Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

Hooya · 29/03/2013 14:26

Woohoo! Congrats Wing and love love LOVE the name!

Good luck Guinea

And welcome Lady, more congrats!

Practisingparent · 29/03/2013 15:05

Apologies something, I guess not everyone has it easy, hope you are not too traumatised.

I keep thinking about my first birth, and thinking, I so don't want a repeat! Even tho I managed a natural delivery in the end.

i would love a go at a water birth, but would really like to know how a natural onset labour might go for me, and whether it might be more manageable.

somethingwittynot · 29/03/2013 15:13

Water births look amazing!

WingDefence · 29/03/2013 15:55

Right, v quick version of the birth story!
It was all pretty quick even though I was planning a home birth anyway! I woke at 1:30 with cx every 10-15 mins, then woke DH at 2:50, started monitoring the cx at 3:40 and they got long and close v quickly. Called for the MW at 4:10, started pushing at 4:30, DH called 999 at 4:35 and she was born a few mins later! Paramedic turned up 5:05, ambulance at 5:15, MW at 5:20!!!!

Phew! She's been sleeping a lot today so I feel like I've got off easily so far but not looking forward to the milk coming in! DS taken it all in his stride ie not that bothered!!

ChildOfThe1980s · 29/03/2013 16:15

Woop woop! Super congrats Wing and what a lovely birth story and beautiful first and middle name. [bugrin] It's certainly been a good Friday for you, lol.

How are you feeling now? Looking forward to seeing photos. Flowers

I hope my labour is as quick as yours!

How are things going Guinea ? Hope you and miniGuinea are well.

Welcome to the thread, Lady.

Dysgu · 29/03/2013 22:23

Congratulations wing how fabulous! Glad you got your home birth - how did you feel with it just being the two of you? Were you calm and relaxed or stressing that no one was arriving in time? I have no idea how I would have coped but I am sure DP would have been in full panic mode! Lovely name and glad that your DS is taking it all in his stride - though he might think twice about going to his next sleepover if he comes home to a new baby!

waves it sounds like you are having a tough time with this pg - the hg and the situation at home; hope you are managing to take care of yourself.

something glad you got the appointment so promptly and hope that Henry is sorted quickly - hope it is not too tough a wait until Tuesday.

Practising nice to see you - I thought I would be sitting it out until 42 weeks even though all the medical people said not! Can't actually imagine it tbh. Hope that you are not too uncomfortable and that, when it happens, the birth goes smoothly.

Lady congratulations on the bfp and to reaching 16 weeks. Hope you are feeling well.

Hi to anyone I have missed - hope all are well...

Dysgu · 29/03/2013 22:24

I am sitting on the sofa cuddling Evan

DP has just taken DDs up to bed - very late but it has been quite a day!

I got to NICU at about 8.30am this morning and the ward sister said she had been about to phone me. That caused a moment of panic as they have never had to call with Evan so it makes you think there is something wrong.

But then she said, "Well, you're going to need your car seat if you are taking him home today!"

Again, a moment of panic but then it sunk in and we were out of the hospital at lunchtime. I did consider just taking him home to surprise everyone but then thought that, had it been DP at the hospital this morning, then I would want to know and be involved in Evan coming home. So I called DP but we agreed to keep it a surprise for the DDs so my dad came over - and put the cot together for us!

Evan passed all of his discharge tests - car seat, eyes, hearing, weight (5lb 3oz) with flying colours.

The girls were very excited to see him home - the NICU staff gave him a knitted hat in the design on a chicken so he was little easter chick and even brought chocolate eggs for the DDs, courtesy of the NICU staff.

DD1 had the first cuddle and was quickly followed by DD2. They have both helped with nappy changes and feeding and we took him out in the car where the girls have been taking it in turns to sit next to him.

He has had cuddles with my Dparents who can't get over how tiny he is in person!

I am hoping that we have a good first night - both DDs have not been sleeping through the night since I had him and are anxious about wanting us in the night and us being busy with Evan. Hopefully such a late night for them might mean they are so tired and sleep through - although DP has a habit of falling asleep with them so I might need to go wake him in a while!

WingDefence · 30/03/2013 08:44

So exciting that you have got your family compete at home Dysgu!

Wondering how Guinea is getting on... Hope all is well wherever she is...

DH and I had a few hours between us last night. I was pretty much proper up the whole time with F on me, either sleeping of me trying to get her to wake up and feed or her feeding!

