here we all are... hoping for nice clear 20w. scans, not too much inadvertent weeing and getting that 'glow'...

Have you considered going Asian Fl0? I'm sure u could get something tailor made fairly cheaply if you go to the right area...am thinking Southall.

Girraferama · 21/04/2013 19:14

Hiya

There's a site called livelovematernity which brings together the ranges from all sorts of shops. Also, try Picchu and yummy mummy?

Dorita75 · 21/04/2013 19:16

kimjayne I signed up to the bounty club online and downloaded and printed the voucher that way....

Hi everyone, it's been lovely to catch up on all the news.

We collected our tandum buggy this weekend, which I'm just so thrilled with. Got the Obaby Zoom tandum, you can have your lo's facing you, facing forward, facing each other or away from each other. Plus the carrycot is lovely, quite substantial compared to the one on our current travel system, so we may use it instead of bothering with a moses basket downstairs this time.

Also have first hospital appointment tomorrow called 'birth after csection clinic'. Presumably to talk through my previous delivery and options this time around?

Followed by 20 week scan on Wednesday! DH still won't tell me what he's decided about whether we are finding out the gender or not (I said he could have the final say), it's driving me crazy!

Has anyone already attended a hospital BAC clinic and can tell me what to expect?

juniper9 · 21/04/2013 23:24

frogchops I'm 5'1 and have worn loads of maxi dresses. They were meant to be knee length, though... Wink Advantage of being 3 dimensionally challenged is that trainers are far cheaper as I can but from the children's range. Disadvantage is that people assume I'm about 12. And pregnant...

CharlW1 · 22/04/2013 08:21

Oh dear my hormones are raging today! I feel so angry - just catching up on work emails on the train and I have been given yet more work to do before I go off on maternity. As soon as I said I was pregnant my already heavy workload increased to almost uncopable levels. The thing is that it really shouldn't becoming my way but the person it should go to, just doesn't do it so instead of dealing with him they just push it my way and say at least they know it will be done if they assign it to me!

I'm going to have to say something when I have calmed down as I can't go on like this - my blood pressure will end up being through the roof!!

Sorry rant over Angry

LexyMa · 22/04/2013 08:42

Yikes Charl - definitely best to deal with that before they get a nasty shock when you go on leave!

I am starting my new job today - and my new commute! Have my maternity tights on for support, lots of lunch snacks to keep me going (on the tube!) and I had a pretty good night's sleep to prepare. Although I am now up like clockwork some time between 3 and 4.30 for a wee, and then Mildred has a bit of a party to use the extra space. I need to train myself to treat that as a 'go back to sleep' massage.

Good luck for all the scans this week!

Good luck to everyone with scans today. Mines at 11. Seems ages away still...

kimjayne · 22/04/2013 08:46

Charl - I know what you mean about hormones raging at the Mo. I'm so.so angry at one of my mates. He's a lad (so.maybe I shouldn't expect much from.him) but I've known him over 10years. So I thought he would be more happy for myself and dh. He's one of DHs closest friends too. But recently he's started making clever remarks about our pregnancy. Just sarcastic stuff like "gosh... you would almost think Kim was pregnant or something". Im fuming Coz Im meant to be making his wedding cake the month before baby is due. But all I get from him is sly comments.
I don't normally get annoyed with friends. But this has really wound me up this weekend.
Apologies to you ladies for my moaning. Just wanted to get it off my chest.
Phew

JammyTummy · 22/04/2013 09:57

Went for our scan this morning and all seemed fine other than the fact they first 'couldn't get a clear picture' of one of the feet. They then at the end told me that they're not sure but they think one of the feet may be developing at a slightly inward turning angle. She said that if that is indeed what it is, it's treatable when baby is born with a little cast.
Needless to say I feel like I've got an elephant sat on my heart now. Waiting to hear when we can go and get a closer look scan.

Manoodledo · 22/04/2013 10:26

Jammy try not to worry too much. Difficult to do I know. We got told the baby has a big tummy, which they thought was 'probably' nothing to worry about!. So many things they see, or don't see, on scans turn out to be nothing. With DS1 they thought there must be a hole in his heart because it was beating far too fast, but subsequent scans showed that it was fine. Hopefully this will also be the case with your baby's foot.

Eeeknumber3 · 22/04/2013 10:27

oh big hugs jammy, they may be wrong if they are recalling you for the repeat scan. If it is club foot, it is very effectively treated these days, my friends tot had this and I was amazed at just how fast it was resolved. Having said all that, it's a horrible feeling for you and I know I would be heartbroken, mainly at the thought of the baby being uncomfortable. I do understand your anguish, our DD was born with digestive probs, which meant she had to have a general and op at Alderhey at 3 weeks old, it is indeed heartbreaking, but she's a ball of noise and perfectly healthy 5 year old now!!xx

Readytosettle · 22/04/2013 12:48

On the maternity tights issue...avoid mothercare. Bought 2 pairs of neutrals for £8 at the weekend. First wear this morning & the crotch split first time I say down! Not happy.

weebarra · 22/04/2013 13:20

Funny ready, I was going to recommend mothercare as they're the only ones I've found that don't fall down!
Jammy please don't worry too much (easy to say, I know!). The whole point of the scan is to pick up and prepare for things which may be an issue. Hope you're feeling ok.
ION, just got some clothes I ordered from a company I found online called Bumpalicious who were very good. I just got some summer bits in the sale, but think they would be good for you ladies who have lots of weddings this summer.

