Oh Michellephant sorry to hear about your experience.

I'm currently doing a masters in public health at a university in my home country. I'm hoping to apply for a phD at this university which is why I am torturing myself with incessant deadlines and commuting at least once a month. I will be taking a break come May until magic bean arrives.

I also have and run a corporate communications firm--it just means I write press releases and hope someone pays me.

Lastly I have a 4 year old with some slight special needs and I spend quite a lot of my day reviewing his progress and creating his lesson plans.

NomDeClavier · 24/04/2013 15:03

Michelle that sounds like it was awful for you with your darling Poppy. Keeping fingers crossed everything goes smoothly this time for you. Someone on my previous AN thread lost a baby around 21 weeks but I'm pretty sure she's since had her Rainbow baby.

Queen I'm SE in a similar field. I probably won't take ML from one client as they give me a good steady income. The rest can take their chances!

My employed stuff I may teach Sept-Dec, and then in May, but it's actually a rolling temp contract (because I was supposed to be doing a placement year next May, but I'll probably need to defer that now). Thankfully they don't know I plan to run away Wink either on placement or on ML so as long as I get the 3 months next autumn it should be okay. I came to the depressing realisation earlier that if I go off on ML before Christmas I'll be back this time next year after ML :(

Oh I don't know what to dooooooooo. This baby is a bit of a spanner in the works (in a good way), as was DS. I have a theory my ovaries like to pinpoint the most inconvenient timing.

Michellephant · 24/04/2013 15:03

I can't wait to stop studying, definitely not going to be doing any more for a long time. I've spent 5 years now (with a year between my undergrad and postgrad studies out working) at the same university and I'm looking forward to only visiting for days out in the future! I did meet my OH there though so it has some special memories for us :) he's a primary school teacher so whilst I'm off I go in to help the children (5-6yr olds) and do some volunteer work with a boy in care (15yr old), which is the area of work I am normally in when I'm not studying.

I don't get to graduate with my friends because everything has been put back quite a few months because of losing Poppy in October but hopefully I'll be too busy thinking about the pending arrival to even care! Baby is due 10 days after graduation!

Michellephant · 24/04/2013 15:05

Hopefully we wont have any late losses on this thread. It isn't nice at all :(

2Labradors · 24/04/2013 16:24

I started bleeding this morning, am so gutted & just praying that everything is ok. Went to my GP who has arranged a scan for tomorrow morning at EPU so just trying to rest until then. My DH has been great & been with me all day.

Really really hoping that the worst hasn't happened

FluffyDucky · 24/04/2013 16:35

2labs I hope it goes well tomorrow xx

I've had such an annoying day, we went shopping for maternity bras (got them) but I decided to get some maternity trousers as all mine are very snug now just through being bloated & is getting painful. I lost count of the number of shops we went to only to be told only online! You can get them in mamas & papas or mothercare, but I'm not spending £30 on a pair of jeans!
Finally found found in the 2nd new look shop & track suit style (comfy!) But still so irritated there is so little choice on the high street, esp from places like debenhams!

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 24/04/2013 17:02

Hi 2Labs - fx it's just a random bleed - they are so common in early pg so all is not lost.

I work for a big multi-national company which makes all sorts of products. They have a good ML package (6 months full pay) and flexible work so I can work from home a couple of days a week as it's an hour commute one way otherwise (I live in the sticks). Not sure how I will manage nearer to EDD as remember it was hard with DS

QueenofWhispers · 24/04/2013 17:17

NomD how coincidental! I don't think I'll be able to take much maternity leave from my company just because it is my own and I dont think anyone can cover the things I do (post on MN, read random news stories and online shopping).

2labs
I send happy thoughts and positivity your way.

yes, this is my first. i've wanted to have a family since i was a little girl, we've been ttc since august last year and ALL my friends have babies so it's a relief to say the least!

2labs, fingers and toes and everything crossed for you.

Queen, I feel the same. I've run my business for 8 years and though I do have an assistant manager, there's soooo much that's just stored in my head and tasks that only i do. but i'm determined to have at least 6 months at home with my baby. i've started writing a manual today (already!) about how to do the stuff that she doesn't normally do and it's dawning on me how much there is. but it's doable, it'll just take time. am slightly worried about my business partner's reaction, she's been pretty negative about the possibility before. but that's her tough shit frankly. it's only work, this is more important!

anyone else really constipated? i stopped taking the lactulose as the farting was just horrendous, it forced me out of the bath the other day! but this is worse so i'm back on it and am downing orange juice and eating grapes and strawberries. can't believe i'm so constipated so early on. well i can actually cos i've got colitis so my stupid bowels never work properly!

