I was wondering that, Sarah!

DH's parents got back from NZ today with a huge haul of baby stuff for us, including the cutest little pair of Ugg boots bought in duty free in Oz on the way through. Utterly adorable. :-)

I thought you had to be given an ELCS if requested these days?

DontmindifIdo · 10/04/2013 21:40

oh god, I'd basically decided I want a ELCS this time and had been told as long as i was firm that I wanted it I got it...

I'm really on the count down at work - 6 working days left. (work 3 days a week, so 2 weeks left)

Oh gosh hope you all get the CS you want & need. On the flip side im hoping they agree to my homebirth soon! Think I'll order a pool soon anyway.
On the illness front I've now come down with really painful conjunctivitis and pharmacist said no to eye drops Hmm.

redwellybluewelly · 10/04/2013 22:10

learnermummy I would see GP and ask for the magical treatment we get for us when dd an I get it. Its called chlorophenicol and works in 24 hours usually. And I was given it when breastfeeding and they usually apply similar rules to pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Oli come back! We must give you hot lemon and honey and paracetamol as well as sending Flowers and get well soon wishes!

learnermummy · 10/04/2013 22:32

Thanks redwelly, GP tomorrow. Think that's what's in the optrex infected eye drops but suppose gp can prescribe even if pharmacist won't give me it!

Littlemissexpecting · 11/04/2013 07:34

Morning all. Is anyone else getting horrible leg cramps at night in bed? So painful and very very annoying.
P.S who gave me the cold?!

Sunbeam18 · 11/04/2013 08:04

Littlemiss, I had that last night! Was freaking out in case was DVT!

Oli, are you ok? Xx

RueDeWakening · 11/04/2013 08:25

I had cramp last night too, and am now working with a fabulous limp Confused

RueDeWakening · 11/04/2013 08:25

*walking! Bloody autocorrect Grin

MrsBri · 11/04/2013 08:46

I'm very jealous, Dontmind! I finish 3 weeks tomorrow. Can't come soon enough!

Learner, I hope your GP can prescribe something, it sounds nasty.

Littlemiss, I was suffering from cramps, but they seem to have abated in recent weeks, thank god. I do get restless legs though :-/

I have a bit of a cold, quite sneezy. But my main gripe is that my nostrils are always really bloody. Nasty.

I think Baby B has turned the other way. Definitely getting more wriggles than kicks now. Very tickly and funny.

Slept well last night. Still tired though :-/

redwellybluewelly · 11/04/2013 09:56

A way to reduce likelihood of cramp is a banana before bed - increases the potassium in your body which can be a cause of cramp.

I slept like a log last night, didn't even hear DH get up to see to DD at 1am. Feeling very guilty that tiredness is making me shouty mummy more than it should, and DD doesn't respond well at all to shouty mummy and instead gets shouty and angry herself and so it descends into a vicious spiral.

I have 6 weeks and 1.5 days left at work, although I am only 3 days a week

learnermummy · 11/04/2013 12:03

Back from GP and have some drops. He was a bit useless but we seemed to agree that fusidic acid was less risky than chloramphenicol! He refused to give me anything else for my headache though - just take back go back paracetamol which does nothing Hmm. So having another morning on sofa while DS1 plays on wii - thank goodness for skylanders!

learnermummy · 11/04/2013 12:06

Oooh have just seen figleaves doing 20% off again - time for more pricey maternity bras! Code TWENTY. The ones I love are Anita underwired maternity bras.

pinkbear82 · 11/04/2013 12:40

Sorry to see so many are suffering. Lets hope the sun comes out and dries up all the nasties and gives us all a bit of a boost!

I'm in a daze over buggies at the moment. Actually if I'm honest I think I'm in a daze over everything - not sure where time is going or how I'm passing it but its certainly going.

redwellybluewelly · 11/04/2013 13:30

That tip about the maternity bras couldn't have come soon enough THANK YOU! - I'm not going to fess up to how old mine is!

Anyone any tips on where to find good comfy over bump (away from scar) PJs or yoga pants? I might have to resort to Vertbaudet

Littlemissexpecting · 11/04/2013 14:39

Red I got some black pj bottoms from m&s that go over bump so worth looking there. My mothercare ones are under bump.

redwellybluewelly · 11/04/2013 14:53

were they maternity ones littlemiss or just much bigger size than usual?

Olimoss · 11/04/2013 14:56

Hullo Hullo!

Sorry, work was (is) nuts and this morning we had the scan at the fetal medical clinic thingy and this stupid chest infection won't go away....I've just had a massive thickshake from Byron Burgers (obv for the calcium, baby needs it, yes?) so have come home to work from the sofa and rest whilst it all digests.

Have been trying to find old-man drawstring pyjama pants everywhere - can't seem to find them....I had a look around Debenhams and suchlike for PJs for hospital but, bleurgh, so horrid! I've just gut-grown out of all my PJ trousers and am reduced to a single pair of dodgy grey trackie dacks which I wear under the bump, so prob not ideal for Csection.

Scan was good - definitely a big difference between detail in private and NHS scan for sure. Baby measuring a bit big and fluid measuring a bit too much so have to go back in two weeks to recheck, but have 2 NHS midwife appts next week so will discuss with them then, as well. Comfortably stuck in breech position, the baby was not for turning! Kicked and punched all the way through, was good to see him - totally looks human now, 4lb 11oz as well. Scary.

Right, I'm off to investigate your tips for bras (although think will buy post-birth as have massive boobs and no idea what offensive size they will reach once the milk is in) and do the final John Lewis list. And work, obviously....

cough, splutter

Littlemissexpecting · 11/04/2013 17:24

Red they were maternity ones. They also have separate cami/vest tops with feeding straps.

Littlemissexpecting · 11/04/2013 17:27

Red sorry I've just had a look and they aren't showing anymore. I only bought them last week!!

Sarah2506 · 11/04/2013 18:09

Today I have learned that Mcvities have launched a giant Jaffa cake. Awesome. m.hotukdeals.com/deals/giant-jaffa-cake-big-one-7-asda-morrisons-1523105?mforwarded=true&mforwarded=true

I need new bras so bad! My existing ones are too small, digs into my new back fat and are generally unpleasant. But is there any point buying now?! Won't they just get bigger? Should I not be contacting the RAF for a couple of parachutes and and some scaffolding?

Olimoss · 11/04/2013 18:22

Sarah - I just bought my usual Rigby & Peller ones, but refitted (was 2 cups sizes and one back size larger) to wear throughout pregnancy, and they have been great....

Littlemissexpecting · 11/04/2013 18:51

Sarah I have bought a couple of great bras to last me rest of pregnancy from Sainsburys. I'll buy proper nursing bras after baby has arrived. The ones from Sainsburys come in small, medium, large etc and have no underwire but look like a crop top/ sports bra. They are a fiver no padding or 8 pound with padding so a bargain and very very comfy!!

Sarah2506 · 11/04/2013 19:10

oli this is probably very unfair but on the basis of your posts I have this mental image of you as this massive Amazonian tall Aussie girl with whopping (though well supported) baps who is at least 52 years old:-)

Olimoss · 11/04/2013 19:23

Sarah - I wish (except for the 52yrs bit....)....!

Your basic 5'6-and-a-bit big titted Aussie, freckled and I'll be nearly 39 when the He-baby arrives.
