Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know forgetmenots its so surreal

Is it me or is anyone else feeling not rested after getting up? I feel knackered! It may be the tail end of the sickness that I've had but I am absolutely hanging

MrsBri · 01/04/2013 11:05

Forget, the last 2 weeks have been mental on the watching baby front! It's fascinating. DH also plays 'find the foot' and will press lightly because baby pushes back. Cuteness. :-)

Think I'll look for those PJs, though probably sold out now!

Hmmm...good reminder re nursing bras. Though I was hoping to wait a few more weeks yet before splashing out (and to allow my boobs to increase a touch more!). I'll be packing my bag tomorrow though, with what I do have.

Pink, I do feel tired a lot of the time. And everything is SO much effort. :-/ Think this is it now, sadly.

forgetmenots · 01/04/2013 11:37

I'm not too bad on tiredness - but I am sleeping like a champion, and luckily baby seems to wake when I wake (Don't see that lasting for long!)

I think I'm going to go on the very glam bra and nightie shopping trip at the weekend...

Mrsbri that's really cute! We can't identify between hand/elbow/foot yet but given that baby was firmly head down at my last appointment I'm assuming those are feet banging my ribs! :)

MrsBri · 01/04/2013 12:00

Forget, Baby B has tried head down on at least 2 occasions, but doesn't stay there for long. The right hand side is the preferred location at present. Hopefully head down will come sooner rather than later, else I foresee much time spent on all fours with my arse in the air attempting to turn him. And DH is bound to see that as some sort of invitation!!

Nighties and bras. Once upon a time that would have been for sexy clothing. Sigh!

You're lucky with your baby's waking hours, forget. Baby B used to do that. Now I get Riverdance when I'm trying to sleep. Though I must sleep through it sometimes as I dream about baby kicking me!

I have to say that one benefit of pregnancy is very clear, very soft skin. Wonder how long that'll take to go afterwards?!

MrsBri · 01/04/2013 12:01

Oh, and the only reason we know it's a foot is its size and shape. Generally we can't tell if we aren't pressing on it.

I'm a bit squeamish about it though. Daft really!

SunnyL · 01/04/2013 14:22

When you just HAVE to eat the creme egg even though you know it will give you indigestion........thank god for Gaviscon.

forgetmenots · 01/04/2013 16:17

Haha MrsBri - I'm thinking the night-time dancing might not be far off, or it might be the benefit of anterior placenta (cushion for sleep!). I have noticed that baby likes kicking against my dreamgenii pillow though, which is quite funny ('give me more room to jump about!!')

The nightie and bra situation has gone distinctly granny fashion, was actually laughing at the window of Ann Summers the other day! Oh the memories haha! My skin's pretty good too, except (bizarrely) my shoulders, which have broken out teenage style and now gone red and sore!

With you on the Gaviscon SunnyL. I have deposited bottles at work and around the house :)

MrsBri · 01/04/2013 16:21

Yes, forget...that is exactly it, dancing against the pillow!! How funny :-)

I've just started my cross stitch. Here's hoping I manage it OK.

forgetmenots · 01/04/2013 17:01

Good luck with the cross stitch! Lovely idea. A friend of mine sent me this link from guardian online about making a swaddle blanket:

www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/mar/06/how-to-make-a-swaddle-blanket

I'm not great at sewing but might give this a try once I've stopped work!

Sunbeam18 · 01/04/2013 17:46

Am starting the process of packing up my flat to move in with BF next week. Aargh, knackering and scary. Trying to find tenants for my flat at the same time. Having a lie down after packing each box; don't worry am leaving all the lifting to DP.
Lovely idea about the cross stitch. My friend is quilting a blanket for my baby. So sweet.
I'm seeing a consultant for first time on Wednesday (a formality due to being 40). What should I expect?

forgetmenots · 01/04/2013 18:23

I'm moving too sunbeam, it's really stressful, glad to hear your DP is doing the lion's share :)

Can't help about consultant I'm afraid - is it an extra level of monitoring? Think I would be quite pleased in one way to see one - feels like a really thorough level of care (not that I've been unhappy with my midwives but the more who want to help the merrier I feel!)

pinkapples · 01/04/2013 18:32

Wow brave ladies I don't think i could do it not at this point hope all goes well

Can't help on the consultant front either I'm afraid but good luck I'm sure it will be fine

I'm in 2 minds whether to phone doctor tomorrow about my sickness not been sick today and am feeling much better but my urine is still orange even though I've increased my water intake might phone and see if they can get me in lay it on thick surely they'll check baby just in case

forgetmenots · 01/04/2013 18:46

Pinkapples I think at this stage even if you're worried just call. There are questions they can ask you over the phone even if you don't need to go in. Definitely give them or maternity assessment at your hospital/unit a ring.

pinkapples · 01/04/2013 19:09

Yea will phone and make an appointment should get in with duty nurse or doctor before lunch have my scan at 2.15 tomorrow woohoo

Olimoss · 01/04/2013 19:42

Sunbeam I've seen a consultant a couple of times - no biggie, it's just a check to see whether you need any extra medical-style support I think. What they are is helpfully risk averse - I'd mentioned that baby had been a bit quiet and he shot me straight off for a scan which I considered a bonus (as I'd just mentioned baby quiet as a matter of course, didn't think there was much in it as had read they have quiet periods)....

