Would have been funnier if my Dad had said it Wink

MarieKL · 19/03/2013 22:11

Tom you made me smile too, thank you.

Phie I hope things seem better in the morning. Sometimes all the small things just become too much and I honestly don't think this yucky weather is helping.

Bigbelly really feel for you too. I hope things get better at the school. Must help to know that both DCs are happy there though.

Iclaudis good luck for parents evening tomorrow. That feeling of being just about to cry is awlful isn't. I had to dash out of DCs Nursery on Monday before I burst into tears, as I handed in our notice because he's starting a preschool attached to a primary school in April, but on the way in he was pointing at all the staff and saying 'look there's my friend'! I wouldn't mind but for the last year he's cried when I've left him, but the last 3 weeks he's happily waived me goodbye! I just hope we're doing the right thing by moving him.

Dinky I love the panda bear story. Glad you're feeling better

Shiv I didn't feel any movements with DS until between 24-25 weeks so hopefully it won't be long now before little bean starts jumping.

Paolocee Glad your cat is okay, and I hope the House renovations don't go on too long.

Abzs I hope you manage to find somewhere for your holiday. It must seem really strange finishing work and knowing that you won't be going back.

Sorry not to reply to everyone else. Feeling really tired so off to make a hot milky drink and then go to bed. (Oh for a class of wine and a night of dancing!) Hope all those who are ill or have ill DC feel better soon.

Hi ladies

Ellie - good news in the SW front. Common sense wins!

Emblosion - congrats on team blue Smile

Phie & Big Belly & Iclaudius - everything can get so frustrating at times - I never know how much to put down to hormones & how much is 'real', which somehow makes it worse! Hope you're getting rest, and never keep it in - let it all out Grin

Palocee - pleased the cat's ok!!!

Just catching up really. Thanks for the reassurance of my going back to work at 6 wks - I'm getting my head around it now, & you're all completely right about it being a great time for DH. We've had a chat, & he's agreed to watch less Homes under the Hammer do more activities with DD to get in the swing of things if he'll be looking after 2, & I need to leave a bit of mess for longer before nagging Hmm
Thanks Thanks

lizincornwall · 19/03/2013 22:38

Oh, & the nursery decoration ideas sound fab btw!

iclaudius · 19/03/2013 23:56

bigbelly I agree with everything guavas said. Guided reading is often neglected but so much learning happens in it and the children love that one on one time with the teacher. So jealous of a class size of 18! I have just gone down to 29. The lowest I've ever had was 26 in year six and it was amazing how much more you could do and how much more focus you could give the chn.

I'm not in school today as I went for my 25 week GP check up yesterday and he didn't like the trace of glucose in my pee and the fact a fingerprick test was low at 2.9 so he's sent me off for a fasting blood test. Am bloody starving and already lightheaded so this'll be fun. I'll be chugging down that glucose drink like it's manna!

I hope everyone is well and not too many Kleenex are needed. I tried telling my DP I was weeping because I was hormonal the other day (when someone stole a hubcap off my new car) and he said I have always been a weeper. And dang it, it's true - I bulb at everything anyway!

Runswithsquirrels · 20/03/2013 07:49

And good luck iclaudius!

MightBeMad · 20/03/2013 08:36

Good luck iclaudius and runs!

dinkystinky · 20/03/2013 09:08

Hope all is ok Runs and you have some good reading material with you.and have got your appointment soon.

Abzs · 20/03/2013 09:55

Good Luck today iclaudius Also re granny of the thread, I'm sure someone said they're 46 so you may have to fight for that title!

MarieKL It was a bit strange to actually say to my manager that I'm not going back. However, he knows what I get paid and what the going rate for childcare is round here as his DW is a CM - so he understands that it doesn't add up financially, even if he doesn't want me to go (which is nice Smile ).

dinkystinky · 20/03/2013 10:13

Abzs - half term around our area is last week of May - hopefully you'll find somewhere perfect for your holiday. And v envious of you finishing up so early - will give you plenty of time to chill before the baby arrives.