SGJ · 22/04/2013 13:57

Hey Jammy, hope you're not stressing too much right now, but if you need some more calming anecdotes, talipes is very easily treated and they start treatment so young that it shouldn't affect their gross motor development, ie they'll crawl and walk with no problem.
My close friend's little boy had severe talipes - he has had casts and then boots and braces and you really wouldn't be able to tell he'd had talipes at all now - he's 7 months old now and the happiest little boy! So really don't stress, it will all sort itself out over time and the specialist doctors for this sort of thing are amazing.

SGJ · 22/04/2013 13:58

Oh and congrats on an otherwise lovely scan; hello baby!

SGJ · 22/04/2013 14:01

Oh and finally, my friends weren't offered another scan, so if you have been then it may be, as Eek said, that they're not sure if anythings wrong anyway! Hope you get info on another scan date soon.

frogchops · 22/04/2013 14:04

Have been at hospital all damn morning having my booking bloods AGAIN!! 3rd or 4th time now and still my mw gets it wrong. Nearly 19 weeks and having booking bloods!! Pfft.

Creamtea1 · 22/04/2013 14:10

Afternoon ladies,
First of all to jammy - try not to worry - a friend had the same thing with her daughter who is now 6. When she was a baby you could not tell at all and once she started walking properly - I think she was about 2 - she had a small corrective op and had to wear some customised shoes (which you wouldn't tell the difference from standard clarks little ones) and she was absolutely fine and still is.

I had my scan this morning too, was a really nice male sonographer who explained everything and showed us all the different parts/organs etc. all was fine and baby bang on middle average line size wise. Didn't find out sex but asked him to give us a relevant 'shot' in one of the pics so I can research for fun! Grin

JammyTummy · 22/04/2013 16:18

Thanks all for your advice. We went for our re-scan this afternoon and they confirmed that it is a talipes foot, so rotated inwards. The lady who did the scan this time was much more knowledgeable and certainly did a better job at putting our minds at ease (in as much as possible) which was nice. She said that a physio will look at it as soon as baby is born and it will either be a case of securing it into the correct position for a while or if it is bad it may require surgery, but should all be done before it can affect crawling/ walking.
I know it's not the worst problem to be having and could be something so much worse (first sonographer added that there might be something wrong with the kidneys too, which the OB dismissed completely and said she obviously mismeasured) but it is still just a little bit disheartening. On the upside, absolutely everything else is spot on and it looks like a happy chubby little baby girl!
Hope everyone else's scans today are all good!

badguider · 22/04/2013 16:37

Glad to hear that Jammy, it's so great how things like that can be corrected so relatively easy without affecting your little one's life much at all.

I'm being scanned first thing Wednesday morning and now really quite glad the 20wk scan is routine here as it seems to be able to pick up so much and be so thorough.

I'm a bit worried about growth as I still don't have much bump (it's really just a roundening of my whole torso including slight expansion of my ribcage rather than anything like the other pregnant people I know at this stage) so I will be VERY glad for any reassurance they can give on growth.

PurplePoppySeed · 22/04/2013 16:56

ok time for a silly question as I know a few of you have now felt kicks/movements etc - is this it?

I was sitting still at my desk this afternoon and there's a sort of popping feeling - the same as when you've got trapped wind, only its right inside my pelvis, popping out towards the pubic bone? To be honest, it was where I think my bladder should be..

am I just searching for feelings as I've not felt anything yet?

Belvedere · 22/04/2013 18:34

Purple - that is defiantly movement. I've been feeling movement since 17 weeks and I'm nearly 22 now (where is time going?!) I can feel him kick as low as my pubic line and right up to my belly button, it makes me jump at work but its lovely.

Re tights. I've tried H and M which I didn't love, they sort of hung too low and dug in. Really weird. M and S so lovely tights, quite expensive but really nice. I live in black tights so if anyone knows of any good ones, if love to know.

TripleRock · 22/04/2013 18:54

I've come to the conclusion maternity tights are generally crap and overpriced so resigned myself to black leggings and flats for the forseeable!

andadietcoke · 22/04/2013 18:59

Okay weird (neurotic) question...

For those of you that have found out the sex at the scan - do they tell you at the end, or as and when they find out during the scan? I've developed some weird phobia that I'll be jinxing everything by asking the sex so I wondered if I could ask to be told at the end if everything is okay?