I really can't believe how different I feel to after I had DS. DH said to me this morning that he doesn't remembered smiling at all those first few weeks :( Must have been awful for him. Having DS helps and even last night, even when it took me 45 frustrating minutes to get F to wake and latch, I was relieved when she did so could relax more about it. Even though she then went on and off for two hours while I was trying not to fall asleep!!

Not looking forward to the baby blues hitting in the next day or so but I will try to remember that these are all phases. Pleeeease remind me of that when I'm posting really fed up posts!

Love to all - sorry I don't have time to comment on each of your entries right now Thanks

ChildOfThe1980s · 30/03/2013 15:51

Great news Dysgu :)

Glad that things are going well so far, Wing It is a shame we have so many hormones flying around at this time- that combined with sleep deprivation can make the first few months so hard.

I seem to be having Braxton Hicks for the first time this pregnancy (31 weeks). It's quite weird (and hard to stop myself from packing my hospital bag in a panic!)

Hope everyone is well.

LadyFlumpalot · 30/03/2013 16:04

Thanks for all the welcomes! Am off to read the thread and catch up.

Congratulations Wing!

ChildOfThe1980s · 30/03/2013 22:00

Well, I had some bloody discharge and my womb was feeling all tight, so I rang the midwives. The lady I spoke to said to come in (to the delivery dept) so I went up to the hospital for a couple of hours.

They monitored baby's heartbeat and whether I was having any contractions, and did an internal exam, but everything is fine so I could come home. Just have to call them again if there's any more blood.

Better safe than sorry. I dreamt last night that I was having contractions, so they may have been Braxton Hicks as well. On the plus side, I am now going to go out asap and buy some prem and newborn baby clothes, just in case. And some less exciting disposable pants and huge pads!

tiredteddy · 30/03/2013 22:43

Lovely posts from Dysgu and Wing. Newborn cuddles are just amazing. As Pineapple said down thread fern is growing fast, she's 11weeks already and filling out quickly.

Hope you are ok Guinea?

Child glad things are ok always better to get checked out.

Hooya · 31/03/2013 00:33

So many congrats to Wing and you seem to be coping with the first days wonderfully!

And Dysgu great to hear about you taking Evan home to the family - it sounds (and looks from the fb pics) just lovely.

Child I'm already scared of BH and I'm only 16 weeks! I'm such a wimp I'm sure I'll show up at hospital and they'll look at me like I'm a right muppet...

More good lucks to Guinea hope all is well.

We've finally started trying to choose some of the 'kit' for baby. Any thoughts on Stokke Xplory vs Bugaboo Chameleon for buggy? I like the Xplory for the height and eye contact etc, DP likes the Bugaboo because, erm, they make it in orange and he likes that colour Hmm ha ha!

And anyone used a hammock instead of moses basket? We are going to get the Stokke cot that starts as a micro-cot thing so may not need the hammock for long, and it does look lovely and cosy and good stats on sleeping... ooh this is difficult!

Pineapple80 · 31/03/2013 08:13

Ooh Wing she is gorgeous. Sounds like you and DH are doing well, so happy to hear that Smile.

Dysgu - lovely to hear Evan is well!

Child - hope you're doing ok. You're right getting check out in case, I would've done the same. I've had some really light spots of pink a few months ago after JSing and also have had strong BH after too Blush. The tightening feeling is a bit weird isn't it?

Hooya - we bought the Bugaboo cameleon. Have to admit we didn't look at anything else as it was on sale and a really good deal so we took it! Feels really smooth to push around and easy enough to take apart to collapse and reassemble. Not too heavy either which is great. We got the red and black Wink, again no choice with colour but I happen to love red!

MrsBri · 31/03/2013 12:41

Congrats, Dysgu, on taking Evan home. Must be fantastic to have your whole family at home :-)

Child, good to get these things looked at. How far along are you now? Hopefully all is OK now.

Guinea, hope everything is ok and you have a better idea what is happening now.

Waves, I hope you manage to settle into your altered situation soon. Hopefully your DC will help you.

Baby B has been utterly bonkers since yesterday. He can't seem to make his mind up where he wants to settle. Though he keeps trying head down, in the middle, he keeps returning to the right hand side. Plenty of time to turn though. Kind of!

Saw my parents and sister for the last time before birth on Friday / Saturday. Scary stuff...coming round so quickly!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 31/03/2013 17:32

Hi all. Thought I would update ...

