Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

That's such good news, Hooya :-) Bet you're so relieved.

And great news about the milk, Wing.

Hooya, sometimes I get kept awake at night if baby decides to Riverdance as I'm trying to get to sleep. Other times I must sleep through it, as I dream I'm being kicked!

And sometimes it's a bit ouchy, yes. Though I hate saying that. There's one particular thing that baby does, no idea what it is, but it feels like knuckles being dragged across my insides. That hurts.

And now baby is stronger and bigger, some of the kicks can take my breath away. I do love feeling baby move though, so wouldn't change it.

Good news about the CF results hooya! And on the pushchair front I have nothing constructive to add except for go for the Stokke Xplory as its BEAUTIFUL! I really wanted one but we couldn't quite stretch to it unfortunately - I think I would have just parked it in the corner of the front room and stared at it! Grin

wing sounds like everything is going swimmingly with little DD, so glad that bf is working out for you so far!

I know I've not mentioned loads of everyone's important news but my excuse is I've got a horrible cold and my head is full of treacle so I will have to pop back later and catch up properly when it hurts less Sad

WingDefence · 02/04/2013 10:15

Hi all :)

At my end bfing seems to be going relatively well. DD is a bit of a slow eater though and pauses after every (say) 5-10 sucks so I have to keep tickling/stroking her. And the biggest issue I have are the massive cluster feeds she's done for the past 3 nights (so every night apart from her first). Sat was 9pm-2am, Sun was better at 5-10:30pm but last night was roughly 7pm-1am! She then does sleep for a few hours but it's just crazy.

She latches on fine then does her feed-pause-feed-pause but also falls asleep on me after 15-30mins bit if I try to put her down she starts rooting and sucking her fist and cries until I start feeding her again!

Last night I just let her fall asleep properly on me at 1 and dozed myself for 15 mins before I tried to move her and that seemed to work. I don't think I can do much about it - DH got really frustrated last night because nothing he could possibly do would satisfy her as she obviously was hungry.

He'd introduce a bottle tonight if he could but the MW and the What To Expect... book (best book ever!) say wait 2-3 weeks before doing so so that's what we are going to aim for (two weeks today basically).

Right, she's getting hungry again so I'd better go!

Hooya · 02/04/2013 14:58

Ooh MrsBri that sounds painful! Judging by miniHooya's kicks in the scan vids, I'm in for some fun...

Kitten boo about the cold, so crap when you can't get proper drugged up either! I am with you on the Xplory, it does look brilliant - DP seems to be leaning a bit so maybe I'll persuade him Smile

Wing that sounds so exhausting! Good on you, have some Brew and Biscuit to keep the energy up!

So we got another scan today - doc is 85% that the baby is a boy! Grin All measuring good or ahead of dates Smile .
I'll post the scan vid on the fb page - there was a nice moment when he was saying can't tell, then moved angle and we all thought we saw boy bits and he went "oh, looks like it's probably a boy!"

Also another classic line when I asked about diet as I am worried I'm gaining too fast - he said up the protein and less carbs, as (quote) "babies are made of protein, not noodles!" Grin He also reassured me that DP can be in the room when I have my c-section (some in Japan don't allow them - wtf?). So all in all a brilliant scan visit!

notsoold · 03/04/2013 00:21

Hooya....excellent news all over your post today!!!
Congrats on Master Hooya... And really good news about your oh being allowed with you!!!
Xxxx

Pineapple80 · 03/04/2013 02:57

Hooya - that is great news that the test results are all clear Smile!!

MrsBri - sounds like your little one is super active! Mine has active days then quieter ones. I know that weird knuckle feeling u described, it's kind of like a deep rolling sensation to me! Some of the movements are bizarre but I'm really loving it and can't wait to meet bub.

Wing - I will miss you once you leave this thread!! I guess we will all move over to the mums threads eventually though.

Kitten - hope you get well soon!

Notsoold - how are you doing? Hope you've been well. How many weeks are you now?

All going well on my end over here, cannot complain. Have been feeling v tired this week, keep waking up at 4am or so but manage to get back to sleep. Alarm then goes off and it's off to work! Another 4.5 weeks left f work for me but as I am on contract I have told them I'm willing to work till end of may if they need me. Really could do with the extra money and i am feeling fit and well so far so I guess why not?

