Feather bag! I'm so pleased for you. I'm sorry you've lost one baby but to have another in there growing away must feel amazing! So pleased for you xx

QuietNinjaTardis · 15/04/2013 15:04

Oh and thanks for the entertaining 3 yer old ideas ladies.

musiceverywhere · 15/04/2013 17:19

Thanks Orbis and Yoga, Its great to have ppl to talk to. I've decided against telling any family yet, especially as my mum is a worrier too!
Good suggestion re: cd, will see what's out there. Made a GP appt for next week to see if I can get HCG levels done and then try and see midwife the week after.
Starting some renovations this week so hopefully that will take mind off!
For the list I'm TTC#1, due date approx dec 18th.

musiceverywhere · 15/04/2013 17:21

Btw style- cheese and cough medicine??! What made you think of that??

b0nker5Mum · 15/04/2013 17:28

Fingers crossed feather... I had a massive bleed with dd and my mum is still convinced she was a twin... She's 16 now any lovely...

I have spent the day in bed... Headache from hell... Managed to keep down toast and dry chocolaty cereal... But the headache just won't shift... Daren't move the seabands in case they are the reason I feel less nauseous!

Any headache tips? I have been using the kool n sooth pads on the back of my neck and forehead but that's it... Too scared to try paracetamol....

2Labradors · 15/04/2013 17:39

Welcome ccsays

Oh feather I'm so pleased for you. Sorry about twin number 1 but what amazing news about twin number 2, I'm wishing you all the best xx

CCake79 · 15/04/2013 17:45

b0nker5Mum - I used paracetamol all through my first pregnancy and will be using it through this one if I need to. No probs using paracetamol - NHS advice suggests lowest possible dose for shortest possible time. You may find taking just one paracetmol makes a dent in your headache.

I remember being really worried that my migraines wouldn't be controlled with something so mild, but in the end pregnancy got rid of them!! Such a relief as I used to have propranolol and co-codamol to control them.

2Labradors · 15/04/2013 17:50

Been thinking about getting an early private reassurance scan. I'm ever so anxious about this pregnancy. I have IBS and have all different pains going on, all usually wind related, but I'm constantly worried. It's #3 and was a bit of a surprise although I'm over the moon, so have had 2 occasions where alcohol was involved at the very beginning which worries me (although I did the same with DS and he's just fab).

My 1st midwife appointment will be 2 weeks today when I will be 9 weeks, and then I will be sent for scan at 12/13 weeks I expect, but this all feels like such a long time away.

Has anyone else had a private early scan before?

I've found somewhere that does them for £50 and its purely for reassurance, thinks its a 10 min scan. I wonder if it would ease my worries or not? I know I'm going to constantly worry though, my other DC are 9 and 7 and I'm still worrying about them.

b0nker5Mum · 15/04/2013 17:56

Thanks cake, I may have to try paracetamol if it won't budge... Anyone know what the lowest dose is so I can hunt thru the cupboards... Or send dp out...Wink

I feel like I need some salt and vinegar squares or discos.... Probably dehydrated!

CCake79 · 15/04/2013 18:03

500mg is the smallest tablet you can buy, but if you buy the tablets or caplets (rather than the capsules), you can halve them, so smallest dose possible is 250mg. Adult dose is usually 1-2 tablets of 500mg each, so you could start with half a tablet.

b0nker5Mum · 15/04/2013 18:08

Thanks cake, we have the tablets in the cupboard... Will go and try...

I hate headaches!!

You and me both!!! My migraines disappeared around the middle of my last pregnancy (although reappeared with my pre-eclampsia) and didn't make another appearance until my daughter was 7 months old. Was SO not happy to have them back! Hoping this pregnancy will be the same...

Hope your head feels better soon! I find that the cool strips are reasonably good, especially applied to the forehead when I go to bed.

Wow, I'm so happy for you feather! That's really excellent news! Really really chuffed!

I've had a bit of a lightheaded feeling today and a headache on and off. Had achey feelings too, it wasn't cramping, just aches. Do you think I should be worried about this?

I also have achey legs. Aching right deep inside, it's a right pain. Don't know whether that's a first day back at work thing or a pregnancy thing but I've never had it before. A bath might do me good i think. I normally have my bath monkey-noises-hot, I've heard that's not allowed now, how hot should it be?

Ganetgob · 15/04/2013 18:35

They should give drum rolls, Harry, it's a big thing!

13loki · 15/04/2013 18:41

Welcome newbies. Wow feather!

Went to mw today. She did a whole heap of calling around to get my ultrasound booked, because "they might not speak english. Well, they can speak english, but they might not want to"

So, bloods booked for May 7, midwife may 13th, ultrasound May 23rd, then nothing until 20 weeks!

PistachioTruffle · 15/04/2013 18:42

Started with some bleeding today, have an early scan on Wednesday to see whats going on. I'm absolutely distraught Sad

OrbisNonSufficit · 15/04/2013 18:42

b0nker5Mum poor you Sad splitting headaches are horrible... do you know what's causing it? I get loads of headaches, depending on the cause you can get some relief without drugs. Things to try:

  • neck tension: neck massage and ice pack (and make sure you don't sit with your head tipped forward, makes it worse)
  • dehydration: drink a lot of water
  • sinuses: saline nasal rinse (quite gross but effective)

Oh pistachio, I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best x

13loki · 15/04/2013 18:49

Oh pistachio massive hugs, good luck with the scan.

b0nker5Mum · 15/04/2013 18:53

I do occasionally get migraines but bcp seemed to help... Since coming off I have had one bad one but I'm not usually physically sick. I thought yesterday was the start of ms so carried on as normal, I think actually it was a vomiting bug (came into contact with friends last week) and since I couldn't keep anything down yesterday and didn't feel like trying I think it's dehydration... I'm trying to sip water.... And rehydrate myself...

Pistachio... Everything crossed for you... Big hugs...

OrbisNonSufficit · 15/04/2013 18:56

Oh no pistachio, fingers crossed it's just a little bit of non-serious easily explained spotting. We'll virtually hold your hand until you find out what's going on!