Bleeding again. Not heavy, but bright red. Hmm

NomDeClavier · 24/04/2013 19:20

Oh feather Hmm Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Harry the afternoon sickness may be to do with low blood sugar - sometimes nausea hits when you're hungry and not just the morning. It's most common in the morning because that's when people are usually hungriest.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 24/04/2013 19:59

I'm getting the morning and afternoon sickness too.

The food/drink aversions have kicked in funnily enough the same as the last 2 pregnancies. I cannot stomach tea or coffee anymore which I'm always gutted about as normally I love a fresh brew.

I've gone off bacon, ham, cheese (although I can tolerate it on a jacket spud)

I'm craving eggs (in any form) and crispy skinned, salty jacket potatoes which I have just had for dinner. Yum.

I've gone off water, juices and squashes and fizzy stuff give me heartburn so I'm a bit dehydrated today as I don't know what to drink. Last time I used melon to quench my thirst as an added bonus it doesn't hurt (like toast) or taste foul on the way back up!

I just about managed to keep my breakfast + lunch down today but probably won't tomorrow or for the next 20 weeks.

I hate this stage + I'm sorry to grumble but it just takes over dominates everything I can't wait to get to 20 weeks.

Really sorry to hear about the posters having bleeding I hope everything turns out well for you.

QueenofWhispers · 24/04/2013 20:16

For those of you who are bleeding...maybe this might help (maybe not--I never know the right things to say)

when I was pregnant with N (my DS)I didn't find out until the 14th week because I still had my period regularly. I ended up going to the gp with shoulder pain and a 'hard lump' in my lower belly. I honestly thought I had cancer (I was on the pill+having regular periods)...so I find that I'm pregnant, get kinda worried and excited. We decide to have it and at the very first antenatal appointment I just start bleedingeverywhere---I felt a 'pop' and blood was literally gushing. I did crumble into tears and have an epic 'whyyyyyyy me' moment and since I was already at the GP's they called me an ambulance who whisked me away to St Marys. At St Marys my DH met me at my room (because he is super debonair like that) and this doctor walks in to tells us that they wanted to perform a D&C. Dh decides to tell the doctor to 'shove it, until we've had a scan'...and Lo and behold our bubs was strong as ever. He even managed a wave on the scan.

I'll post it on my profile so that you can see. Anyway, I bled randomly throughout the pregnancy--I'm like a rotten tomato, I bleed everywhere...and no doctor could tell me why. Please don't be disheartened.

FluffyDucky · 24/04/2013 20:20

Holly, yup I'm as backed up as a traffic jam on the M25! Its driving me crazy & makes me feel really unwell. No one advertised this!

QueenofWhispers · 24/04/2013 20:22

I posted the picture. click click click!

I do wish the best for all of you.

QueenofWhispers · 24/04/2013 20:23

oh and I definitely have my names picked out. Who else does?

Dasie · 24/04/2013 20:35

I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed for the ladies who are going through the worry of bleeding!!

I had my MW booking in appointment today and I really enjoyed it, a whole 90 minutes of talking about being pregnant Grin. She's put me in the high risk category and I have to see the Consultant because of a problem I had at my first birth but not because of the baby so I can cope with that!

I also have nausea much worse in the afternoon and evenings but I won't complain as I haven't been sick yet Grin

2Labradors · 24/04/2013 20:37

Thanks Queen a positive outcome is exactly what I'm hoping to hear of right now, trying so hard to keep positive.

Thanks for the positive vibes too, it means a lot. Tonight is going to be a long night.

weechops · 24/04/2013 20:42

My nausea is definitely worse in the afternoon, just at school run time which is fun!
Anyone suffering with < whispers > piles? I had them bad when pg with ds and they never fully left, now they're making an early appearance and its horrible! Totally recommend lactulose every day and take it before you actually neeeeed it :)

weechops · 24/04/2013 20:43

2labs I'm sending positive thoughts to you. And feather bag too x

ccsays · 24/04/2013 20:53

Eep, thinking of you featherbag and 2labs.

Harry we started playing about with names before we conceived! George for a boy, in memory of my Grandpa and Melody for a girl because I think it's pretty and me and DP both really like Doctor Who.

Just told my Aunt I'm pregnant, could hear her tear up on the other end of the phone and she was saying how happy she was and it was the best news she'd had in ages :')