Bought some nappies on sale last week, I got 7 packs at 50% off! They are the Naty/Natures baby brand and I quite like the Eco and health aspect of them. Not sure if anyone has used them before or not? I plan to buy a pack of nappies a week from now till due date, maybe it'll be less hassle down the track...any thoughts?

I plan to use modern cloth nappies eventually but think we will probably start on disposables at the beginning. Everyone has different thoughts and advice but I'd like to give them a go!

Have a lovely day everyoneSmile

MrsBri · 03/04/2013 07:32

Ooh, a boy, fantastic news, Hooya :-) When is your next scan so you can check / confirm?

Pineapple, I have active days and quiet days too. I guess Baby B can't sustain utterly mental on a permanent basis!

We can't wait to meet baby either...DH is stupidly excited, bless him. :-)

OP posts:
ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 03/04/2013 08:38

Very sweet to hear that your OH is so excited MrsBri. My OH doesn't really 'do' excited. I know he'll be pleased when baby is HERE and we are both safe - until then he tends to worry until then.

Fantastic news about your scan and results Hooya - you must be very relieved.

Glad you're still feeling well Kitten. When I was pregnant with DS (DC1) I worked until the end and felt fine, plus it maximised my maternity leave/pay with him. I am really glad I'm not teaching now though Grin .

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 03/04/2013 08:40

Obviously I meant to tag you about the working thing Pineapple - good job baby brain is already a valid excuse!

notsoold · 03/04/2013 10:40

morning jsers!!!!
I have a question...how to explain to DH that his jsing time is finite (remembering my other pregnancies/bfing times) and therefore he should enjoy as it lasts???Grin

pineapple I am still 10+5 weeks.....

xxx

tiredteddy · 03/04/2013 16:58

Lost you all for a couple of days.

So glad to hear your news Hooya! A little boy, how lovely.

Kittenkatzen · 03/04/2013 19:11

Blurgh

Cough cough cough. Sniff. Sniff sniff.

StuckOnARollercoaster · 03/04/2013 19:36

Hello all

Feel for you kitten - just like holidays I think a cold was waiting for me to finish work and I'm sat here sniffing and feeling sorry for myself also.

notsoold - I kept warning my DP that the JSing would diminish but he's the one pointing out that it doesn't seem to be happening yet and asking if he will get a break when the baby is born!

that sounds like a bargain pineapple on the nappies - I'm trying to buy 1 newborn pack from each brand and will then see what suits - I'll check out those eco friendly ones next time I'm in a big supermarket. The only thing I've picked up from threads on here is not to overbuy in case your baby is born bigger and you need the next size up.

and congrats on a little boy hooya

Apart from this stinky cold I am loving being off work - have managed to finish a big sofa throw that I've crocheted for my mum (has taken 8 months it was so big!) which means I can start on a snuggly blanket for mini-Stuck. Have got a big 'to do' list but I'll start that in a few days!!!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 04/04/2013 12:19

Well so far my 'day of being childless productive' has involved folding some bedding and having a bath. I did attempt to do some reading for my PhD whilst in the bath but unfortunately my heavily pregnant brain is too addled to make sense of it Confused . Think I might just type up my existing thoughts and send them to my supervisors as they are.

I'm going to buy the last few baby things this afternoon - maternity pads, breast pads etc. I'll be 'full-term' on Saturday so have given baby permission to stay in until then but then she needs to get a move on, I'm bored now!

Just in case she settles in for a bit longer which is highly likely I am booking myself some lovely treatments next week. It's my birthday on Monday so I have a good excuse to treat myself I think. I'm going to have a Maya abdominal massage which aims to balance your womb and your internal organs. It can, apparently, help baby engage faster, reduce time/pain in labour and helps remove scar tissue - which I have masses of. If nothing else though I get to lie down for a couple of hours whilst someone rubs my ginormous belly, which can only be a good thing I figure.

How is everyone else planning on spending their last weeks/days of maternity leave?

Practisingparent · 04/04/2013 13:30

Guinea I really hope its my last 'days' of maternity leave, Im getting bored and yet trying to keep busy enough for time to fly by! Really Im just filling time with last odd jobs around the house. Good idea about booking treats, I have a hair appointment in a couple of weeks and think I might book a pedicure too. The abdo rub sounds interesting, hope it works out for you.

