That's great news Maw how exciting!!
Well I have a day from hell today got a full day meeting then taking customers out for dinner so I'm up now, and meant to be happy and energetic all day?! Any tips, I would normally rely on caffeine!!

She is due in nov, it is really early days yet (she is only 9 weeks), so there will be about a five month gap. My mum is chuffed to bits- she has been wanting to be a granny for ages!

SOOOOOOO TIRED. Went shopping yesterday and felt completely wiped out afterwards (although did get some cute baby clothes from gap and spent a fortune on hungry caterpillar fabric from john lewis). Meant to be working until the 22nd of may, but am feeling more and more like I might try to finish a bit sooner. Spd is getting pretty bad, but have my first physio tomorrow so hopefully that will help me to cope with it a bit more. Woke up this morn in a bit of a cold sweat about how much work I have to do before I go!

Anyone see the dogging programme last night? That was some interesting viewing...

Maw, that will be so lovely for your family to have 2 babies so close together. :-)

We've got quite a few Hungry Caterpillar baby gros. They're so cute!

I'm finishing a week earlier than I had been, but thanks to bank holidays my maternity pay will only start 4 days earlier. Not so bad :-)

I feel for all of you with SPD. I only get bump ache and that's bad enough.

Got about 3.5 hours' sleep last night. Painful!

Binkybix · 10/04/2013 08:20

Hi all

Just a quick one as am popping out to sort out my I phone soon (broke previous one by dropping in washing up bowl). Just bought I'd mention that I did pregnancy Ogaden for unrest time last night (starting a bit late).

It was great - nice to use my body again, and I saw how it could be helpful for the birth, with some of the moves we practised. I would recommend it.

Hope all are doing well x

Hi All,

It was such a hectic week so only just caught up with posts and have a chance to say hi to everyone!! DP was off work to do the decorating & supervise loft flooring getting put in so I was in charge of nursery drop offs and pickups. Felt like I didn't get a minute! House is nearly ready for the new arrival though so that's a relief!! Hope you are all having a good Wednesday?

I have my last active birthing class tonight (Lazy Daisy Baby). I've really enjoyed it so sad it'll be over. I'm planning to try an aquanatal from next week though so looking forward to that. I'm booked in for NHS classes in May as well. Not sure what they'll be like but I get 2 hours off work on Friday afternoons to go so that's great in itself. I went to NCT with DP when we were expecting DS - loved them and still great friends with everyone in the class.

I've only got 7 1/2 weeks left at work - can't believe it! Anyone else finding the thought of being off hard to get their head around? My sister is due just as I start my leave so I'm hoping she goes on time so I can get some early practice in!! If not we can hang out and watch dvds together so either way its great.

I loved the 3D scan - couldn't take my eyes off the beautiful wee face I was seeing - fell head over heals straight away. She's quite a gentle wee thing kicks wise so it was lovely to see her so busy and focused on trying to suck her hands and thumb.

Mrs Bri - in the class I've been doing they taught us a yoga move called rolling cobra which is supposed to be good at shifting baby a bit. I was hoping to find a video as I'm rubbish at explaining things but as of yet no luck - so here goes... start on all fours, inhale, arch your back, bring your bum to your heels then as you exhale push forward through your nose, boobs and baby to the floor coming back up to all fours again (then repeat). It's supposed to be particularly good at moving babies who are back to back. Hope that helps :)

Sorry - that was an essay!! Best actually get started with some work now!!

Lx

Lou I did Lazy Daisy too and really liked it. Am friends with all the girls from the class now and has been a really good support network. Would recommend it if you have a class in your area. Am also doing their couples workshp this weekend, so my partner can learn some massage techniques. Am also doing NCT but found lazy daisy much more practical. I hear the insomnia ladies, am asleep at my desk this morning!

LouGlasgow · 10/04/2013 09:58

Let me know how the couples workshop goes massagegirl - we haven't decided whether or not to go to it. I'm definitely hoping to fit in the lazy daisy baby massage course when the baby is here - it looks great :)

LexiLexi · 10/04/2013 09:59

Cograts to your sister Maw, lovely to have a playmate in the family.

On the subject of yoga, cat posture is really good for pregnancy and can be used as part of an active birth too, there are plenty of decent links with photos on google.

Had MW appointment yesterday and saw a Senior Midwife, apparently I'm measuring 3 1/2 weeks behind (though I promise it doesn't feel like it!). She looked genuinely concerned as to why this wasn't picked up before and has booked me in for a growth scan. Fingers crossed all is ok.

Hope everyone is having a good day

raises head above illness parapet

Hi All, been reading but too busy and ill to do much contributing - is good as always to hear the updates.....

Might I recommend you avoid a chest infection if at all possible? Trying to cough with squished lungs = pain and bruised intercostal muscles!

Not well yet but I think am on improve. Would actually probably murder in exchange for a proper night's sleep, utterly exhausted. Am at tail-end of a year-long contract so that's frantic, and have (stupidly) agreed another piece of work to complete before NewHuman arrives. Curses of self employment, is anti-instinctual to turn work down.

