I'm on hold this week, but packing boxes for moving. I just labelled a box 'box of crap'... Sometimes there is no other way of defining loads of bits of things!!!

Sunbeam18 · 02/04/2013 12:55

Hols not hold!

pinkbear82 · 02/04/2013 12:58

oli that did make me giggle, just a tiny bit!

Had a docs appt today (which I could have sworn I made for tomorrow to tie in with midwife - just as well they text to remind me!) and while I was down there thought I'd better book in for my whooping cough jab as keep forgetting... so now I'm back on Friday as well. They'll be sick of the sight of me down the surgery soon.

Have managed to get washing out on the line today which I'm quite impressed with, feels like the nicer weather may be around the corner. More than anything I'm looking forward to being able to wear shoes that don't require tying or socks! not that my feet are a distant memory or anything Wink

forgetmenots · 02/04/2013 13:15

thanks for the whooping cough jab reminder pinkbear! Will get on to that this afternoon!

I know how you feel Oli, baby has been keeping my colleagues very entertained by 'performing' during serious meetings! Really need to stop working now, fine physically but my head is not in it at all. Only a few weeks left!

pinkbear82 · 02/04/2013 13:15

lol sunbeam I guess packing for moving is a bit like being on hold!! And I bet that box is the last to be unpacked Wink I still have a couple of bits n Bob's boxes untouched.

MrsBri · 02/04/2013 13:44

Pink, I hope the tablets work for you.

Oli, Baby B does that loads during training sessions. Sadly it is normally only me watching at the time :-/ Brightens up the terribly dull training sessions though.

Forget, my brain isn't in it either. Seriously going to struggle going back tomorrow after 6 days off. Thank god I've only got 5 and a bit weeks to go. And hopefully somebody will start to take my work off me soon.

Sunbeam (and forget) good luck with the moving. I couldn't imagine doing it now...it was bad enough at 22 weeks!

I've got loads of washing outside and have had at every opportunity since moving here. Loads of sheets and blankets for baby to hang out now!

Still ages til I can fit my whooping cough jab in. Sigh.

Just got my antenatal breast feeding appointment through for a workshop. All very real now!

learnermummy · 02/04/2013 13:59

Hi all,
Had my whooping cough jab this morning and midwife apt & all looking good. Baby seems firmly head down so that's good.
Getting slowly sorted here, retrieving stuff I've lent to other people and have bought a few new girly bits Smile. Next thing to sort is probably the birthing pool, although they're not doing the home visit to officially approve it til 36 weeks. Might also have had a breakthrough with her name, but think I'll keep that to myself.

Sunbeam18 · 02/04/2013 15:27

Are you having a home birth, learner?
When should the baby's head be down? My baby was feet down at my 28-week appt last week.

learnermummy · 02/04/2013 15:34

Hi Sunbeam, yes hopefully - last one was at home and was great. Different home this time and different midwives but hope to repeat the experience to some extent at least! DH insisting on a lined pool this time though - think he still has nightmares about emptying the last time Shock!
Think baby has ages still to turn round, don't worry. Know someone whose baby turned on it's own a few days before due date - she said it was the most peculiar sensation!

MrsBri · 02/04/2013 15:38

Sunbeam, I think they usually turn by early 30 something weeks, though some turn later than that.

We aren't even feet down. We are feet everywhere! Baby is transverse, not breech, for us. He keeps trying head down, then changing his mind! Father's child. :-/

SunnyL · 02/04/2013 15:52

Arg! I have a niggly sore back muscle pain that is coming on when I've been sitting at my desk too long. Weirdly feels like an intercostal muscle which really shouldn't give me jip just for sitting down. Spending the afternoon standing at my desk which really isn't the most productive way to write a research paper. May have to resort to working from home in the afternoons if this continues as I've got a taller bunker at home that I can comfortably stand at to work.

Sarah2506 · 02/04/2013 15:55

Hi All, back from Lake District and just about over my meltdown. Thank you all for being so sweet:-) The restaurant owner of the place we were in gave me a slab of brownie to cheer me up and that just made me cry even more! I just couldn't sleep for several days and ended up in such a state. It does worry me for when the baby comes. I have never been able to sleep very well and certainly never been able to fall asleep on demand as it were, even when absolutely done in. As soon as home it lifted and back in my own bed I was fine, and slept through. Still very tired but getting better. I think I was suffering quite badly from going from the best physical state of my life seven months ago to now being fat and slow and heavy, whilst my mind hadn't quite caught up with this new reality! Six weeks left at work and like a lot of you I feel fine physically but my mind isn't in it. We have to charge 6 hours a day and I'm struggling to knock up four! xx

pinkapples · 02/04/2013 16:07

Tablets seem to be doing ok have kept down 2slices of toast and some crackers which is good and fancied an ice lolly in my way back from scan so hubby picked one up for me hehe good old fashioned rocket

3D scan was good Grin baby is definitely a girly woohoo! She had her hands in front of her face for most of it I was rolling around on the bed like a right muppet! Heads down (probably why I've had rib pain as she's kicking me in them) and measuring right on Grin got some good scan pictures once her hands moved slightly she looked so cute if a little hungry (she went from having her hand over her face to sucking on her forearm) probably as I haven't eaten in 5 days she's starting to feel it but I'm just glad she's alright as long as I'm the only one feeling crap I don't mind ahhhhh next time I see her shell be out!

