Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

With all this talk of tmi, jst had to share...tried to 'trim' down there bout a wk n half ago and ended up takin too much off cos cldnt see...hence very itchy regrowth which I really wldnt like post birth! Think I'll go for the cave woman look here on in...Hmm

33+1....48 days to go! Shock

LikeCandy · 02/03/2013 18:37

Ahhh ladies, so glad you're all here to share TMI with! Thanks

I attempted a 'tidy up' (with a beard trimmer and a vanity mirror - how embarrassing) last week. It was not a success. Bump is too big / arms too short!
I am usually neatly trimmed or all off, so i feel rather scruffy even if I can't see it!
I will have another go at getting it a bit shorter closer to the date 70s porno muff is not a good look!
Am not going for a Hollywood as I've read that it can impact on healing time (hairs growing into stitches etc)

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 02/03/2013 18:53

I'm going for a minimal trim with some old clippers of DH's - just blunt enough to be gentle! Definitely no shaving because of irritation.

cheese your poor thing. At least they've picked it up and started you on treatment. I hope it doesn't cause you much more trouble!

Msbluesky32 · 02/03/2013 20:55

The pages are filling up quicker than I can remember who has said what - a sure sign of the beginning of maternity leave!

Sounds like a few of you are having tough times with monitoring baby, test results and baby positions. I guess we are coming towards the finishing lines now and things are developing as we get nearer. My thoughts are with all of you who are struggling for various reasons.

On a much much more trivial note I'm with you on the inability to see/maintain down below. One lady in our NCT suggested getting DPs to help but goodness knows what mine would look like if I let DP loose!
And no one really mentioned the killer heart burn. There isn't anything I eat that doesn't set my chest on fire. That coupled with period like pain - I feel like I'm one ball of burning fire. I also managed to feel faint whilst sitting down earlier - goodness knows how but I started to get stars in front of my eyes just from eating. Quite an achievement. It will all be worth it in the end though it just can't come quickly enough now Smile

Hoping tomorrow brings more positive news for everyone in need of it Brew

Dysgu · 02/03/2013 21:29

Thank you for feedback about what do to re nether regions! I was in the bath this afternoon thinking about it... I think I am going to buy a cheap pair of clippers and go for the short crop! I don't fancy the 'cave woman' with all the discharge and then the lochia... but also wasn't sure of the implications of the regrowth and itchiness following the birth.

Now to find cheap clippers...

jacqueline thanj you for posting your advice about weeing after the birth. You have reminded me that I still need to buy witch hazel. I did have a look last time I was in Boots but could not find it. Could not find it in Sainsburys wither but wasn't sure they would have it anyway. Where would I find it?

aufaniae · 02/03/2013 21:47

Is it Witch Hazel ointment you want?

How about this from Baldwins (not got Witch Hazel from them before, but in general the quality of their stuff is excellent)

Keys86 · 02/03/2013 22:40

dysgu I struggled to find it in boots too, so I asked a shop assistant and it was in a really random place with the likes of surgical spirit etc. hope you find some!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 02/03/2013 22:44

I had to ask too in Boots, it was with the allergy stuff.

msblue my heartburn is horrendous, especially now I'm on antibiotics! I've just invested in a 500ml bottle of gaviscon! I also carry the tablets at work because it kicks off a while after I eat (usually when I'm running round at work!).

MumofWombat · 03/03/2013 01:33

My heartburn is still ridiculous! I've worked out some of the food that seems to trigger it off but not all. Interesting about the antibiotics - I'm on some at the moment, hadn't considered that they might be not helping. But they sure are helping me feel better - I'm contemplating actually getting dressed today!

Wrt the lady garden, I'm having an ELCS, and we have been told not to do anything, that the hospital would trim us before the operation. Apparently they have a higher rate of infection in people who have waxed/shaved it all off them selves. So (tmi alert) I'm going a bit cave woman down there now!