Good luck iclaudius Smile

elliejjtiny · 20/03/2013 11:03

Good luck for your scan iclaudius. My granny had a perfectly healthy baby when she was 43 and I know quite a few others who have as well.

runs good luck for the GTT today. I've got the midwife on friday and I'm worried I'll have sugar in my wee with all the honey and lemon I've been drinking.

Can't remember who said what so I'll bold the subject instead of the posters name.

re colds yep, I'm missing the proper drugs too. really want some lemsip, cough medicine and a decongestant spray. DH's helpful advice was to fill the sink and bath with hot water and steam the snot out, oh and I might as well clean the bathroom at the same time!

re weeping I think there is a random hormone surge at around this time. I always have a crying phase at around 25 weeks and then a "how am I going to cope with a/another baby" panic at around 30 weeks.

The school secretary asked me if I was pregnant this morning. Really pleased as I thought I looked more fat than pregnant. She also didn't say anything negative about the cleft lip which was good, I'm finding a lot of people say quite negative things and I have to keep reminding myself that it's not that bad.

iclaudius · 20/03/2013 11:21

Ellie I had one at 44 !!

Persuasion · 20/03/2013 11:23

Gosh we can talk, I can barely keep up. And baby brain means I can't remember who said what!

Good luck to those with scans/tests today. My GTT is next thursday, I'm really not looking forward to it.

In regards to hormones I think I've always been quite weepy, but it does seem a bit worse at the moment. Although thankfully it doesn't seem a problem at work, mostly when I'm watching TV!

I don't know if the tights conversation is ongoing, but I'm still wearing my 'normal' tights with no problem, even though all of my pre-pregnancy trousers are all now out of use. The tights just seem to be stretching over the bump still. I think I'll stick with them as long as possible.

BB01 · 20/03/2013 13:09

Good luck iClaudius and Runs and anybody I've left out!

Just wanted to share my best purchase yet, maternity-clothes wise. I struggle to find jeans that fit me well and that I find comfy at the best of times let alone with pregnant. Have bought and returned numerous pairs and was on verge of giving up when I came across these beauties

www.mothercare.com/Blooming-Marvellous-Maternity-Jegging/LX2308,default,pd.html#q=jeggings

They actually fit me, don't fall down (well maybe a teeeensy bit over several hours), and are the comfiest jeggings I've ever found apart from the leggingsy ones and were quite reasonable (£20). I'm so relieved as it'll open up a whole new world of clothes for me to wear (ones that I already have). Had been wearing solely dresses with leggings but have lots of nice tops just sat in my wardrobe that I'd not been able to wear. Because they're very jeansy, and not leggingy, you can really wear them with anything.

Just wanted to share on the off chance anybody with the same shape and size as me (which is probably unlikely as I seem so oddly proportioned!!) is struggling to find jeans that fit and hasn't considered these!

MightBeMad · 20/03/2013 14:15

Thanks bb01 I'll give them a try (really struggling for jeans here too!!

BB01 · 20/03/2013 14:19

Sorry if somebody else already spotted this first (still behind on this thread!)

BB01 · 20/03/2013 14:19

sorry, my italics clearly didn't work!

dinkystinky · 20/03/2013 16:02

Well I guess we do talk alot BB01! Glad you've found some mat jeggings which suit you perfectly.

Well, it seems they didn't want to do the GTT in full, I have to go back for that in Easter. The wait was rather painless and the ancient looking hospital ran quickly. I hate needles and didn't even feel it going in. I don't know if blood nurses are getting better or my arm is just immune to the sensation now!

I hope everyone else is having a good day!

photographerlady · 20/03/2013 18:27

Hi all. I have been off sick the last two days as I am foolish and managed to hurt my back at the weekend. I had two slip discs last year so my back still has silly moments if I do something like leaning forward filling out paperwork. So spent the last two days walking about the house in pain, avoiding sitting with a swollen back. And since the front is all round now I feel like a whale. My clothing not fitting at all anymore doesn't help :p
