Ooh, I see you're the same due date as me musiceverywhere. And your first too! waves . I've also booked a eight week scan privately, to (hopefully) calm my obsessive worrying a bit.

Got my first midwife appointment a week today, can anyone tell me what to expect? Also, told my boss yesterday, due to the sometimes physical nature of my job and said I wanted to keep it quiet just now to which he replied ?of course, obviously so much can go wrong at this point" Confused. He's not the most tactful man...

TakingTheStairs · 16/04/2013 12:53

what a lovely thoughtful boss you have ccsays Confused

Welcome BFPs, and congratulations!

Pistachio, I hope today is going ok and that you are able to take it easy. It must be tough having to wait for the scan tomorrow. I'm thinking of you and sending LOTS of positive vibes. Good luck and big hugs.

For those feeling sick and/or anxious, arghhhh! Hope this eases off soon - I feel like I'm swinging between feeling rotten, and then when not feeling too rotten, feeling anxious about lack of rotten-ness. It's hard to sit back and enjoy the ride, but hopefully this will get easier as our pregnancies progress. Thanks for those stats Mildred, reassuring to know.

ccsays - from my experience last time I can recommend you take snacks and prepare to be bored beyond belief at first midwife appointment. Can't remember if they listen for heartbeat (obv that wouldn't be boring) but my midwife literally took 2 hours to enter all the info onto the database, by which time I was desperate for food, sleep, escape... Not sure if that is normal or just unlucky. Sounds like your boss is seriously lacking in a sensitive streak!

yogafan · 16/04/2013 13:20

I've got a guilty secret, am wearing pregnancy leggings today... sooooo comfy... not yet 6 weeks...

StyleManual · 16/04/2013 14:05

Yogafan - I've done the old bobble round the jeans button trick. So much comfier! I've lost weight but gained a lovely bloated tummy.

PistachioTruffle · 16/04/2013 14:25

Thanks yoga, I've spent the day in bed, so I'm wearing my pjs, which are very comfy!

musiceverywhere · 16/04/2013 15:12

Grr, just wrote a long post but got logged out before I could post it as kept getting interrupted! Summary was:
waves at ccsays! EDD is obviously approximate, just going from day1 of last cycle. Hopefully in 7 and half weeks will get a more accurate one! Your boss sounds like a real motivator Hmm
pistachio glad you're taking it easy, I can imagine how long the wait must seem. Watch some 'comfort tv' (mine is sex and the city or a jane austen adaptation of some kind)
yoga I like the leggings! People have been asking me for about 4 months if I'm pregnant (is it just me that thinks thats incredibly rude??) as I carry any 'excess weight' around my tummy and the rest of me is fairly slim. So I suppose if I do get a bump it may go unnoticed for a while?!
rylea hope you're managing ok with the worrying. Mine is getting better each day, got a decent nights sleep last night.

OrbisNonSufficit · 16/04/2013 17:13

I thought this might be interesting for you all... I was doing some googling research about why I don't have morning sickness yet and it seems that vitamin b6 deficiency can cause pregnancy nausea, and I'm taking a b complex supplement not just folic acid at the moment. So that might be why I'm not spewy yet?

Vixjane · 16/04/2013 17:36

hello all! Congrats on your bfp's! would you mind if i joined you?

I've been lurking on here for a little bit as i'm a bit anxious about this pregnancy as i had two mc's August and December last year (dh is prob sick of me comparing my symptoms from one day to the next but doesn't say anything bless him!).

i had a bit of blood at 6 weeks so had a scan at 6w4d and was very relieved to see our bun with a little heartbeat. EDD is 30 November sonot quite Dec but the November board seems to be way ahead!

Sorry to all those going through worrying times at the moment, fingers crossed for you all.

VJ x

QuietNinjaTardis · 16/04/2013 18:29

Hey everyone. Congrats to all new bfp and those who've seen little heartbeats. I don't think I need a scan, I can only assume everything is going swimmingly for bubs and its just me who feels so ill. Spent the day alternating between dosing and throwing up. I've managed almost a whole satsuma and almost a whole apple. Am trying to eat a pear. Have drunk a little. Feel wretched. Lucky ds was at nursery today.

