Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

Gorgeous dress sal so summery and pretty, love it!

I had to order it as the estimated delivery date at the bridal shop if u order today is 2 weeks before the wedding date so if I waited two weeks (scan date) then the estimated delivery day would have been the wedding day which will be no good as I will probly need alterations and deffo the length taking up as I'm only 5ft 2. Not done links before so ill give it ago and apologise in advance if it doesn't work.

this dress but navy blue

Haylebop12 · 20/03/2013 21:57

Natalieand · 20/03/2013 21:58

roofio87 · 20/03/2013 22:25

sal I love that dress! just the kind of thing I picture myself wearing if dp ever decides to propose..........Wink

Sal1977 · 20/03/2013 22:46

I'll send it your way after the wedding Roofie!

I've got a blackboard in my kitchen and in December I wrote on it:

Sal's Xmas Wish List:
iPad
New coat
Baby
Ugg boots
New Mini
Marriage proposal
1 stone weight loss

By valentines day I was able to cross off 4 of them! So basically I'm a chunky with a crap car and no iPad.....but a very bloody one!! Hehe

Sal1977 · 20/03/2013 22:47

So sorry to hear that Celtic.

JellyCurls · 21/03/2013 06:32

Celtic I am so sorry to hear your news. Be kind to yourselves x

pinksky · 21/03/2013 07:05

So much to catch up on... Firstly celtic I hope you're doing ok and have lots of good support around you Flowers.
newbie I'm sorry to hear about the empty sac, but of course great to hear about the wriggly one.

Really great to hear about scans, racheld33 and 34 --love the scan picture, thank you for uploading it. Makes me even more desperate for mine Smile

legally wow! Amazing news!! What a lot to take in. I'm sure it'll all work out brilliantly. Really excited for you. There are heaps of multiples support groups around (partly because of ivf/older mums) if you feel you'd benefit -I saw a whole notice board of groups/activities at our antenatal unit.

I'm 9 weeks today (one of the late ones..) crookie like you time is dragging, but you're right 8 weeks is a milestone for miscarriage risk. I had my booking in appointment yesterday at the hospital. Was really excellent, great mw and covered everything I wanted to discuss. I'll be with a team of 4 community mws and see them at home/my GP practice. Home births are well supported and the mw was very positive about it. She did say they have a birth rider--bacon sandwiches for a morning birth and chocolate cake for afternoon. Just like one born, always scoffing cake!! Grin It was great to have my notes, feels real now. The mw said it was particularly busy at the moment so not sure when I'll get my scan...

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all doing well. Any scans today? X

favellio · 21/03/2013 08:41

So sorry for your sad news Celtic. Sending you lots of baby dust for the future Thanks Envy

Flyer747 · 21/03/2013 08:49

Sorry to hear of your sad news Celtic. Wishing you all the best for the future xx

HotSoupDumpling · 21/03/2013 09:40

Sorry celtic, thinking of you.

Sal - I lurrrrve the wedding dress. It is gowgeous.

(To whoever mentioned 'mucus', ahem, yes, there is lots. Sometimes I worry I have just wet myself...)

BowlFullofJelly · 21/03/2013 10:03

So sorry to hear your news Celtic. Best of luck for getting back on a bus soon, as do come back and let us know how you are getting on xx.

Congrats on scan Rachael - I think my DD will get moved back to late Sep, so there will be quite a few October impostors on here! Legally now you are twins you will probably be the first of us to deliver! I remember being very jealous last time as the wife of a friend was 6 weeks in front of me, but with twins, so she ended up getting her babies about 3 months before me Envy.

Sal the dress is lovely - Tiffany Rose have such lovely things. OH and I are vaguely discussing getting hitched before baby comes - very unromantic though. It's hard to muster up much enthusiasm after 10 years Wink.

Scan at 12.30 today - feel all jittery and unsettled. Keep fingers crossed for me pleased! Just went and spoke to my boss to clear working from home this afternoon, and he was DEFINITELY looking at my belly, really quite blatant. If all is well then I think I will just tell work tomorrow as feel a bit silly keeping it a secret - I think I just look like I need a big poo, but clearly others have their suspicions! I have a cunning plan for my maternity cover so that should please them, but am planning on taking much longer then last time, so that probably won't!

Anyone else scanning today?

legallyblond · 21/03/2013 10:15

Hi all!

So sorry Celtic x Thanks

Newbie, also really sorry to hear about the empty sac. I am so glad the other is doing well though. When we discovered it was twins af the 12w scan (hope that's not insensitive to say), the sonographer did say its unusual to have surprise twins at 12 w, it is apparently v common for it to be twins but one not make it... I expect your feeling a bit mixed - happy but also sad.