... Baby still inside which is a good thing I suppose

I've been released from hospital following an encouraging scan to see the position of the baby and check where the cord is. They've basically said its a waiting game now but they are happy for me to wait at home, on the proviso I go in if it all hots up again/waters break/mvts change etc. I'm still contracting - sometimes regularly for an hr or two and other times sporadically. I'm torn between wanting her to come out, because I am fed up of latent labour (a long latent phase is apparently common with third babies Envy at Tired and Dysgu for missing out this 'wonderful' stage!) but if she stays inside until next Saturday I can still have my HB though if she comes on Thursday/Friday then I'm staying at home anyway

ChildOfThe1980s · 31/03/2013 18:11

MrsBri I'm 31 weeks.

Guinea are you getting enough rest or are the contractions quite full-on?

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 31/03/2013 20:55

Some of the contractions are like prolonged, slightly more intense BH. Others are crampy and stop me moving/talking and I have to sway rhythmically. I looked v. strange at church this morning Grin

WingDefence · 01/04/2013 01:38

Guinea, I'd not heard of this latent phase. Is that like the first stage of labour but before you hit 4cms when they say it's proper established labour? That is a right pain (no pun intended) [busad]

I'm currently giving Snuggly newborn feeds. Looks like my milk is just starting to come through. So weird - never had this with DS as the bfing just wasn't working (partially due to his bad jaundice taking him back into hospital). She seems to be fairly good at latching on but we'll see what happens once the milk is in and she ramps up feeding... Not looking forward to that as we've been relatively spoiled with a couple of good stretches of sleep [busad] I feel okay in myself too this time round but have been keeping an eye on myself and my moods as well.

Hmm...

Right, I need my hand back to relieve the cramp in my supporting arm! Hope you all had lovely Easters [bugrin]

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 01/04/2013 08:21

Yes Wing its also called prodromal labour in some literature and you're right, its pain in every sense!

Glad BFing seems to be easier this time round. Can't wait to have squidgy newborn feeds - I LOVE BFing good excuse to sit down, eat lots and cuddle babies!

Going to Ikea today and then probably for a walk with my DPs and their dogs, need to get the kids to run off all their Easter eggs!

Hope you all had a lovely Easter day. We celebrated at church in the morning but spent the afternoon sorting the house out - few more bits and pieces and I think we are there.

I was going to ask Wing if there was anything you wish you'd had at your HB that I should get...but baby Faith didn't seem to want to engage in a leisurely process Wink . Still...any words of wisdom?

WingDefence · 01/04/2013 12:31

Guinea, yes it was so quick that all our plans went out the window (just like with DS where I never opened my labour bag) so I'm not sure what we could have needed more of but the one thing is definitely TOWELS.

I had got four old ones to use for the really yucky stuff but because I was in the bathroom with nothing else on the floor (ie the dust sheets we'd bought for the lounge carpet which we were going to cover with newspapers and then a few towels) and I shouted at DH to get those just before DD arrived, they got chucked as there were no point in trying to keep them. [long sentence, sorry!]

So we had enough for DD's birth (still a lovely novelty to write DD!!), but I do think we could have done with more. She was wrapped up in the first towel to hand after she was born (my bath towel) and then another one when she was checked over a couple of hours later as then of carouse I needed one for my shower - a clean one for my top half and one that could get blood on for my bottom half. And then of course I've had showers every day afterwards to keep the stitches clean (I'm not a bath person and I can't feel these ones anyway so haven't felt the need to sit in a bath with tea tree oil/lavender oil in).

So yes - towels!!!

Milk has apparently come in as DD finishes feeding now with a milky mouth. She's a bit jaundiced but otherwise all lovely. And I've realised that I really need to head over to the Just Mumming page!

Hooya · 01/04/2013 13:25

Oh Guinea you must be knackered! Here's hoping everthing settles down pre Saturday (or Thurs or Fri Smile ). Are they really sore?

Wing brilliant that your milk is in and lovely to hear you looking forward to BFing. I'm pretty excited about BFing though very scared too will defo be all over mn for tips

MrsBri I am at the waiting to feel movement stage so I am so jealous of your active baby!! Does it keep you awake / is it sore?

Pineapple right that's one vote for the Bugaboo - thanks Smile

We got great news today - both mine and DP's gene tests for CF came back negative Grin . The tests only cover 90% of variants so there is still a risk but it's tiny now - 1 in 2,700 ish, phew!

Got another docs appointment tomorrow at 16 weeks but I'm not sure if we get a scan - here's hoping!
