Hi can I join in?
BFP last week, no idea how far I am but must be due sometime in december I think. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks just over 5 weeks ago so I suppose I could be 4 weeks or I could be 2 - no idea. Bit nervous but hoping for the best.
Already have DS 4 and DD2 who will be 5 and 3 by then.

Rang community midwives but as im out of catchment for hospital I want (st marys Manchester - its amazing no chance im going anywhere else!) I have to go to gp and get them to refer me to hosp so I presume then all appointments will be at the hospital.
2 weeks till I can see gp! Hoping he will get me a scan asap to find a date - if I play on my worries from mc do you think it will help get an earlier scan?

Looking forward to chatting with you alll :)

Shootingstarsandcomets · 08/04/2013 17:42

Hi iris and congrats! The EPU at st Mary's are great. I went to them with my mc and they were so lovely. They will definitely do you a reassurance scan I'm sure. We've moved away from Manchester now or I'd love to have my baby there.
Today's gone really quickly in the end. One more sleep until my scan- eeek!

SorryMyLollipop · 08/04/2013 18:43

I've found a place that does private scans for £50 and its only 1 mile from my house. Very tempting ... Think I might have to go ...

SorryMyLollipop · 08/04/2013 18:44

I just googled - early pregnancy scan xxxxxxx (my area), loads came up.

Iris1 · 08/04/2013 18:47

Hi shooting I went to st marys EPU for my mc too they were lovely. I also had my dd there in 2010 and it was great, not like in 2008 when I had my ds (in Oldham-bloody awful).
Ive just never experienced having to go togp to be referred to hospital before as I lived In a different area when I had my other two and there you just saw community midwives but apparently community midwives here wont see you if you want st marys!

Two weeks for a gp appointment! Time will definitely drag on this time I think - wont relax till I have had a scan!

Good luck to all those having scans soon!

Harry78 - Yes - its a habit that once you have kids never leaves you, I always check the fridge if I can't find something and 9 times out of 10 its there.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 08/04/2013 19:15

Yes! Spacey here definitely, although not sure i can put it all down to pregnancy might have something to do with a nocturnal 7 month old! Must get him sleeping through the night before sprog 2 arrives or I really will be a total zombie.

Hello, can I join too? Just got a bfp yesterday, due December 5th with first baby! (Although I suspect my due date will be moved back at the dating scan)

Feeling excited and really quite nervous, can't quite believe it. It seems so fragile at the minute, really hoping all goes well. Tying to keep it to ourselves until after first trimester.

OrbisNonSufficit · 08/04/2013 22:24

harry Tell me about it re the napping! Every time I eat I get drowned in tiredness like I'm swimming in treacle... I may need to stop eating at work!

OrbisNonSufficit · 08/04/2013 22:28

Hello pistachio! I can't really believe it either. We're not sure when to tell everyone either - just in case... But I don't think I can keep it secret for months. Besides I'm dying to quiz my mum about what her pregnancies were like.

Those not on #1, when did you tell nearest and dearest (I know the world at large is at end of first trimester)?

Ganetgob · 08/04/2013 22:35

Hi everyone, can I join?

I got my bfp today so am due on 15th December.

I have an appointment with the nurse tomorrow (thought now was a good time to join a doctors by my new house!) It's just a 'new patient health check' thing but I guess I'll be able to talk to her about it all or make a follow up appointment with a doctor.

I'm really worried that its all in my head though. There were definitely 2 lines, I looked a hundred times but I'm going to do another test in the morning to double check!

Congratulations to everyone already here!

Ganetgob · 08/04/2013 22:45

I'm on my phone, so can't add myself but I'm ganetgob, EDD 15th dec, baby no 1. Would someone mind adding me please?

Thanks x

Soopermum1 · 08/04/2013 22:59

Hi Orbis

With my DC1 I told my mum straight away, but I wished I hadn't as we had a scare with the scan (lots more tests) and my mum was distraught and very worried about me.

This time, I'm going to wait til all that is finished and the coast is (hopefully) clear. Not sure if she'll be that happy though, I think she thinks she's done with tiny babies- eek!

I told a few very close friends, but pretty much kept it all under wraps until after the scan. This time, same again.

OrbisNonSufficit · 09/04/2013 07:24

Thanks for the advice Soopermum. Do you mean the dating scan or the anomaly scan?

Shootingstarsandcomets · 09/04/2013 08:03

My closest friends spotted it when I was about 8 weeks- I looked different apparently (palefaced and nauseous accompanied by huge boobs!) told everyone after 12 week scan and work at 16 weeks but they all said they'd known for weeks too!
Will probably tell some people after scan today if all ok. 2 hours to go! Have a good day all.

13loki · 09/04/2013 09:10

Good luck shootingstars

I'm going to try to make a dentist midwife appointment (again).

Congratulations to all the new BFPs.

Yesterday I was moaning about having to go to Swedish lessons after work and a (rather pregnant) colleague told me I should just get pregnant, then I can make midwife appointments at the times I should be doing swedish. I was all, oh, yeah, what a brilliant idea.

MildredH · 09/04/2013 10:46

All the best for the scan shooting...

13loki- Swedish lessons after work? Yeesh. I guess it may prevent more dental/mw mix ups but I honestly don't know how I'd stay awake to learn anything after a day at work!

I'm like a doormouse at the moment. Curling up and going to sleep at any opportunity!

Are you overseas temporarily or will you be permanently based there?

13loki · 09/04/2013 11:16

Well, I've just had a little doze on the lounge watching something special with the 2yo. I was too lazy forgot to call the midwife this morning. I will have to call her this afternoon, they have very specific times when you can call or the world will end.

The lessons after work are often excruciating. But I have to learn it, I live here, and it will be permanent don't tell my mum.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 09/04/2013 11:30

Well ladies I didn't know how pregnant I was turns out I am 12 weeks 3 days!!! Edd 19th October! Expected to see a tiny little heartbeat today but there was a whole baby two arms two legs, heartbeat everything! Shock
They did the nuchal test too and that seems fine although obvs haw to wait for the bloods. Think I'd better go and find an October club as dont think I can really stay here now. Good luck all with the rest of your journey. Xxx

MildredH · 09/04/2013 11:36

Woohoo lucky you Shooting! That's great news.. Am SOOO jealous. Can't imagine better news than being further on than I thought.. ( ++ impatient!)

Best of luck xx

kyz1981 · 09/04/2013 11:38