DontmindifIdo · 01/04/2013 19:56

Sunbeam - be prepared, first thing my consultant asked me was "now, you tell me why you are here" I tried to pick from the various things and then went with the one that was the biggie, ie. last time your colleagues fucked up... (you'll be glad to know I worded it a little better than that - I can pretend to be a lady when faced with a professional person... Wink )

Pinkapples - do not worry about making a fuss.

I can't believe I'm 30 weeks! I need to get DH to get everything down from the loft, the fact that we have everything (bar the consumables like nappies and cotton wool pads, just need to add that to the Ocado order at some point over the next few weeks) has led to a false sense of security for me, we need to get organised. I think the weather hasn't helped, in my head it's about February, I'm having a baby end of spring/start of summer, we had snow yesterday, I've got ages... except if this one turns up at around 38 weeks like DS did, then I'll be having a baby at the end of May - we are now in April, that's not that long away... oh lord, time to panic!

OP posts:
RueDeWakening · 01/04/2013 21:05

LOL Dontmind we're in the same boat - we have everything, just need to venture into the garage/cellar/attic to get it out... I did buy some breast pads and maternity pads last week, so at least I've made a start on my hospital bag now.

Mind you, if this one arrives at the same gestation as DS did, he'll be here on Wednesday Shock so perhaps I really ought to get cracking! :o

pinkbear82 · 01/04/2013 21:25

phew you're all scaring me with early arrivals. my friend had a surprise 4 week early baby just before Christmas. I'm no where near ready - haven't brought a thing for my hospital bag yet. or a buggy or a mattress Confused probably should do something about that....

Hoping my silly cold is buggering off now. The whole glamour of sneezing and coughing while trying to not wet oneself really does exhaust you! certainly the Easter weekend has been a wash out here, not really done a thing.

31 weeks on Wednesday and seeing the midwife again - have got the dsd's with us and I'm debating if they should come along and hear bubs heartbeat - I know they'd love it but their mum is a little off with the whole pregnancy thing and I worry if she's still like that it'll cause problems again.

Mawgatron · 01/04/2013 21:27

Hi ladies, hope we are all jammed full of chocolate after Easter! I have had a lovely weekend, lots of chilling out watching game of thrones with DH, went baby shopping in john Lewis today, settled on the uppababy, bought bits to make a baby blanket with my barely used sewing machine, and managed to go out with all my mates until 2 in the morning last night. Feel very proud of myself! Even did some shots of tap water so that I didn't feel left out Wink.

Sorry to hear about people struggling with moving/feeling poorly. I hope that you all get yourselves sorted soon and can start to rest up/feel better.

Got my gestational diabetes test in the morning. Looking forward to that delicious drink you were all saying about. Mmmmmm!

On a more annoying note FUCK OFF PILES!!!!! That is all.

cyclecamper · 01/04/2013 22:16

Hi Everyone. We're back from camping, and I'm absolutely done in! Not from the camping, that was lovely, but the drive was awful, even though I only did the bit in London and my husband did all the rest. It took 36 hours to recover from the drive there and it feels as though the return effort is going to be worse Sad. Thank goodness that the hire car is going back tomorrow! I'm so uncomfortable that I could cry. My bump doesn't like cars.

Sorry for the whinge. Will try to be more coherent (and positive) tomorrow.

Littlemissexpecting · 01/04/2013 22:42

Cycle I had to read your post twice, I thought it had been a 36 hour drive at first, that would have been hell!
Hope your not too sore tomorrow.
I've been in bed a couple of hours as so tired after a rubbish sleep last night so thought i'd have an early night. I've had a bath, had lavender oil in the oil burner and I'm still wide awake, I give up!!
I'm pretty achy too so bath was a bit pointless!
Anyone else back to work tomorrow? 5 weeks left I can't wait to finish.

pinkapples · 02/04/2013 10:25

Just back from the doctors with a prescription for cyclizine hopefully will get me eating again and stop me being sick 3D scan this afternoon too so will check baby's ok then back to doctors tomorrow for a check Grin fingers crossed it sorts it

Littlemissexpecting · 02/04/2013 10:33

Pink just be careful driving on cyclizine they made me very sleepy!
Good luck with scan. We went for ours last week but baby hiding his face so need to go back next week.
3 hours of work done and I could cry. I'm so stressed and have no motivation left.

pinkapples · 02/04/2013 10:43

Thanks littlemiss will keep an eye on the sleepiness awww will be nice for you to see baby twice tho won't it extra reassurance Grin

Olimoss · 02/04/2013 12:01

Hope everyone has ok weeks at work. Am currently in the middle of Day 1 on 2 days interviewing people - 9 interviews each day.

Bloody relentless and doesn't help when baby keeps kicking me, visibly, and whilst trying to keep all professional-faced I jump out of my chair.

Stay well!