QuietNinjaTardis · 16/04/2013 18:30

I think I meant dozing. Not dosing.

inkymomma · 16/04/2013 19:13

Feeling a bit anxious today. I hate the beginning stages of pregnancy. I just don't feel pregnant at all. Im not feeling sick (sympathy to those who are feeling retched right now) I'm just feeling tired but not overly tired. Completely different to pregnancy number one. Just a bit anxious about it all :-(

Weescottie · 16/04/2013 19:22

Inky if it makes you feel any better I don't have very many symptoms either, only bloating and boobs a bit tender. But I keep telling myself I've missed my (very regular) period and did get positives on a three HPT. I keep looking at a picture I took of the positives to remind me I'm pregnant Blush
I have my doc appointment on Thursday so kind of hoping he'll do another test so that I know for sure there's something in there!

inkymomma · 16/04/2013 19:28

weescottie I also had three positive pregnancy tests. When I went to the doctors on friday they just said 'not much I can do but refer you' just expected them to do another test or something. I'll just keep everything crossed that all is fine. I hope for you too that all is fine :-)

Vixjane · 16/04/2013 19:36

ninja have you tried some fizzy water? I got some of the flavoured ones and they've been really good. The bit of sugar helps to perk you up and the flavours help with funny tastes etc x

Vocalista86 · 16/04/2013 19:56

VixJane congrats on your BFP! We have the same EDD and I totally agree about the Nov thread - that's why I'm here with the lovely Dec lot instead, I feel much more at home!

That's so great that you saw a heartbeat at your 6 week scan, I've got my first one tomorrow - and it'll be the first scan I have had not done due to an emergency (had MMC in Jan). 9am and counting down the hours.

To all those who are waiting for symptoms, I hope they show up soon, pregnancy is such a strange thing, my DH thinks it very strange when I feel naseus and grin about it and am sad when they go. But a good friend of mine who went through something similar to me has been very keen to explain that they really do come and go and that is totally normal.

I've just bought a beautiful journal to one day give to the little one, it covers pregnancy and first year and it's so lovely! Nearly made me tear up.

QuietNinjaTardis · 16/04/2013 20:10

I have tried ginger ale. Nothing I staying down. My pear came back up and everything I've drunk this evening. Thik I might have to sign off for a bit as really struggling. might have to go back to bed now.

Misspositivity · 16/04/2013 20:16

Isn't the first 12 weeks a toughie

Thinking of all you guys who are spotting / bleeding. It happened in both my pregnancies and the strange thing is I bleed more in my 1st pregnancy which resulted in the most beautiful little girl. It's such a worry but hang in there.

Fingers crossed it won't happen again - getting weekly acupuncture to help. Anyone else gone down that route???

PistachioTruffle · 16/04/2013 20:17

Quiet, I'm sorry you're still so poorly, would you consider visiting your GP? Flowers

2beornot · 16/04/2013 20:58

Hi ladies!!! Congratulations you lot on all the BFPs - I'm surprised there's so many on here.

Do you mind if I join? I got my BFP last Fri (on 7dpo!!) and confirmed it today. My EDD is 27th Dec so a Christmas baby, and will be my second.

Are there any other late Dec ladies on here?

musiceverywhere · 16/04/2013 20:59

Adding myself to those going through spotting/bleeding Sad And now even more stressed. Added to the fact that I did another HPT today and the line was fainter :( Does that really indicate anything? Hope all others ok, just have to wait it out I guess.

lisbapalea · 16/04/2013 21:03

2beornot Welcome and congratulations! I am also a late December-er; 21 Dec according to an online due date calculator, although when I did it my way it was 28 Dec! I went with the early date for the list on this thread but I do like the idea of 28th as that was my lovely granny's birthday!
