Not been able to catch up properly (too tired boo!!!)
but manoodle- I usually find it easy to decide on things and currently can't decide what to eat or what time to go out to do something. I'm hideously useless :(
Pinklady- I also got redated by a week... although it would be possible with dtd (christmas as opposed to new year), my cycle is pretty short and regular. Having said that, I got a BFN the day I was due on, and didn't get my bfp until the last day of my period which didn't really appear!

Too tired to watch one born (husband enjoys it too), dying my hair still (oooh even got it trimmed today!)

Staying in a hotel in Brighton tonight- still feeling shite, but I'll live!!

ATouchOfStuffing · 20/03/2013 22:04

Sorry to hijack your lovely group, hope you don't mind me dropping by to say Hi! I've been online shopping and saw this bargain and had to share it (all of my friend's have had their babies now!) I noticed you will be due in Sept and likely to be, erm, a little larger in summer, so here's a couple of links if anyone is getting maternity clothes! Good luck all of you :)

Picked up my (highly attractive) maternity jeans from debs today....next question is whether I can pluck up the courage to wear them as one of my evening outfits on work conference next week....even with a nice blouse I'm concerned that the bump band is too much to stomach this early! I've got 4 nights away, 1 fancy dress, 1 black tie (no blue what to wear for that!!).

This is going to take some serious planning....

JammyTummy · 21/03/2013 08:54

I was being given unwanted advice last night. BIL, upon hearing that we are going to find out the sex: oh! You're finding out are you?! Oh... You really shouldn't do that. 85% of women who find out get PND!

Eh... Ok... Now you made me feel really good. What is honestly up with people?!?

badguider · 21/03/2013 09:00

surely that's absolute bollocks jammy? I don't believe that stat for a moment. Most people find out, and 85% of most people would mean a LOT of pnd!

I've got some next maternity jeans coming today - i've gone for a small band rather than the big up and over one, hoping i can wear them straight away... so far i can't wear the chinos i've bought yet.

dreading tomorrow when i've got to travel to london and back by train (that's about 9hrs return) for a meeting :(

badguider · 21/03/2013 09:04

oh, did anybody see OBEM last night? I didn't watch it all and i really really don't want to sound mean but i was shocked by the stretch marks on the american woman! - she had them over her entire tummy above the bellybutton as well as below and they were really angry and red.... i'm scared now.... most full-term tummies i've seen have a few underneath and round the sides but not all over.

I got stretch marks on my hips as a teenager and hated them, they're almost invisible now and i've resigned me to getting some new ones but i really would hate it if my entire belly ended up like that lady's.

Peabody25 · 21/03/2013 09:37

Had scan on Tuesday finally! Went brilliantly, one wriggling baby sucking it's thumb! Also been moved on 5 days which is quite nice. Feeling far more human like this morning.

Not been sleeping well past couple of weeks. had one of the bachs liquid melt night capsule last night and slept like a log. Can't find anything on pack that says you cant take them, but anyone else tried them?

Manoodledo · 21/03/2013 10:05

badguider I was freaked out by the stretch marks too. I escaped it with DS1, then was really smug thinking i'd avoided them with DS2, only to discover right at the end that there were some under the bump I couldn't see. Grr. Haven't so far been rubbing anything on my bump, but will now after seeing that on OBEM, even though I'm sure I read that it's unclear whether it makes much difference. Mind you I was more freaked out by the shoulder dystocia. I had to leave the room. Horrendous.

Kittenkatzen · 21/03/2013 10:21

Congrats triplerock well done you! And hurrah for juniper being immune too. And congrats peabody on your scan - good news all round this morning!

jammy just to join the consensus that your BIL is talking bollocks - ignore! :o

fl0b0t I was in Brighton last night too at a concert....maybe we walked past each other :)

frogchops · 21/03/2013 11:07

I think neural has her scan today....she might be the last??

Creamtea1 · 21/03/2013 11:14

Morning all!

Just caught up -
OBEM - just can't watch it, and I've already done it twice!
Highlights - have mine done every couple months, no probs at all
Mat jeans - I have some next narrow band ones and the same from new look - haven't needed to wear yet but they are nice and comfy, just got my normal size
16 weeks today :) however I have now got our September thread official stinking cold, presume fact I had flu jab doesn't help with this. Have stocked up with paracetamol anyway.
In final news, weight gain has calmed down the last week, having a plateau which is good.