Can't believe our Alex is three months old! Wow! He and his mama are troupers aren't they.
And looking forward to hearing all about the wedding!

rosiesmartypants · 03/03/2013 02:00

Wee update, Liam Stewart was born at 3:13pm Tuesday. Cervix 5.5cm dilated by Tuesday morning and full steam ahead! Weighed in at 6lb 12oz - good for a 35 weeker.

LO is doing well, in local NICU as had some feeding and blood sugar problems, blood sugar is regulating and he has decided food is a good idea....hope to have him home in a few days :)

enjay0811 · 03/03/2013 02:42

Wow rosie tht is fantastic news! Such a good weight too! Hope ur doin ok too and liam gets to come home soon Xx

MumOfTwoCats · 03/03/2013 02:55

Wow Rosie congratulations! Its starting be seem more real now they are arriving!

I just came on to say if you are suffering from very sore and itchy stretchmarks like I am ... get the sudocrem out. I just spent two hours tossing and turning,
Itching, putting cold damp flannels on It for relief. Googled and someone mentioned sudocrem! Instant relief! I had previously been anti chemical based cream for baby - only had a small pot from bounty - but if it soothes as well I may change my mind!

enjay0811 · 03/03/2013 02:55

Bit me me me so sorry in advance but feelin a bit crappy 2nite n cld do with a moan/ support/ advice. Had friends ova this evenin n everyone obvs drinkin except me. Dh is a bit merry n decides to start a discussion on how gorgeous/hot he thinks random celebs n actresses r..n kept goin on for ages. Que frumpy, sober n fed up wife sat in the corner. Prob made worse by the fact he was also out on the piss last nite with work (1 other bloke n bout 4 women - 1 of whom I have a suspicion wld like to b more than jst friends Hmm). I now can't sleep from horrible heartburn while he's prob fallen asleep on the sofa afta I left him watchin football highlights, as he obvs prefers tht to me in bed! Pls tell me I'm jst hormonal n unrational? Or do u think he's bein very inconsiderate?

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 03/03/2013 03:28

To add to the list of ailments, does anybody have teeth that 'hurt'. I've got a cold and awful headaches, but it's like my headache is going from my skull down to my jaw and I just woke up with an achey jaw Blush just brushed with sensitive pro relief, but still sore. Funnily enough the gums are bleeding less than they were before but hurt more?!

Congrats rosey on the arrival of Liam,Thanks, Hoping you get to take him home soon x

Lady garden, I plan on having a tidy up below, as in bikini wax around the sides and trim the rest as short as I can.

LikeCandy · 03/03/2013 04:34

Congratulations Rosie & welcome to the world Liam!
How exciting that you'll have him home so soon!

enjay sorry you've had a rough evening. I am rubbish with relationship advice, so I'll leave that to the others, but I guess if you feel what he did/said was out of line you need a good heart-to-heart in the morning.
[hug]

toobreathless · 03/03/2013 05:26

Congratulations Rosie hope little (well not so little for 35 weeks that is an excellent weight!) Liam gets home soon.

WRT 'down there' I took it all off with DD and will probably do so again. Didn't have any problems with regrowth & was very grateful to be all neat when DD was delivered by a very good friend (Obs Reg), people said to me 'at the time you won't care who sees everything' but I did care all the way through. Suspect that's my personality though.

Cheese sounds a bit miserable and not surprised you are fed up!

I have been having what I think are irregular contractions rather than BH all night, they have been quite painful at times. But not getting any worse or closer together. Not overly concerned as now 35 + 2 and suspect this might go on for a few weeks or so. Convinced I will go overdue. Baby is very wriggly. Will ring in in the morning if they are not entirely gone.

35 + 2

Rosie-congrats that's brilliant news, been desperate to find out how you were!

Cheese-snap, all day yesterday I was saying how much my teeth were hurting, my bottom ones feel really sensitive and I never suffer from sensitive teeth, never even thought it could be pregnancy related, but should have known better by now!

