Aww just back from the midwife and the baby had hiccups when she was trying to listen to its heart!
In other news I'm officially not enormous, bump measuring small (well below the lowest centile marked out on the graph) apparently it's very normal to measure small at 25 weeks so she's not worried but if it's still below at 28 weeks I'll be referred for growth scans. So I'm officially not the size of a hippo, hurrah! Given that I'm hobbit sized myself I don't see this as something to worry about.
In other other news she advised I should avoid walking, swimming, pushing a shopping trolley or vacuum cleaner due to my crumbling pelvis. Could be interesting times in our house since my OH is bloody useless and I do everything around the house. Also that I should try to keep my knees together, could have avoided all this pain if I'd done that 6 months ago Grin

BraveLilBear · 21/03/2013 17:10

Yay to hiccuping BabyPurple Grin

And to not being size of a hippo! Tho on the size thing, I worried myself the other day as I'm so convinced that they've brought my dates forward by 6-7 days. Looked on the graphs in my notes and if 'my' dates are correct, I've got a 97 percentile baby growing. Tho, if they force it out a week ahead of 'my' dates then that might compensate?!

But the whole crumbling pelvis thing - ummm ouch??!! Blimey. That's hardcore. Poor you. Will that news be enough to kick OH into action?

MotherOfCleo · 21/03/2013 17:14

purple I feel for you re the crumbling pelvis, and also my OH is shit too, he thinks the house is self cleaning and yet gets annoyed if their is dog hair anywhere.....we have a hound, she sheds, hence fur everywhere! Wouldnt think to grab the hoover though Hmm

Nice to hear bubba though, what do baby hiccups inside the womb sound like?

Purplemonster · 21/03/2013 17:47

Yeah I sincerely hope I'm the only Elderberry graduate to get PGP, I wouldn't wish it on anyone and the midwife fully admitted its going to get a lot worse. I can't say I'd have know it was hiccups if she hadn't told me tbh but it was fun to know all the same. I suffer quite badly with hiccups myself so OH was making jokes about how I've passed on my hiccup affliction to the baby.
I can't see Mr Useless suddenly manning up and doing the cleaning though, I imagine I'll still be doing it in the knowledge that it is making the pain worse, and he's got a loft conversion to be getting on with.

As for her advice about keeping your knees together 'like you're in finishing school' when getting in and out of the car etc I'll give it a go but give that I'm still driving the low sports car with bucket seats it could be impossible!

Cavort · 21/03/2013 20:56

Good news at the MW Purple and I was also measuring small - 23cm at 25 weeks, but like yours mine said it's not officially measured until 28 weeks and I have definitely grown loads in the last week so FX for a bit of a growth spurt.

I have officially told work today that I will be going on Maternity from 31st May, which will give me 3.5 weeks put put my feet up before the birth (or probably 5.5 knowing my luck!) I can't wait now - 10 weeks tomorrow! My company's FY ends on 26th April and the weeks leading up to it are always mad busy every year so I'll be so glad when we get into May and can wind down a bit. DH's company on the other hand look like they are going to land a pretty big contract which will make him ridiculously busy from now until at least next year. Looks like I could be heading into single parenthood Hmm I hope he can get a few hours off for the birth. Hmm

Something terrible happened at work today... I work in FMCG retail and a supplier sent in a whole freezer full of free ice cream - Magnums, Soleros, Cornettos, Calippos, Mini Milks, all flavours and ALL FREE. It took every single ounce of willpower I possess to restrict myself to just one Magnum. There are still loads left though and I don't fancy my chances of resisting tomorrow.

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 21/03/2013 21:17

...and this is terrible how? Hmm? Free ice cream is good and you need to grow before your 28 week appt no? So clearly you need to eat more ice cream Grin

The only thing I don't get is that you LOOK small so it's no surprise that you measured small. I, however, look like a rotund rhinoceros and I'm still technically small. How does that work?

HazleNutt · 21/03/2013 21:36

I agree, that's just pure evil. Freezer full of free ice cream!

Alexandra6 · 21/03/2013 21:58

Freezer full of ice cream?! I'm in the wrong job Wink

Cavort · 22/03/2013 07:47

Ok, who said it could bloody well snow? And really heavy snow as well! Outside is like Narnia, the dog is standing by the door waiting for his walk, I can't fasten any of my warm coats and DH has gone to work. Bah!

Free ice cream would be heaven to my non-pregnant self who would only want one a day or possibly two, but in my current constantly ravenous state I could happily eat 10 in one go so the fact there are 10 readily available for free is not such a good thing.

Yes, you are right there Purple, I do need to grow don't I? If only I could believe the ice cream would go on the baby rather than straight on my arse. Confused

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 22/03/2013 10:51

Ice cream is good baby fuel. FACT. (Well possibly ever so slightly made up but don't let that stop you). I need to grow too so please can you send some free ice cream my way too?

We still haven't had any snow it just rains constantly here instead.

HazleNutt · 22/03/2013 11:09

I'll beat you at smugness Purple - it's nice and sunny here.

As for food, I shoudl be about at that stage where the baby needs an extra 300 kcal. That's a magnum per day.

Cavort · 22/03/2013 11:48

Sun? Double bah!! Even rain beats this, my new centre of gravity is not suited to walking in the snow. I might have a Solero to cheer me up Grin

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 22/03/2013 12:36

Sunny here too.....sorry.

I feel like crap, serious nausea and the attention span of a gnat Sad plus I am very sleepy.

