can't believe we will soon be in April! not been on for a while and just been catching up x x
we have a 4d scan booked tomorrow (that's if the snow doesn't stop us going!) just wondered if anyone else's has had one or having one x x

Hawkmoth · 23/03/2013 18:21

Anyone else got swollen legs yet? Is bloody awful. MW not overly worried about them as bp and urine ok, but I'm sure it's a bad sign. Not to mention the stretching and itching on my shins. Not looking forward to 12 more weeks of it, at least.... I actually swelled up MORE after DS.

Littlemissexpecting · 23/03/2013 18:22

Pink we are thinking of a weekend away in May, just can't decide where!!
Think I might need to get my over bump jeans out soon. Popped to garage earlier it was snowing so popped my coat on, and it no longer fastens! I want to start wearing my summery maternity clothes!!

Littlemissexpecting · 23/03/2013 18:24

Good luck with scan tomorrow how exciting!
Mrs Bri have a great time.
I've already told this baby he needs to be 6lb, nothing over 8 please, can't even imagine popping out a 10lb baby!

redwellybluewelly · 23/03/2013 18:33

Bigger babies are easier to birth as they come out with gravity according to many people I know. Or rather smaller babies can take a longer time to birth.

Big heads though. Sheesh.

My full day at work with three hours driving has just been nicely rounded off by discovering that a family member fed my dd something which will make her sick all night. Completely accidental but also avoidable. Joy.

AmIGoingMad · 23/03/2013 18:37

10lb?! Please no!!!

Have a lovely time at baby shower mrsbriSmile Glad the meeting went well with HR too. They're looking for a new head in my school so replacing me for a bit is understandably a lower priority! Trying to find my own cover at the moment to avoid the awful one we had last time. Looking promising so far and fingers are crossed!

Thanks for recommendation Rue- will definitely be going with them ready in hospital bag this time in case, those and lansinoh cream(DH had to go hunting for it and drop it bk after visiting hours last time bless him.

No swelling here so far and have fingers firmly crossed that it stays that way!

I've had quite a productive day trying to sort my clothes and room out. Did loads but it somehow looks just the same as when I started!

DontmindifIdo · 23/03/2013 18:38

Binky - topshop are pretty good on oxford street, and mamas and papas are there too. However, most of my new stuff has been internet ordered then you can normally return to stores even if that store doesn't do maternity range.

MrsBri - on the bright side, you can only be blamed for mistakes for the first few months, IME, a year off means that they can't keep blaming you when it all goes very wrong...

Oh and good luck with scan tomrw!

X post redwelly - I hope she gets better soon

DontmindifIdo · 23/03/2013 18:43

Pink - check you are allowed to use said hot tub! Most say no pregnant woman, check with midwife before you book.

I'm having none of it that big babies are easier to birth, you have to push them out! My friends who had the most damage and the longest recovery last time round all had v big babies.

got talking to a midwife friend who's on mat leave herself earlier in the week, think without meaning too, she's made my mind up I want a c section, I'd blocked a lot of it out but she's really brought the sheer terror and pain memories back. Was interesting talking to her about home births, seems the further you live away from the hospital, the earlier they call 999.

Why why why did we have football tickets for this weekend?! I wore leggings, jeans, walking boots and socks, vest, top, polo neck, shawl, football scarf, winter coat. And I still froze! Very glam in league 2- snow driving in towards us, shelter not doing its job. I wouldn't recommend it!

Pink - where is this place, I want to go!

Would like to recommend Baby Bay, such a lovely company to deal with and we LOVE the Babybay! Anyone else got one? Snow permitting we are off to get the final big bits tomorrow - microwave, tumble dryer, cot bed.

pinkapples · 23/03/2013 19:01

Hmm i am checking for a temperature controlled one that we can set just in case but I read they are fine after 16 weeks when spine is formed Grin

Haven't found anywhere yet there's a couple of places in forest of dean and Somerset but a bit pricey would quite like April sometime as don't want to go into labour away from home

My scan is on the second of April so excited you'll have to let us know how yours goes x

SunnyL · 23/03/2013 19:06

Arg this indigestion is causing havoc with my eating habits. I always seem to get it just before dinner so I'm eating later and later each evening.

We've got our last getaway before baby booked. We're off for a week on Barra in a couple of weeks time. Gutted i can't go kayaking but hopeful i can still cycle round the island. I'm told the home baking though at the airport cafe is worth the 5 hour ferry in itself.

Had to ask my mum and DHs mum how heavy we were after hearing about friends 10lb whopper. DH was 6lb4 which would be good. Unfortunately i was 8lb12 which is less preferable. Is it hereditary?

redwellybluewelly · 23/03/2013 19:16

You mightrbe having none of it but ive heard it said by many. FwIW the people I know with the most 'damage' after have pretty much all had 6-8lb babies. Its all subjective anyway and having had a second degree tear after a small baby and no sleep in 48hours I was still running the next day.

