Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sunny, I recognise that sensation :-/ At the moment baby is trying to shove himself out via my right hand side. I'm really very uncomfortable. Once my dinner has gone down I'm going to lie on my left and hope gravity kicks in.

And that's awesome productivity! I'm still doing more that the 3 bitches I work with too. Probably bloody combined. Not sure I've done that much though!

learnermummy · 20/03/2013 19:50

Yes, these bras have a soft underwire that is fine for preganancy/nursing. They also have nursing clips on. Wouldn't be without them!

It's amazing how productive one can be when a deadline is looming!

Olimoss I got a letter from my midwife to fly back from Sri Lanka for free. I only needed it when I pleaded with them for a better seat on account of my pregnancy. To be honest - the check in desks are so high i think you could easily get away with it. Unless the staff at the gate notice??

learnermummy · 20/03/2013 20:40

Oli perhaps you could phone the midwife and ask? You might not need a full appointment.

Olimoss · 20/03/2013 22:17

Yes good advice, all, cheers, I'll see what she says.

I'm totally wearing normal, underwired bras but did have to go get a bigger size in the back and cup....I'm a Rigby & Peller fan (I've got massive bloody jugs, I hate them) and just can't abide anything that doesn't fit me properly, so is def worth it.

SunnyL · 21/03/2013 05:56

Well that was a truly rubbish nights sleep - 3 hours tops. Did that irritating thing where i knew i have a really important meeting today and needed to be fresh for it so instead of sleeping i lay there worrying about it. Oh and add a healthy dose of indigestion on top of that.

Got a 4.5hr train journey to London this morning. May have to use that time for napping instead of prepping.

MrsBri · 21/03/2013 07:08

Definitely nap, Sunny. Sleep is far more important than prep! :-)

I was kept awake with the Riverdance again last night. Apparently I did manage to sleep through some of it though, as DH told me he felt movement overnight. I appear to have a baby that doesn't sleep. Bodes well :-/

In the office again today...seriously hoping for properly disruptive snow tomorrow so I can stay at home again! I get far more done. Bet it doesn't happen though. Or it'll only get disruptive once I'm at my desk and can't go home!

Littlemissexpecting · 21/03/2013 08:08

Hi everyone!
Just checking in nothing interesting to report. I totally agree about the maternity bras showing with every top I wear its a nightmare! Can't stand underwire at min though as gone from 32 to 36 so having to put up with it and trying to use vest tops under tips where possible.
I'm exhausted working can't wait to finish!! I nearly pulled into services off M1 yesterday for a nap!

pinkbear82 · 21/03/2013 09:54

Well, you have all made me feel much better about the bra situation! I was half expecting it just to be me with odd boobs or something!!

Sunny hope you can nap on the train and re boost.

Oli hope you can get your letter from
The midwife sorted - I have a general midwife office phone number for the area, don't know if you have something similar to track one down with even if yours is busy.

Was up in the night with DP who had chronic toothache. Nothing worse, add a man into the equation and it's the worst thing ever so off to the dentist with him later.
Did make me giggle that I can be awake countless nights and he'll sleep soundly. Bless him.

AmIGoingMad · 21/03/2013 10:53

Redwelly just read your post- glad you've finally managed to get an appt and so sorry you're going through this.

I'm still in underwired bras this time- last time I couldn't face them but this time they're marginally more comfy than the non wired ones. I just wish I could wear my bravado vest all day every day!

Have a lovely time in Rome oli!

DS full of cold so sleep situation has taken a few steps backwards and I'm now full of cold too! Thank goodness I'm off today!

Have a good Thursday all- nearly the weekend!

AmIGoingMad · 21/03/2013 10:53

I appear to be addicted to exclamation marks sorry!

redwellybluewelly · 21/03/2013 11:55

Thanks AmI seems however I got the wrong end of the stick when I thought that I would have any kind of discussion about when the CS would be booked for, even though I have to arrange specialist care for my daughter (she has seizures) which the consultant team are well aware of.

Now looking at going to a hospital out of area, which means a long way to travel as we are so rural but possibility of better care. Would also mean leaving DD for much longer without her seeing her 'noo baby' but I might then be able to relax and gain a bit of confidence in the hospital team.

I am going to have to bit the bullet and get some new bras, and some better maternity PJs - I just wore T-shirts or baggy trousers last time but this time I am carrying so low nothing fits. Bump is about 4/5 inches lower than last time!

pinkbear82 · 21/03/2013 13:53

Redwelly it's such a shame you are having such a time of it. The least the hospital could have done is stuck to their word and supported you.
I don't blame you for looking else where - and I hope you put a complaint in about the lack of support you've had.

Does your dd go to any day care at all? I was just thinking/wondering if she did if someone who knows her from there, and therefore knows what care she needs would be able to help you out? Don't know if that would be at all possible. And no doubt you have ideas of what you might do, but just thought I'd throw something else in the pot - hopefully not out of turn.