BraveLilBear · 22/03/2013 13:02

No snow up here, just an Arctic wind. There's rumoured to be white stuff tomorrow though Confused

Sorry you feel like poo Mother - it won't make you feel any better but it's a good sign as it means plenty of hormones knocking around. And you will feel better one day. I promise.

Ice cream is awesome. That is all Grin

MotherOfCleo · 22/03/2013 13:05

cheers bear thats what I keep telling myself.

Ben & Jerrys is my fav.....yum yum yum Wink

BraveLilBear · 22/03/2013 13:21

I honestly went through a phase at Christmas, after I'd had to have emrgency surgery under GA for an abscess in a bad place, with morning sickness ramped up to 2-3 voms a day, and then a tummy bug that nearly landed me back in hospital for hydration treatment, that I honestly thought I'd never feel better again. I was seeing nurses every day for dressings on my wound and more than once I just broke down in pathetic poor me tears. What made it worse was the fact that they were all so lovely and genuinely sympathetic - I must have looked a right state!

5-6 weeks later, I was fine again. Sure, still a bit on the tired side and getting the odd blast of indigestion, but I felt normal again. This too shall pass!

In other news, has anyone else discovered that junior has a pattern of movement yet? It seems that Baby Bear is a fan of early morning aerobics - bizarrely always in the same place, at about 6am, when OH's alarm goes off. What's so nice is that because OH is sleepy at that time (as am I), he can tune in properly and feel it boogying away.

Having said that, it's hardly stopped moving all morning so far, and I've been stood around on my feet which is when I'm usually less likely to notice! I think this is definitely my favourite part of being pregnant Grin

Cavort · 22/03/2013 13:48

Mmmm, Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough... there's none of that in the freebie freezer Sad

I second what Brave is saying Mother, I was nauseous daily from around 6-16 weeks with the worst being from 8-14 weeks, but although unpleasant it definitely wan't unmanageable and I was only actually sick about 7 or 8 times. Eat often, eat whatever you fancy whether healthy or not and if you're tired sleep, irrespective of what time it is. It's only for a relatively short time and it will be worth it in the end but you have my sympathies while you're suffering, I do remember it well Flowers

Brave our baby seems to be a bit of a night owl. I feel her throughout the day but she does her main workout after dinner right up until bed time. It's probably for the best as I am grumpy in the mornings at the best of times without being woken up by a boot to the bladder!

A girl from work who had her baby a few weeks ago has sent me a lovely email of encouragement saying how the birth (8 hours long, diamorphine and G&A) was nowhere near as bad as she expected. She says it's painful but not to the point where you feel like you are actually going to die and pushing/crowning feels like putting your fingers in your mouth and pulling it open as wide as you can. She says she would choose to go through labour several times over rather than the last month of pregnancy agian.

Oh how nice Cavort, it's so refreshing to hear that instead of all the gleeful horror stories that people insist on telling you.

I'm so glad it's Friday and I'm only working one day next week (Thursday though annoyingly!), I feel so unreasonably exhausted at the moment I'm starting to wonder about my iron levels (more of a worry for me as I can't take supplements) they are doing bloods at my next appt in 3 weeks so I'll find out then. Hopefully that's not it but I'm just so totally knackered it doesn't seem normal. Between that and floppy pelvis pain I'm struggling to feel cheery (not utterly miserable you understand, just a bit huffy about it all). Pass the ice cream will you?

BraveLilBear · 22/03/2013 14:28

That is a nice email Cavort - although rather detailed! I trust she was a fairly close colleague and not a total random on a share-all Wink

Hands up who's just contemplated putting their fingers in their mouth and pulling it wide apart... I only didn't do it cos my boss is sat opposite and would think I've totally lost it!

Sorry you're needing an ice-cream boost Purple - if only they did iron-infused ice-cream...

And as for bladder kicks - I think the only good thing about having a low anterior placenta is that I think it's shielding my bladder, although I have had some odd intestinal sensations that felt weirdly like kicks.

janey1234 · 22/03/2013 22:33

Quick hello to you all from the west coast of Ireland! Have missed quite a lot of chat in the last two days sorry. I have, however, got engaged. SmileSmileSmile Bloody gorgeous ring as well, hoorah, well done to DP for choosing the most amazing rock!

Purplemonster · 22/03/2013 22:36

Yay! Congratulations!i hope it was more romantic than the proposal I got Janey!

Cavort · 22/03/2013 22:42

Blimey Janey, you get around! I love the west coast of Ireland, absolutely beautiful. Where abouts are you? And what fantastic news, I am over the moon for you and your fiancé! Grin And bravo on his rock-choosing abilities! Grin

Another of my friends has announced she is pregnant tonight. She's 37 and only started TTC in January.

OP posts:
janey1234 · 23/03/2013 07:45

What was your proposal then purple?!

And cavort - we flew into Shannon, and he proposed on the banks of the lake at Killarney. Driving round the ring of Kerry today if the rain holds off. Fantastic news about your friend - and amazing it happened so quickly. I'm surprised it was so quick for me at my great age. DP has announced we need to be married before I'm 40 - which means before next nov - hopefully enough to shift all this baby weight?! Argh, 40 though....Confused

Alexandra6 · 23/03/2013 07:49

Janey's ring is gorgeous! Her brilliant news completely made my day yesterday, with that and my BFP earlier in the week - what a great week! Smile

Have been up since half six and keep waking up really early even though I'm tired, heard of pg insomnia but this is early to have that right? Bloody annoying as am shattered. Time is going sooooo slowly, really want to get to 8 weeks and my first scan!

Alexandra6 · 23/03/2013 07:51

The wedding next year, woop!
