Do you work for Mothercare falcoln Hmm

TheFalconsmistress · 05/04/2013 16:56

Lol no im a SAHM Grin I was just amazed at what i got i have been looing since i was like 10 weeks :)

JellyCurls · 05/04/2013 17:06

20 week scan date through for 15th may but doesn't look like its with a consultant. DH says to wait and see when we get there but I think I should phone up to check. What should I do, call and come across as a neurotic woman or chill and wait and see?

cuillereasoupe · 05/04/2013 17:06

I accidentally noshed a plate of goat's cheese yesterday and then thought "oops". Not much point in worrying about it after the event I suppose Blush. I didn't mention it to DP - he's even freaking out about me going in the car "because the vibrations can't be doing you any good". Bless him. Shank's pony for the next six months it is then.

Rockchick1984 · 05/04/2013 17:12

If it was hard goat's cheese (or pasteurised soft goat's cheese) you are fine Cuill

cuillereasoupe · 05/04/2013 17:15

Oh I'm not too worried rockchick. Advice here is not to eat the rind in any case, but I figure the chances of one tiny slip-up doing any harm are fairly slim.

BowlFullofJelly · 05/04/2013 17:16

Jelly you are pregnant and therefore allowed to be neurotic about everything! But seriously, it's not uncommon for mistakes to be made, so if in doubt phone and check.

So after falcons raving about Mothercare sales I'm looking online. We got given a travel system last time so really didn't look at pushchairs etc, so am absolutely gobsmacked at the prices. £1600 for a buggy? Seriously? I know that is top of the range, but I see women walking around with these things! £1600!!!! That's a small car (or a week in the Caribbean).

Livened · 05/04/2013 18:22

Brilliant afternoon - saw baba and all is perfect (good nuchal of 1.3, perfect size for dates, everything beating, wriggling and working as it should).

Our hospital are so good - everyone was lovely and the midwives entertained Charlie my DS with my husbands help.

Although we've already blabbed our news, I'm just so relieved that everything is growing ok. I'm very lucky to have my DS already, and I keep thinking its all too good to be true...

Thanks for all the good luck vibes girls ;-)

Natalieand · 05/04/2013 18:51

Excellent news live

I'm almost 100% sure we are going to get the baby style oyster which is gunna cost around £300 for chassis and seat unit then another£100 for car seat but just seen on my fb news feed that kiddicare are opening a store about 40 mins drive from me on April 23rd so I will deffo have to go there for a browse

Just purchased first baby item! 6 tommee tippee bottles in tesco for £12.99 only popped in for hot dog rolls and ended up spend £50 as got dd some more new clothes oooops lol (sorry if u disagree with bottle feeding, but for me I dont feel comfortable breast feeding)

roxvox · 05/04/2013 18:54

Glad it all went well livened!

I've got my 20 week scan date through too, for the 14th May. It seems sooooo far away!

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/04/2013 19:13

Congrats on the scan live.

I had my booking appointment today and am really disappointed that I have to have consultant led care because I have very mild, well controlled asthma. Really hoping this doesn't mean I have to give birth in the labour ward instead of the midwife led unit. Got an appointment with the consultant in may instead of a midwife for my 16 week check. I will try to convince her it is unnecessary then.

On the plus side I have grown three centimetres in height on what I have been all my adult life. Probably inaccurate measuring but maybe chiropractic treatment after my car accident has lengthened me!

I then spent the day shopping for maternity wear on Oxford street. Shudders. Really poor selection, especially if not a size 14-18. And not all branches stock it so spent hours wandering between branches of h&m, new look etc. If anyone is thinking of visiting Oxford street let me know and I will type out where has mat wear. Anyone considering primark, avoid! They only have one rack of jeans, not in many sizes and nothing else. (Not all staff know it is there even, it is with the normal jeans). The queue for the changing room and the till were both ridiculously long and hot, I thought I might faint. I had to sit down. And I got asked if I was shoplifting! Angry

Also got measured for a couple of new bras at bravissimo today as I wasn't convinced John Lewis did a good job with the 32dd sack they gave me, bravissimo have me at a 28f or 28ff! Shock now feels very tight but presuming it is right this time and certainly looks better.

Sorry for the mega post!

Natalieand · 05/04/2013 20:05

orange I could not agree more!! Try being a size 22-24 its nigh on impossible getting maternity clothes except for simply be which doesn't really have a big choice I got a pair of jeans in a size 26 and they literally hang off legs bum etc so they are deffo not an option luckily my mum has a simply be account so I can order stuff try it on an if no good send it back without paying first, ordered two pairs of trousers the other day and wasn't happy with them so sent them back. What a palava eh!!

JellyCurls · 05/04/2013 20:16

orange and natalie I am with you on the maternity clothes rant. At very nearly 6ft its impossible to get stuff that's long enough. Long tall Sally sell one style of jeans and one style of trousers but cost about £60 each Angry hoping normal clothes will fit me for a bit longer

CocktailSausage · 05/04/2013 20:17

Hello Ladies,

I've added myself to the stats thread and I'm getting on the October bus.

