Went to an important business meeting which could mean quite a lot of money to my company. Its very hard to concentrate though when someone is kicking you in the fanny from the inside the whole way through. Im sure i must have been pulling some cracking faces throughout.

On the music thing i havent been specifically playing music to bump but it did go mental at zumba last week during all the latin tunes. Guess i'm having a world traveller like me.

AmIGoingMad · 22/03/2013 07:09

Haha sunny- that must have been interesting!Grin

Good luck with counselling today Pinkbear.

Happy Friday everyone! I'm just getting ready for work but am feeling dog rough. New sickness policy is evil though so going to try but will have to come home if I don't start to feel better throughout the morning Hmm

MrsBri · 22/03/2013 07:12

Baby B has been hit and miss when I've played music into my bump through headphones. Though as I'm not too sure which end is which, I could be playing music to his arse!

May try again this weekend. :-)

Thankfully, Sunny, Baby B has turned so I no longer get kicked in my fanjo! I just get head butter in the side as he seemingly attempts to make an escape through my right side. Painful.

As is his habit of wriggling hard into whichever side I'm laying on in bed.

Awkward buggers, aren't they? Very much loved awkward buggers, mind :-)

I've not even considered nursing tops yet. Head in sand much?! I've got ages to go...maybe I'll just wear my nursing nightwear permanently!

MrsBri · 22/03/2013 07:19

AmI, sickness due to pregnancy isn't allowed to count towards your sickness record, so don't go in if you're rough.

And good luck today, pink. Hopefully you may open up more easily to someone who's impartial.

And it was butted, not butter, below!

redwellybluewelly · 22/03/2013 08:38

Will come back later and post my cheap and cheerful alternative to nursing tops.

Fairly predictably we all got up very late dur to being up between 3-5am and an hour later I'm just finishing breakfast.

Mawgatron · 22/03/2013 09:36

Morning all. Thanks for the reminder about nursing tops, will add that to my to do list.
Still off sick. Prob could have dragged myself in but just thought its not worth it. Better to recover properly and go in Monday I reckon.

Baby is also kicking loads when I'm lying down now. It's quite a relief as I didn't feel much for ages because of an anterior placenta. Was starting to get a little worried! I'm sure he will be driving me potty soon enough though.

DontmindifIdo · 22/03/2013 13:00

Mawgatron - to be honest with nursing tops last time, I found a vest top and pulling down with boob over the top with a large pashmina to cover exposing myself worked fine, and often easier than overly complex nursing tops. Ones with lots of poppers etc will be hard work to do back up when you've got a baby in your arm and trying to cover back up fast...

DontmindifIdo · 22/03/2013 13:01

Other alternatives, vest top with stretchy straps with a t-shirt a size too big over the top (ideally same colour) and you have you own double layer top.

Afternoon :-)

Actually been allowed to leave early today due to snow as Merseyrail advised people not to travel with them after 4pm!

Though I'm on a train now and it isn't too bad...don't want to tempt fate though!

Pink, how was the counselling? Hope you're ok. xx

pinkbear82 · 22/03/2013 17:56

Great tips on nursing tops - had been wondering if I needed to get lots. Guess summer babies are quite handy too, less layers to battle thru!

Counselling went ok this morning. Leaves you feeling a bit raw. Haven't felt 100% since. The good thing is the lady said its usually a two step course and you usually finish the first part and they see about the second, but she said she's put me forward for the second as well, as she hopes that will fit with arrival of bubs and possibly when I may find I need extra help. So I guess we'll see how it all goes Smile

Hope everyone's got something to look forward to this weekend. We have the DSC and I'm voting for a film day tomorrow with duvets on the sofa. As long as we can get both girls to pick a film and if I hide love actually we may get to watch something different Wink

SunnyL · 22/03/2013 19:53

If anyone sews I've found a couple of useful looking patterns for nursing tops. DH is on night shift this weekend so was thinking of tackling one of the patterns with some cheap fabric I picked up in Sri Lanka. Canae be assed buying yet more clothes that will get limited use.

DontmindifIdo · 22/03/2013 20:12

Sunny - that was my thinking really, buying vest tops (ideally with either stretchy or adjustable straps so you can easily get the top down) and layering (or just using big pashminas to cover up any exposed boobs/belly) means I'll at least wear those anyway. Cardies with a vest top underneath you can pull down is also perfectly servicable. (go for somehting with a lot of fabric in it, like a boyfriend or waterfall cardie to make sure you can wrap it round you) Not the most 'summer friendly' idea, but hten after last summer and this 'spring' I'm not assuming it'll be all that hot...

redwellybluewelly · 22/03/2013 22:31

Ok. My tip is to buy stretchy vest tops from h and m as well as bump bands which are often found in topsgop or new look.

Lift vest top and bump band protects midriff. Discreet and cheap. I had a terrible feeder and found it was easier to rely on where I fed at least in the early days. So I knew I could grab lunch from boots and eat it in the feeding room in mothercare sitting in a comfy chair. Or that our Starbucks had cosy armchairs which faced away from the main cafe and friendly staff. By the time I stopped feeding dc1 at 26months I could do so fairly unobserved.

AmIGoingMad · 23/03/2013 07:30

Glad counselling went well Pinkbear. I have mine in April and have been kind of dreading it.

