Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Is anyone's ms getting worse rather than better. I'm 9 weeks today and the last few days have woken up feeling awful. Gets better by lunchtime when the tiredness kicks in!

Any tips from anyone about things to settle my stomach?

I've got a night in with my best friends tomorrow. One knew we were ttc in January and I know is going to ask me about progress. The other one can read me like a book and will be very suspicious when I don't drink. I hate lying to people!

Now I'm having a dialemma this morning lairs. Pretty sure dd has a case f chicken pox quite a few friends little one have had them in the last fortnight and she has woken up with only 3 spots ATM (one of them a mini blister) but obv I am pregnant. I asked mum and dad if I have had them before and they both said they THINK I have. Do I need to call midwife? Don't wanna over react lol

Iheartcrunchiebars · 07/03/2013 07:38

I was researching this yesterday as chicken pox is going around here as well. I would call her to reassure yourself. Apparently the risk to the baby is very low and is only higher when you are 20 weeks plus . However call your midwife. You never know there might be something on your medical notes and she could at least tell you whether you've had it or not!

I'd give her a ring to put your mind at rest if nothing else.

Placenta brain day 2
So far I have almost driven car into garage door instead of reversing out the drive
Got to work with one navy and one black sock on
Made my porridge without adding the porridge to the bowl so had a bowl of hot milk.
Can you be signed off work for being daft?

Umlauf · 07/03/2013 09:25

Ahh jellycurls your post made me smile through the nausea! The other day I left my flat, walked down the corridor, 2 flights of stairs and outside to my car before I realised I'd forgotten to put my shoes on. Totally blaming the placenta brain!

This morning I went a bit loopy at having no proof of my baby's existence yet and downloaded the iPad Doppler app. Needless to say it didn't work (supposed to be used after 18 weeks and even then, its hardly medical!).

natalieand I'm experiencing awful back pain too. Does yours get gradually worse over the course of the day and be worst at night before bed? I've had my spine broken before and it didn't feel as bad as this, couldn't walk on Monday night! I've also been reading up on SPD and feeling horrible about that, as chances are due to my fcked up back i shall have every possible pain there is combined with a traumatic birth. I've asked my secretary to come with me to the doctor to help explain/interpret for me about my spine. Even though she doesn't speak english we sort of understand each other, whereas the doctors....!
Sorry I don't know anything about chicken pox though....

I've just spent a little while catching up with the rest of the thread and really sad to learn of the bad news. Also keeping my fingers crossed for rainbow and staying hopefully, as brown is the best colour for blood to be.

Smitten1981 · 07/03/2013 09:30

Urgh, I think I have a UTI, waiting to see the docs now. I knew I felt extra awful yesterday and I still feel so sick today but have decided to battle through and tough it out at work. This is so unpleasant, please go away nausea :(

HotSoupDumpling · 07/03/2013 09:33

I've been away for a few days and it's taken me ages to catch up! We really are mouthy preggers women aren't we.... Seems like the November bus passengers are too. I wonder why so many of us are pregs in Autumn, and whether it's because some women prefer to avoid a late Summer baby - and also hoping it doesn't affect the care we get!

So, I'm really behind, but anyway:

  • chickpea, sending you the very best of luck. Hope you can enjoy the TTc-ing process while most of us here have fanjos disintergrating from underuse!
  • Haylebop, really glad you're out of hospital
-Natalieand, I'd definitely call the midwife. Hopefully she can put your mind at ease or recommend a course of action. -jellycurls That's hilarious! I've been being v stupid too. I put it down to tiredness!

My nausea has reduced a bit, but every day after lunch and dinner I feel bludgeoned with fatigue. We recently stayed with relatives who we don't want to find out I'm pregs.. And we made a brilliant discovery. If you retch with your face tightly stuffed into a towel (and your door closed) , it sounds like a cough! So fingers crossed we've managed to hide it, although my belly is rather large (more with bloat than baby though...)

The only thing that has helped my nausea is constantly eating through it, something one of my friends told me about. I spend 70 percent of my spare time figuring out what I actually fancy to eat, buying it, preparing it, chowing it!

cherrycherry41 · 07/03/2013 10:25

Natalieand ive had chickenpox twice and a bad bout of shingles in my teens. Its a pile of poo that once uve had it u cant get it again, its unlikely as youll have built antibodies against it but in my case i didnt have enough. Call your gp or midwife for some advice, the risk is low in the first tri xx

Wickedgirl · 07/03/2013 10:54

I am now 8+3 and the sickness has really kicked in. The nausea was bad enough but the being sick and then still feeling sick is awful.

