last.
Lovely news alwaystheauntie

Dreams - I'm sorry to hear that, and hope it works out for you next time.

Honey - it sounds like you handled it very well and kept nice and calm - well done you.

So, these childcare vouchers - I'm confused! Is it basically tax free vouchers you can spend on childcare? But you can only get a certain amount? i know our company offers them, but I've never delved into all the blurb around them!

Lozcat86 · 05/04/2013 16:24

so far its not made any difference.. :o(
not actually being sick its just the feeling of it all day long..

OneLittleToddleTerror · 05/04/2013 16:31

berrybomb here's some info for you regarding childcare vouchers. Basically yes, it's a tax free thing. You sacrifice £243 in pay for that equivalent amount in vouchers. After tax and NI, that £243 is worth less in real cash. But you get a real £243 to use to pay nursery/childminder. It's really that simple.

So sorry dreams

Just had my booking appointment with same midwife as last time, was lovely as she was on holiday when dd was born so didn't get to meet her. She also said that if I'm not 12weeks at my scan, which I don't think I will be, then I should get another! Yaaay! Grin

berrybomb · 05/04/2013 17:23

thanks onelittle, think I get it :-)

Minesahotchocolate · 05/04/2013 18:32

Wow this thread moves fast. So sorry to hear your news Purple and Dreams. Good luck for the future. I hope you're doing ok Ariel?
Re: sex of baby, with my 1st preg I was sure it was a boy - it was a girl. Took a moment to get my head around when she arrived! This time I'd quite like another girl. Had really vivid dream last night tho that I'd just given birth and was holding a boy. Can't get it out of my head as it was so clear. Time will tell! They do lots of scans in Germany so it makes it hard not to find out until the birth, and the medical staff find it quite exciting not knowing for once!

Had had v v little symptoms but last 24 hours have felt queasy - which I find bizarrely reassuring. Someone mentioned they're eating Haribo - me too!! Normally find them way too sickly sweet but have eaten shed loads of them recently :)

Oh, is anyone else taller than average? I'm 5'11, ideally take 34length trousers. Found it v hard getting mat clothes last time - am hoping being preg largely in summer will be easier (am hoping for mild autumn!). Found some great mat trousers last time from Long Tall Sally. Any other tips of places to try??

Hope everyone keeps well - roll on the 12 week scans! Think I'm 9+3

ClaraColomba · 05/04/2013 18:52

Hello all, been lurking for a little while. Very nervous because I have a scan tomorrow (8 weeks + 4) but last time I had a scan in the autumn the news wasn't good, and I can't bear the thought of hearing those words 'I'm very sorry but we can't find a heartbeat' again. I don't expect to sleep well tonight!

Saundy · 05/04/2013 18:55

I keep dreaming its a girl but I think it's just because I want one!

Before I got pregnant I was a Haribo addict but they are now one of the things that are sure to make me physically sick. Gutted. 3 for 3 occasions though so it's time to face the facts & back away from the jellies.

Saundy · 05/04/2013 18:57

Hey Clara welcome & congrats.

Sorry you've had bad experiences but this is a new pregnancy so everything crossed for tmr. How have you been symptom-wise? Thus baby is kicking my ass so far!!

clara good luck for tomorrow

TiredFeet · 05/04/2013 19:35

dreams I am really sorry to hear your news, wishing you all the best for the future!

Well I rang the doctors and the receptionist confirmed that the gp I saw hadn't done the right things to get me booked in with the midwife Angry

Took ds for a walk to the shops today and suddenly had to decorate some bushes Blush just as a man walked past with his dog! He was a bit alarmed until I explained why! Ds just sat on his trike staring, his eyes wide with shock!

honey86 · 05/04/2013 19:35

believe me it was awkward. i had to wait a while to have my bloods taken and you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. ive told him ill have talks with him once the kids are back at school, a few days before the scan but til then i just wanna be alone to throw my guts up rest and recover.
he seriously needs counselling hes so obvs got depression but typical bloke too stubborn to get help for it. i wont even bother if he dont cos as harsh as i sound im not willing to live with it.

feel so ill today i could cry, cant wait til bedtime xx

clara keeping my fingers crossed for you that all is well tomorrow

Dizzy81 · 05/04/2013 19:42

Dreams I'm soo sorry. Clara, good luck for tomorrow.

Well serves me right for bragging this morning about lack of symptoms, had a massive wave of nausea at work which resulted in dry heaving! Lovely. The boobies have been tingly and the appetite has been massive!

MissTweed · 05/04/2013 20:28

Evening ladies Smile, can anyone help as I'm having a bit of a panic.....
I'm having the combined scan/blood test for downs and was sure I was told to have my blood taken at 10w + 1or 2 (so in time for scan but thats the earliest you can have them done) but I've just read my notes and the midwife has written 11w + 1/2. Have I had them too early to count?? I can't find anywhere where it says the earliest you can have the bloods taken?? Can anyone help? Hmm

louby86 · 05/04/2013 21:00

Good luck for tomorrow Clara.

Miss Tweed - sorry, I've no idea but didn't want to not acknowledge your post and look like I was ignoring you!

Been busy cooking all evening for the feb 2012 bus party tomorrow! I'm so excited!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 05/04/2013 21:01

Sad so sorry dreams I had all the tests done for recurrent mc too. They all came back fine, which means they couldn't do anything to help. But the consultant really put my mind at ease by saying it means you have the best chance of a healthy future pregnancy. (I think that's medical speak for you've just been horribly unlucky and it will be fine in the end).

Really hope you have a healthy pregnancy in the near future Thanks

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 05/04/2013 21:04

honey well done for staying calm around your ex. You have def beaten me re the Doppler, it arrived today, I'm 10 wk 4 and couldn't find a heart beat. It's worrying me but all the symptoms are still there, so I'm really hoping the foetus is ok.

misstweed I don't know. I think I had my bloods taken at 12 weeks for the combined scan (pregnancy with dd). Not sure though.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 05/04/2013 21:11

misstweed I have no idea either. Can you ring your midwife and ask. I was told to have bloods taken beofre 11weeks for a bunch of things like HIV. And then have my bloods taken on the same day as my 12 weeks scan for the combined nuchal/blood screening for downs.

louby86 · 05/04/2013 21:19

That's how my bloods were too OneLittle. I remember waiting with a ticket after my 12 weeks scan to have the bloods for the nuchal test done.

TiredFeet · 05/04/2013 22:24

misstweed I don't know, but I am sure your midwife won't mind if you ring and double check

Animol · 06/04/2013 08:10

dreams so sorry - so sad.

minesahotchocolate I'm in Germany too - had two scans already - expecting one about once a month at each gynea appointment - I'm really torn about knowng the sex this time - we managed to not know before but I'm not sure if I can hold out this time!

Diege · 06/04/2013 09:31

misstweed to put your mind at rest, if you are combining early bloods with a nuchal scan they can indeed be taken from 10 weeks. It's preferable in a way to take them before the scan as you will get an immediate risk figure then after the scan. I have a nuchal booked for 12 weeks (I will be nearer 13 weeks) and had bloods taken at 10 weeks. Hope this helpsSmile