I don't recommend the running.

We've next got a scan at 34weeks, so 5 weeks to go. Can't remember the exact date though.

Having roast for dinner, lying in the bath watching baby wriggle while I try not to think about the night ahead.

We used Avent nipple shields, and also used a cold water steriliser. Can highly recommend it as its so useful for all baby things not just bottles and we still occasionally use the milton fluid now. V cheap.

forgetmenots · 23/03/2013 20:18

Lucky you Sunny, Barra is paradise :)

Binkybix · 23/03/2013 20:39

oooh good point on returning to normal shop...right, internet shopping it is tomorrow.

Made the mistake of looking at Blackberry tonight. Am an idiot and now not enjoying my lovely cosy night in any more. DH reading out possible baby names trying to soothe me..Araminta anyone?!!

I just can't think of the birth yet. One thing at a time!

Binkybix · 23/03/2013 20:40

ps where is Barra?

pinkbear82 · 23/03/2013 21:05

Evening all.

It sounds like you've all had a far more productive day than me. It was decided by dsc this morning today was to be a pj and film day!
Duvets on the sofa, films a plenty and lots of snuggles. Even DP and pets joined in.
Feel quite nicely recharged now - bath before bed and I think I'll be done.

Glad others are finding over the bump jeans soo comfy, I love mine. DP says they are to prevent any further babies being made especially with maternity bras as well..... I could live with that they are so amazing!

Redwelly hope it's not too bad a night for you. Or that you at least manage enough sleep on top of it all.

Jealous of all the talk of getting away. Would love to have even a weekend away but can't see it happening.

Right off for that bath - sleep well everyone

redwellybluewelly · 23/03/2013 21:15

Re maternity clothes - I have no shops at all that have a maternity range near me - its been JJMB all the way.

forgetmenots · 23/03/2013 21:20

Binky - Barra is in the most southern of the Outer Hebrides, it's stunning: www.guardian.co.uk/uk/gallery/2011/sep/05/barra-scotland-airport-on-beach

Hope the names are soothing you and not making your blood boil Grin

forgetmenots · 23/03/2013 21:20

Olimoss · 23/03/2013 22:22

Ciao everyone - weather-willing we fly out early tomorrow morning to Rome where, although not toasty, the weather shall seem so in comparison to the current British misery.

I literally cannot stop belching. I pity those near me on the plane. Also, what if the seatbelt won't fit?!?!

(re: scans we are booking a 32 week well being scan at the Foetal Medicine Centre - curiosity and peace of mind reasons...).

I shall drop in from Italy but till then everyone stay well and sleep deeply.

BURPPPPPPPP

See?!

SunnyL · 23/03/2013 22:58

Olimoss sounds like indigestion. Time to reach for the Gaviscon methinks.

Ok so who's idea was it to put The Time Travellers wife on telly? Just bawled my eyes out to it. Daft moo. Must go find the dog for a cuddle since DH is on night shift.

learnermummy · 24/03/2013 07:36

Hi all gosh what a lot to catch up on.
Want to add that bigger babies not necessarily more trouble - my DS1 only 7 pounds but back to back and ended up with long labour and third degree tear. Ds2 9 pounds 7oz born v easily and quickly at home, no stitches.
I was a fan of nursing tops, more the cross over type as less fabric to gather up iyswim. H&M v cheap for them though. Apron style covers also good though- the ones with boning in so you can see down. Think bebe au lait is a brand name of them, but much cheaper versions on eBay.
Off to christening today which should be nice. Hope roads aren't too bad.

DontmindifIdo · 24/03/2013 11:53

Sunny - I can beat that, I cried last night when a taxi driver won a trip to Vegas on Ant & Dec's programme.

Olimoss - I have seen some of the rather 'rubenesque' people getting on flights before now, don't worry, an otherwise normal sized woman with a baby bump will fit in the seatbelt!

I got no sleep last night, bump kicking, odd dreams, DS having nightmares, it was horrid. Thankfully have a day off tomorrow, although I have to take DS to nursery anyway. Might come back and sleep...

Just been to church, it was communion service, has anyone else found communion wine really sets of the indigestion?!? (That and kneeing down with a dodgy hip with half the church watching me and then trying to get back up in an elegant, respectful fashion without letting out any groaning sounds being tricky.)

Ooh, Barra and Rome both sound nice right now! We are camping near Ross on Wye next weekend so that will be a nice break. I hope it stops snowing before Friday - I love camping in the snow, but we've hired a car and I won't drive in it Confused.

Oli I have been burping constantly for the last 2 months! Along with the tickly cough and the farting, this baby is going to arrive with it's hands over it's ears!

I'm glad I'm seeing the midwife on Wednesday, the top of my bump feels as though I've pulled a muscle or torn something.
