Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

Congratulations tattooed that's brilliant news and mama hope you are enjoying every minute with your new room mate!

For all those after a Midlands meet up, please count me in too.

river I too start ML on Friday - well technically it's the Easter holidays first, then I'm on ML as another fellow teacher here like I gather several others are, but the way it worked out was great as Easter hols get tagged on too!

Then it's all systems go with nursery painting and hospital bag packing! Am also hoping I get the urge for the random mad cleaning so many friends have told me they did in latter pregnancy! All that and some resting... Oh roll on Friday!

KatyT86 · 18/03/2013 08:00

So glad all early babies are well and thriving! And its great seeing everyone progressing. I don't post much (pregnancy induced carpal tunnel made it difficult!) but I follow you all avidly!

We were told last week baby was estimated 8lb 12oz at 36 weeks. We have been being scanned every week for polyhydramnious (excess fluid) so they have been on top of it. Being induced a week tomorrow. Scared, not sure what to expect. And worried how big he will be then!!!

Getting carpets laid and decorating... Far too late in game. Feel sick and cramping. Pity party over here !!! Ha! X

Fluffeh · 18/03/2013 08:09

katy my friends baby was just short of 10lbs and it was her first. She delivered and recovered fine. My other friend has just given birth to a 9.5lb DD, again first baby and easy birth. Hopefully yours will be just as easy :).

This week I'm being tortured by ugly nursing bras! I can't find any I like that cost less than £30. I really can't afford to spend that much per bra but I don't want to be flashing my bra umpteen times a day when it looks like something a grandma would wear!
I'm not huge of boob, an A outside of pregnancy and a D cup at the minute but I do have a smallish back at 30 now but I gather its meant to go down after the birth?
I just want pretty, but comfortable and practical feeding bras are they really that hard to find? :(

lutrinae · 18/03/2013 08:13

Good news Mama!

Agreed about going with the flow in labour. Never really tested my pain threshold so who knows? But going to try my best to stay in birth centre and water pool if it's within my control.
Is it weird to be both scared and sort of looking forward to labour?

Has anyone tried perineal massage yet? We were recommended it by our NCT to reduce tearing. Yowch.

lutrinae · 18/03/2013 08:17

Fluffeh me too - small boobed and on a budget so would also welcome advice. I also can't really imagine wanting to go out to get measured at 38 weeks but hey ho, needs must!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 18/03/2013 08:31

Fluff I have a nice one from Mothercare that was under £30. I'm going to get measured after I've had the baby. I found a couple of nice (ish) nursing bras in Asda although their stock is hit or miss.

Lutrinae I feel the same - I'm intrigued to go into labour, the whole process and getting my baby but nervous about the pain. I've had severe pain before (and DH struggled!) but at least this will be finite and they'll be a baby at the end of it!

Katy hope the induction goes ok and you can nest this week!

Morning all, will update properly later but last night went great, they drew back on the tube and Alex's stomach is full of milk - such a clever boy Smile gonna give him a bath and get dressed then can spend all day with him Until I have to go to physio and for the dr to check me over.
I am never letting him go I couldn't sleep I just stared a him, he is so beautiful. My ds is coming in soon as well for cuddles.

MrsB76 · 18/03/2013 09:35

Lutrinae, Faith: regarding pain it might help if you think about giving birth as more like a sports/endurance event. It is not pain as in "broken leg" but pain as in "running the marathon". So more like a muscle tiredness/cramp type of thing, also your body will be actively working so it is not like an injury but more like really hard work. With the best reward after crossing the finish line Smile

Oh, and since it is hard work, make sure DH has plenty of water and fructose tablets/Haribos or sports drinks to give you, it helped me a lot with energy during my 2 previous labours.

JaquelineHyde · 18/03/2013 10:07

Mama that is so good! I'm really, really happy for you Grin What a fabulous little boy you have.

All is boring here, SPD is still shite but other than that nothing is happening.

Yesterday I had a quick personal tidy and shaved my legs and under arms (which don't seem to be growing much at all), cut my toenails, plucked my eyebrows and then got DH to give my lady garden a quick trim Grin

Today we are doing tip runs and I am going to pack my hospital bag and work out what I still have to get. The baby's bag has been packed for weeks but for some reason I can't get motivated to do mine!

Hope everyone is well and either having a pain free end of pg or enjoying newborn snuggles. Smile

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 18/03/2013 10:24

MrsB that's actually really helpful to me because I have run well I did till last year when I got ill I know that it's tough to start with but once you get going and persevere you find your rhythm with it. Tired afterwards but a sense of satisfaction! I've done my pregnancy yoga this morning with the thought that I'm preparing my body as best I can too :)

Mama I'm glad you had a good night!

