Oooh, have fun in Paris ama - I could feel quite jealous!

ellie green gunk is definitely worse, but no gunk is good! Especially with asthma and pregnancy, sounds like your body needs a bit of extra help.

shelley my GTT is tomorrow, I'm oping it's normal because we have a gorgeous dark thorntons egg which I've been looking forward to for weeks. I hope your cold is better soon, but good news that baby is ok in there, just being quiet!

I have found I wake up once or twice every night no to pee. Last night it was at 3am, and chip got what I think were hiccups after, so I was kept awake for a while by that, so I'm really not feeling like work today.

MightBeMad · 27/03/2013 08:47

Argh!! Just lost massive post!!! No time to rewrite so I'll just say good morning!!

23+1

dinkystinky · 27/03/2013 09:38

Sorry you had a scare Shelley but glad the little bean is ok and also glad the osteopath is really helping sort your back out - must be such a huge relief. Hope the coughs and colds pass soon.

Persuasion - ah, the night time loo trips! In my last two pregnancies I found banning myself from drinks for a couple of hours before I went to bed helped reduce those - but nothing you can do to stop the baby shuffling around/having hiccups etc while you're trying to catch some much needed sleep.

GTT on the Tuesday after Easter so I too will be ensuring I dont overdose on chocolate.

I picked up a sling this morning, one called a Victoria Slinglady Stretchy, which is just like a moby wrap apparently but half the price. Worth a go. I am about to head off to my 24 week appointment with the midwife, exciting how quickly its all going now.

shelley72 I always wondered the rules on no movement, I mean some days I do get none (mainly on very busy days though).

MightBeMad awww lost posts :(

elliejjtiny sorry that coughing is getting to you, hope it starts to get better soon. Is this a bug or just an ongoing issue?

AmaDablam have a lovely time in paris!

MrsMillions · 27/03/2013 10:09

I have my 24wk mw appointment today too Photographer. Working from home in the meantime and feeling a bit stuffy, hope it's just the highly-necessary-cos-it's-so-cold heating and not a sign I'm getting a cold, really feel for those of you suffering that way.

Very jealous of Ama's Paris trip, I've had a couple of stints living there and not been back since moving home from the second one in 2008.

Evil NHS trusts making so many of you have GTTs right after Easter!

iclaudius · 27/03/2013 10:42

So many gtt tests will I get one??

AMA my daughter lives in Paris -can you go and spy on her for me please Wink have a lovely time !!

MightBeMad · 27/03/2013 11:17

I was wondering the same thing Iclaudius (about the GTT not your daughter Smile ) How come so many of you are having them, is it due to big previous babies?

iclaudius · 27/03/2013 11:20

My last one was actually induced two weeks early as big for dates but no ones mentioned it!

dinkystinky · 27/03/2013 11:22

It seems to be standard in the 2 London hospitals I have been to Mightbemad - so much so the gtt is in the standard maternity appt timetable bumph they hand out at the start.

photographer I saw my midwife yesterday and she said that you should feel bubba at least 10 times a day at the moment. shelley sounds like a scary time but goes to show the 10 times a day rule doesn't work all the time!

No-one has mentioned GGT test to me, is it just if you have sugar in your urine? (Think that is a potential sign?) Or should it be routine?

I get up to pee at least twice a night and seem to be thirsty in the evening so not much I can do about it at least I can usually get back to sleep.

Was going to comment on someone else's post but I can't remember what it was Confused

Have almost cleared the junk out of 'nursery' this week so hoping my dad will come and paint it next week (might as well make use of him being a painter and decorator!) and done all those cleaning jobs that I usually can't be bothered with, so spending the rest of my week off chilling out.

Abzs · 27/03/2013 12:06

A morning of accomplishing things here. Well, two things. Carpet fitted and curtains hung in the future Small Person's room.

My midwife also mentioned looking for 10 sets of movements a day, and to have a cold drink or eat something sugary to provoke movement.