RueDeWakening · 21/03/2013 13:54

Oli I love R&P too - I got some fantastic underwired nursing bras from them before DD was born, but I need to replace them this time round, they're really rather knackered - I worked out I bought them about 6 years ago Shock so probably about time!

Redwelly good luck with sorting out your section & DD's care - I'm agitating for a date too as childcare for DD & DS will be my parents, but they are abroad and have to book travel to get here. I have a couple of friends who have offered to be in reserve, but they have kids of their own and husbands who work nights so it could get complicated. You'd think that HCPs realised this... Hmm

Can't remember if I mentioned this already, but I now have another growth scan booked in for next Thursday as there were some concerns raised about last week's - fingers crossed things have settled down a bit by then. Otherwise we'll be looking at sections more towards 35/36 weeks rather than the 38 weeks I'm currently aiming for. Desperate to get past 36 weeks, as DD's birthday will be when I'm 35+6 and don't want to be in hospital for that!

redwellybluewelly · 21/03/2013 13:58

Thanks Pink and Rue

Childcare for DC1 will be her usual daycare or the only family member who is comfortable dealing with the potential seizure risk (they always require paramedics) but I still need to ensure that is in place and nursery while they are outstandingly brilliant have already said that they cannot offer any additional slots. Its just the feeling of lack of support and lack of understanding when I hate the place already.

Rue hope all is well at the growth scan Thanks

Mawgatron · 21/03/2013 14:23

It must be awful having to cope with that red, I hope you find a better alternative to your local hospital.

Have yet to buy maternity bras, although I suspect that next week when I am on Easter holiday I may go on a little jolly to mothercare.

Still off work sick. Full of cold, agonising sinuses. Well grumpy! At least watching Jeremy Kyle is making me feel slightly better- my life could be a lot worse!

maisiebeem · 21/03/2013 15:18

Nothing like a bit of Jeremy Kyle to make you feel better about yourself!
Now- I have a tmi question for you ladies....about hair downstairs! I used to be a regular waxer- but have let that go....poor dh!
As so many people have told me- during labour you loose all self respect, and don't really give crap about how you look- I do really want to start taking better care of the area, I want to feel good down there- iyswim? And would quite like to be pretty trim closer to the birth!
What are you all doing? I was thinking of using hair removal cream, but thinking its going to get more an more awkward to access the area! Also read somewhere (possibly on a previous thread- in which case I apologise for repeating the subject!) that you shouldn't be totally "hair-less" down there as the hair helps prevent infection- if you have stitches etc...! Sorry to lower the tone!

Mawgatron · 21/03/2013 15:22

Glad you asked that Maisie, I'm in exactly the same boat. Also, the bigger I get, the further up my tum my bikini line seems to be travelling! I'm thinking I'm gonna keep waxing, but go for a less extreme version than normal (g string instead of Brazilian). Not sure how late I can have one though, anyone got any ideas?

pinkbear82 · 21/03/2013 15:31

Must be on our minds! I'm usually a trimmer of the area but as I now can't see have been wondering what's best to do as dont want any accidents. But it really has got to the point of needing to do something.

Glad it's not jus my bikini line that's escaping upwards.... Oh the glamour!

AmIGoingMad · 21/03/2013 16:27

I'm definitely with you on this- its pretty bad now! Can't see to do much about it either! Can we use hair removal cream or is that no good for bubs?

Littlemissexpecting · 21/03/2013 16:38

I've been using hair removal cream for the past month or so and it's not too bad. It's a bit wonky where I cant see but I feel it's safer to go wrong with cream than a razor and hopefully as d day gets closer DH won't mind helping. He does complain about the smell though. I bought some veet than comes with a scrubbing brush and it stinks (sensitive one) but quick and easy.
Buy 1 get 1 half price in boots iirc.
Reading here makes me realise how lucky I am not having to plan childcare etc it must be so difficult. I've just got to hope that DH is reachable when I do go into labour. He's a police sergeant so works shifts and if taking statement etc phone is off.

Olimoss · 21/03/2013 16:48

Thanks everyone for Drs letter support - have decided to take a risk and just turn up without one, too much of a hassle in the end, think it should be fine, I'll cover up with scarf and coat anyway!

I had another go at buying scary stuff like nipple cream and maternity pads today. Got a few but freaked out when looking at choice of bottles and sterilises and stuff and so just bought what I had and then ran! Did get a nice rug for the baby's room from Urban Outfitters so it's all ready now bar the cot.

Re: bikini lines. Did mine this morning, we are all in some kind of weird sync! I just propped a mirror up on a chair in the bathroom, stood in the bath and used a good bikini trimmer (Phillips, I think), this trimmed very shirt but no chance of stubbly regrowth or ingrown hairs. Perfect. Think I can manage that all the way as long as with the mirror I can see what I'm doing....don't fancy letting the buy friend near there with anything resembling a cutting surface!

Olimoss · 21/03/2013 16:48

Shirt = short. Obv.

Olimoss · 21/03/2013 16:49

Shit, and buy friend = boyfriend...

I swear my iPad is crazy.