JacH get your bag packed!

EssexWelsh · 18/03/2013 10:50

fluffeh I got a really pretty set of 2 nursing bras from M&S, which were £28 for both, but if you get measures they give you £5 off, so that was good!

leluella · 18/03/2013 11:00

fluffeh I also don't want to spend a lot on nursing bras and have been looking at Newlook - they have some plain ones and slightly prettier ones for about £13 each.

MrsB76 - I like your analogy to labour pain being more like endurance pain, makes me feel more prepared to cope with it!

LikeCandy · 18/03/2013 11:56

fluffeh & lutrinae I'm small boobed (usually an A/B) and I have no idea what size I am at the moment. I measured my back as 30ish.
I've bought these 'sleep bras' from M&P. I got them in 8-10 and 12-14 and at the moment with high bump and large ribs the bigger size are really comfy.
I intend to get measured and buy real bras once my milk is in. I love the look of the bras by 'hot milk'.

katy at 36w scan baby Candy was estimated to be 6lb10 but the sonographer said the measurements are very rough and likely to be out!
From what I've read big babies come out easier because gravity gives them an advantage!

mama so good to hear your updates on Alex!

Sorted out baby clothes this morning. Even washed the 3-6m clothes we have ready to go in a drawer!! Washed the rest of the real nappies too. I love them - soooo cute! 96 disposables in new baby size then hoping to use real ones through to potty training.
Hospital bags ready but I keep eating the snacks I've put in so I need to buy some more, and extras!!

37+5 (and seeing consultant today about when I'll be induced!)

num3onway · 18/03/2013 12:25

Just been lay half on side half on stomach, recovery positionish. All of a sudden got pain up my bump. Anyone had this? I lie like this a lot and never had it before

Lyndaloo · 18/03/2013 12:47

Num3 I get a similar feeling when I'm in that position sometimes, I think its baby telling me I'm squashing him! Stops as soon as I move.
For anyone using bio oil on bump, I just got a good bargain on Amazon, £10.48 for 200ml with free delivery. Asda, superdrug etc all around £20.

num3onway · 18/03/2013 12:51

Phew I'm glad someone else has had it. Lay on bed on side since n she's had a good wiggle but nothing else

usernamegoeshere · 18/03/2013 13:06

Just want to quickly add to my ever long list of ailments... I have restless legs. Drove me insane last night, and poor oh too no sleep just constant turning and feeling sorry for myself.

The period cramps are back today, as uncomfortable as I am just keep trying to think its all a sign baby will be here soon and then I can start sleeping again - yey! (Ok I may be slightly optimistic)

Hope all is ok, thanks for bra tips, am small too I think just going to go new look, maybe get measured somewhere expensive though first.

Flosshilde · 18/03/2013 13:59

Quick post from me as I'm on my phone in hospital being monitored before they induce me! Grin So pleased the end is in sight now.

See you on the other side.

toobreathless · 18/03/2013 14:27

Good luck floss also good luck to Bonadea who if I remember correctly is also being induced today? (apologies if I've got that wrong!)

Hope you both have nice straight forward deliveries!

OP posts:
usernamegoeshere · 18/03/2013 14:37

Yeah I think it's bona today as well! Good luck to you both, hope you have super quick and safe deliveries, can't wait to see more snuggly new baby pics!

Mama1980 · 18/03/2013 14:39

Good luck to you both, thinking of you and cannot wait to see the baby pics Grin xxx

BonaDea · 18/03/2013 14:44

Hi ladies - yep being induced today. Pessary has been in a couple of hours but nothing doing yet. No complaints about experience so far except hospital is boiling and I'm melting!!

Good luck everyone else. Grin

bext · 18/03/2013 14:52

Good luck Floss and Bonedea, hope things get moving soon Grin

I'm 'working from home' today so just went on an emergency bra mission to M&S as I think my ribs have just expanded massively. They were useless - had nothing above an F cup in a 34 chest, and I checked for you smaller ladies and they had nothing - nothing at at all! - in a 30 chest. Terrible! I thought M&S were supposed to be good. Looks like it will be an expensive trip to Bravissiomo, but I really don't want to have to buy soft bras now to fit my bigger ribs only for the babe to drop properly in a couple of weeks and then have to buy nursing bras a few weeks later. Maybe I'll just have to suffer squashed ribs and heartburn and write it off as another pregnancy niggle!

Had 34wk midwife check today and was very pleased to have it confirmed the babe is head down. Don't know why I'd convinced myself he would stay breach, but he seems to have done the right thing which I am very chuffed about. Smile