Doesnt anyone get terribly anxious for that 48 hour wait after thd scan where you might get a call if you're high downs risk...?. One day down and no call, so feeling a teeny but relived already. I'll be glad to get to this afternoon! Perhaps other hospitals do it differently? My old hospital was the same (other end of the country) - dating scan and nuchal fold, then bloods on thr samd day .... Then you'll get a call within 48 hours if the full screening (ie age + nuchal measurement + bloods + other factors) comes back as high risk). No news is good news and if low risk, you get a letter a few days later. I gather you tend to hear in 1st 24 hours if it's bad, so am starting to relax a little. I am amazed no one else has mentioned that horrible 48 hours of jumping everytime the phone rings!!!

Good luck today Bowlfullofjelly!

pinksky · 21/03/2013 10:31

Hope it goes well, bowlfulofjelly--look forward to hearing about it.

Sal1977 · 21/03/2013 10:47

Had a tiny bit of brown spotting here this morning...went into proper meltdown! My lovely midwife has said not to worry that I might just be a 'spotter' and booked me in for a scan at the EPU on Tuesday when I'll be 11+3. My 12 weeker isn't for another 2 weeks so thank god she could get me in sooner!!!!

Back on knicker watch here in Devon..... Confused

SeriousStuff · 21/03/2013 11:07

Good luck today jelly - let us know how you get on.

Sal hand holding available if needed, but spotting is quite common. My friend told me the other day that her grandmother had her period all the way through her pregnancy. The human body is a strange and wonderful thing! Good to know you'll get a scan so quickly though.

Natalieand · 21/03/2013 11:30

legally with dd they called me a week after nuchal fold screening too say I was low risk. But I always thought (correct me if I'm wrong) that if the neck fluid measurement is increased then they can tell u that there and then? I could be imagining that tho lol.

Just been to see be gp as I (as well as some others if I remember right) have thrush and he's just told me that once u get thrush in pregnancy it's very unlikely I will get rid of it until u deliver and the thrush bacteria thrive on pregnancy hormones which obviously no treatment will take away, he then asked if my partner needed treating I said no as we haven't dtd since bfp and he couldn't believe it lol he said he felt sorry for dh and asked if his tongue has hanging out yet hahahaha most awkward conversation of my life!!! He said I suspect I'll see u in a few weeks or more treatment for it anyway my questions is to those with thrush treatment did u have 6 pessarys to use? As I have to do one pessary a day for 6 days ? Seems a bit excessive to me.

Good luck to all those having scans today let us no how u get on :-)

Xxxxx

pinksky · 21/03/2013 11:48

Natalie, am Shock at the GP! What a thing to say! We haven't DTD either because of my spotting/bleeds- I'm just too scared. Feel like I'll be more happy to once we've have the 12 week scan.
Re thrush treatment, yes the pessaries are fine, but not the oral tablets. I also find that natural yogurt is really great. I put it on a tampon and leave it in overnight. I'd check whether that's OK in pregnancy first. Also, you should find your thrush symptoms can be controlled with diet too (google candida diet).

Sal sorry about the spotting, but that's great that they'll scan you on Tues. it really is common, and I've had it on and off since week 5. Take care X

funkky · 21/03/2013 11:51

celtic so sorry about your loss and hope things happen again quickly.

jelly scan today as well, don't know what to do till 3.45 though, done my nails, shaved Blush DH took the day off and made breakfast and generally fussing about.
All the best with yours!
sal had brown spotting over the weekend, trying not to be too worried but saw GP ( for possible spd) and mentioned it,but since scan is today, he wasn't too fussed, since I wasn't cramping.

Next time I see u ladies will be after my scan, feel really emotional and really hope it's good news

Smitten1981 · 21/03/2013 11:51

OMG don't say that Natalie I got thrush last week and used a Canesten pessary on Sunday and it hasn't made a tiny bit of difference. Slathered the cram on this morning to see if that helped.

This news is is upsetting, argh! Maybe I should go and see the docs (again!)

Smitten1981 · 21/03/2013 11:51

Cream, even!

Wickedgirl · 21/03/2013 11:53

Sorry to hear your sad news Celtic x

roxvox · 21/03/2013 12:07

I had thrush early on (started the day I got my BFP in fact because I went to Tescos and bought both the canesten duo and a pregnancy test). I had only had it once before, and the pessary cleared it up really quickly, but this time it took a lot longer and I used the whole tube of cream up. It did go though and I haven't had it again since.

I always sleep in full on pyjamas, but found that wearing just shorts (baggy shorts, not tight ones) on my bottom half in bed really helped to keep me cool down there and I found the days after the nights when I had worn shorts were less itchy/painful than the days I'd worn my pyjamas the night before.

I hope this helps!