Great tips on feeding tops thanks! Last time around I didn't buy any at first and was glad I hadn't when bf ing didn't work out. I was devastated and one of the only silver linings was that I hadn't spent lots on tops to remind me that I hadn't been able to do it Hmm
I'm hoping that birth will be a little easier on my body this time and that it will play ball accordingly. Does anyone have nipple shield recommendations? Apparently mine (nipples not shields) were the talk of the midwife station last time Shock!

Binkybix · 23/03/2013 09:10

Hey all

Just checking in. So far I've only bought one maternity skirt for work, but think the time has come for more stuff. I was going to go today, but it's so cold. Does anyone know if Oxford Street shops actually have maternity ranges in? Have had real trouble elsewhere, even Westfield.

I've not thought about anything at all planning wise yet. Will get organised soon for sure. Maybe.

Hope that all ladies and doing ok.

Mrs bri - how did it go with HR?

MrsBri · 23/03/2013 09:15

I think other people have said there still isn't much choice on Oxford Street, Binky. The internet is almost the only place with any choice :-/

HR meeting was positive. I'd already decided I wasn't going to be forced out early by bitches. They are going to take a more proactive role with them too.

Have also said there needs to be a handover plan in place for me, which there wasn't, which will gradually reduce my workload, so I feel less stressed. So it is coming together now. Though the person who is taking over my work is a lazy cow who doesn't do stuff properly, so it could be fun. Not my problem though!

RueDeWakening · 23/03/2013 09:16

AmI I've used the avent shields before (both times) and found them pretty good - I hated the boots ones, the raised part wasn't big enough and pinched me, and the flat bit against your skin was massive and got in LO's way. Not tried any others. Having said that, with dd when the MW said I should try them (day 3, 9lb baby & no milk in yet - poor love was starving and ate me alive!) she dispatched DH to buy them and in the meantime actually just stuck a bottle teat over my boob - which worked ShockGrin

MrsBri · 23/03/2013 09:21

Sorry, got distracted and pressed send...how are you feeling now, Binky?

Littlemissexpecting · 23/03/2013 09:28

Binky apart from a tiny mothercare I felt that Oxford street was rubbish. The Internet is your friend I'm afraid. Next has a sale on this wkend and I think mamas and papas does too.

DontmindifIdo · 23/03/2013 09:54

Just checked my e-mails, seems Kiddicare have a sale on pushchairs for the next 48 hours, up to 60% off - worth looking to see if they've got one you had your eye on in the sale...

Binkybix · 23/03/2013 12:18

Hi

Glad it went so well Mrs Bri.

I made the decision to just leave early, so not too long to go now. Work is still very busy and being put under pressure to do stuff even though people know I'm leaving, but as you say, not my problem once I'm gone! Even though people will judge the poor management of workload on me, but trying not to think of that yet.

Still not feeling great, but getting there hopefully.

I hate internet shopping. All the hassle of trying stuff on sending it back etc. Le sigh. At least it's good weather for staying in. Although think a few shops in Batttersea where I could get some jeans perhaps.

MrsBri · 23/03/2013 13:29

I know what you mean, Binky, but it appears that there's not much option. New Look tends to have a little bit of maternity wear in store, but not huge amounts.

What's your finishing date? So jealous of anybody leaving really early, though I'm finishing at 34 weeks thanks to annual leave to use up. Still feels forever away though! :-/

And I have no doubt that I'll be blamed for the bitches' shortcomings once I've left and all manner of other things as well. But I'm not going back into that team, so sod them! They'll soon suffer without my brains to pick. :-)

SunnyL · 23/03/2013 16:03

After 3 crazy as back at work I am doing a rather good impression of a slug today. I've barely made it up from the horizontal position on the sofa other than a short dog walk (couldn't ignore her anymore - I'd had toys piled high on my belly for about 2 hours leading up to it).

Anyway I'm in shock - very good friend had a baby on Friday night. It was 10 pounds. How the feck do you push something out that is that big???

MrsBri · 23/03/2013 17:00

Ouch, 10lbs sounds painful :-/

Enjoy the sofa, Sunny, sounds like you need / deserve it.

Baby B has been entertaining us today. What with my belly moving all over the place, baby also smacked DH hard in the face while he was talking into my belly. Really very amusing :-)

I'm now on the way to my friend's baby shower for the evening. Nice to get out, though it took all my motivation to escape the house!

pinkapples · 23/03/2013 17:45

Aww sunny I've just got back in from taking the dogs to the forest for a walk as like you I'd had a lovely collection of rope toys and balls steadily taking over my sofa space...

In other news bought some new look over bump jeans today which are so so so much more comfortable than the under the bump ones also got a cosy maternity hoodie Grin

Had my nails done twice today once at 9am this morning full new set of acrylics as my others were falling off all over the place an hour later decided I hated cried to my husband at how I hated them and then went back and asked her to change them... She must have hated me but to be fair they weren't what is asked for think the crying was more about why the hell I'd walked out the first time clearly not liking them bless her she took them all off ad started again and didn't even charge me GrinGrin bargain (although utter waste of my life)

Now sitting with hubby for a salad and we have decided to have a wetherspoons breakfast in the morning yummy...

Anyone else thinking of a getaway before baby shows up? We're thinking log cabin with its own sunken heat pool hmmm lush!
