Hi Aoife

Haven't done this sort of thing before. Last preg was trouble free, but i did pick up loads of useful info from here, hence how I knew it would be better to wait a little if I wanted to get a result on screen, as such. Thanks ladies Smile

Soopermum1 · 07/04/2013 21:20

PS, great news re bloods Smile

Shootingstarsandcomets · 08/04/2013 08:32

Morning everyone.
How was everyone's weekend? Congratulations to all the new BFPs. It's so exciting!
My nausea levels are definitely increasing. Walking past anybody that is smoking is a real trigger. Hiding this in work for another 6 weeks is going to be hard!

Updated list. If you're EDD due date isn't there or is wrong, please let me know and I'll update it.

Harry it is normal try not to worry. I went for a private scan at 8 weeks last time and there are private companies that do it for around £75. I have seen our local hospital is doing it now so its worth a google search. I will try and wait til 12 weeks as long as I continue to feel this sick (if that makes sense) Grin

TakingTheStairs · 08/04/2013 11:51

harry, It's perfectly normal to feel light headed. You have more oxygen in your blood than normal so that will affect how you feel.
I'm going to this place for my early scan, it was recommended by my consultant. You can just call and book. But be aware, my GP said don't go before 7 weeks as you'll get better results/reading after that.

Just saw that my dating scan will be £180. I'm covered by my health insurance but if you're not, I'm sure you can find the same scan for much less money.

b0nker5Mum · 08/04/2013 11:57

Hi all,

Congrats on the new BFPs.

I have a bit of a dilemma at work. One of my colleagues has been going through ivf for the past few years will no positive results, I am feeling awful because she doesn't even know we were going to start trying and her latest round has left her with a bad infection and needing an emergency operation (Not sure on the details). Her manager (old school, doesn't think there is a place for women in the workforce!) doesn't think she should be paid because its self inflicted....

Anyway just needed to get that off my chest since there are only 2 other people who know in RL! sorry for dumping!

I was wondering.... I commute to work and wondered how people cope with the journey and possible morning sickness (mine has not started yet and the last time (a long time ago!) I drove to work so was ok to pull over do what I had to and get to work feeling much better!) and the constant need to pee... It will be noted if I get up as much as I need to go! I have cut down on tea but trying to take in more fluids (which will also be noted!)... Roll on 12 weeks...

What other symptoms are you all having? I'm 5 weeks today... And mainly the need to pee every 10 mins, bloating (I swear I look 5 months!!), cramps which seem worse when I eat or drink....

Shootingstarsandcomets · 08/04/2013 12:05

Oh bonkers, that's rotten for your friend. How awful. The baby game is definitely difficult. I have a friend who start trying same time as us and we are now on dc2 whilst they have none- am dreading telling her.
Private scans- I went to babybond with my first and it was £95, the first time I went I was too early and they let me have a free rescan. Not sure if all places do that but I thought it was pretty good of them.
Symptoms here include peeing a lot, ballooning boobs and feeling queasy on and off all day but no actually throwing up which is a blessing.
I've eaten lunch already- oops! Going to be starving in about.........half an hour Grin

Weescottie · 08/04/2013 12:51

Bonkers that is awful about your colleague- can't believe how mean her manager is being!

Harry I also have been light headed - seems to be normal I think! My only other symptoms have been cramping, a little bloating and tender boobs. I panicked at the weekend as symptoms disappeared for a couple of days - never thought I'd be so glad for cramping to return Hmm

I'm finding it do hard to keep being pregnant a secret, desperate to tell someone! My mum phoned last night and was so hard to say I'd no news. But she is at a family wedding in a weeks time and there would be no hope of her not telling everyone so hoping to tell her at 8 weeks when things are a bit more developed and she's hot less chance to blab in excitement Smile

I also have a question re seeing doc/ midwife. I've booked myself a doc appointment for next week (was all they had) but wondering if instead I should book with midwife? Do you just ask the receptionist? The reason I booked doc is that I have an underactive thyroid and read that I would need my bloods checked more regularly if pregnant. Anyone any experience of this?

MildredH · 08/04/2013 13:16

Weescot- I'd def see the gp if I were you re the thyroid. They will deal with that bit then send you on to the mw for booking in..

b0nker5Mum · 08/04/2013 13:30

When I phoned the doc last week to ask whether I should see the doc first or straight to the mw the receptionist said I can't possibly self diagnose and should see the doc! (Which they have just cancelled and can't reschedule as they are too busy!!!)

Soopermum1 · 08/04/2013 13:31

Got back from docs, he referred me to EPU but when I called them up I spoke to a lovely lady who reckons the bleeding is implantation bleeding. I've got a scan next week, to be on the safe side, when there'll def be something to see. She also said running will make no difference so will strap on my trainers and go for a run tonight, if I can squash myself into my sports bra, though. Trip to Bravissimo imminent Hmm

Surprised at preg symptoms this time round, I had none the last time, apart from peeing all the time. This time I have nausea and massive sore boobs and this bleeding malarky

Wow Harry that's a really good price! Where are you based if you don't mind me asking.

MildredH · 08/04/2013 14:41

Don't tempt me Harry- at 45 pounds I'd like a weekly scan to prevent this anxiety!!

Congrats to all the new BFP!

Been to the Gp today as I think i'm low on iron, and she has booked me in for a dating scan to confirm my dates as I had a chemical Pg before this one and GP wants to make sure it was a Chemical Pg rather than an early bleed that would make me much further along, so my scan is on thursday!!- bit stunned at how quickly she managed that but very pleased!

Hope everyones not feeling to bad- my nausea is pretty much for most of the day now as is the horrible taste in my mouth- I have also been faint and dizzy.

£45.00 is sooo cheap - my local one is £95 ! but I can't justify that at the moment -so was really happy that I am getting a dating scan.