Having said that, am utterly shattered and totally jealous of anyone who gets to go on leave earlier than a week or so before due date! I think a C-section is looking extremely likely so if they do at 38 or 39 weeks means NewHuman will arrive 3rd or 4th week of May. Hopefully you'll all let me stay in the group even if he arrives in May!

NCT starts next week, 5 classes over 2 weeks, must admit am dreading it.

Finally, we are having a private scan at the Foetal Medical Centre tomorrow, kind of looking forward to it and kind of nervous!

goes back to hiding behind laptop at work, coughing up lungs

Sarah2506 · 10/04/2013 11:38

We are so not a good advert for the third trimester! Shattered, ill, sick, slow. I'm off work today. The whopping cough jab has left me feeling pretty sick and I didn't sleep. Horrible. She said I might react badly as it includes tetanus and I had that jab not so long ago. Baby kicked all night so wonder if she felt it too. I think that there should be some legal requirement that you can't work after 32 weeks or thereabouts. Would take all the 'when should we finish' stuff out the equation! Oil- how come having section? Mine is on the stroke of 39 weeks. I would quite like to have it at 38!

Olimoss · 10/04/2013 12:02

Sarah A few reasons crossing both medical and maternal request....but it's been a massive palaver as I'm at C&W and they are really cautious about booking CSections as they do so many, so have had to attend what seems like a bazillion appts with Consultants, Perinatal wotsits, specialist midwives, etc. Anyway hoping to know for sure next week. We shall see!

SunnyL · 10/04/2013 12:53

Hi all. Sorry you're all feeling rubbish. I can highly recommend taking a babymoon soon to give you some energy for the last couple of months.

We were meant to sail for Barra yesterday but the ferry was cancelled. Thankfully found a nice hotel that took dogs and spent yesterday afternoon and this morning on Tralee beach with the dog. Ferry goes in about half an hour so will be humming a bit of Rod Stewart 'We are sailing' in a few minutes. See you all on the other side!

Sarah2506 · 10/04/2013 12:59

Oli C&W have a really high rate so I guess they are pretty funny about it. I went in expecting a battle but they booked me straight in as my existing scar tissue would be a problem. It's weird knowing what's going to happen and hopefully when. Have you spoken to the NCT lady about it? Mine was pretty good given they like natural birth! I've shut all thoughts of normal labour far far away, on the basis I just don't need to know!

Olimoss · 10/04/2013 13:39

Sarah - yep and prob is they lump their ELCS in with EMCS figures and it all gets messy. But hey ho, should be fine.....

NCT starts next week. Or week after. I think next week. Hoping we'll know the CSection situation by then. Actually I think if we are in for a fight at C&W then we may go private at the last minute, so CSection anyway. Am quite old, the likelihood of interventions and possible EMCS for me is really high. Would rather avoid.

Sarah2506 · 10/04/2013 13:43

I'm pretty sure they can't force you either way. Those thousands of quids would be better spent on baby not on private section. Ohh unless you are secretly the Duchess of Cambridge?!

DontmindifIdo · 10/04/2013 14:02

Olimoss - I believe you have a right a c section, but it's important not to waiver - if you 100% want one, then argue your case. Also feeling a litle nervous about this, I saw a consultant at 20 weeks and he said he'd sign off on a c section if I wanted one, but that he was booking me in again at 34 weeks to finalise the birth plan once DH and I had time to talk it through more. Now I see that appointment is going to be with a different consultant, hope they are equally as accomodating.

OP posts:
Olimoss · 10/04/2013 15:40

Thanks dontmind - yes have been absolutely clear for existing medical reasons (already investigated by consultant anyway) as well as maternal request, from early February actually, and just been jumping through procedural hoops at hospital since then. I believe the obstetrics decision-making committee meet early next week and the letter from the Perinatal service (who I saw this week) is supportive of the request, so....

I have met with two other consultants who both support my and my partner's request but it's not up to them, is up to committee which has hospital's commissioners on it - they do the deciding!

redwellybluewelly · 10/04/2013 16:24

Ironic isn't it?
I'm booked for an ELCS and I still haven't come to terms with the idea

Sarah2506 · 10/04/2013 18:37

I find it remarkable the hoops you have to go through! What happened to maternal choice? I would be surprised if anyone would actually chose major surgery without good reason so why do they make such a drama when you do ask?

Olimoss · 10/04/2013 18:50

It's cost, it really is - but seemingly the decision doesn't take into account that due to my age and other circumstances I'm much more likely than not to require interventions that will end up heaps more expensive than an ELCS, and that risks will also be better managed.

RedWelly - Tis a rum thing, true....

Olimoss · 10/04/2013 18:51

Gah I mean expensive if I end up with EMCS

Olimoss · 10/04/2013 18:53

No I don't, I mean ELCS. Shit. Sorry, work and commute has totally fried my brain today.

I'll go hide away for a while now, safer for everyone.

Sarah2506 · 10/04/2013 19:53

You really are poorly aren't you! How old is 'really old' btw?