Anyone have any ideas about spending quality time with 2yr old dd? Really feel like I should make the most of her, as I will be distracted, no doubt, when screaming newborn arrives.

stuck your crafty projects sound lovely, but Im trying not start anything too big, I wont have time to finish.

kitten hope that cold is on its way out now!

Practisingparent · 04/04/2013 13:37

notsoold I think you phrased that just right! My poor DH had no warning!

ChildOfThe1980s · 04/04/2013 14:03

Guinea that massage sounds good. Is it only for the last few days of pregnancy or would it be safe at 33 weeks?

Practicing does your 2 year old like crafts? You could make something special together. Also maybe a small trip out to somewhere they like, like a farm? But the weather isn't that helpful is it? Or, they may be too young, but I've been thinking about fitting in another trip to the cinema before baby arrives - I know I'll miss it when I can't go for a few months.

Well, I managed to get up today, have breakfast, have a bath, buy a mattress online and then had to go back to bed as I was absolutely knackered for no reason - and I slept well last night. Terrible.

Practisingparent · 04/04/2013 22:36

child Id love to do something crafty with dd. i might try doing some salt dough with her and maybe decorating the letters of her name. Will have to look up a recipe. not sure where that thunderbolt came from, but excited now! will also look into a day trip with her, I think. Thanks for ideas!

Kittenkatzen · 05/04/2013 07:49

Morning! Cold is in it's way out now thankfully - hope you're feeling better too stuck Thanks

child I often find baths make me sleepy, especially in the morning!

Can I ask for some advice please from you lovely ladies? I think my boobs are trying to take over the world so need to invest in some new bras - should I go straight for nursing bras now? Or are my bazongas likely to outgrow these ones too before I'm done?! Also any recommends gratefully received Smile

MrsBri · 05/04/2013 08:17

Hi Kitten...my boobs did that. And have started doing it again.

You should go and get maternity bras (usually not underwired, but some are. I'm not comfy with wire now), not nursing ones. You'll need to get refitted nearer to the due date for nursing bras.

And mine have loads of support, you wouldn't know they don't have wire!

OP posts:
ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 05/04/2013 09:31

Child the massage is suitable for everyone as far as I know - I know you don't live near me but this is the person I'm seeing and her website has some great info.

Ended up in MAC again last night with regular contractions but thought baby had done a flip! Luckily she's still head down so all is good and I came home straight away.

Glad your cold is going Kitten.

Re. maternity/nursing bras they usually recommend getting fitted for nursing bras from 36 weeks, so before then its probably worth getting supportive maternity bras. When I had DC1 my breasts exploded after day 3 so I recommend getting your daytime nursing bras after baby arrives. But you can get night/sleep nursing bras that will see you through late pregnancy and early breastfeeding. I've just ordered these from Jojo Maman Bebe.

Kittenkatzen · 05/04/2013 13:09

Thanks for the tips ladies, will investigate some maternity bras for now then. Hopefully I'll be able to find some comfy underwired ones, not sure non-wired would cope with my boobage (DH keeps offering to find me a nice metal girder Hmm)

MrsBri · 05/04/2013 13:15

I've gone up to 38E and non wired is fine! Maternity bras are made to be supportive :-)

tiredteddy · 05/04/2013 18:09

Stuck! The crochet blanket sounds lovely. I'm planning to quilt all dd's clothes into a nice quilt for her big bed one day!

Guinea, how are you feeling today. Sill having contractions? How long to go now?

Kitten, I agree with the advice you've been given re bras. Try to wait until your milks come in for feeding bras. My size changed so much especially with ds1. Sleep bras are good for the first few days. Happy shopping!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 05/04/2013 18:29

Love the idea of using baby clothes to make a quilt Tired. Couldn't really do it now as I have given away all of DSs and DDs clothes so only DD2 would have one (gosh it seems weird referring to a DD2!)

Still having contractions yes - ended up in MAC again last night as I thought she'd flipped but thankfully she's still head down. As a bonus I did manage to scrounge some of the bedmats from the hospital which saves me buying some Grin

Feel like I am not at all ready for my homebirth. I went in to a local charity shop yesterday and got loads of towels. Just washed them and they are drying as we 'speak'. I am hoping that DD takes this as an indication that she can come, though quite where I'd find the energy to give birth from I don't know - I am absolutely exhausted today.

The HB notes from the hospital arrived today and I have bought a very powerful torch, which was the only thing the HB midwife actually asked for.

Is it bedtime yet?