I'm really struggling to get comfy to sleep. Spent most of last night with aching legs and that 'don't where to put yourself' feeling. Also really thirsty in the evening.

dinkystinky · 27/03/2013 14:05

Sounds like you've had a v efficient morning Abzs.

Re aching legs - is it heavy feeling or aches in the hips/bum/pelvic area or is it cramps in your legs? If cramps in your legs, you can take mag phos supplements which will help alleviate those (I found this out in my second pregnancy after suffering leg cramps badly with my first pregnancy). If achy hips etc I find having my own double duvet which I wrap around and under me helps cushion them and make them less achy.

Appointment went well, belly the right size and heartbeat thumping away. My evil GTTs are the 20th of April. I'm tubby I was booked in straight away.

TotallyEasterEggFlipped · 27/03/2013 14:23

I often barely notice any movement during the day and have to wait until I'm lying in bed to feel anything. For some reason today the baby is really wriggly. It's great. Smile

shelley72 · 27/03/2013 17:18

back from a freezing day at the farm so just catching up again. im not sure about the movement 'rules' i do seem to remember count the kicks and 10 movements in a day from before. placenta is anterior here (as it was in first pg too) but i go by the rule that if my children are quiet it generally means they are getting into mischief Grin. i tend not to worry if i dont feel much for 24 hours or so especially if ive been busy, but 2 days was getting a bit worrying - especially as i had tried all the usual tricks to get baby to move. the midwives i saw were lovely and i think they were having a quiet day so we had a good chat about children, Csections and midwifery courses!!!

i am having a GTT this time round as i have a family history of diabetes - thats the only reason as far as i know. i didnt have one last time so maybe they are getting a bit more keen on testing i dont know. i hope its ok as since first pg i have had a real thing for cake - an essential foodstuff for pregnant and BF mothers i'm sure you would agree Smile

am cold, achey and a night on the sofa awaits - we too are having carpets fitted in the morning and so our room has to be cleared. its been a mammoth task apparently i have too many clothes but by the end of this long weekend we may just about have a decorated bedroom with some furniture. then we just need to work out where the moses basket will go...

yay for all the good appointments and wriggly babies! can't believe how quickly the time is going!

Persuasion · 27/03/2013 17:21

I've got a GTT because my dad is diabetic, I think you also get offered one if BMI over 30 but I may be wrong, and not sure if there are other reasons.

In terms of night time peeing, I'm so thirsty in the evenings and overnight I don't think I can do much about it. I've also noticed achey hips but careful pillow positioning seems to help.

trustissues75 · 27/03/2013 17:22

Hello all..trying to catch up again...

re the movements...I can still from time to time go a whole day with feeling nothing and then nugget wakes up in the evening...I listen to her heart regularly and it always sounds good, even, strong...not tht I think she's actually asleep all day, I just think that she manages to ide away from my abdominals and pelvic floor so I can't realy feel her. The other night I was listening to her and I could tell she was moving because of what I could hear but I couldn't feel a single thing...

It's so worrying at times isn't it?

24+6

elliejjtiny · 27/03/2013 17:31

I've got my GTT on 6th April. Dreading it as I'm a nightmare to get blood from and still got morning sickness which will no doubt get worse with the fasting. As my bloods have to be done by an anaesthetist someone has decided that I should have my 28 week bloods and my platelets rechecked at the same time which will be fun (not). I get one because my bmi is over 30 and because my grandad had type 2 diabetes.

After a night of coughing and throwing up every hour I took myself off to the dr surgery today and saw the asthma nurse. She said definately no chest infection and she said she wanted me on the minimum meds for my asthma because of Severus (finally given baby a nickname) but she has increased my dose on the brown inhaler and told me to rest which will be a challenge with 3 DC's and so much tidying/sorting to do before tomorrow so that our bedroom furniture can be moved out of the bedroom tomorrow evening and our bedroom floor can be redone on friday/saturday. Really hope I get some sleep tonight.

Just thought I'd add in case someone hasn't seen the warnings on facebook that there is a baby featured on one born every minute tonight who dies Sad. I don't think I could cope with watching that although I really admire the parents for allowing their experience to be filmed and broadcasted.