I still haven't heard about booking in or scan dates. I saw the doctor 4weeks ago......do you think I need to start chasing it? Do I call the drs or hospital do you think?

notsoold · 07/03/2013 11:00

Hellooo there!!!
Back from my scan and this time around they found a fetal pole and heartbeat.....
Will name check another time as I am writing this at the hospital after my scan!!! Thank you for all the fxs!!!

pinksky · 07/03/2013 12:05

Woohoo notso, that's great news. Well done!

I'm 7 weeks today, and called for my booking in appt this morning, so having that in two week's time.

I thought I'd managed to avoid nausea, but it's hit me over the past couple of days, just low level and consistent. Definitely helps to eat regularly, like you hotsoup I'm spending my time mostly thinking about or devouring food.

Yes there are heaps of Oct/Nov babies aren't there! We were trying for a while, so just the way it happened, but I do know people who would prefer an autumn due date. I really want a home birth, but imagine if it's too busy that will not be possible.

roxvox · 07/03/2013 12:09

Woo! Pleased for you notsoold. How are you feeling now?

wickedgirl I am 9+2 and just now called up to chase for details about my 12w scan. A few diverted phone calls later and I spoke to a girl who said "Oh, I recognise your name, I posted your letter just yesterday!". So it might be worth chasing, but if it's anything like my area then they don't organise scans until you're at 9w it would seem.

I am really pleased because they've booked me in for my scan when I'll be 12+2, on the same day that I'll be going home to see my family (and, all being well, tell them they're going to be grandparents). I've been saying on here for a while that I would get a private scan that week if they couldn't fit me in so I am over the moon that I'll be able to get it just before we go away. So it's 3 weeks today. Please stick in there minuscule baby!

Smitten1981 · 07/03/2013 12:10

Turns out I have a kidney infection and am now on (baby safe) antibiotics. Joy! Explains why I felt so awful though.

cazboldy · 07/03/2013 12:12

good news notsoold Smile

feeling rubbish today - just got no energy at all.....

got my scan on 26/03 - when by their dates i will be 13 weeks exactly - thought expecting them to put me back by a few days, so pretty good timing really Smile

looking forward to making sure there really is one in there! Grin

cazboldy · 07/03/2013 12:13

x posts smitten - hope u feel better soon xx

Natalieand · 07/03/2013 12:23

Excellent news notsoold
roxvox same happened to me I rang and asked about my scan she said oh I recognise your details I've just posted your appt out but she managed to re arrange it for a more convenient day so dh could also attend having scan at dead on 12 weeks on 3rd april

pinksky I must only be able to get pregnant in jan or something lol last time it took me a year to conceive and got preg at end of jan with dd being born on nov 1st and this time I started ttc in oct and baby is due oct 16th must be something about me lol

To those who already have more than one dc, is labour any easier second time round? Xx

pinksky · 07/03/2013 12:30

ha, natalieand - yep it took us about 8 months - don't know what happened to make it work this time! What a nice birthday present for your DD (though she might not see it like that?!)

So good to hear scan date news cazboldy and roxvox

Rockchick1984 · 07/03/2013 12:54

Hi all, just wanted to update - had my scan, baby is perfect for dates and we saw his/her heartbeat Grin Grin Grin Absolutely over the moon, so going to tell people now - see how many relatives I can reduce to tears this time... :)

cazboldy · 07/03/2013 13:37

Natalieand - i suppose it's easier in some ways - maybe as u know what to expect...... although that can also scare you as i get to a point and think "Oh shit - i can't do this again!" but of course you do!

Each labour is very different.

I think my first was the hardest, but following that i would say my fourth - but then he was my biggest baby, and after a 4 and a half year gap!

will be a 6 and a half year gap this time > but am hoping for a nice smallish baby Wink Grin

cazboldy · 07/03/2013 13:38

Oh and happy to hear your lovely news rockchick Smile

Wickedgirl · 07/03/2013 13:52

Cazboldy......don't say that

This is my 4th and there is a 9 year gap!

None of my babies were small..... Dd 8lb15oz, DS1 9lb 13oz (9days early), DS2 9lb 4oz

Haylebop12 · 07/03/2013 13:59

I'm hoping for a nice easy quick 2nd labour. Dd was 12 hours, no intervention and a perfect 7lb 6oz. Ill have another one of those please. Grin

Thinking about a private scan at around 10 weeks. Waiting till 12 is gonna kill me after last years mmc.

Haylebop12 · 07/03/2013 14:01

Oh and there will be 4.8 years between my two, I've def forgotten the pain!

JellyCurls · 07/03/2013 14:07

DC1 was 8.5 hours and a back to back baby and DC2 was a much easier 2 hours (from not being in labour according to midwife) to holding my baby. DC2 was born in membrane sack so waters never broke. Hoping DC3 copies DC2's birth and no quicker