I'm normally a bit of a lurker but I would like some support. Though I have a ds (3) this pregnancy has been plagued with anxiety as there has been a run of unfortunate events with others pregnancies at work. Sad

I've been following your threads.
I was afraid to join until I had my scan (on 3/4/13 NT 2.2mm) and can report a very wriggly baby.

So good luck to those awaiting theirs and here is to the 2nd trimester Wine

HotSoupDumpling · 05/04/2013 20:32

Welcome cocktail and great news livened!

Natalieand · 05/04/2013 20:32

Welcome cocktail here's to a very un eventful pregnancy for u! Xxx

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/04/2013 20:51

Welcome cocktail! I am glad you got some reassurance at your scan.

I think it could be a very profitable business to set up a maternity wear company that did nice, fashionable-ish clothes including things for work, sports, special events etc as well as the usual casual t shirts, jeans and leggings, stocking everything in the full variety of heights and sizes. Perhaps a venture for me one day if I decide not to go back to work!

Most of my normal clothes don't fit any more except jersey wrap dresses and a baggy old pair of jeans from when I was two sizes bigger that I usually use for gardening or decorating. Tops are now riding up and flashing my belly, strap tops are cutting off blood supply under my arms and i cant do buttons up on trousers. I think because I am short and petite there is nowhere for it to go and i am bulging even though only 12 weeks tomorrow.

roxvox · 05/04/2013 21:05

I've got the same problem jellycurls, I am 6ft and although I haven't started looking at maternity clothes yet, it did occur to me earlier that it might be a complete pain in the arse as I struggle to find normal jeans that are long enough. I think Next do long versions of their maternity wear though so I might take a look there, althought their normal 'long' has always been too short for me still and only their 'tall' range is long enough (which they don't have any maternity wear in I don't think). Might be my best option though as I don't want to spend the earth.

I guess I am kind of hoping that I'll start getting hot soon and then I can just wear maternity shorts Smile

CocktailSausage · 05/04/2013 21:13

I too ventured to Oxford st yesterday and felt let down by what was on offer. I didn't manage to buy anything. I've been in maternity clothes for the past week now, the bloat has taken over I already have a few bits from mamas and papas as they were 3 for 2, a pair of skinnys from Topshop (that go baggy and I have to constantly pull up) I also have some old bump bands from the last pregnancy. I don't think I'll fit into my old maternity wear as I never lost the baby weight with ds. Oh well, another reason to shop eh!

I won't be buying much for this dc as s/he can wear ds old clothes and I have everything else.

MrsZzz · 05/04/2013 21:24

I'm with you on the maternity wear shopping- was a real effort to find nice stuff for work and casual in the right size- and I went to Westfield and Oxford Street. Ended up spending a fortune (that I really didn't have).

Learnt something great in Primark though- after queuing for ages to try on the maternity jeans, the lady told me I should have just walked up to the front and told her I was pregnant. So, I then took one look at the hideous queue for the tills, pulled aside a nearby assistant, said "I'm pregnant and really struggled in the changing room queue, is there any way of not having to stand in this one?" He took me through the barriers and I got served right away (I really was struggling - shopping alone is really tough). Anyway- you ladies should try it, worst that can happen is they say no.

racheld33 · 05/04/2013 21:27

Welcome cocktail Smile and brilliant news on the scan livened Grin

orange i was told at my last pregnancy I was 'medium' risk because of my asthma, which meant I couldn't go to my local midwife only birthing centre. But in the end I went to a bigger hospital, and gave birth in their 'midwife only' birth suite (but the ward next door was doctor led labour ward so I could have been wheeled through if any problems!) and it was lovely with no intervention, only g&a, and not a doctor or monitor in site!

moonblues · 05/04/2013 21:32

Hi ladies. Have been reading all your news, but have found it hard to find time to post as I've been collapsing into bed as soon as I put the kids to bed. I'm managing to sleep from 8ish through to 7 and I'm still tired when I wake up!

Sorry you're having such a tough time MoN. It's such a difficult decision about what tests to have. Sometimes I think it's harder when you have to take into account what your DP thinks and not just consider your own feelings.

I have my scan on Monday. I'm feeling nervous about it. We've told our immediately family as we seeing them over Easter, so it's all starting to feel a bit more real.

Haven't bought any maternity clothes yet, I stupidly threw my old ones out in October, but my trousers are definitely getting a bit tight. Last time long tops were in fashion, so managed to get away with wearing 'normal' clothes for longer.

moonblues · 05/04/2013 21:36

Forgot to say welcome Cocktail and congratulations on the scan Livened and good luck to all my scan buddies on Monday. I think I've forgotten someone who has a scan tomorrow, I'm on my phone and can't check, but good luck!

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/04/2013 21:52

Rachel, the midwife led unit i was planning to go to is attached to the hospital too (Kingston) so you have given me some hope that it will still be ok. Thank you.

Wickedgirl · 05/04/2013 21:55

I had my scan today.

Harmony tests all clear. Nt is 2.9 so baby may have a heart condition. :(

I have to wait until my 20 week scan to find out for sure. Fingers crossed that is just on the high side for nothing