JammyTummy · 21/03/2013 11:58

I ordered a pair of jeans from Asos- they're the kind with the pocket panels. I thought that would probably do me for now cause I'm still wearing my normal jeans (just).

Re BIL, I am more than sure that it is indeed bollocks, but it's just one of those things (that we like to talk about on the September thread)- where do people get off weighing in with rubbish chat like that?! Why would you say that to someone?

fl0b0t · 21/03/2013 13:12

kitten if you saw a mad looking lady o getting a lift along the seafront on the back of a "big dummy" bicycle about half six... That was me! :)
The cold officially sucks, I'm a snotbucket.

My gave idiot comment so far is "well, I guessed you were going to tell us you were pregnant because last time you invited us to the pub you told us you were engaged". Which entirely makes me look like a self centered bitch and ignores the fact that we invited them to the pub, with everyone else every week for bloody years but they're antisocial gits and never came!

(oh and she's a sneaky gossipy cow who has been sniffing about and pumping my closer friends for info about why I was sick....)

Creamtea1 · 21/03/2013 16:25

Home made jam and coconut sponge cake :)
Very easy to make and very nice

Kittenkatzen · 21/03/2013 16:31

Ahhh I wasn't on the seafront until half hour or so after that fl0b0t Smile

creamtea GIVE ME CAKE!!!!! Please Grin

Kittenkatzen · 21/03/2013 16:32

Actually creamtea in all seriousness is that a recipe you'd be willing to share? I was planning on baking this weekend and that sounds divine!

JoCheshire10 · 21/03/2013 17:16

I'm 13 weeks and have a bump but feel like I'm the only one? This is my first baby and someone at work actually said to me today 'you are massive...' What do you say to that?!

I've bought some maternity jeggings from mamas and papas which are really comfy and look nice by the way if anyone's looking for a good pair of bottoms Smile Quite big sizes though - I bought a size down

nerual · 21/03/2013 17:22

just had scan,all fine! phew....

JoCheshire10 · 21/03/2013 17:25

Glad it went well neural Smile

Creamtea1 · 21/03/2013 17:41

Oh ladies it is soooo nice...

Here you go:

Ingredients (makes 12 squares)

200g unsalted butter
175g caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 eggs
200g self raising flour

2 tbsps jam (I use strawberry)
4-5 tbsp desiccated coconut

What to do

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C and grease and line a 23cm square cake tin.
  2. Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla extract until they are pale.
  3. Gradually beat in the eggs, adding a tbsp of the flour with each egg.
  4. Fold in the rest of the flour and mix until it is well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin, spread it out and bake in the centre of the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cake is golden and springs back when pressed gently.
  6. Leave to cool for 5 minutes in the tin before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Spread the top of the cooled cake with jam, then cover with the desiccated coconut, pressing it down to make sure it sticks. If you prefer, you can cut the cake into squares before covering with the coconut, then you can dip the tops of the jam-covered cake into the coconut instead.
  8. Cut into squares and enjoy!
Kittenkatzen · 21/03/2013 18:01

Yum creamtea thanks for the recipe, I'm definitely giving that a go this weekend Smile

nerual well done on bringing up the rear with another healthy scan! So exciting that we're all on to the next stage now!

Haha jo there really is nothing you can say to comments like that is there? I've had one or two people at work tell me "well you don't look pregnant..." as if they think I'm on a wind up or something! So far I've just given them a disinterested "really?" and walked off. The funniest thing DH and I have noticed is that whenever we've told people together, they tend to congratulate me and then say "well done" to DH! Not just back-slapping blokey mates either - even MIL said it Confused

frogchops · 21/03/2013 18:02

Jo.... Ur not the only one, I'm 13+6 and have a very noticeable bump and have had it since 10/11 weeks. Someone was even shocked that I was going for a 12 wk scan and not 20 week! :-/

Readytosettle · 21/03/2013 18:14

I've got a pretty sizeable bump too....feels huge but I know I've still got a long way to go! Am now on 'loose dresses only' for work....a bit of a change from my sharp shifts so even tho it hides the bump a bit more, anyone who know's me can tell I'm trying to hide something. I'm not a 'baggy' kinda girl!

JammyTummy · 21/03/2013 18:41

Creamtea that sounds amazing! I was just on my way to round up the ingredients in the kitchen and have a baking night as DH is out somewhere, but discovered I have no butter. Hmmmphh... I was already picturing myself eating it!