learnermummy · 02/04/2013 16:07

Hi Sarah, glad things are better now you're home. The hypnobirthing cd (rainbow relaxation) is really great for getting you off to sleep if you're struggling.
Am a bit Shock at you having to charge 6 hours a day - I'm struggling to knock up 1 today! My billing is shocking - luckily my boss doesn't pay that much attention! That said, he's off skiing this week and has left me in charge and typically, I have pc issues and haven't been able to log on all day! Grrr.

pinkbear82 · 02/04/2013 17:06

I'm still a little Confused about all that is left to do and aware that time is ticking past very quickly.... Not sure it's a great help but DP and I have just picked up our family car. I don't drive, but had been learning in a little corsa, which we sold a few weeks ago and had been on the look out for an estate (dog and buggy) and 5 door. Found what we hope will be an ok one and DP just asking it round to our mate who is a mechanic so fingers crossed!! Can at least now bring bubs home in a non squishy car!

Looked at maternity and breast pads in boots today, got scared and looked at cute toys instead. Brought nothing. I'll be contracting and still buying at this rate!!

learnermummy · 02/04/2013 17:16

Glad you enjoyed the scan pinkapples, our little girl had hands and/or feet in front of her face for most of it, and when she didn't she looked a bit grumpy! My son thinks she was grumpy because she'd lost her hands/feet for a bit!

maisiebeem · 02/04/2013 17:24

Hello Ladies! I'm the same as you pinkbear SO MUCH TO DO! I really need to get round to ordering pushchair! Have decided to go for a Bugaboo Cameleon. Big Treat. I have no idea which car seat to go for though. Whats everyone else getting? I don't understand the difference between the Maxi-Cosi Pebble and the Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix - does anyone know? HELP!
Just over 4 Weeks left of work. Bring on May 3rd!
Mrsbri you planning on breast feeding? are most people? i'm hoping to be able to. are you going to get a steriliser anyway? so much to think about!

pinkapples · 02/04/2013 17:34

Maisie we are hoping to breast feed (that good old royal we) but bought the avent starter pack with bottles steriliser etc for when hubby is home with baby on his own he only works 4 days a week cheeky!

We have a Britax one not sure but it was part of the deal with our pram so got it as a bundle not a clue what any of the differences are tho or similarities for that matter

Awww learner my sister has just been round and she says she looks quite cute which is nice as my sister is a bit hard faced and would definitely tell me if she thought baby was ugly hehe so fingers crossed for a little cutey!

MrsBri · 02/04/2013 18:34

Yes, definitely hoping to breast feed, but have also bought bottles and a steriliser, just in case. And a few cartons of newborn formula as emergency supplies!

And DH can get involved with bottles as I have a breast pump and some breast milk freezer bags :-)

I still feel very unprepared, even though we have loads of stuff! I'm not sure you can ever feel ready really though. It's as much psychological as it is physical!

forgetmenots · 02/04/2013 18:39

Same here MrsBri. Got an avent pump reduced from £115 to £45 an have picked up the rest as bargains. Midwife was very stern about nipple confusion for the first bit though so feeling a bit wobbly on it!

DontmindifIdo · 02/04/2013 18:44

Maisie, I breast fed DS and hope to with this one, although i had a mare at the start, he wouldn't latch until day 10. I had to pump so was glad I had bottles and sterliser already. (and pump! check the bottles you've bought fit the pump, far easier than faffing about decanting breast milk).

We also had DH give DS a bottle every night at 10:30pm, so I could go to bed at 8ish and sleep until DS's next feed around 3ish. Just meant I could function a bit more. Of course, midwives and health visitors thought this was the worst thing ever, the didn't like me doing a bit of both, they were happy with either bottle feeding or breast feeding, but most annoyed if you didn't fit into a nice neat box...

Oops...double post fail!!

learnermummy · 02/04/2013 18:47

Maisie, maxi-cosi car seats are great. There really is little difference between the pebble and the cabriofix. I had a cabriofix previously and lady in kiddicare told me it wouldn't be worth upgrading to the pebble. They're quite a bit cheaper than the pebble too. Both of these seats clip into the isofix base too.

Forget - where did you get the breast pump - what a bargain!

It's good to have a steriliser for the breast pump and dummies if you have them too. I've had both cold water and microwave in the past. Don't think an electric plug in steam one is worth it.

Littlemissexpecting · 02/04/2013 18:55

I got told to avoid bottle feeding/ expressing until 6 weeks to allow breast feeding to establish otherwise it can muck about with milk production but not sure how true that is.got breast feeding session this week at nct so we'll see.
My SiL is giving us a steriliser but I'm going to buy a breast pump too.
Was going to wait until lo arrived but not sure.
Found out today why I feel tired all the time. Mw called and I need iron tablets. Black poo here I come Hmm
Re car seats we looked at maxi cosi but the be safe iZi go is safer and works with the maxi cosi adapters so worth looking at.