Abzs · 27/03/2013 18:07

dinky Both aches and cramps actually. Have been trying various pillows, including coiling myself around a long bolster, but last night nothing helped. Will look into mag phos; I wonder if that's what's in DH's anti-cramp electrolyte sports drink powder?

MrsMillions · 27/03/2013 18:37

24 week appointment went fine, heart beat nice and strong and she found it right away - had taken quite a hunt at my 16 week.

Think we might nip to Homebase tonight, Dulux paint is on 3for2 and we have an extra nectar points voucher, so can make sure DH is stocked up before he carries on with the painting on Sunday.

I had seen a warning on Facebook about OBEM but unfortunately the "friend" concerned didn't word it very well, being very blunt right in the middle of my newsfeed it probably upset me more than watching the programme without knowing. I Sky+ it anyway as DH won't watch so will see how I feel at the weekend.

MrsMillions · 27/03/2013 18:38

Ellie your wording on the OBEM warning was much better, BTW.

bigbelly4 · 27/03/2013 18:38

Evening re GTT - I had one in my first pregnancy as wee tested pos for sugars, but all ok in end. Didnt get tested with subsequent pregnacies and havent been offered one this time. From what I have read, I think you only get offered one if bmi is high/family history etc. Diabetes and gestational diabetes are oneof those conditions that is best treated as early as possible.

Re asthma, for my last pregnancy and this one I am on a purple (seratide, I think) that prevents and has a small dose of reliever in it. Only need twopuffs atnight.

Re movements, thankfully feeling loads and beggining to get intoa pattern.

Re pain, its my ribs that are killing me! Can really feel them expanding and belly is really bloated by eveningtime

Had a bit of a frightening thought today - as my other 3 were 2/3 weeks early, I may have a baby in 13 weeks time!

25 weeks today!

photographerlady · 27/03/2013 18:58

thanks for the info on GTT. I am large so that why they are watching me like a hawk or well a tubby penguin. I am hoping to avoid the diabetes, mainly because I want a waterbirth. I am big but also nearly 6 foot so hope the midwives will let me go through with my birthing plan. I am dreading and hoping to avoid an assisted birth at all costs.

TotallyEasterEggFlipped · 27/03/2013 19:54

Evening everybody!

I mentioned to a couple of the nurses at work today that I was pregnant (during a random boob chat - apparently its national cleavage day/week or something) and they said they'd no idea! It's probably just the very unflattering scrub top, but I'm torn between wanting an obvious bump and feeling it's nice that it's not quite as obvious as I thought. (no pleasing some people Smile)

I'm off to view a house in the town we want to move to in the morning. It looks a bit small on the interweb, but going to have a look anyway because there doesn't seem to be much that comes up to rent around there.

I don't work Thursdays, so my long Easter weekend has already started Grin. Nothing too exciting planned. Off to visit my parents, a trip to the farmers market (weather permitting!) and a 3rd birthday party on Monday. Oh, and lots of hot cross buns and Easter eggs, probably.
Hopefully I'll get a run in too.

Re: night time peeing. I was getting up several times a night, but I've been drinking much less and eating more in the evenings so I now sleep through until 3 or 4 and wake up thirsty. I keep a drink by the bed. By 6:30 I'm bursting and really thirsty again, but it's time to get up anyway. It hasn't stopped me waking in the night, but I'm definitely getting better sleep and it's great to not gave to get out if bed when it's so cold.

Not sure when my next midwife appointment should be. I'll have to check. 24 weeks tomorrow, so going to have a little viability dance in the morning. Smile

bigbelly4 · 27/03/2013 20:03

I cant see how diabetes would stop a waterbirth, it would seem logical to have one - you can still be monitored in water. But I have no medical knowledge just seems a really good way to keep stress and pain levels down which would help with a bigger baby?!?

Im hoping for a waterbirth too.

Anyway, I was told my first was going to be a 10 pounder at a 37 week scan and he was 6lb14 at birth!

BMI gets on my nerves anyway, even my GP says theydont take build etc into account.