Enjay-definitely hormonal, he sounds like a typical bloke in that I bet it wasn't intentional to hurt you and he didn't even think 'I'd rather watch TV than go to bed with the mrs' men don't think that hard! I have had identical evenings to this and over analyse everything, so just speak to him this morning and explain you are feeling a bit crap and his actions hurt you as I bet he has no idea, give him a chance to then make it up to you, don't expect him to realise this by himself! Not an oracle of relationships so you can tell me to shut it, but I have so been there, scary you think your relationship is so special but all couples really do have very similar evenings!!

Ollibobs · 03/03/2013 07:39

Congratulations Rosie! What a great weight! Hope little one gets home soon xx

Fluffeh · 03/03/2013 07:56

Aww congratulations rosie that's a fantastic weight for 35 weeks! I hope your both home soon :).

enjay I agree with Essex, I think it's just typical drunk behaviour and he probably didn't even think how it would affect you. And if never say out hormones make us irrational but they do tend to make us more sensitive. A chat and a cuddle today might make everything good again :).

Had my last nct class yesterday. One of the ladies is due in 3 weeks, exciting times! The rest of us are due between them and early may. We have a provisional post natal meet up planned for early June.
Yesterday's class was really good. We had a visit from a lady who runs the local sling library and she was fantastic. I do have a sling already but fell in love with the moby wrap so I'm trying to talk DP into letting me get one of those too.
Had a letter from the DWP to say we should get the maternity grant this week meaning I can go out and get the mattresses and hopefully the moby wrap and all the hospital bag items.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Mama1980 · 03/03/2013 08:16

Congratulations Rosie! And welcome to the world Liam. Smile Such fantastic news, I've been checking for a update and thinking of you. Great weight for 35 weeks I hope he's home very soon. Rest up and take care of yourself sending much love and Thanks xxx

damnitdamnit · 03/03/2013 08:30

Congratulations Rosie.

Cheese - sounds like you could have sinusitis type thing going on too. Hope you feel better soon. It's rubbish when you can't take ibroprofen and other stuff.

Taking the dd's swimming today it's the only place I feel quite normal (until I have to get dressed again). I was going to join an aquanatal class until I realised it was £7.50 a session!!!!! Does this seem excessive to you or is it just me.

Teapig · 03/03/2013 08:34

Huge congratulations Rosie! hope you have little Liam home soon, what a great weight.

It's really good to read the advice on lady gardens, I had been wondering about that. I'm going to go for the short crop I think. JH thanks very much for the birth after care advice. That's super useful for me as a first timer.

Had a great day yesterday as we went to a local baby sale. Got a nursing pillow for a fiver and lots of baby clothes in great condition from just 20p.

Now I feel completely rubbish as I've managed to pick up a cold. Sore throat, headache and runny nose are in full force. Looks like a sofa day today.

EmpressMatilda · 03/03/2013 08:41

Great news Rosie. Congrats. Sounds like he's doing really well.

How exciting it will be on this thread as more birth news starts to trickle in!

Thanks all for the tips about down below and after birth. I love this thread and how honest we all are about discussing things normally in the Tmi category!

I am happy as I have just bought a car. Secondhand and actually a really good deal. It even has isofix points so baby's car seat is going in my car! Now I just have to psyche myself up for driving it as I haven't driven for 10 years!

EmpressMatilda · 03/03/2013 08:43

cheese I had sinusitis a few months back and one of the main symptoms was toothache. Worth checking with your GP.

Trishstar · 03/03/2013 10:04

Wow congrats Rosie on little Liam! Hope he's home super quick!!!

Our friends bought their 5 day old son to our wedding yesterday and I was holding him for ages!!! Hubby (wow I can say that!! SmileSmile) was mesmerised by him and just wants April to hurry up! We are going to see them again later!! Can't get enough of the baby!

Glad to see the advice on "grooming" was just about to ask!!! Xxx
